Jessica tugged at the cuffs, trying to find some loophole in that she could break free of them and escape. Kilgrave had left and Jessica was glad. She didn't want to deal with him right now. She needed to focus on finding a way out of here. The only thing holding her down was these cuffs; literally.

Jessica was sure though that Kilgrave had some safeguard in place for if she did escape. He didn't say what that was but there was no doubt that if she was able to free herself, someone would off themselves or harm another person. As much as Jessica didn't want anyone else to die at the hands of this monster, she couldn't stay here, not after everything she had been through and the longer she was here, the more Kilgrave had time to find a way of controlling her. Once he had that power again, there was no going back.

She would be stuck in his shadow forever, never having an ounce of free will or freedom again. Kilgrave would make sure she would never get away. The chains rattled as Jessica tugged and pulled, hoping that whatever the chain was attached to could break from the force. Kilgrave had really thought this through. He learned from his mistake.

Jessica focused on freeing her hands first, then she could work on her ankles. The chains were attached underneath the bed. Jessica leant forward, turning her body as much as she could to get a look underneath and as she thought, the chain was wrapped around one of the bars of the bed and padlocked. If Jessica could break the bed, she might be able to slip the chain off the bar. Jessica reached underneath, trying to reach the bar so she could use her hand to break it in some way but it was proving difficult with the other hand being chained the other side.

She stretched her body as far as she could, her shoulder feeling as if it was going to pop out of it's socket from the awkward position she was in and again she tried to reach the bar. She hoped the force of pulling her other hand would break the other bar.

Suddenly the door opened and Jessica flopped back on the bed, the chains rattling as she leaned back, her eyes meeting the door assuming it would be Kilgrave but it wasn't. It was Dr Louis.

He gave her a soft smile and a short nod before shutting the door and walking over to the monitor to write down on his clipboard.

"You know he's controlling you" she said and the doctor glanced over at Jessica. He said nothing and went back to his board, ignoring her comment.

"You can't let him get to you, you have to fight back" the doctor let out a sigh and turned to Jessica.

"I'm just here to do my job" he said politely and turned back to the monitor.

"So he's not controlling you and you are actually going along with his sick plan to imprison me" anger boiled inside Jessica. Does this doctor have no respect for others?

"He offered me a high amount, I've been out of work for a while and I really need the money" Dr Louis said sadly, as if he was asking for sympathy.

"Oh boo hoo, we all have problems" Jessica sneered and her eyes looked over to the clipboard.

"What are you writing?" She asked. He seemed to be writing down a lot on the clipboard.

"I'm checking your vitals before we start testing, need to make sure there are no complications that could arise" he murmured, not looking up from the board.

Complications, what could he mean by that?

"What if you can't find anything, what if there's nothing wrong with me and he just can't control me… what's he going to do to you?" Jessica asked.

"I don't know" the doctor whispered. Dr Louis seemed a little nervous and he tried to focus on writing down her vitals. He wasn't lying, Kilgrave hadn't said what he'd do if he couldn't find a cure to Jessica's ability to not being controlled by him. All Kilgrave had offered was $500,000 in exchange for his expertise. Dr Louis would be lying if he said he wasn't afraid of Kilgrave. He knew not to get on the wrong side of him and to follow his orders, even if he wasn't being forced to.

"Look, I know you really don't want to do this, I can defeat Kilgrave, he has no power over me. If you help me I can help you with money, whatever other kind of problems you have I can help, just take me out of these and we can work together" Jessica said slowly, trying to convince Dr Louis that he was better off helping her than tormenting her.

Dr Louis turned to her, bringing down his glasses and rubbing his eyes.

"I know this is barbaric, but I've already agreed to do this and if I don't, something bad could happen to me, to my family" Dr Louis turned nervously to the door, as if to check that no one was there.

"If someone doesn't defeat him, anyone could get hurt, I'm the only person who can do that" Jessica urged. Once she'd be under his control, no one would be safe.

