Hello everybody. Chapter two is being started the day after I finished the first chapter. I plan to be working as hard as I can to bring you guys a quality fanfic with chapters coming out in quick succession. Before we start I feel like I should clarify a few things. 1: AkaShirome was not chunin level. The fight with Mizuki was a strange case scaling wise, as Mizuki was extremely cocky and holding back. Had he been fighting at full power, AkaShirome would've lost easily. 2: the winner of the last chapter's poll has been announced. The winner is... No one. The option that won was the option for me to not do any romantic pairings. This brings into fruition probably one of the more unique storylines I had ready. If you picked any of the other options (besides maybe karin but only one person voted for her so) all i would've had to do was do some team swapping and we're good. This one will be fun for reasons you'll see in this chapter.
Chapter two: the ANBU with the tengu mask
Four years had passed since the events of the uchiha massacre. Since then AkaShirome has been training hard with his byakugan. Not to mention his ninjutsu and taijutsu have improved greatly. Today was the day of the academy graduation ceremony. His entire class had passed with the exception of Naruto Uzumaki. "Bye AkaShirome" the boy's mother exclaimed
"Bye mom!" the boy yelled back. 'Mom isn't smiling today. I heard today was the day the parents of the class would smile and praise their children. But mom hasn't smiled since that day' the boy thought sadly. Of course he hasn't smiled at all either, but to him that didn't matter. All that mattered was the smile of his mom and others. To get that he would become a ninja everybody could rely on without having to worry. He walked to the school in order to see what team he would be assigned too. When he walked into the classroom he saw a certain spikey blond yelling about how he managed to become a genin.
"How the hell did you pass? Kiba said loudly
"Hehe. Now that I'm a genin, nothing will stop me from becoming hokage! Believe it!" Naruto proclaimed
"Like hell you will. I'm going to become hokage, not some loser like you," then iruka walked into the classroom.
"Calm down Kiba. You know saying you're going to become hokage isn't something that can be said lightly. Anybody who says that must be willing to do anything for that goal. So naruto. Are you prepared for that goal?" Iruka said
"You better believe it!" Naruto exclaimed loudly.
"Alright everybody! Sit down. It's time to explain the teams" the teacher said "Shino, Hinata, and Kiba. you three will make up team 8"
"Great, I get stuck with the quiet girl and a bug catcher" Kiba mumbled to himself.
"Next up is Ino, Choji, and Shikamaru"
"But I wanna be on Sasuke's team." Ino said loudly
"Too bad ino-pig" sakura said victoriously
"Next up. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke" iruka said
"Hey, hey, Iruka sensei! Why should a exceptional individual such as myself pair with a loser such as Sasuke" Naruto yelled annoyingly
"You placed dead last in class while Sasuke placed second." Iruka explained to the loud boy
"Wait. everyone's gotten into a three man team except me. There's an odd number of students that graduated. What is this supposed to mean?" AkaShirome inquired
"Ah right. See you passed with the highest marks in the class, and while you were supposed to be on team 10 replacing choji. And Choji being on team seven instead of naruto." Iruka explained
"Then what team am I going to be on?" AkaShirome asked
"Right I should explain that," Iruka then said, "due to the extra student passing as well as you having the highest grades in the class. Lord third has allowed you to go straight into the ANBU black ops"
"But sensei. If I go straight to the ANBU then i won't have a jonin teacher to help me grow" AkaShirome spoke up
"Right, that brings me to the second bit. While you will be a part of the ANBU, you still count as a genin and must take the tests to rank up. As you are still technically a genin, you will be accompanying various other genin teams on missions in order to train with them and their teachers to grow stronger" Iruka explained
"Ah, that makes sense, I guess" AkaShirome said, "I guess that makes me one step closer to being an extraordinary ninja. Does my mother know about this?"
