Summary: why did no one tell Remus that Peter was the secret keeper? Why did James and Sirius think that Remus was a spy for Voldemort? Why doesn't Remus hate Voldemort?
Chapter three.
Harry stared blankly across the great hall at Hogwarts. They had done it. Voldemort and the death eaters had been defeated. But so many people had died.
Harry could see all the Weasleys crying around Fred's body. Colin Creevey and Lavender Brown had both also died. Remus and Tonks were also dead, leaving little Teddy orphaned.
None of them deserved to die. Not them, or Snape who had actually been on their side all along, not even Crabbe, who never even gotten to choose whether he actually wanted to be a death eater.
A tear slid down Harry's cheek as he thought of all those who were now gone forever.
Those who had survived were bustling about, tending to the injured, mourning the dead. Harry spotted a ministry official heading his way.
"Potter." He said with a nod. "This is for you."
"What is it?" Harry asked.
"Remus Lupin's will." He replied, handing Harry a parchment before walking away.
Ron and Hermione walked up to Harry.
"Who was that?" Ron asked.
"Don't know. Some ministry official." Harry replied. "He gave me Remus's will."
Hermione snatched it from his hands and read it.
"What does it say?" Harry asked.
"He leaves everything to Tonks and Teddy. It says here that, if Teddy is still a child and Tonks is unable to take care of him, his guardianship goes first to Tonks's parents, then you Harry. He and Tonks have made you Teddy's godfather." Hermione said.
"Poor Teddy." Ron said sadly.
"Oh!" Hermione exclaimed.
"What is it?" Harry asked.
In answer, Hermione pointed to a paragraph near the end of the will.
Harry and Ron looked at the place where Hermione was pointing and read:
I really hope that Voldemort and the death eaters have been defeated. If that is the case and Voldemort is dead, then could someone please leave the box of cookies that are under a stasis charm in my vault at Voldemort's grave?
He has done many terrible and unforgivable things but, unlike what most people think, he is not a monster. He made a lot of wrong decisions and was never in any way a nice or kind person, but he always fought for what he believed in, despite often believing in things that, in my opinion, were wrong.
Most people think that he was cruel, sadistic even, as he tortured and killed countless people. While he was cruel, he was not actually sadistic. True, he usually didn't mind when others got hurt, but he also never went out of his way to hurt more people.
He, unfortunately, actually believed that muggles would destroy all wizards if they were not destroyed. He did his best to stop them, ending up trying to take over the world, doing anything and everything to accomplish his mission.
However, when it did not benefit him, he did not go out of his way to hurt people. In fact, as I discovered when he captured me, he went out of his way to see that even his enemies were not unnecessarily hurt. If he is gone for good, then please, do what I could not, and forgive him.
...
The next day, Voldemort's funeral was held. It was unlike any other funeral, in which those who personally new the deceased people spoke of them fondly and retold their heroic deeds in opposing Voldemort and the death eaters. Voldemort's funeral was solemn and quiet. No one had anything positive to say as all his supporters were in Azkaban. Everyone simply looked at the symbolic grave, as his body had exploded from his backfiring killing curse, as Harry placed the box of cookies on the gravestone.
The end.