"I'm sorry" Dr Louis whispered and turned back to the monitor. Jessica sighed, her head falling on the pillow behind her. The doctor was stuck, Kilgrave had managed to convince him enough to actually help him in return for a wad of cash. Doctors, Jessica never trusted them.

Her only hope was to break free of the cuffs and make her own escape. She wasn't getting any help from the doctor and Kilgrave was obviously out of the question. The door opened loudly and Kilgrave strolled inside, grin on his face. Jessica glared at him, not giving him the satisfaction of her misery being here.

"How are we looking?" Kilgrave asked, referring to the doctor.

"I think we can start testing now, her vitals are in good condition so there should be a low chance of complications, we'll start of easy with some blood tests and possibly a few biopsies" Dr Louis said and Jessica bit her lip inside, her stomach churning. She was never a fan of needles and after all the injections she had been through when she was here before, it had put her off them.

"Well get on with it then" Kilgrave ordered, clearly a command and Dr Louis turned to the metal table on wheels, pulling it next to Jessica. He proceeded to take out equipment from one of the cupboards which consisted of needles, syringes, a tourniquet, small bottles with some labels on, a scalpel, a glass pad and sterile wipes.

Jessica's heart started to beat fast and sweat was forming on her forehead as panic set inside her. Anytime she even saw a needle, it brought back memories that she didn't want to relive.

"Oh that's right, you're not the biggest fan of needles, if you want you can hold my hand" Kilgrave said softly, his eyes big and soft as he stood beside Jessica. Jessica scoffed, her hands gripping tightly.

"In your dreams asshole" she snorted back. Jessica looked out the corner of her eye, Dr Louis getting ready for taking the first blood test. He snapped on a pair of latex gloves and took one of the sterile wipes. He gently took Jessica's arm to turn it over but she flinched and pulled back, wanting so desperately to grab the doctor by the collar of his shirt and throw him across the room.

"I need you to keep still for me" Dr Louis said sternly and Jessica glared over at him.

"Fuck you" she spat and Dr Louis looked to Kilgrave who sighed.

"Jessie-"

"I told you not to call me that!" Jessica erupted, hearing that stupid nickname he had given her.

"You are only making this more difficult for yourself… I know this is a sensitive area for you and if I didn't have to do it I wouldn't, you know I would never want to hurt you" Kilgrave's voice turned to a whisper, calm and gentle.

"But you are hurting me, you have been tormenting me my entire life and you won't stop" Kilgrave rolled his eyes.

"The only reason I hurt you is because you don't listen to me" Jessica groaned, turning her head away.

"You are so fucking delusional you know that, thinking that I'd ever love you after you raped me and took my life away".

"You know I don't like that word" Kilgrave gritted.

"What, rape, that's what is was wasn't it, you raping me, destroying me inside and out" Jessica could see the veins in his neck starting to tense and his mouth turning into a hard scowl.

"Stop it" he ordered. Anger was boiling inside of him.

"No, I won't stop, not until I've gotten rid of every single piece of you, I'm going to rip you piece by piece and watch you die" Jessica gritted between her teeth, her words slow and deep. Silence fell between the two and Kilgrave stared at Jessica, his face tense before he softened and he took a deep breath.

"Fine, you want to be like that" Kilgrave strode over to the door, pulling it open and motioning for someone to come in. A man dressed as a security guard with a gun on his shoulder walks behind Kilgrave. His eyes hard and dull. He's under his control and Jessica watches as Kilgrave grabs the scalpel from the table and hands it to the security guard.

"If she fights back I want you to take that scalpel and stab yourself in the face till you die" Kilgrave commands and the security guard holds the scalpel tightly in his hand. Jessica gulps, swallowing the hard lump in the back of her throat and Kilgrave turns to her with a smirk.

"Two can play at this game" he sneers.

