Chapter Three: Gotta Move On

Amy was lying on her chest on her bed with a small journal, scribbling out a small poem.

...Outside.

The moving van might come any minute now, and she wanted to leave as soon as possible, so she had already transferred most of her furniture outside. By herself. If Sonic had known she was moving, he would have been helping her. But he didn't know. In fact, he was completely unaware that Amy might not live in the town anymore.

Amy sort of liked that. It was like being in her own little bubble, away and unconnected to Sonic. And if he came to her house after she left... A smile went up on Amy's face. She wouldn't be there, the house would be dark and empty. She closed her eyes and imagined the shock on his face.

Her eyes popped open at the sound of a truck coming up the dusty road. Finally. To Blue Valleys. Away from Sonic! Amy had it all planned out. She had a train ticket and would travel by train to her new home. With her journal. She wanted to collect every memory.

Amy giggled at the irony of this all as she hopped off her bed. A few months ago she never would have dreamed of leaving Sonic! But now she was. For a better life, more or less.

...Or less.

On the train, Amy finished up her poem with a flourish. She felt like a new person each time she read it to herself.

The grass grows greener, every day

As I wish my life would fade away

The grass grows taller

But I recede

Because of Sonic's selfish deed

The grass grows daily, I do not

For it was true love I sought

But now I know

That it is true

There is no love

In my hero blue.

She ripped out the paper and began to fold it up so she could keep it in her pocket. However, the rushing wind seemed to have different ideas. The paper flew out of her hand, out through the window, and across the plains to who knows where. Amy knew it wouldn't be a good idea to lean out the window at try to reach it from a mile away. Oh, well, Amy thought, it's already imprinted in my brain anyway. I can always write it over again.

Amy flipped a page to review the list of things she had brought. After all, there was nothing else to do.

· Couch

· Chair

· Bed

· Roses BUT NOT THE WHITE ONE!

· Laptop

· Couple of Books

· Small TV

· Pretty Much Everything But The Kitchen Sink

· BUT NOT ALL THOSE PICTURES WITH ME AND SONIC!

It was easy to tell that Amy had gotten bored with the list somewhere halfway. But somehow she found a sense of pride in what she had left behind. Not so strangely, she had left behind every memory of Sonic the Hedgehog. She was starting a new life without him and she wasn't coming back. Maybe if Sonic went down on his knees and begged her to come back, then she might reconsider. But Amy knew that Sonic was way too prideful for that.

Amy sighed. Who was she kidding? She would miss Sonic once she got there, more or less. Or more. But Amy was going to try her best to forget about Sonic. For the rest of her life.

In other words, forever.

(A/N: Fun fact, the list section was originally stylized in Comic Sans! Ahh, good times. Additionally, I seem to have had a strange affinity for sentence fragments. Jarringly so.)
