Chapter 2

Ranger got in the elevator and hit 2. While he was in the elevator, his thoughts strayed to his Babe. "Am I getting a second chance at being a father? Can I be that lucky? I think deep down. I want another baby. To have that chance again. Can it be true? " Ranger pondered.

The elevator opened. "Bobby," Ranger called out.

"In my office." Bobby said and then added, "I don't have anything yet, but when I do, I will let you know. I promise." Bobby said.

Ranger walked back up to his penthouse. As he entered, Stephanie's cell phone rang. Ranger saw it was her mom. "Helen, hi, it's Ranger. She's okay. Bobby, our doctor, took some blood work, and we should have the results soon. I think you need to know Helen that I have been dating your daughter for six months. We are thrilled to be together. So, she is staying with me, and I promise I will take care of her."

"Ranger, thank you for telling me this and taking care of her," Helen said as she hung up.

Ranger walked back into his bedroom and saw Stephanie sitting up in bed. "Hey there Babe, how are you feeling?" He asked her.

"Better. But I'm nervous. If I am pregnant, how will I take care of a baby! I have a hard time taking care of myself. Or Rex!" Stephanie told him.

"Hey, I love you, Babe, and I promise I will be there all the way. Deep down, I wanted another chance to be a father. I might have that chance with you. And I can't wait to find out if it's true. Listen, Babe, I love you, and I know you. And I know that you will be a great mom." Ranger told her as he looked into her deep blue eyes.

"Thank you, Ranger. I needed to hear that," She told him.

He kissed her lightly on the lips. "How about I help you up, and we can get something to eat." Ranger helped Stephanie up off his bed, and they walked to the dining room and helped her into a chair. He looked in the fridge. "Let's see what do we have? He noticed some leftover beef stew. "This will work."

He took the bowl out and put it in the microwave. Once it was out of the microwave and hot. Ranger put it in front of her and gave her a spoon. She took one bite and took off running into the bathroom. Ranger could hear her wretch.

"Okay, beef stew is out of the question," Ranger said as he got up and went into the bathroom." Hey, come here." Ranger took her into his arms.

"I am so hungry, Ranger, but I couldn't hold down that stew. I'm scared I'll never eat again!"

"Can you think of anything you might want to eat?" Ranger asked her.

"Hmmm. Maybe chicken soup? It always makes me feel better when I feel like crap. I could try," Stephanie told him.

Ranger got on his phone, "Ella, can you get some chicken soup up here, please."

He guided Stephanie back into the dining room again.

A few minutes later, there was a knock at Ranger's door. "Hey, Ella, come on in." Ranger saw the soup in her hands. Ranger took out another bowl, put some of the soup in the bowl, and gave it to Stephanie. She took a bite with a spoon, and it stayed down. "You, Ella, just got yourself a raise," Ranger said as Stephanie scarfed the soup down.
