Beep, beep, beep
Reaching over I slammed my hand down on my phone to turn off my alarm and check the time and the date, it said that it was 6:25am on Saturday the 23d of July. Getting up I gathered my clothes that I laid out last night and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day. After getting dressed I grabbed my cane and went downstairs to start breakfast. Yes, blind people are able to cook. I made toast, bacon and was just finishing up with the eggs when I heard Charlie coming down the stairs slowly.
"Shit Bells, I don't think you made enough to feed an army there."
"Ha-ha dad, just grab whatever you like."
"So Bella, are you excited about moving to Italy at the end of the week."
"Yes I am, it just feels like I'm being pulled there, you know."
"I get the feeling sweetie, your heart lets you know what's best for you and the best thing do is to listen to your heart."
"I'll miss it here but like you said my heart knows what's best for me and that's in Volterra, Italy," I sad with a tear in my eyes.
"So I have a few things planned for today if you are up for tagging along with me," dad said.
"Sure what you have planned to be doing," I said.
"Well I have to get down to La Push, then stop at the store for a bit more food for the week and then stop over at the bookstore."
"What's at the bookstore that we need to stop there?" I questioned.
"They put in a new section at the front of the store for the blind and vision impaired."
"What really that's awesome, now I'll have some new reading material."
After getting the dishes in the sink and finishing breakfast, we headed out to the truck and was off to La Push. 15 minutes or so I felt Charlie turn off the highway and onto a dirt or gravel road. He drove for a little bit and then took a right and stopped.
"We're here Bells," dad said while getting out.
"Great, umm where are we exactly," I said after getting out of the truck and made my way to the front of the truck.
"We're at Billy and Sarah's house," dad said while taking my arm to help me to the house.
"Oh, Ok."
"Come on Bells at less sound a little happy about coming here."
"I am, just didn't know we were coming here is all, now let's go it smells like it's going to start raining soon," I said pulling on my dad's arm.
With a laugh dad pulled me along and helped me with the steps and up to the door. With one knock, he opened the door and pulled me though the house. A short moment later I felt myself by put into a chair.
"Jesus dad, you have poor manners, just walking into someone's house like that is very rude," I said with a hint of anger and sarcasm.
"Charlie, I like her and she is right you know it is quite rude to walk in like that," said a woman.
"Oh come now Sarah, Billy said I'm welcome to come in with just a knock on the door," dad stressed.
"He don't put me under the bus you jackass o I'll tell Sue on you," a man said.
"You can't use Sue to get your ass free from this Billy if she isn't even he…" dad started, but heard a throat clear.
"Can't use Sue for what Charlie," I heard another woman and a tapping sound. I think she is tapping her foot. With that I let out a giggle at their silliness.
"Sue, honey what are you doing here," dad said nervously.
"Oh no Charlie, you damn will not to pull that crap with me, you saw my truck out front unless you weren't paying attention. I told you so many times to wait for someone to invite you into their home before barging in," Sue said.
"I swear Sue these two are worse than children," Sarah laughed
"So true, so true."
I just tuned them out after that because they are still at it. I listened around and also took in the smells coming from the kitchen. I got up to head over to the kitchen, as I walked slowly towards the mouthwatering smells in the kitchen, without tripping o bumping into anything (which is a shocker) I finally made it to the kitchen. I heard a few voiced to the left of me which sounded familiar.
"OH MY GOD, Bella," a girl said. I knew that voice anywhere.
"Leah, oh my god girl how have you been," I said with excitement, as I felt a very hot body hugging me.
"Oh Bella, it's been so long, why didn't you call to tell me you were coming back to Forks."
"I'm not staying long Lee, I told you before that I'm moving to Italy and damn girl you are burning up are you sick," I said while feeling her forehead.
"No I'm not sick Bells, I'm just…, oh that reminds me I got accepted to do a foreign exchange program in Volterra Italy for my last semester of college," she said.
"No way for real, when do you go," I asked even though I knew she was changing the subject.
"At the end of the week."
"What a coincidence, I'm only here until the end of the week too."
"That is weird but cool, I leave on Friday at 8:30am from Seattle to Florence Italy," Leah said.
"Ok now that is a little scary I leave at the same time on Delta," I said kind of shocked and curious.
"No way I'm taking Delta too."
I felt Leah gab my hand and pulled me over further into the kitchen and pushed me down into a chair to sit. We talked about anything and everything to get cot up with each other. I was still contemplating why Leah was so hot to the touch and to why she blew it off like it was normal to have such a high temperature. I do frankly remember the legends of the tribe about the Quileutes being descendants from wolves.
"Hey Bella, do you want to go to the beach and walk the shore line, I have something very important to tell you and I was given permission by Billy to tell you," Leah said.
"Oh ok that sounds great, he dad Leah and I are going down to the beach," I yelled, while Leah was pulling me out the door.
"Ok just be careful you don't fall on your way there," dad yelled back.
"I'll keep her safe Charlie," Leah yelled.
