After they confirmed his vitality, they angrily turned to her. AngryDude#1 glared at her menacingly, she backed away cautiously.
"Whaddya thinkin? Bumpin' into our bro?"
AngryDude#2 slightly nudged AngryDude#1 with a grin.
"Hey, don't you think she has some looks."
AngryDude#1 giggled and stared at her pervertedly.
"Yeah, you have to pay us back for hurting our bro, y'know?"
AngryDude#2 came up beside him, his grin just as wide and just as perverted.
"Yeah, you have to!"
She frowned as she stared at the two approaching people.
"Hey, what the hell are you two idiots doing?"
A man in a suit stood at the end of the alley.
PRESENT
A man stood at the end the alley. He seemed to be glaring at the two.
"You idiots.."
They immediately backed away, their expression overwritten with fear.
"S-suki, I thought you were out of town?"
Suki's eye twitched irritably.
"Yeah? And what do I see when I come back? An unconscious idiot and two other idiots trying to rob some girl."
Suki sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. They stepped back fearing for their life.
"Just go, jeez."
They picked up their unconscious companion and sprinted away. Suki sighed irritably.
"Those idiots."
Then he stared at her, his eyebrow raised in suspicion. She examined the man. He looked to be around his early-20s, a dark maroon suit, his hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail and a small statuette hung loosely on his neck.
"Sorry about that, those guys are idiots, but they're pretty cool once you get past the robbing part."
"Why?"
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"Excuse me?"
She persisted as she stepped forward.
"Why'd you help me?"
Suki shrugged hesitantly.
"Did I need a reason to? You were in trouble and those idiots were bothering you. I don't see a problem."
She sighed helplessly.
"I guess not."
He looked around for a few seconds before turning back to her.
"Hey, why DID you go inside a sketchy alley anyway? I mean, this place is very suspicious! Have you heard about Little Timmy? He went into a dark and scary place and he never came back! Wait, that was a candy van. Point is! What were you doing here?"
She blushed embarrassedly as she looked at him.
"I-I was just following someone."
Suki backed away from her, his eyes staring at her suspiciously.
"Stalker, much?"
She blushed even harder before she glared at Suki.
"That's not what I meant!"
Suki chuckled amused as he leaned against the wall.
"Well then what did you mean?"
She looked around carefully before speaking.
"The person I was following took something of mine. Something very precious to me."
Suki seemed to ponder this for a bit then he turned to her.
"Hey, did this person happen to have, blonde hair and know a lot of sweet sweet parkour?"
She smiled brightly at the man.
"Yes! That's the one."
Suki frowned.
"Oh no.."
He cleared his throat before putting his hand forward.
"Well then, let's go find your phantom thief, eh?"
She took a step forward towards the exit, but Suki raised his arm blocking her.
"But first, your name. Can't go on some wild thief hunt without getting to know each other at least."
She gulped as she stared at him nervously. He smiled cheerfully as he stared at her.
"Well, um…"
"I'm Puck!"
The gray feline immediately materialized in front of her with a smile.
Suki chuckled lightly as he stared at the small airborne cat.
"Cute."
She took a deep breath and spoke.
"And I'm Satella."
Suki chuckled lightheartedly at Satella's statement.
"What's so funny?"
Suki waved it off dismissively as he took in deep breaths.
"Nothing. It's just you reminded of an old friend."
She raised an eyebrow I confusion.
"And I suppose you can call me, Suki. Everyone does and and it's cool."
As they neared, this 'mystery thief' that Suki claimed to know, she began to get nervous. For one she didn't know this guy, for all she knew he could be leading her to a trap.
Suki abruptly stopped in front of a large house. HE turned around with a grin.
"We're here!"
Satella looked up, it was a decently large house with two large wooden doors. Suki walked up to them and knocked loudly.
"Hey, Va—"
He stopped himself before speaking again. She raised an eyebrow at his action.
'What was he about to say?'
"Hey Rom! It's me! Open up!"
Heavy footsteps could be heard almost immediately and the door slammed open. A giant old man stood in front of them, he had white hair, a white beard and even white eyebrows. He had a large grin plastered on his face as he stared at Suki.
"Suki! How long's it been?"
Suki examined Rom up and down then he snickered.
"Long enough, Rom. Oh sorry! I meant Grandpa Rom, or is it Old Man Rom now?"
Rom's expression immediately soured at his words.
"And I've forgotten how annoying you were."
Suki placed his hand on his chest, his expression one of faux pain.
"I am offended that you think that way of me, Rom! After all we've been through!"
Rom continued to glare at him before turning to Emilia, he raised an eyebrow at her.
"And who's your companion, over here?"
Suki grinned.
"Let's talk about this inside."
