First Day of June

A/N: I meant to update sooner but got sidetracked, so this chapter I'm introducing the characters and still getting a feel for everybody while slowly trying to progress the story and such. If you feel I'm portraying your character incorrectly or you have suggestions or you wanna edit or change something about your character shoot me a message.

June 1st, 1986

The sun had only risen 20 minutes ago casting a beautiful early morning glow in the creek as two friends sat on the dock together, one relaxing enjoying her coffee and the other, sketching the long dark blonde haired guy floating in the creek with aviators on, and floaties on his arms. He looked dead just floating in the water like that but in reality he had just taken 2 edibles about an hour and a half ago before he went running and now was currently enjoying the delayed affects of marijuana. Lily kept looking up from her sketchbook, her icy blue eyes tracing every outline of his figure and the scene around him. By no means were her and Alex friends, if anything his friendly and charming nature made him intriguing but she isn't one to support his alcohol and drug usage.

"That's really good." Dawna replied, tucking her brown almost black somewhat wavy hair behind her ears. "You really captured the atmosphere and of course Alex, completely lost in his own little world."

Lily smiled as she continued her sketch "Thank you I really captured his disgusting aura I think, he's gross honestly." She looked up at Dawna, her eyes meeting Dawna's deep-set brown eyes "How do you deal with the smell of cigarettes when you hangout with him?". At hearing this Dawna chuckled and looked over at Alex who still laid, floating in the water looking up at the sky "Hey Alex how do I deal with you smoking cigarettes?"

He was still a ways out in the water but he heard his name and something about cigarettes so Alex started swimming towards the direction of the sound. Within moments he grabbed ahold of the one of the wooden boards on the dock and rested his arms on it, propping his head up looking at the two girls. Dawna's almond skin tone would match the docks color in a month or two and Lily just kept her nose down in her sketchbook.

Lifting his aviators up, using the sunglasses to slick his wet hair back he looked at Dawna and then to Lily "Well if you know anything about me at all, you'd know that I don't smoke cigarettes, they are not for me. If anything my main vices are alcohol, weed, and some coke here and there maybe even some diet coke to stay fit and healthy though I haven't got in contact with any diet Columbian marching powder so that's something I'd be down to try."

Looking up from her sketchbook she noticed Alex staring at her, his eyes were a pinkish-red as he was clearly high yet she almost got lost in his eyes as if something was calling out to her, in a way it was tragically beautiful like a sand castle that would stay in place as long as nothing hit it but the tiniest disturbance would cause to all crumble. His greenish-blue eyes disappeared as the dark aviators came back down and covered them, snapping her out of her daze.

Alex leaned back and slowly started swimming back out to where the sunlight was hitting the water.

"Alex what do you wanna do with your life?" Dawna asked him as he was still in good hearing distance. The young man stopped swimming and started floating "I wanna rock. Life is a 4 letter word and if swap 2 letters you get love. I wanna live and love but in all honesty I'd rather live a thousand lifetimes in a single day than a thousand days in a single lifetime. I'm not gonna sellout or slave my life away, we only have such a short time in this world I'd rather spend it doing what I love and who I love, or don't love depending on if I'm horny or not." He chuckled as he continued paddling out back out into the water.

At hearing this the two friends chuckled and in a way Lily understood him just a little bit more, sure he's a bit wild but underneath that exterior there's a person behind the eyes with wisdom and intelligence and a character that could encaptivate probably just about anyone. "Why does he wear floaties though?" Lily asked, looking over at Dawna.

Dawna looked at her and then back to Alex "Look at him, he doesn't have enough body fat on him to float that's why, plus they are called floaties for a reason. If he was a deer he'd be enough for maybe lunch but that's about it." Dawna looked over at Lily "He's smart but he doesn't really listen to anybody, I've told him many times I think he should go to college. I mean he's horrible at math unless it comes to musical time signatures and money. He'd do well in a lot of things if he really put his mind to it but I don't think he's going to listen to me, he never did before." She got up and dusted her legs and blue jean shorts off "Come on let's go grab something to eat I don't know about you but I'm starving."

"Right behind ya." Lily commented as she starting packing up her pencils and sketchbook, putting them back into her bag "Where are we going to eat?"

Dawna smirked "I was thinking your house."

Lily laughed "You asshole you know I hate my dad.". Dawna nodded "I know that's why we're going to mine my dad already left for work so I'll make us breakfast before I take you to work."

"You're the best."

"I'm always one step ahead, that's what the best people do." Dawna replied as the two of them headed up the dock and cut through a neighbors yard before walking into the cul-de-sac towards the grey colored single story house with the red Ford Ranger parked in the driveway.

