Ashes and Regret

Chapter 3

Author's Note : For the love and support i'm already getting for this new story. I thank you all. Review!

You lost you're love

And all control.

Push and pull

Revolving doors.

You're still apart of me.

I'm still apart of you.

We got married right here. In this house. In the living room.

The wedding was small and personal. We wrote our own vows. Peyton was Brooke's maid of honor while Nathan was my best man. You were a guest but also part of the celebration.

I remember the moment so clearly. Seeing Brooke walk down the aisle towards me. The rest of the world fell away.

Slipping the wedding rings our fingers. Saying the vows we had written. Officially becoming husband and wife.

I was home.

Lucas and Brooke lingered around the house for awhile longer as they always did after the dinner had come to a close.

On the coffee table beside pictures of their grandchildren remained a framed photo of Brooke and Lucas from their wedding.

Brooke picked it up and showed it to Lucas.

"They are the root you being so sentimental. You hold on to everything." Brooke said.

Lucas stared back at her.

"Not everything. Just the things that matter. That i never want to forget. Regardless of how it ended." He replied.

"I should go. I'll see you in two weeks to pick up and drop off the kids." Brooke announced.

"I'll see you then." Lucas said.

Brooke turned from him and left the home.

She knew without looking back that he was looking out the window. Making sure she got into the car and left safely. He was protective in a way that made her feel safe and not stuck.

Lucas left the home once she drove off.

...

Brooke sighed deeply. Entering her home turning on the entryway light. She hated being here alone. He insisted she keep the house.

She wished she fought against it. But knew deep down she was grateful for it. This was only house that had ever like home.

He had given her what she had longed and ached for most. A family . His love.

The Scott Home

Lucas entered his home. As he expected the lights were on. Penelope. Brian. And Carson were parked in the living room. With a tray full of snacks and drinks.

"I see the three of you have you're plans for the night all set. Don't stay up too late. Car and P the two of you have practice in the morning so keep that in mind." Lucas said.

"We will goodnight dad." They said unison.

Once they heard the bedroom door close upstairs. The siblings turned to each other.

"This is supposed to be fun sibling bonding time. No more documentaries B. My pick was last. So now it's Carson's turn." Penelope stated.

"What's the point of watching something you can't learn from.? No more Rom Coms they do nothing but provide false expectations of love and relationships." Brian replied.

"This is exactly why i can't take you anywhere. You suck the fun out of everything. Maybe if you weren't so brooding you would have more going on like us." Carson proclaimed.

"Unlike most of them. High school isn't the peak of my life. So you be the family superstar. I couldn't care less." Brian said.

"Enough of whatever this is. I'm picking again. We're watching Runaway Bride." Penelope announced.

...

"Are you seriously packing up you're suitcase again.? We are just getting back into a routine. How long is this tour or fan event this time.?" Brooke asked.

"A few weeks or months at the most. I will be in constant communication. As much as i can. You know that." Lucas replied.

Brooke breathed out a frustrated sigh. "That isn't the point. I need you here. All of us do." She said.

"This life you wanted so desperately requires sacrifices. You pulled back to focus more on the kids which means i need to step up. Why are you so against that.?" Lucas questioned.

"I'm not. I just need you now. You being away. Balancing the kids on my own. Is taking alot more of a toll then i expected. I'm just worried me on my own that i'm not enough for them. Us together evens things out." Brooke admitted.

"When you needed to put you're career first i supported you. It's you're turn to do the same." Lucas replied. Grabbing ahold of his luggage as he left the room they shared.