Fuck, he has me

Jessica glances over at Dr Louis who is ready to wrap the tourniquet around her arm. She couldn't allow the security guard to die over her fear. Jessica sighs, leaning back on the bed and closing her eyes, flinching only a little as the doctors hands wrap around her arm. The click of Kilgrave's shoes sound in the silent room and Jessica can feel him beside her.

"Okay, it's just a sharp scratch, it will only last a few seconds" Dr Louis spoke calmly although Jessica wasn't in the mood.

"Just fucking do it" Jessica barked, her eyes squeezing tightly. All she could think about was the memories of this place and the constant stabbing of the needles. She tried to push those thoughts away from her mind and think about something else… like Trish. Her wonderful, beautiful sister she loved so much. She had only just realised that Trish probably didn't know where she was and was probably out looking for her.

Jessica winced at the sharp pain from the needle being inserted inside her inner elbow, a tear trying to escape her tear duct and as much as she forced them back, the single tear dropped down her check. Her teeth gripped the inside of her lip, the taste of blood flooding inside her mouth as she bit down hard.

"That's my Jessica, so brave and strong" Kilgrave's voice sounded and Jessica ignored his words, drowning him out with the thoughts of Trish. The snap of the tourniquet made her flinch a little but she tried to stay as calm as possible, fearing the security guard would stab himself at any moment he saw her fight back.

Dr Louis pulled the needle out, pressing a cotton pad to her bleeding arm and taped it down.

"Look's good" he shook the bottle of blood and Kilgrave smiled.

Jessica peeped through her eyelids, her vision blurry from the tears that had collected and she released her lip, letting out a shaky breath.

"Is that it?" She grunted and Kilgrave looked over to Dr Louis.

"Just one on the other side and then a biopsy and we'll be done" he confirmed, getting ready for the next one.

"You did well, I'm proud of you" Kilgrave said gently, his hand resting beside her arm and a smile on his face. Jessica scoffed, turning her head to him.

"If you hadn't threatened that security guard I wouldn't have let him do it" she responded.

"But you did, I know that's hard for you" Kilgrave rested his hand on her arm and as much as Jessica wanted to pull away and punch him, she knew the security guard would obey his command. Jessica tensed at his touch and looked away, swallowing hard. Kilgrave brushed his fingers over her pale arm, her soft skin like a new born baby. He missed this, touching her.

Dr Louis preformed the other blood test on the other arm, taking a good amount of blood and placed the two bottles on the steel table. The only thing left to do was the biopsy.

"Just need a biopsy of some skin cells and then we'll be done" Dr Louis took another needle that was filled with anaesthetic and prepped it. Jessica tensed once again but didn't fight back.

"Just need to move this out the way" Dr Louis brushed the top of her gown away from her collar bone and Jessica made a move to reach up but halted her arms as she saw the security guard start to lift the scalpel.

"Fuck sake" she gritted to herself, shutting her eyes and leaning back on the bed. The needle was inserted just above her breast and she flinched from the pain. Kilgrave held her arm gently in his hand, his touch distracting her from he needle even though she hated it.

Jessica kept her eyes closed as Dr Louis took another scalpel and sliced a piece of skin off, placing it on the glass slab before applying a piece of guaze over the top.

"We are all done" Dr Louis announced and Jessica relaxed, her eyes flickering down to see Kilgrave still touching her.

"You can take your hand off me now" she ordered and Kilgrave grinned, running his hand along her arm and up to her shoulder to rub it gently.

"Oh how I've missed this" Jessica tensed as he brushed her neck and moved her black hair away. If the security guard still wasn't under his command, she would have head butted him there and then.

"You can go back outside now" he turned to the security guard, giving him the new command and the guard nodded before dropping the scalpel and turning back to his post outside the door.

Jessica immediately jerked her arm away and Kilgrave chuckled softly.

"When can we start testing those" Kilgrave asked Dr Louis.

"Right now".
