Chapter 3

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters JK Rowling does

I saw a review saying the story was a bit rushed, and after reading through these first three chapters I have to agree, so this is going to be the last chapter this fast pace, Im going to be taking my time with each chapter and post at least once every 4 days, in the future it might be longer than that, but right now with my 3-5,000 words per chapter I think 4 days is plenty. Thanks for the review it helped a lot, so chapter 4 will be a lot slower paced and focus a lot more on details than just skimming through the plot like my first three are.

Other than that Enjoy reading!

Ron was eating breakfast peacefully at the end of the Slytherin table, he was excited for classes to start as he wanted to show off his newfound knowledge. He finished up his three sandwiches and then headed off to his first class of the day, Transfiguration, He was one of the first kids in class there was only one other person a familiar bushy-haired Gryffindor, he went and sat down next to her also noticing a tabby cat sitting on Professor McGonagall's desk.

"Hey Hermione," he greeted with a smile. She turned to him and smiles wide,

"Hey Ron, are you excited for classes? Because I know I am. I've been waiting for this moment to finally show off that just because I'm a muggle-born doesn't mean I can't be a fantastic witch".

He smiled wide at her antics, he knew some people thought of her as annoying, but he thought her fast-talking, and bossy tone was just her and it didn't bother him at all.

"Yeah I'm excited too, after going through all of the books for this year, Transfiguration is my favorite subject, all though it was the hardest it also just grabbed my attention the most out of any other subject" Hermione beamed at that and they both started in on a conversation about Transfiguration, Hermione also brought up a book called "Hogwarts A history" a few times and he mentally noted to check it out later. Even though he wasn't really into intellectual talk even though he could keep his own, thanks to his studying it still felt nice to have someone to talk to, he was going to try to talk to Harry later today too. He had only seen him 2 times since the sorting and the only interaction was a parting nod.

"Well, What do you think about full-body transfiguration? To me it's the most interesting" Ron thought for a moment he didn't know too much about full-body transfiguration but he did agree that it was the most interesting that he had read about so far.

"I think it's cool being able to transfigure your head or part of your body into something, it's cool" He and Hermione talked for another few minutes before the rest of the class piled in.

After a minute people started asking where McGonagall was and Ron had to agree the class had just started and she still wasn't here, he thought she was a responsible teacher.

When the cat on the desk transformed into McGonagall he felt like putting a foot in his mouth and gasping in awe, what the hell was that? She can become a cat, what the hell! "Hello class" she spoke in a soft but stern voice " what you just saw is what is called an animagus form, I am a registered animagus...to become an animagus is very difficult and takes a lot of patience and magical ability". Ron Immediately made sure to mentally note that information, it would be amazing if he could learn to do that.

McGonagall went into a little speech about this being their first year and what was expected of them also she spoke about transfiguration and how it required patience and precision, and that she ended it off by taking roll.

"Alright class today we are going to start with the most simple form of transfiguration, but be warned this will still be incredibly difficult for you, make sure to talk with your partners and help each other out if needed, now what we are going to do today is to turn a toothpick into a needle" she waved her wand and a toothpick appeared in front of everyone "now this is just a small and easy form of very advanced transfiguration if any of you are interested in mastering transfiguration well when you are older and proficient in it you will be able to do something like this" she waved her wand at her desk and it became a pig. The whole class including Ron was in awe of the high level of transfiguration that they were just shown

"Alright, class get started".

Ron looked down at his toothpick and remembering to imagine a needle that is sharp, silver, and made of metal, he waved his wand and the toothpick turned into a needle. Hermione gasped in surprise "Ron how did you do that on your first try! Mines only slightly changing size"

McGonagall walked over as the whole class was watching Ron with wide eyes.

"Well done Mr. Weasley," she said in a very proud and approving voice which made Ron proud of himself all over again " that will be 15 points to Slytherin for your great work" Ron smiled up at her as he waved his wand and the needle became a toothpick again. She seemed proud of him for being able to turn it back also as she gave him another 5 points.

Hermione seemed like she was about to explode with questions of amazement when the bell rang signaling the end of class. Ron gathered up his notes and bag and started to walk out of class on his way out he accidentally bumped into Harry

"Oh my bad Harry," he started to pick up all of Harry's school supplies, and then handed them to him "how have you been Harry, haven't talked to you since the train ride"

Harry took the bag and smiled at Ron "I've been good, Hogwarts is amazing it's just awesome so I have been bored or anything, how about you?"

"I've been good thanks for asking" they talked for a little bit until they had to go separate ways for their next classes "see you Harry" Ron waved

"See you Ron..oh yeah also great job in class today that was fantastic!" Ron smiled as Harry walked away. Ron entered the history of magic class and sat down at an empty table, then got out some parchment and a quill. He then sat there and waited for the teacher to arrive. A few minutes later Professor Binns came floating in and started to talk about well the history of magic.