"Your mom already knows about it. She was notified the night before"
'Is that why she looked so sad?' AkaShirome asked himself
"Alright, everybody will wait here for their jounin sensei. AkaShirome will go to the hokage office to go get initiated into the ANBU''
"Yes Iruka sensei" the boy walked out of the classroom. Even though he wanted to be known as a dependable and great ninja. He didn't want to be alienated right off the bat. He was lost in thought when he approached the hokage's office. 'Here I am' he thought to himself. He entered the building and entered the hokage's office
"Ah, you're here" Hiruzen said calmly
"Uh, right Iruka said I was to report to you"
"That's right. Normally we would initiate you right now, but you have a mission to attend to."
"Eh? Already?"
"Yes. you will be assisting team 2 in a mission to Amegakure, you will be attempting to escort a ninja there to this village as a diplomat" Hiruzen explained
"Sounds interesting" AkaShirome said
"Here is your mask." Hiruzen handed over a red tengu mask, "you will wear this whenever you are on a mission. You must never show your face to a member of another village" hiruzen continued
"Understood lord third" he put on the mask. "Hey, this looks pretty cool" he said as he looked at his reflection in the window.
"Now go to the gates of the village. Team two is waiting for you there" hiruzen said
"Yes lord third" he said before going to the balcony and leaping off.
"I hope he does okay. Maybe I shouldn't have let Danzo convince me so easily. I do think I put enough caveats to keep him safe," lord third said to himself. AkaShirome rushed to the gate, leaping from rooftop to rooftop.
"Ah he's here" Might Guy said
"Who's here?" some kid with bushy eyebrows said
"I am" AkaShirome appeared behind him suddenly. 'Camouflage jutsu sure is fun' he thought to himself
"ah , you must be the ANBU Guy sensei said would be coming with us." tenten said
"Yes, I am" AkaShirome said
"I don't know why you're here. We're perfectly capable of doing this mission by ourselves," neji said
"That's not why I'm here. I was told to accompany you guys as a way to learn and train. Since I'm still technically a genin I'm supposed to be learning from jounin sensei" AkaShirome explained. He started activating his byakugan from under his mask.
'Interesting. Tenten seems to have grown a bit since the last time I saw her. The boy with the eyes like mine seems extremely strong if you judge him by his chakra points. And as for the kid with the bushy brows, he was suddenly shocked. He has zero chakra running though his body. How the hell did he make it as a ninja?'
"Alright. Let's get going to Amegakure," might guy said. The team went off to their destination. Some time during their walks tenten said
"Say, you sound really familiar. I just can't tell from where. What's your name?" AkaShirome thought to himself
'If i recall correctly, an ANBU can't state their name while on a mission'
"Sorry, I can't tell you my real name. But I'll tell you a code name I came up with. Just call me Odd-Eyes" Akashirome said. He came up with his code name as a reference to his name and heritage.
"You know. I had a friend at the academy who wore a white with red stripes kimono just like you. He just graduated today." tenten said.
"Oh. he sounds like he'll become a wonderful and amazing shinobi" AkaShirome joked to himself
"I'm sure he will. He was always so gung-ho about learning and getting stronger. Not to mention his goal to become a sannin is awesome. Someone with drive like that will definitely become a great shinobi" tenten praised
"Now that sounds like a guy who will enjoy the joy of youth" might guy said
'Thanks tenten and guy sensei' AkaShirome thought 'to know that you guys believe in my dream too gives me a lot of confidence'
"Alright we'll be approaching Amegakure tomorrow. Let's camp here tonight." The sun was starting to set.
"Sounds good to me," Tenten said.
"Rest is an important part of training. So I'm down," Rock Lee said. They all set up the tents. With Tenten in one. Rock Lee and Might Guy in another. And with Neji and AkaShirome in the last one. They all ate dinner and went into their tents.
"Tell me, Tengu mask. Or should I say AkaShirome. Why did you not tell us your name" Neji said
"Heh. your byakugan really is as good as they say." he takes the mask off. "But how did you know it was me specifically. You've never seen my face before." he said
"Simple. Tenten used to talk about a pale boy who was in the year lower than her. She said that that person graduated today. I do wonder why you become ANBU right off the bat though." Neji pondered
"Iruka and lord third said it was because there was an uneven number of genin. I did the best out of the whole class so I was sent straight to ANBU on the stipulation that all my missions were to be carried out with genin teams with a jonin leader. As soon as I pass the chunin exams I can do missions with the rest of the ANBU." AkaShirome explained.
