The Links had been traveling for weeks, and were just now reaching what was known as Kaepora Pass. Despite the long trek through mountains, wetlands, and plains alike, Akkala was truly beautiful. The crisp breeze fluttered through the gold tinted leaves. Seas of oranges, reds, and yellows mesmerize the eye as they sway in the gentle gusts of faintly salty winds from the glimmering teal waters below.

The red iron filled rock cliffs tower over the sea, and cast shadows on the shifting sands baking in the late afternoon sun.

The whole group was entranced by the scenery as they mindlessly marched along the path. None of their Hyrules had landscapes like this. Even the most experienced adventurers among them lost their sense of impending danger as they entered this seemingly dreamlike world. They had been traveling all day, and were wary with aching limbs and empty stomachs.

As you can imagine, it wasn't too hard for a horde of snarling black blooded monsters to get the jump on them.

--

Legend was first aware that something was wrong when he heard a sharp cry of pain from his left, and whipped around to find Sky clutching his shoulder where the feathered shaft of an arrow had lodged itself. He yelled in alarm and cursed himself for not realizing they were being ambushed until too late. He jumped out of the way in a split second before another arrow raining down from some unknown source thudded on the grass in front of him.

He brought out his shield and covered Sky as his friend downed a red potion and pulled out the arrow.

Legend searched for the source of the arrows, and noticed a group of monsters splitting from the main horde to flank the heroes and cut off retreat.

He saw the rest of his companions battling maybe 2 or 3 monsters each. He analyzed the situation for a few more seconds before making a decision. "Sky, I need you to get me to that big boulder over where Hyrule is fighting."

Sky nodded and pulled out his own shield and sword.

As Sky led the way, hacking a path through the monsters, Legend dug around in his massive "collection" of magical items. Finally finding what he was looking for, he pulled out a huge silver staff that was nearly as tall as him, and had a big bulge at the top.

He smirked at Sky as the other boy raised his eyebrows at the staff. Sky just shook his head and ran off to help Wind with a particularly large moblin.

When Sky was gone, Legend yelled for Hyrule over the sound of clashing swords. "HYRULE! I need you over here now!"

Hyrule came rushing over worried. "What is it?! Are you hit?"

Legend brandished the staff as he told the unofficial healer,"nope. I leave that up to you reckless idiots. But that's not the point. How much magic do you have stored up right now?"

"Uhh maybe enough for one last spell of flames, and a couple small healing spells." Hyrule answered as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"Good. That should be enough. I was hoping you had a lightning spell left, but this will work fine.

Now, listen carefully. When I give you the signal, take this staff, stand up on this boulder, and rain down fire on Everything. Don't worry about the others, I'll take care of that. Try to flush out the archers if you can, if not, don't get hit."

"Aww Legend, I knew you cared!" Hyrule teased.

"Oh just do what I say, Hyrule. And don't make me regret giving you that."

With that, he started running toward the others. He glanced back as Hyrule yelled "WAIT! What's the signal!?"

Legend yelled back with a grin "You'll know!"

--

Warriors had just finished off a wave of monsters and flicked the blood off his sword when Legend came running up to him with a hideous beaded purple necklace in his hand. Warriors was appalled that Legend would even approach him with that thing, let alone want him to wear it.

Legend rolled his eyes exasperated. "You can either wear it, or die a fiery death. But make your decision quickly." And Legend ran off, shoving the necklace into his hands.

Warriors shrugged and tied the beaded chain around his neck just in time to parry an oncoming attack from a lizalfo.

--

Wind tried to duck as a dragon bone bat slammed into his stomach and sent him flying into a tree. He hit the trunk with a thud and he heard his ribs crack on impact. He winced in pain, but managed to roll away as the moblin attempted another swing. Sky had helped him finish off a different moblin a few minutes ago, but had to leave after he saw Four getting swarmed.

That was when he was cornered by this guy. Wind decided to name him Fred.

As the moblin- Fred brought the bat up for an overhead attack, Wind saw his chance.

