Chapter 3
Shinichi /Conan came to know about Kaito's mother's sudden death. He went to meet him.
'I hope he doesn't do anything rash.'
Kaito opened the door a few seconds later as soon as Conan pressed the bell.
"Ah! Ku…Conan-kun?!" Kaito was shocked to see the little Tentei-kun suddenly at his house.
"Can I come in?" Conan asked him.
"Yes of course."
They both went inside. The house was a mess.
"Aoko-Neechan?" Conan called Aoko who was making something in kitchen.
"Ah! Conan-kun, what are you doing here?" she was shocked to him as well she came in the hall. She had only met him at Kaito Kid's heists.
"I came to meet Kaito-Niisan." He said in a bit of childish tone which now sound more matured.
But, she always wondered if he is really just a normal child.
"I heard about Chikago-san's death. So, I came to meet Kaito-Niisan and see if he is doing well." He smiled sadly.
"I see. Arigatou, Conan-kun." She smiled back.
"No, thanks to Aoko-Neechan for taking care of Kaito-Niisan when he needed you."
Aoko didn't spoke anything but her cheeks turned a tint of red and Kaito was embarrassed as well.
"Aoko, bring something for Conan-kun to eat." Kaito said to break the embarrassment.
She nodded and went back in the kitchen. Kaito and Conan went in Kaito's room.
"Kuroba, are you fine?" he asked rather in a low tone so Aoko would not be able to hear what they are speaking.
Kaito nodded as he looked down at the floor.
"Kuroba, I can understand how you are feeling right now. I cannot reduce your pain. But I can assure you that we will do anything to take revenge."
"Arigatou, Kudo!" Kaito forced a flat smile.
Shinichi smiled as he gave an assuring nod.
"Conan-kun, here're your snacks." Aoko entered with plates for Conan and Kaito.
"Arigato Neechan!" he thanked her and Aoko smiled in return.
"I will just come. I have to call Jii-san." Kaito told them as he went outside the room.
Aoko was looking worried about Kaito.
"Aoko-neechan?" Conan called for her.
"Huh?"
"You are worried about Kaito-niisan, ne?"
"Haai. I have been with him since we were kids. We have been together through a lot. When his dad died, he was broken 'cause he loved and adored his dad more than anyone else, then his mom left him alone and went to Las Vegas. And now, he lost the only family he had. He is alone and I'm really worried about him." Aoko told him.
"As long as Aoko-neechan is there with him, I am not worried about Kaito-niisan." Conan smiled at her as she looked at him. "Kaito-niisan can rely on you Aoko-neechan. Though he always fight with you, tease you, I can tell that he loves you a lot and really care for you. So, Kaito-niisan is not alone till you are with him and I know that you will never let him be alone 'cause you love him too."
Aoko was speechless. This little kid was able to understand her feelings so purely though they are not that close.
"Jaa, I shall take my leave now. Jaa ne, Aoko-neechan." Conan bid her goodbye. "Kaito-niichan, I am leaving." He shouted.
"Ah, jaa ne!" Kaito came to bid him goodbye.
"Jaa ne Conan-kun, come again when you want to." Aoko smiled at him.
"Hai! Take care you two." he smiled and left.
"Ne Kaito, Conan-kun is really matured than the other children of his age." Aoko said.
"Hmm." Kaito just hummed.
"Jaa, I will also go home for now."
"Ah, hai. Jaa ne!" she went inside to gather her things.
Kaito called Kudo.
"Gomen Kudo, Aoko was here so I was not able to ask you about Organization and stuff." Kaito spoke to him. Meanwhile, Aoko came and she over hear their conversation.
"Let's meet again tomorrow and talk about it." Saying this he cut the call.
Aoko's POV:
Kudo? When did he come while I was around? Conan-kun came just now. Maybe Conan-kun is this Kudo guy. Demo (But), how is it possible? Kudo Shinichi is of our age. I don't get anything.
"Bye bye Kaito!" I said as I left.
"Bye"
I don't understand about what Kaito was speaking. What kind of organization? Should I talk to Kaito?
I went to my home.
Near Kaito and Aoko's house:
There was black car near their house. The person on the car dialed a number.
"Boss, I searched about the woman and her child in the photo. The woman was Nakamori Keibu's wife, Nakamori Takako. So, it means that the child is Nakamori Aoko. She has Pandora."
"Well done Snake. Keep a close watch on that Nakamori girl." The other person on the phone said.
"Roger that!" saying that he cut the call.
Kudo's Mansion-:
Ran was standing outside the Kudo's Mansion. A few days ago Ran got call from Kauzha-chan telling about Akai Shuichi.
-Flashback-
*ring ring*
"Moshi moshi, Kazuha-chan?" Ran said picking up the call.
"Ran-chan, I heard something from Heiji." The Osakan girl said.
"About Shinichi?" she asked hoping that she will get some information about him.
"Not about Shinichi-kun but related to him." Kazuha told her.
"What?" she asked.