They came inside the house. Inside seemed pretty warm, familial kind of warmth. There was a bar on the far end of the house, windows everywhere, and tables set all around. Rom took his place behind the counter and Suki came over to her.
"So, Old Man Rom, told me that your supposed 'phantom thief' should arrive any second now."
She turned to Suki who was seemed to be in good spirits.
"Hey, Suki. Do you perhaps know Old Man Rom?"
Suki grinned, nostalgia playing all over his face.
"Ah, well I do know him. He was a good friend, I met him a while back when he was—"
The door slammed open, interrupting him.
"Hey, Old Man—"
The blonde girl stood in front of the door. Rom calmly sitting behind the counter, Satella eyes fierce at the thief and Suki trying to hide under a table. She coughed loudly. Suki turned slowly with a forced grin.
"Eyy! Felt! It's been a while hasn't it? How's the, um, stealing going..so far?"
Felt rushed towards the suited man, tackling the man in a hug. Suki smiled sadly.
"Hey—"
Then he was smacked in the face.
"Why'd you leave me with Old Man Rom!?"
Suki chuckled as he stared off into space. He glanced back at the angry blonde teen.
"I was otherwise preoccupied. To spare you the details, there was a lot of killing involved."
She glared at him then settled on pouting.
"I'm still angry at you, but first, why are you here?"
Suki examined his nails nonchalantly as he spoke.
"It seems that you've stolen something quite precious to this girl here."
He gestured towards Satella, who was staring intently at Felt. Felt frowned before bringing the object out. It was an insignia but an odd one at that, it was a black triangular shaped object and at the very middle was a red gem and surrounding it were intricate gold designs. Unbeknownst to everyone, it briefly glowed in her hand.
Suki took one look at it then collapsed laughing.
"Y-you l-l-lost the— oh Jesus."
Satella blushed bright red in embarrassment at Suki, who was rolling around the ground.
"It was stolen!"
Suki snickered at her attempted rebuttal.
"That's worse!"
Suki got up, dusting off his suit. He held his hand open in front of her.
"Now, the insignia?"
She quickly hid the small object in her small pouch.
"I can't just give it to you! My client promised to pay 10 holy coins for this!"
Suki doubled over.
"10 holy coins?! What kind of damn maniac pays that much for something like that!?"
Satella rushed forward at the girl.
"I'll pay you 20 holy coins."
Suki slowly turned to her with a horrified expression then he smiled sadly as he sat in the corner.
"Excuse my poorness."
Rom raised an eyebrow at Satella's eagerness.
"Well, I guess you really want that insignia back, dontcha?"
Satella nodded furiously. Rom laughed wildly.
"Guess we'll just have to give it to her then—"
"Oh, my! I didn't think that you would've started negotiations without me."
The temperature in the atmosphere seemed to drop a few degrees. Immediately, Suki appeared before Satella, his hand had caught a curved blade that was heading straight for her neck.
He glanced at the woman who held the blade.
"Tsk tsk, a beautiful woman such as yourself shouldn't be holding such dangerous toys.
He disappeared and appeared behind her, still holding the blade.
"You might just hurt yourself."
The woman calmly slashed at Suki, who quickly jumped away. A smirk lay on her face, excitement and interest twinkled in her eyes. She licked her lips in anticipation.
Suddenly, everybody seemed to regain their senses. They stared in shock at the woman and then at Suki. The woman wore a black dress, a dark cloak and a black blade lay in her hand.
She smiled dangerously at Suki.
"You're him. Aren't you?"
Suki shrugged carelessly. Then he examined her from top to bottom.
"Black hair, black clothes and a blade exactly like—"
He stopped himself again then spoke.
"A blade unique to the Northern provinces."
Suki grinned even wider. His eye glinted dangerously.
"You're Elsa Greinhart, aren't you?"
She laughed proudly as she carelessly played with her knife.
"Oh my! I didn't think you of all people would have heard of me!"
She slipped into a fighting stance. Almost like a tiger, claws out and ready to pounce.
"But now that you're here, I can kill you and the half-elf!"
She dashed forward, an insane glint in her eyes. Her knives ready to cut into anything she sank it into. Immediately, a wall of ice came up in front of her, blocking the Hunter.
Puck appeared before her and Satella. He stared at Elsa with a bright smile, but a dangerous glint in his eyes.
"We haven't introduced ourselves, have we? My name is Puck!"
He raised his two paws and ice began to form out of the air.
"Remember my name after you die!"
The ice shards immediately rained down on the hunter. Dust blew up everywhere. Where the ice had landed, it created a giant ice spire.
Suki grabbed the albino giant and the blonde thief and pulled them to the far end of the house. Rom stared worriedly at the destruction.
"Did they get her?!"