He lept behind Fred as the monster was exposed, and loosed a flurry of slashes until he dealt the final blow with a stab.

He was about to drink a potion for his ribs when Legend appeared at his side, panting slightly.

"Here. Magic necklace. It will protec- whoa! What happened?!" Legend asked as he gestured to the crimson stain gradually spreading over his bright blue tunic.

"Don't worry about it, just some cracked ribs... and some scrapes apparently. I was just about to take a potion."

"Alright, take the potion, and wear this necklace. It will protect you from the blast."

Wind stared at Legend, quickly disappearing in the frey and looking down at the ugly necklace he said to himself, "Well, I've definitely worn worse."

--

Twilight flung the bokoblin that had jumped on him, and pinned it to the ground with a stab in one fluid movement.

Time was fighting close by and had been momentarily disarmed. Twilight was about to help him, when Time just grabbed the lizalfo by the tail and swung it around to beat a bokoblin to dust with it.

Twilight was perfectly used to his predecessors unique fighting techniques, but that didn't prepare him for turning around to see him beating a monster, with another monster.

Time brushed off his hands and walked calmly to retrieve his sword. He noticed Twilight staring and said with a stoic expression and unknowingly rubbed his facial tattoos, "you pick up a thing or two after even touching the Fierce Deity mask."

Before Twilight could ask anymore questions, Legend ran up and threw them both strange necklaces.

"These will protect you from Hyrule's magic blast. I gave them to everyone so we should be safe enough." Legend said, knowing he would need to explain to these two.

Twilight looked at the necklace with a grin. "Legend, just how many of these do you have?"

"Oh shut up Twilight, my collecting magic items has saved your ungrateful life more than once, just do as I say and put it on!"

Legend threw another necklace to Sky, and one to Four. Then he reached into his bag to pull out what looked like a thin golden stick. He snapped it in half and a golden spark arched into the air in Hyrule's direction.

--

Hyrule was on edge waiting for Legend's signal. He knew not to touch the magic staff until it was time.

He was nervously running his hand down the flat of his sword when Legend's sparkly signal landed on the magic staff with an anything but subtle boom.

Hyrule grabbed the staff and lept to the top of the boulder. As soon as he touched the smooth silver surface and focused on the spell of flames, a ginormous fountain of fire erupted from the end of the staff.

Hyrule Poured all of his magic into this staff. It spat flames 10 times as big and hot as Hyrule normally could.

He decimated the battlefield with this one last devastating attack.

"Holy Hylia this thing is hot!" Hyrule yelled as he burned the monsters to a crisp with a single blast in their direction.

Hyrule felt his energy wane after the drastic drain of power. The horde let out their final screeches of agony before disappearing in puffs of purple and black smoke just as Hyrule's magic gave out, and he slumped in exhaustion, dropping staff.

"That. Was. AWESOME!" Wind howled in delight as he ran over to Hyrule.

The others made their way across the scorched battlefield in various stages of shock, awe, and exhaustion.

Legend packed away the staff in his virtually bottomless bag while Hyrule chugged an energy recovery potion and asked, "Where did you get that thing, and why didn't I know it existed?!"

Legend looked up at Hyrule. "It doesn't matter where I got it, you don't want to know. The only thing that matters is that it's dangerous if used too much. I have only ever used it once and it nearly killed me because I don't have the natural magic you do."

Everyone seemed satisfied with that answer, and potions were handed out to anyone who was injured.

Warriors was cleaning off his sword when his head shot up abruptly and said, "Wait. Sky, Didn't you say something about archers?"

Not a minute after the words left his mouth there was a cry of pain from Twilight.

They all turned around to see Twilight with 2 black shafted arrows jutting out of his back.

--

Twilight barely heard the others yell in alarm as the searing pain ripped through his leather chest guard and he fell to his knees. He vaguely noticed Time charging over to him at top speed, and killing the lone Lizalfo archer with one blow.

Huh. I hope Time remembers to clean his armor properly. He thought to himself as his vision clouded over and he descended into darkness.