Leah pulled me along helping me all the way to the beach. We cut through the woods and down a steep path, by the time I knew it we were on the beach close to the water. The smell and the sounds of the ocean are just like how I remembered it will be, I just wish I could see it.
"It's beautiful Bella, I wish you could see what I see right now," Leah said sadly.
"Yeah it smells and sounds beautiful," I said.
"Hey, I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound like a downer."
"It's ok Leah, I understand."
We walked along the beach with the cool ocean breeze lightly touching our faces, talking about anything and everything. We talked about our plans for Italy and what is going to happen when we get there. I don't know how long we have been walking for but Leah stopped suddenly, and moved me behind her while still holding onto my hand. That is when I heard a deep growl and a hissing noise, terrified and confused about what is going on I let go of Leah's hand and gabbed he shirt instead.
"Leah what is it, what's going on," I asked with fear in my voice.
"Bella, I will keep you safe but you need to stay behind me and listen to what I tell you and move when I do ok," she said seriously.
"Ok, but what's going on, what is hissing and growling at us."
"Bella there is something in front of us that is very dangero…"
"Oh do shut up already and give me the girl pup," a dark voice interrupted.
"Fuck you leech, I'll rip you apart before I let you touch her," Leah growled.
"Hahahahaha, you are so young and naïve pup, I have been around far longer than you and this blood bag has been fun tracking since she got off the plain," the dark voice said with a chuckle
"Leah, what is he talking about."
"Oh, you don't get it do you little human, you are my dinner and you are quite a challenge to get to with these damn dogs running around. Had to shake them off just to get here," he laughed.
"Bella remember I was going to tell you something very important, you remember the legends of my tribe well they are all true, the wolves and cold-ones," Leah said while taking a step back which made me move with her.
Oh my god, no way. No wonder she so warm to the touch. This is so impossible, it can't be true. I felt Leah step back again making me move, then she reached around and took my hand off her shirt.
"Bella stay right here do not move, I will kept you safe," Leah said.
Before I could say anything Leah let go of my hand and I felt a power and heard growling.
Leah's POV
I stepped away from Bella and shifted into my wolf growling at the leech in warning.
"Leah wha…, hold on I'm on my way, protect Bella don't let him get close to her," said Jacob.
"What do you think I'm doing Jake, just hurry," I growled.
"I'm 30 seconds out, I'm coming," he said running faster.
"Oh hahahaha, the little puppy came out to play," he laughed.
He stepped forward and I stepped back brushing my tail up against Bella's left side, I heard her gasp and felt her hand brush my tail.
"Leah, I'm scarred," Bella said with fear.
"Oh little girl you should be, after I take care of this puppy nothing will stop me from having you."
I stepped back further while making sure to curl my body to be more in front of Bella, I felt Bella's hand go into my fur and held on to it.
"Leah, I'm here try to keep him distracted and I'll come up from behind him," Jake said.
"Yeah, easier said then done," I growled.
"You pup ae starting to piss me the fuck off," the leech hissed. "Do yourself a favor and move before I kill you."
I saw Jake coming up behind him slowly, to not give himself away. With a split second decision I shift back into my human form not caring about my nakedness and stood more in front of Bella.
"You aren't getting anywhere near her you fucken leech, you are not going to live long to even touch her," I hissed out with a smirk.
With narrowed eyes he went to step forward but was grabbed by the shoulder by Jake, with that the leech screamed in pain and tried but failed to break free. Jake dragged him away into the forest still screaming, after a while the screaming stopped and I saw purple smoke come from the tree tops. I turned around to face Bella to find her shaking.
"Bella, it's ok your safe now," I said genially while holding onto her arms.
"Leah, was what you said all true."
"Yes, it's all true, the wolves and vampires, Bella I'm so sorry I didn't know there was one around. I put you in so much danger, this is all my fault," I cried while falling on my knees in front of her.
"No no, Leah it's not your fault. Like you said you didn't know, but look I'm safe because of you," Bella sad while giving me a hug.
I hugged her back while laughing a little. We sat there for awhile, I saw Jake leave me some clothes at the forest edge.
"Uhmm, Leah, ar.. are you naked," Bella said while pulling away.
I laughed and helped Bella to her feet, walked us over to where Jake put the clothes and put them on. Grabbing Bella's hand we walked back to Billy's house. When we got there everyone was worried and came to see if we where alright. We both said we where fine just tired from what happened. It went back to normal or however normal was around here. Bella and Charlie stayed for a while longer and they where getting ready to leave.
"Thank you Leah, for keeping Bella safe from that leech," Charlie said. (Yes Charlie knows)
"Your welcome Charlie, I can't let anything happen to my girl now do I."
"Jeez it's like I can't take care of myself, I'm 21 you know," Bella grumbled out.
"Sweetie until you can take on a vampire you'll always have some protection around you," Charlie said laughing.
"Whatever dad, lets go I'm tired from today. Thank you for keeping me safe Leah, I just wish I wasn't such a burden for everyone," Bella said while giving me a hug.
"Your not a burden Bella, you have more than enough strength in you to never be a burden on anyone," I said.
With that I walked Bella out and helped her into the truck and watch the Swans drive away.