History of magic was a boring class, very very boring class but Ron had a mission so he forced himself to pay attention and take notes on new information he found out that wasn't in the books he read. When the bell rang to signal the end of class he was super happy he almost jumped out of his seat from boredom.

He made his way to his final class before lunch, charms, when he entered the class he immediately saw the short goblin-like teacher Professor Flitwick who was greeting each student who entered. Ron sat at an empty table and got out his parchment, quill, and notes. Then he just waited, he was surprised when Hermione sat next to him right when she entered class, he thought she might've wanted to sit next to one of her fellow year Gryffindors but he didn't question it as it felt good to have someone to talk to.

"Hey, Hermione!" He said brightly she smiled back at him as she was getting her supplies for the class out

"Hey, Ron!" They didn't say much after their greetings as Professor Flitwick started to take roll, he then started to talk about charms and the mastery of such a fine art, Ron copied the whole speech as after it he was a lot more excited to take charms now. He watched as Flitwick took out his wand and cast a dimmed-down version of a spell Ron had not heard before called 'Lumos Maxima' he then went on to explain how the class would try performing the spell 'Lumos'.

As Flitwick dismissed the class to start their spell work Ron immediately cast Lumos correctly on his first try and so did Hermione

"Oh well done Mr. Weasley and Ms. Granger, well done 10 points to Gryffindor and Slytherin" Hermione and Ron both smiled big at that. He didn't think it was gonna be this easy to get points for his house but it was and it just made him all the happier. The class went by pretty well Ron had made a few mental notes on spells and topics Flitwick had brought up and then he cleaned up his supplies, said goodbye to Hermione, and then made his way to explore the castle, he had decided to skip lunch ever since his conversation with Harry, Harry said the castle was great and Ron had to agree but he was only in the library and great hall so he went to explore around different areas of the castle, he had a couple of hours so he was gonna make the most of it.

He went all around each floor admiring the paintings and sculptures he was seeing, he made his way to the 5th floor and started walking around till he arrived at a very dark corridor where he saw no one in, as he walked down the corridor the darker it got until he arrived in a hallway that had a portrait of a knight in it. The knight stood tall with a shield and sword in each hand, it was wearing all black armor that had gold lacing making patterns all over it. He used his hand to trace the knight as he was fascinated by the fact that it was the only painting he had seen so far in Hogwarts that wasn't moving. His hand traced over the knight's shield when suddenly he felt his whole body being sucked through the painting.

He found himself on the other side of the painting inside a room, the moment he was sucked through the painting the room lit up with torches, it was a large room with faded black and gold walls, in the center was a large grey metal and wood table, there were also 6 large bookshelves with about 100 books each in them, besides that the room was mainly empty but still, Ron was drawn to it. A secret room with tons of secret books? He was ecstatic he immediately went to the bookshelf and started looking through all the books. He noticed that they were books on tons of different types of magic Elemental, wandless, magical core improvement, and more.

He went through each bookshelf until he reached the last bookshelf which was the most worn and in the back of the room, the moment he read one title he froze, the whole bookshelf had books on the dark arts and blood magic. He looked all around himself, an instinct to make sure no one was watching even though he was alone in the room and he very carefully pulled out the first book on the dark arts.

He pulled out four books: a book on transfiguration, helpful charms/spells, wandless magic, and a book on the dark arts. He carefully set each book on the large table pulling the charms book in front of him. He also arranged the books so the dark arts book was last, his parents had always told him that the dark arts were evil but they also told him that they would always be there for him and well they lied about that so he was gonna give the book a shot as use only spells that would help him in the long run.

He opened up the book on useful charms and started to read through it, he landed on two charms that were on the same page that gave him an idea, the first charm was the featherweight charm which would turn heavy items as light as a feather and the shrinking charm which could shrink anything into to tiny sizes that could fit in your pocket. The featherweight charm was pretty easy; it only took him about 45 minutes to get down, he was about to attempt the shrinking charm when he checked the time and realized he had 15 minutes until his first potions class. He left the charms book open and then picked up his bag, mentally mapped how he got to the portrait of the knight, and then left.

When he entered potions he noticed how each house was separated, Slytherin on the left and Gryffindor on the right, so he sat down at the Slytherin table in the back, to ensure he could be alone.

After every student came in Professor Snape glided into the room with a look of indifference on his face. He greeted the class with potions and then began to call role. When he called Harry's name he made a whole big deal about him not knowing anything by asking him questions that weren't even in the first year. Which in turn made him notice two things, for some reason Snape has something against Harry and he had to learn information from higher-up years to ensure he is above everyone else. He knew it wouldn't take too long to write out notes for the higher up years, the part that was gonna be hard was the studying of the higher up years as studying through his first-year notes took him a long while to get through and he still had to go through them a few more times.

