Then something. Thunder. I opened my eyes slowly. Rain beating down on my face. I felt strange. My limbs tingled, especially in my fingers. I slowly turn my head, I'm still out in the field. The sun gone and the moon in the sky. The tree nearby not as large as I last saw it. The grass only marked by my body and my wand lying next to me. no sign of anyone ever being here. I'm in the past then.
As I try to sit up a stinging feeling in my chest reminds me of The Turner deeply embedded into my chest. I reach for my wand and watch as the skin around it slowly stitches itself closed. Although another thing I notice is my chest is a lot smaller. Then I notice my hands too. In fact, All of me is smaller. I must've de-aged on the way. I can worry about that later though. Pieces of the Turner that I had pulled from my person. I bundle them together in a ripped up segment of my dress. It takes me some time, but I manage to get over to the tree and bury the pieces. I shrink my dress for comfort.
Now what. I work my brain quickly for an answer. Dumbledore? No, he'd use what I know for his own gain. Though the dark A light turns on the in house on the hill. Maybe I should seek out help there. A child out in the rain, I could say I'm lost. So that's what I do. I stand but stop myself. The wand in my hand. This could give me away. It did not belong here. Not yet. I point my wand to the tree and drill into it Making a hole so that if I need too I can pull the wand from it's safe place in the tree. "I'll come back for you." I promise. Confident that nobody will find it I turn and begin my trek up the hill.
Once I reach the house I begin running at the door but I'm stopped. An older lady with dark hair stood there holding her arm out for me. "I know who you are. I am here to help. Hermione, quickly I need a name for you." I think to the stars. To Draco. "Ara but how..." the woman shushes me. "All will be explained." The woman knocks on the door, after a moment it opens slowly. A woman peaked her head around. "Good evening Mrs. Lupin. May we come in?" the woman nodded. We stand in the kitchen. "Apologies for Ara. She fell on our way up the hill. This may come as a bit of a shock, but Ara here is your husbands Niece. Is he around?" The woman shakes her head. "He's on a work trip why?" The strange woman hands over an envelope. "Ara's mother, Kathryn died last night. They were both coming home from a friend's wedding... Ara was injured and doesn't remember a great deal but apart from that she's unharmed." Hope reads the document and holds her hand over her mouth. "I.. I didn't know he had a sister?" The strange woman pulls her wand out very subtly and waves it by her side. "No?" She raises her eyebrow. "Kat. Yes, he didn't get along with her... she didn't like me very much." A memory charm.
Her eyes fall on me. A small girl with lost eyes covered in mud. "How about I run you a bath and get your something warmer to wear?" I nod. Mrs. Lupin disappears for a moment. "Once you're out the bath and dressed open the door slightly and call for me by the name Jean." My mother's name. I eye her suspiciously and she looks down at me knowingly. "I'll come put a glamour on you. make you look more like a Lupin." Before I could ask anything hope returned to pull me into the washroom. The hot water felt amazing. Disturbed only by the Questions that ran through my mind. Who was that woman? Why is she helping me? Why the Lupin's? How do I get home? Can I get home? I shake my head pulling myself from the bath grabbing the fluffy towel from the rack and drying off. Once I'm dressed in the clothes provided by Mrs. Lupin a pair of loose plaid Pj bottoms and a black t-shirt and a kitted jumper. As Instructed, I opened the door and called out for 'Jean'.
I heard her excuse herself and her enter the bathroom. "Perfect now let's get you glamoured." She pulled out her wand and before I could argue began anchoring a glamour to my magical core. I watch the in the mirror as my dark brown curls soften into a loose curl and turn dirty blonde. My shifting from brown to a hazel. "I'm sorry about all the secrecy Ara. Your eleven years old. Everything else you don't know can be explained away by your memory loss. In a month or so your letter for Hogwarts will be delivered." I nod understanding her. "Everything has already happened you coming here has already happened." I nod again in agreement. "How do you know all this?" The woman checks her watch sighing. "There isn't enough time... I... it's probably a story best lived yeah? Just try and live your life the best you can." Before I can ask anything else she opens the bathroom door and leads me out. "Mrs. Lupin I best be off. Please do get Lyall to sign that document if he does wish to adopt Ara. Soon as he does the copy at my office should sigh itself and that is that. If not, well I'll come collect her." The small blonde woman nods with a smile shaking her hand. "Oh, please I'm sure Lyall is going to be so overjoyed to see her once he's back." With that the woman opened the door but turned one last time to me. "Bye Ara." I wave goodbye and with that the door closes softly with a click.
Hope quickly to introduce herself to me and bundled up some blankets to make a bed on the sofa. "Soon as Lyall is home we'll get you set up somewhere properly. That lady jean sent an owl to notify him that your here so soon as he's got it, he'll probably rush back to see you." The woman tucked me in softly. Humming a soft tune. "Good night Ara." Suddenly I found myself drifting off to sleep.