Suki smacked the giant's head and glared at him.
"Don't say that! You'll trigger a flag for sure—and she's alive. Dammit Rom!"
The ice broke apart and Elsa stood there, completely unharmed, holding her dark coat which then disappeared.
"One should always be prepared."
Elsa dashed forward, her blade ready to cut through Satella once more. An ice shield stood between her blade and Satella. She glared fiercely at the assassin.
"Never underestimate a spirit arts user!"
Ice began to form at Satella's hand and began to blast at Elsa.
Felt watched the two fight inside. Blade against magic ice.
"If this turns into a battle of attrition, we should have a chance!"
Suki shook his head as he carefully watched the two. He turned to Felt.
"For a spirit, it's a battle for how long they can stay corporal."
Old Man Rom frowned at Suki.
"You sure know your way around fighting spirits."
Suki chuckled as he adjusted his suit. He gave a sharp grin at Rom.
"I just have experience."
Felt stared out the window, the sky was beginning darken. Felt gulped nervously.
"It's almost five!"
Suki smirked as he stood adjusting his coat and cuffs. His eyes glinted dangerously in the setting sun.
"Guess it's my turn."
Elsa laughed excitedly as she dodged and weaved through multiple flying ice shards.
"My, it's been a while since I've been regarded as a simple girl."
Puck chuckled as more and more ice shards began to materialize.
"Well, from my perspective, all of my opponents are basically babies. Still you're so strong, I almost pity you."
Elsa dodged backwards and started to quickly crawl on the wall, whilst avoiding the ice shards.
"Being praised by a spirit, I'm deeply touched!"
She landed down and slashed the incoming ice shards. Her eyes flitted over to the window. The sun had begun to set.
"Oh and just when we were having such fun! What a bore."
Puck grinned as he fired one after another, a small grin forming on his mouth.
"It's hard being a lady's man, the girls won't let me sleep! but staying up late is bad for your skin too! So let's end this quickly!"
Elsa tried to move forward, but instead she couldn't budge. She looked to find that her foot had been frozen over. Puck gave her a mischievous grin.
"I wasn't aiming randomly, you know?"
Elsa shrugged carelessly as she tried to move.
"Does this mean I've been had?"
Magic began to accumulate in front of her, eventually forming a bright ball of ice magic. Puck's grin widened.
"Good night!"
It flew forward, dangerously coming at her. Ice flew everywhere, as the giant ice spire solidified. Satella stared forward as the dust began to settle.
"My, how lovely, I thought I was going to die."
Rom, Felt and Satella stared on at her in horror. Suki watched the interaction carefully with a mysterious grin. Puck turned to Satella with a frown.
"I don't think it befits a girl to do that."
Satella stared at with a concerned expression.
"Puck, can you hold up?"
Puck yawned widely as his form began to become translucent.
"Sorry, I'm really sleepy. I underestimated her a bit and my mana's gone so I'm going to disappear."
Satella smiled at him reassuringly.
"Rest. I'll take care of things here. Thank you, Puck."
Puck had begun to become transparent already. He smiled up at Satella.
"If anything happens to you, I'll act according to my contract. If it comes to it, call me, even if you have to squeeze me out of my odo."
He glowed brightly then he was gone. Elsa frowned sadly at the spirit's disappearance.
"You're going away?"
She quickly stuck a piece of ice to her bleeding foot which quickly melded to her foot. She readied her blade once more.
"Well that is unfortunate."
She dashed forward, Satella got ready to defend herself. She never got the chance. Suki stood in front of her, holding the blade back with his bare palm. He grinned slyly at her.
"May I have this dance, miss?"
She slashed downwards, Suki backed away. Elsa followed suit with aggressive, but precise attacks. Attacks that could kill if he wasn't careful. She dashed forward then was rewarded with a jab straight to the face.
She flew backward, but Suki didn't stop there. He quickly followed up with an overhead axe kick. She dodged backwards, but quickly got up and dodged again to the side, she bared her sword. Blood gently trickled out her nose. Her eyes widened at the sight then she readied her stance.
She grinned widely then she realized she couldn't see Suki anymore.
"Gotcha."
The fist stopped right in front of her heart, the man who owned said fist glared at the blonde thief who was now in the doorway. She had come back from somewhere and he had gut feeling where she just came from.
"Come on, Felt. Don't you trust me?"
The roof blew open, something crashed through. Dust was everywhere, Suki leaped back with an annoyed expression and Elsa quickly took the time to get ready.
The dust cleared and there he stood. Red hair gently flapping in the wind. His white coat, slightly dusty from crashing through the roof and his hand rested on an intricately designed sword. The handle in the design of a dragon.
Elsa licked her lips in anticipation.
Reinhard, the Sword Saint, had arrived.