"Alright, class" Snape drawled " today you will be brewing a very simple potion, a cure for boils" Ron mentally jumped up and down in hooray " you will have 45 minutes to brew this potion, now get into pairs of two and start brewing. Ron didn't pay too much attention to any of the pairs. The only pairs he noticed were Harry and Neville, and Zabini and Nott. He noticed that everyone was paired up and that he was left all alone, he saw Snape watching him too "Mr. Weasley….you can come work with me" Ron was a little nervous because his brothers had said Snape was a big greasy bat but so far he only saw what happened with Harry so he didn't know what to think. Also, he knew he didn't need any partner to do this potion.

So Ron looked Professor Snape in the eye and spoke " I can do the potion on my own Professor, and although it would be amazing to be able to work with a potions master, I doubt you want to be bugged by the first year, so I can work alone sir" Snape looked a little taken aback for a second before nodding.

Ron immediately got to work in adding the first ingredients and putting the cauldron over a fire and then stirring. He stirred for 3 minutes before taking the cauldron off the fire and letting it cool for 30 seconds, he then chopped up his next few ingredients and then added them to the cauldron, and then stirred for 4 and a half minutes letting the potion mix properly and have it become its signature light red color. He then proceeded to pour the potion into two vials and bring them up to Professor Snape. When he got up the class immediately turned to watch him as he brought the two vials up to Professor Snape.

Snape looked down at Ron before looking at the vials "that was only 11 minutes Mr. Weasley…." he was looking Ron in the eyes with no emotion showing through his face or voice "are you sure you are ready?" Ron nodded then lifted up his sleeves.

"You can give me boils sir and then I can drink the potion in front of you?" Snape seemed to consider this for a second before nodding. Snape took out his wand as the whole class watched and he cast a non-verbal spell that put a few boils on Ron's arm. Ron then proceeded to take one of the two vials and drink it down in one gulp. He waited for about 10 seconds and seemed so did everyone else, they were all watching his arm closely, after the 10 seconds the boils slowly went away until only his pale skin was left.

Snape smirked before taking the other vial and storing it behind himself "excellent work Mr. Weasley, 5 points to Slytherin-" Snape then pulled out a piece of parchment that had rows of names on it, he had a quill and marked right next to Ron's name his score " -and 10 out of 10 on the potion you may go wait at your table" Ron nodded and then walked back to his table and began to wait.

People were looking at him in curiosity and awe all over the classroom, but he also noticed that a couple of the Gryffindors were glaring at him which made him want to shrink so he just looked away. He was watching everybody brew with a mild attention span. He noticed a good amount of people were doing it wrong especially Harry and Neville, but that was mainly with the cutting, if they brewed everything else correctly it should be a decent 7 out of 10. He watched as Neville finished stirring the potion when it was over the heat than he watched as Harry handed him the next ingredient and Neville was about to put the ingredient in when Ron yelled "NEVILLE NO!" If he didn't take the cauldron off the heat and let it cool before adding the next ingredient the cauldron was going to melt from overheating as the next ingredient could produce a lot of heat on top of the already hot cauldron.

Neville froze his hand with the ingredient hovering over the cauldron, all heads were turned towards Ron including Professor Snapes.

"Neville, don't put that ingredient in, you're supposed to take the cauldron off first and let it cool down or you're going to melt your cauldron and probably get a really bad injury". Neville immediately pulled his hand back and gave Ron a shy thanks.

Snape came over and looked over the cauldron and Neville and then looked to Ron looking impressed "good job Mr. Weasley for helping out a fellow student, that's another 5 points to Slytherin" Snape then gilded back to his desk and went back to marking some papers. Ron felt oddly satisfied with himself after that, especially when Neville and Harry got a 5 and came to thank him profusely after class, especially Neville.

"You have no idea how grateful I am Ron" Neville looked grateful and that warmed his heart a little.

"Really Neville it wasn't a big deal" he then proceeded to walk down the hall "have a good day" he waved at Harry and Neville who were now talking excitedly with each other which made his heart clench a little bit. It sucked to have no friends in his house it made everything worse and less bearable but at least he had his goal to complete so it wasn't too bad and now he has that new room so everything is looking pretty good right now.

Ron went to the great hall for dinner and ate a quick large meal before booking it to the secret room

Ron entered the secret room and immediately got to work on the shrinking charm spell, the shrinking spell was much harder than the featherweight but Ron could tell he could probably get it in 6-7 hours. And although that was a great way to think it also hit him as a realization, he was getting ahead of most people but he still wasn't learning any real major spells that would get people to notice him so he rearranged the books and made sure that after he learned the shrinking spell he would start on wandless magic which he knew he probably wouldn't even be able to get by the end of the year, but that's why he wanted to do it so he could be able to show off a super-advanced form of magic. He got back down to practicing the shrinking charm and other charms and spells on the charms book.

Early in the morning Ron snuck into the Slytherin dorms, he proceeded to shrink both his bed and trunk and cast the featherweight charm on both objects, he then took them in his pocket and made his way to the secret room.

He finally would have an actual place to stay, now he just has to get to business.
