Stilton remembered when he was a young adult. He was kicked out by his parents for bringing disgrace to the candle holders when he was 18. One night he chugged down on soda that night and sat in his recliner. Suddenly he heard a quiet whimper outside. He opened the door and saw a small little green rat with a trash can on his head He was chewing on a rotten apple core and looked at the man with big round eyes.
"Go home, kid." Stilton said. But the rat refused and clung onto his leg. Stilton rolled his eyes and went inside with him on his foot. He took the trash can off his head, revealing a slightly melted candle on his head. Stilton smiled. He thought about how this little guy could be a huge success, but then he noticed the little guy's whimpering and tears in his big eyes. He saw that his light was burning out. Stilton quickly got a lighter. He desperately flicked it, then he lit the candle, and the flame burned brighter. He calmed down and hugged the guy who saved him.
"Da…" The kid said.
"No, I'm not your dad!" Stilton said. "I'm just… Your boss who… Will also take care of ya." Stilton said as he patted the kid's head. Then he sniffed him. "Wow, what a stink, you smell like bad Gorgonzola."
Gorgonzola began crying.
"Fine I'll change you, I guess this comes with being a pa… Master." Stilton said as he took Gorgonzola to the bathroom.
In the present Stilton looked at pictures of Gorgonzola from when he was a baby up until somewhat recently. He shed a tear as he realized just how horrible he was to his apprentice and now there was nothing he could do to make up for it. But then he remembered something important. He went back to see Mung and Chowder at the Catering Company.
"What do you want?" Mung asked after he opened the door.
"I… Just want to say, please remember to keep Gorgonzola's flame lit. Candle creaturea can't survive without their flames, especially the youngins."
"Oh. He left this morning." Mung said. "And Chowder is gone too. Shnitzel and I were about to go look for him." He used his thumb to point at Shnitzel packing up a little.
"Great… I guess now we have to look for them together." Stilton groaned.
"Gorgonzola, wait!" Chowder called as he ran after him with his stubby little legs.
"Leave me alone…" Gorgonzola moaned as he walked away.
