Time kept passing by. Marlow watched as Seth slowly found his footing in his life while being alone. She kept expecting him to jump into bed with a new woman but nothing like that ever happened. He stayed single, and it actually looked like he was thriving once he got past his fear of being alone.
"It's been over two months," Drew said.
"I know," Marlow said.
"Nearly three," he said.
"God, I hate that you're here today," she smirked.
"Do you want them to go back to brand split PPVs? I found that kinda sad," he said.
"No," she said. "I just want them to get rid of you."
"That's mean," he pouted.
She leaned her head on his shoulder. He put his arm around her shoulders, and they sat there side by side while watching the people work around the ring. It was early afternoon, and the doors hadn't opened for the audience yet.
"Remember when people started rumors about us being together because someone had taken a picture of us sitting like this?" She asked.
"That was so funny. I just started dating my wife back then, and no one knew she was the one in the photo on the seat next to me," he said.
"She's never been the jealous type," she said.
"I'm pretty sure she would leave my ass for you. She loves you," he laughed.
She raised her head and grinned at him. His eyes wandered down to the ring again.
"There he is," he said.
She looked down and saw that Seth was in there going over some moves with Cesaro.
"He looks good," he said.
"He's happy," she said,
"What about you?" He asked.
She looked at him. He wasn't smiling anymore. He wanted a serious answer.
"I don't know," she sighed.
"Yes, you do," he said.
"I'm happy enough," she shrugged.
"But you're not truly happy without him, are you?" He asked.
"I told him to learn to live on his own. What type of fucked up person would go back on those words? I don't wanna destroy what he's built up for himself," she said.
"You didn't tell him to be alone forever. You told him to prove to himself that he can live alone, and he has. It might only have been three months, but when have you ever seen Seth fly solo for more than a week? It has never happened. Remember how everyone joked about that back on the indi scenes as well. He never stayed single because he was scared shitless of being alone," he said.
He pointed his hand out towards the ring.
"Look at him, Marlow. Really fucking look at him. He's like you. He's happy with his life but he's never gonna be truly happy without you. You two belong together so figure it out," he said.
"But..." She tried.
"Becky's gone. She already moved on. She's dating that actor now. I forgot his name. It doesn't matter. Seth is paying child support but that's it. There's not gonna be any baby drama. And if Becky gets her happy ending with that actor dude, he might end up adopting the kid so Seth is completely off the hook. That's the best happy ending you can get here," he said.
"Sometimes I almost hate you," she said.
"Almost," he grinned. "You can never hate me, love. Go chase your happy ending. You fucking deserve it."
Marlow felt nervous that night. The PPV had gone by great, and everyone was back at the hotel. She wasn't planning on going to sleep just yet. She had made it up to Seth's room and was standing nervously outside. She finally raised her hand to knock but the door opened before she could do so. Seth looked at her, then at her balled up fist still in the air, then back at her.
"Are you planning on punching me?" He asked.
She blushed and quickly put her hand back down.
"I was about to knock," she said.
"I figured. I'm just messing with you," he said.
"Are you going somewhere?" She asked.
"I thought a walk in the cool night might help me sleep. I feel restless tonight," he said.
"It makes sense with that nasty bump you took on the steel steps," she said.
"It's not the pain keeping me awake. It's the thought of you," he said. "Which leads me to this question. Why are you here?"
She fiddled with her sleeve. It was harder than she thought. She turned her eyes to the floor.
"I miss you," she mumbled.
"I didn't catch that," he said.
"I miss you," she said a bit louder.
She raised her eyes and looked at him again.
"I never stopped loving you. I know you followed me on social medias, so you know there never was someone else. I was too hurt to ever want to put myself out there again. And the fact that I can't fucking stop loving you wouldn't be fair to put on a new partner. No one would ever measure up to you," she said.
"Are you asking me to take you back?" He smirked.
"I don't know. Maybe. Yes," she answered.
"I don't know. I learned lately that I actually like being on my own," he said.
Her heart dropped in her chest. She couldn't answer so all she did was nod. His facial expression dropped.
"No, no, no," he quickly said. "I didn't mean it. I thought it was a cute joke. I thought you would laugh. I fucked up again."
He grabbed her face and kissed her.
"Please, tell me I didn't just fuck up everything," he begged.
"You did," she smirked. "But I know a way you can fix it."
He smirked back and pulled her into his hotel room. He kissed her again and kicked the door shut behind him.
"Clothes! Off!" He growled.
"What happened to enjoying your own company?" She teased.
"Kitten, I've been masturbating more than any man ever should since I lost you. That fucking ends tonight," he said. "But first, let me get you out of these clothes and show you how much I've missed you."
He ran his tongue up her throat and caught her earlobe with his teeth. His hands ran over her hips, around her and grabbed her ass. She shivered from every little thing he did.
"You've missed this, haven't you?" He hummed. "You've missed my tongue and how it can make you fall apart within two minutes."
"So much," she confessed.
"I'm gonna make sure you feel it for a long time. I'll have you a dripping mess once I'm done," he said. "Down on the bed, kitten. Right fucking now!"