"I guess that makes sense. Let's go to bed now. We need to be up early for the mission" Neji said
"Sounds good to me" AkaShirome responded. They slept the night away. In the morning Might Guy woke them up by saying,
"Wake up! Let's not waste the springtime of youth!" he said making his signature "nice guy" pose
"Ugh. It's five AM. Do I look like a farmer?" AkaShirome complained.
"You get used to it. He's always getting us up early to "not waste the springtime of youth"." Neji explained.
"Sounds like a pain" AkaShirome said, getting up and putting on his mask and kimono.
"It is." Neji said. They both got out of the tent and ate the breakfast Guy prepared. It was some weird omelette with a bunch of stuff in it.
"Alight. We should reach Amegakure by noon." Tenten said, looking at a map. So they went the rest of the way to Amegakure, the village hidden in the rain. When they got to the gates there were already some people waiting for them. A boy who seemed a bit older than AkaShirome was being surrounded by two people in black cloaks with red clouds.
"Akatsuki. Isn't this a C-B ranked mission? This makes no sense." AkaShirome said
"Yeah. This might be an issue. It is possible that the person we are delivering lied about the mission." Might Guy said. Neji activated his byakugan
"Judging by the chakra flowing through them and all akatsuki members being S ranked bingo book criminals. They must only be 5-10% clones." Neji stated
"Alright. Only 5-10. This shouldn't be too bad." Rock Lee said.
"Yeah. 5-10% of some of the most notorious criminals in the world." AkaShirome said, sort of scared.
"Don't worry. If anything goes wrong I'll jump in to help. I trust you will be able to do this alone, as this will be some decent training. But rest assured. I'll jump in the minute things go south." as they walked towards the men in cloaks they turned around and AkaShirome saw one of the man's blood red eyes.
"Ah shit." he said paralyzed in fear. He knew this man. This was the man who killed his father, of course he didn't know at the time of his death. But he learned shortly after. This man's name was "Itachi Uchiha" AkaShirome said, with a newfound courage in his body. "Today's the day I get my revenge. Even if it's just a shadow clone, I'll kill it so that my father can rest in peace." AlaShirome said
"Alright, Tenten, you go get the ambassador, while Rock Lee and Neji will go fight the other man, and AkaShirome will go fight Itachi Uchiha." Might Guy directed. They all ran forward to their targets. AkaShirome activated his byakugan from behind the mask and started gentle fisting Itachi. "Humph. I'm guessing you're a hyuga under the mask, seeing as you have the gentle fist technique." Itachi said, flawlessly dodging every blow.
"Well you're half right." He leaped back and started some hand signs. "Fire style: fire ball jutsu!" he yelled as soon as he finished the signs.
"Impressive. A nature transformation like that should drain an impressive amount of chakra. And yet you don't appear to be sweating at all. Must be the hyuga chakra control I've heard so much about." he said immediately after dodging the fire ball.
"Dammit. You sure are strong. Even if it's just 10%" AkaShirome said
"It's actually seven percent. We didn't expect any strong shinobi to come so we kept it low. Looks like we made the right call, huh Kisame." Itachi explained
"Yeah. although it's a bit weird how samehada isn't absorbing a single bit of chakra from the green suit guy. It's almost like he has none to begin with. HA!" the man named Kisame spoke. Itatchi then threw several kunai at AkaShirome while he had his guard down. Two hit his mask, breaking it in half, while one of them hit his left shoulder, and the other hitting his left knee.
"GAH!" he pulls out the two kunai, writing in pain. he starts doing some hand signs. "Wind style: Tailwind jutsu" he started manipulating the air currents using his wind chakra to create a strong tailwind doubling his speed. "8 trigrams: 32 palms" he said as rushed towards Itachi
'Shit, he's way faster than before.' Itachi thought to himself. His body suddenly flickered out of the attack range.
