Chapter Three: Peter Learns
Marinette finally started going to school. She couldn't remember the name of the school, but that didn't matter. All that did was that is was a school that centered around design and science. And Peter went there. Why did Peter have to go there? Marinette huffed when she saw him. Why did she hate him so much? It's not like she could answer this question. It's just he reminded her of a certain blonde- and that is something she WOULD NOT like to deal with in New York. New feelings for a new boy. Maybe that's why it was called New York.
Finally, Peter worked up the nerve to at least approach the girl. "Hi, Marinette." Marinette huffed.
"Oo, look at this cutie," a boy said, pushing Peter out of the way. "I'm Flash, and I'm sure you don't wanna be seen hanging around with someone like Peter Parker."
"Nice to meet you, Flash, I'm Marinette," Marinette said, glad she didn't have to face Peter. Why didn't she want to face Peter?
"You're not from around here, are you?" Flash asked the girl.
"No, I'm from France," Marinette responded.
"France? Are you from Paris?" Flash asked.
"Yeah," Marinette responded.
"Have you ever met Ladybug or Cat Noir?" Flash asked.
"Chat Noir," Marinette corrected. "And yes, I've worked with Chat Noir to de-evilize some akumas, and even got a miraculous once from Ladybug." What a phony, was what Peter thought. She was Ladybug. Although, she couldn't say that, of course.
"How would you like to hang out some time?" Flash asked.
"Sure, why not?" Marinette said.
"How about the zoo? After school, today?" Flash asked.
"No problem, that works for me," Marinette said.
"It's a date!" Flash said, winking an eye at Marinette. A date? Marinette sighed. She'd just ignore he ever said that- but then again, since Flash and Peter look like enemies… Dating him might be just what she needed.
"No way, Marinette!" Peter said, after Flash left. "You can't date Flash Thomson!"
"Who says I can't?" Marinette said. "Flash seems like an overall nice kid. Give me one reason I shouldn't date him."
"He's a big jerk! He's a bully!" Peter said. "He'll use you, and then dump you!"
"I've had enough of that in my life not to care. Heard of Adrien Agreste?" Marinette asked.
"Yeah," Peter said, a little hesitantly.
"Broke my heart. More than once. I had the biggest crush on him for two years. I tried dating someone else, named Luka. Luka said I was just using him as a placeholder until Adrien came around, which wasn't true, and then Adrien started dating Kagami. I'm sure Flash can't be any worse," Marinette mused*.
"Oh," Peter said, stopping in his tracks. This Adrien guy, he really seemed to hurt her. Maybe that was why she was so guarded. He would have to break down her walls some how… some how…
"Goodbye, Peter Parker," Marinette said with a cold glare.
"Dude, is that how you talk to a girl like Marinette?" Ned asked Peter critically.
"I told you- she HATES me," Peter groaned.
"How about we spy on Marinette and Flash on their 'date?'" Ned said, elbowing Peter.
"Are you crazy?" Peter asked.
"Peter, crazy is my middle name," Ned joked. Peter shook his head.
"It might be crazy enough to work," Peter said.
"Then let's do it! Mission spy on a jerk and hot French girl a-go!" Ned said.
Peter raised his eyebrows at his friend. This was crazy. What was he getting himself into? Well, if spying on the girl was the best he could do, then he really was desperate. But what else could he do? Not much, clearly.
…
Marinette looked at Flash. The boy had curly brown hair and tan skin. He wore a polo and loose blue jeans. He honestly looked cute, but he wasn't her type. She would play along with it though, because she thought that Peter would find a way to spy on her. She couldn't give him any hints that her and Flash were far from being a couple.
"How would you like a drink?" Flash asked.
"That would be wonderful, thank you," Marinette responded. She let out a beautiful, lightening smile. In Flash's perspective, Marinette was one of the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. It was love at first sight. Maybe she wouldn't mind if he moved a little fast… Maybe she would stop him, maybe she wouldn't. He wanted to see how far he could push their relationship. She agreed to the date, technically, she didn't deny it.
"What do you want?" Flash asked the girl.
"You choose," Marinette told him. Gosh- she looked hot with that face. A slight smirk, her big blue eyes looking at him, and hand gently brushing against his.
"Um, I'll get two cokes," Flash told the man at the booth they went to get drinks.
"Two cokes coming up," the man said. He put two cokes on the counter. "That'll be five twenty-five." Flash gave the man money and handed Marinette a coke.
"You ever had a coke?" Flash asked.