Marcellus pulled the white rag out of his back pocket and wiped his hands on it, cleaning it to the best of his abilities to get oil and grime off of his hands. Sundays are half days at the mechanic shop his uncle Ethan runs. So instead of closing at 6pm they close at 12pm which meant it'd only be another 4 hours left to an already slow day. He had just finished changing the oil in an old 69' pale green Ford Bronco. Grabbing the clipboard, he headed back into the waiting room and looked around for the customer who was nowhere to be found. Sighing, Marcellus set the clipboard down on the counter and grabbed the keys out of his pocket. The shop was located just off of Route 17 and with fast-food restaurants and some local restaurants within a quarter mile walking distance it wasn't uncommon for customers to drop their vehicles off and go get food. Heading back into the large bay garage, he climbed into the drive seat of the Bronco, started it up and slowly pulled out of the garage and into the parking lot which was adjacent to it. Coming to a stop and putting it in park, he shut the engine off and pocketed the keys, he headed through the garage into the waiting room and deposited them in the customer key deposit box.

Adjusting his glasses, Marcel headed into the bathroom and checked himself out in the mirror, making sure he got all the grime off of him. Patting down his black low top fade. Wiping the sweat off his brow with his black t-shirt, he washed his hands before wiping them on his jeans. The air outside was becoming hotter and unbearably humid by the second. The only saving graces were 3 large fans placed in the bay garage and the fact that the waiting area had a/c. Hearing the door chime as someone came into the waiting room, Marcellus turned off the bathroom light and headed out to greet whomever just walked in.

Marcellus was greeted with a somewhat familiar face but he couldn't quite place the name. The young man has a triangular shaped face with sharp blue eyes and sharp nose to match along with narrow lips and short brown curly hair. Looking at his clothes, Marcellus noticed the red shirt he was wearing said Marcus on it.

"Marcus?" Marcellus asked as he made his way around the counter

The man nodded and smiled "Yea man you remember me? you came to our show in Los Angeles when you were out there. You also tuned our van up before the tour."

Marcel nodded and played it off that he vaguely remembered him "Yea totally man, you guys back in town now?". Marcus walked up to the counter and leaned against it on his left side "Yea we just got back in yesterday evening, I'm glad we're back home but I already kinda miss touring."

"That makes sense, so since your here can I help you with anything?" Marcellus asked, changing the shift from casual back to professional.

Marcus shook his head "Nah not yet but the van will need another tune up at some point before the summer is over. Alex wanted me to give you this." He pulled out a piece of notebook paper from his phone, handing it to Marcel which opened it to reveal an address: 1103 North Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948. "You know." Marcel chuckled "When he first told me he was inviting me I thought it was all a hoax but now I'm starting believe Alex was genuine when he said I was invited."

At hearing this Marcus chuckled "It's the least we can do dude, we paid what we could and for the remainder of the other half, we're showing you the best summer ever, there's gonna be girls, parties, alcohol, drugs, sex, anything and everything. As far as I know the whole band is going and so are a handful of our friends; you included dude you can show up anytime and leave anytime you want the doors always open, at least that's what Alex says."

"Alex doing good?" He hasn't seen Alex or the rest of the band since L.A. so he figured he'd check in on him.

Marcus nodded "Yea we got high and went running. He's doing pretty good."

"Sounds like a good time."

"It sure was." Marcus replied "Hey well I just came to drop off the address to the house. I'll see you there Friday?"

"Totally, I'm using my vacation time when I get of work Friday so I'll be there for a whole week and then I'll just make the commute."

"Cool, well I'll catch you later Marcel, take care man."

"Alright you do the same." And with that Marcus left leaving Marcel all by his lonesome. Crouching under the counter he grabbed his small portable radio and turned it on. Scanning through the stations he came across a local new broadcast talking about a new strip mall that is opening tomorrow in the Outer Banks to increase and promote tourism, supposedly a it's a hotspot for a bunch of foreigners looking to spend a summer in America, actually all of Outer Banks is a hotspot for foreigners in the summer months. The only thing that's odd about it is that it just seemed to kind of popup out of nowhere. Marcellus didn't remember seeing anything about it or reading anything about a new mall opening up. So that struck him as odd but still maybe he'll meet some hot European chicks there.

A/N: Alright so I still need a drummer and a lead singer for the last 2 members of the band. Aside from that I could use some international characters as well as in actuality the Outer Banks is a hot spot for foreigners in the summer months. I also could use some older characters as well. As for the characters in the chapter I'm trying to shape and mold them to each of your preferences so if I do something that you don't think fits let me know I don't mind changing things as the story progresses. I hope you guys liked the first chapter, I meant to get it out a lot sooner but had some delays. I'm gonna try and update twice a month but really it's whenever I can get a chapter out and feel like it's worth being added to the story.