"Such measly speed will never defeat me. You're weak. You talked about revenge earlier, what was that about?" Itachi asked
"Simple. Four years ago you killed my father in the uchiha massacre. He had left your clan and wasn't even a part of the Uchiha coupe plan. He was an innocent man that you killed. And now I'll defeat this clone so that I can go on a path to kill the real you." AkaShirome said
"Oh. you're that kid huh. Maybe I should explain why I didn't kill you there. There were two scenarios that could've happened in your life. One. you get the byakugan as you did. I don't have to kill you in this scenario since you don't have the sharingan. The second scenario is you have the sharingan. In this scenario you come to kill me for killing your father and I kill you. Although it seems that what happened has been a mix of the events" Itachi explained
"Yeah. I'm that kid. And the reason you spared me will be the reason you die." Itachi suddenly goes behind AkaShirome as he throws a shuriken in the Byakugan blind spot. But right before it could hit a small wall of aluminum dust popped up to shield it.
"You're welcome," the man at the gates said.
"Ah, thanks you really saved me." AkaShirome said
"Don't worry about it. My name is Hiko Weisgami. I'm the guy you're supposed to take to the leaf." he explained
"Yeah I'm kind of busy, can we talk later?" AkaShirome said
"Sure. I'll try to block as many fatal hits as I can with my aluminum" he said
"Fine, I'll just have to take out the aluminum guy. We were supposed to take him out before you guys came here." he started rushing towards Hiko with a kunai in hand. This was faster than Hiko could respond with his Aluminum.
'No, I can't let another innocent person die to him. I refuse to let more people die to this monster. I'm going to be a splendid ninja so that my dad will be proud of me!' "I won't let more people die!" suddenly AkaShirome's vision became extremely blurry, as his byakugan faded from his eyes, being replaced by a blood red pupil with comma shapes surrounding it. Suddenly everything seemed to slow down. It slowed down just enough for him to grab a kunai and disarm Itachi with it.
"How? You had the byakugan not the sharingan? It's impossible to have both."
"I have no fucking clue how I have both. All I know is that I will use both to defeat you." he suddenly swapped to his byakugan and started weaving hand signs. "Eight trigrams: 32 gale palms!" He started slamming gale palm after gale palm into Itachi's clone body, eventually the clone reached its limit and poofed away. At the same time, Rock Lee and Neji had managed to beat their clone, the tide being turned due to Tenten arriving to provide some extra help.
"Alright you need to explain why there were two akatsuki members on a C ranked mission." Might Guy scolded
"right. I probably should. See, I couldn't go out and say what the mission was due to him watching. So I had to disguise it as an ambassador attempt instead of what it really is. Of course he figured it out and sent those two to try and kill me before I could leave." Hiko explained
"Who's he?' Tenten asked
"The leader of the akatsuki. He's been controlling Amegakure from the shadows. I plan on going to the leaf to tell the third about it. That's why I needed bodyguards." Hiko explained further.
"I see. We'll get you there quickly so that we can return before stronger clones, or even the real thing shows up." Might Guy said. They then spent the rest of the day and the next night getting back to Konoha. AkaShirome was put into the hospital for a little bit in order to recover. When he got up after resting there was Might Guy standing by his bed. "So. If you truly wish to beat Itachi Uchiha then you must get stronger." he said
"Yeah. I'm aware." AkaShirome said
"Well them. While watching you I saw that your general fighting style involved skilled and precise taijutsu attacks, using different jutsu in order to boost your speed and attack potency. So, as a taijutsu expert, I have decided to train you in order to help you achieve your dream to become a sannin and to defeat Itachi." He talked
"Seeing as I was barely able to defeat the 7% clone, I'll need all the training I can get. So I'll train with you guys in between missions." AkaShirome said
"Alright, then the minute you're out of the hospital you come down to training ground 4. You'll find us there." Might guy said
I would like to give a big thanks to my friend for letting me use his OC in this story. I decided to make a few tweaks due to needing him for future plot points. I made him younger (around 1-2 years older then AkaShirome) also he's not a jounin in this story, I decided to make him a genin for a certain reason later on. Thank you for reading chapter two and sorry for the wait. I was a bit busy and the times I could write I had writer's block.