"No, actually," Marinette said, popping the soda open and it fizzed. The soda bubbled up and fizzed over. "Ah! Who shook this?"
"Oh, I'll grab a napkin…" Flash took off and came back with a handful of napkins. Marinette wiped up the top of herself since it had surprised her and it covered her completely. Flash made his way from Marinette's feet and when he got up from going a little high on her leg, he slipped on a napkin he had dropped, he landed on Marinette. He lingered there for a second, trying to comprehend what just happened. When he realized, he rolled off of Marinette and his face grew red. "Oh gosh, no!"
"Ned! Did you see that?" Peter whispered.
"Flash stay on top of her?" Ned whispered. "He seems very embarrassed about it though."
"He can't just do that though!" Peter fought back in a whisper-shout.
Marinette looked at Flash. Oops. "Um- maybe I should finish cleaning myself up."
"Yeah- yeah, you do that," Flash said, his face burning up. His hand was numb. He didn't just do that. It was an accident. What was Marinette thinking right now? "I'm- I'm really sorry, Marinette, I didn't mean for that to happen- and I don't care if you leave- I'm really, really sorry."
"Well, you are forgiven. Your hand slipped and you were trying to help, why would I leave?" Marinette asked. Flash looked at the girl. No friggin way. Marinette didn't care.
"NED! SHE DOESN'T CARE!" Peter shouted in a whisper. "THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE! I CAN'T UNDERSTAND THAT GIRL!"
"I hope you don't care if I do this," Flash said, getting closer to Marinette's face.
"Oh, goodness, no. He's going to kiss her, Peter, we gotta do something," Ned said. But it was too late. Marinette's were against Flash's. When they broke apart Peter expected her to say something like, "Flash, you're going a bit fast." Or "Flash, you can't kiss a girl you just met." What she said was not something he liked.
"Oh gosh, Flash, you taste good," Marinette said, slipping her hand into his. Flash realized something: Was she playing him? No, not a girl like Marinette. He did a little research on her and it couldn't be true. She's had one boyfriend, and he broke up with her.
"Are you saying I'm a good kisser?" Flash asked, letting go of her hand and wrapping his arms around her waist.
"The best," Marinette said, proceeding to kiss Flash.
"Ned, this wasn't a good idea! All we know now is that Flash could make advances on her and it'd only make her happy!" Peter shot at his friend.
"How was I supposed to know?" Ned said, defending himself.
"Let's get out of here," Peter grumbled.
…
Dragonne sat on the edge of Stark Tower. Maybe she would see Spiderman again. She sloshed water around her mouth, trying to erase the taste of Flash from her mouth.
"Oh, you again," Spiderman said.
"Hello, Spidy," Dragonne responded. "You don't sound happy to see me."
"I wouldn't be happy if I won the Nobel Prize right now," Spiderman grumbled.
"What happened?" Dragonne asked, sincerely concerned.
"Just- a girl that I know, I really want to be friends with her, but she's dating a guy that hates me, and all I'm trying to do is be nice," Spiderman said. "Any ideas?"
"No, but I'm trying to find a way to get to Paris, and I don't have any ideas there either. I'm usually really good at making plans, but this one I'm stuck on," Dragonne sighed.
"Why would you want to get back to Paris?" Spiderman asked.
"I want to go back because…" Dragonne paused.
"If it's a secret, I promise I won't tell," Spiderman said.
"Thanks, Spidy," Dragonne said. "I want to go back because I'm Ladybug. New York was never my idea. Not to mention the boy I was supposed to be housing with. He thinks I hate him. I don't even know how I feel about him. He reminds me of one of my close friends, one that has broke my heart time and time again. This boy- he seems so willing to help, so willing to get on my good side, but I just- I just can't let him in for fear of falling for him and getting my heart broken again…" Spiderman felt his heart break inside of him. Dragonne was Marinette, and she doesn't hate him. She's afraid to love him.
"You don't have to worry," Spiderman said, in a whisper.
"How do you know that?" Dragonne asked him, her big blue eyes filled with question.
"Because I will protect you no matter what."
A/N: Okay, I think that is a pretty good chapter… I dunno. Tell me. If not I don't know if you guys like it… Also mused (why I put the * by it) is a work often confused with amused, but they mean completely different things. Mused means thinking back on memories, and amused is in a laughing state. So, don't want anyone mixing those up! Y'all are great! Thanks for reading and feel free to leave me positive comments/constructive criticism/etc. Bug OUT!