"The man named Okiya Subaru, who is living in Kudo-kun's house as a university student is actually FBI Officer Akai Shuichi in disguise." Kazuha informed her. "I heard Heiji talking to Kudo-kun on phone."
"But wasn't Akai Shuichi dead?" Ran asked.
"I don't know anything about that. It seems like he faked death." Kazuha said.
"Arigatou Kazuha-chan for helping me." Ran thanked her.
"It's okay Ran-chan. I will try my best to help you with anything related to Kudo-kun. Jaa mata ne!"
"Thanks. Mata ne!" saying this Ran cut the call.
-Flashback Ends-
Thinking what to do Ran stood there outside the door for a minute. Gathering all the courage, she rang the bell.
*ding dong*
"Hai hai." Subaru-san's voice came from inside. He opened the door.
"Ah, Ran-san!" he greeted Ran with a smile. "Come in."
"Arigatou!" ran followed him inside the house.
"You came after a while in this house." He said.
"Hai." She said shyly.
"It felt good that somebody came to visit me." He smiled.
"I had some work with you." Ran looked at him. "Akai-san."
He looked at Ran and smirked.
"So, you saw through my disguise. As expected from the daughter of Famous Detective Mouri Kogoro." He said adjusting his glasses.
"You can say that. I don't know what your reasons for hiding in a different disguise are but I think it is somehow related to Shinichi. "
"And why do you think so?" he asked her.
"I just wanna know where Shinichi is. Also, what is relation between Shinichi and Conan-kun."
"I don't know Ran-san."
"You know it. Akai-san, you know but you don't want to tell me." Ran went near him and stood in front of him.
"How can you say that I know about Shinichi-kun?"
"You can say that I have got information from somewhere Akai-san, please tell me about Shinichi. I beg you." Ran became teary.
"Gomen Ran-san, I don't know want to lie to you because you resemble HER. Sorry because I can't tell you anything as I am on a mission. But I can tell you one thing. Keep on believing him. He needs people to trust him. Moreover, he wants Ran-san to trust him."
"I also want to believe in him Akai-san. I want to trust him. But how can I do so without even knowing where he is and what he is doing? Moreover, he is not even telling me anything."
"Because he doesn't want to worry about him. Right now I can just tell you that he is fighting hard to save the people close to him. So please wait for him."
Ran couldn't say anything. She was not able to interpret what Akai-san said. Now she became more curious about the entire situation. There were lot of questions in her mind and she was not able to get any answers for that.
"Who you were talking about Akai-san when you said that I resemble HER?" Ran asked.
"About my dead girlfriend." He replied.
"Sorry!"
"It's okay. But can I ask you a favour?" Akai asked.
"I won't say anything about you to anyone Akai-san, this will be within us. Don't worry." Saying this Ran left the house.
Akai Shuichi let out a big sigh. He took his cell phone and typed a message.
'Stay alert Kudo-kun. Ran-san has got suspicious about you.'
At night in Mouri's apartment-:
"Tadaima!" Conan said as he returned.
"Okaeri Conan-kun." Ran cheerfully welcomed him.
She was trying to be normal.
"Conan-kun can you give me your clothes that you need to clean? I am going to take them to laundry." Ran asked him.
"Hai. I will bring them." Saying this he went in his room and came with 2-3 pairs of cloths.
"Arigatou. Are you hungry Conan-kun?" she asked.
"Not now. I will eat later."
"Okay." She took the cloths and went in her room.
She was checking pockets of his dresses if anything is left in it. In one of his jeans, she found an envelope. The envelope read; 'To Kudo Shinichi'. Ran became more curious now. Why was the letter referring to Shinichi in Conan-kun's pocket? She opened the envelope.
It read:
Dear Silver Bullet,
The organization is having a recheck of the people who were given the drug, Apotoxin 4869. Gin now knows about the side-effects of that drug and he suspects that Sherry has taken the same drug and ran in shrunken state. He is trying to find her as soon as possible. So you better take care of Sherry and yourself, and don't forget about Angel. If your parents are not here then Gin will obviously hunt Angel because you two are very close.
Vermouth
It was the letter that Vermouth gave to Conan. The situation became more complicated for Ran. What kind of drug? Who are Sherry and Gin? Why she is referring Shinichi as Silver Bullet? Who is Angel? Close to Shinichi after his parent means, is it about me?
Angel.
She had heard this name before. Someone had called her Angel a few times. It was when she was trying to save Ai-chan from a woman who was trying to kill Ai-chan.
'Move away, Angel!'
She remembered the case in New York where she and Shinichi met Yuriko-san's friend who was an actress named Sharon Vineyard. That Sharon Vineyard had once called her Angel. There must be any relation between Sharon Vineyard and this woman named Vermouth. She was certain that this letter was written by this Vermouth who tried to kill Ai-chan.
But she had got one answer. Her suspicions of Conan being Shinichi can be true if he has given this drug called Apotoxin 4869. This may lead her somewhere. She had finally come to know that Conan IS Shinichi.
