Part III
Evie's Notes: Here we are finally at the last section! Thank you so much to all of you who supported this work with Comments and Kudos. I hope you enjoy the final installment of Danger Returns!
Henry could not help but enjoy the rush that he always felt when fighting crime. Rushing through the streets with his team and mentor Henry couldn't be happier. While it had definitely been nice to have had a break the past few days, there was something to be said about the amazing feeling which occurred when one was doing what they were born to do. The quartet paused outside of the Swellview Stop & Shop to go over the plan.
"All right team, the Kid and I will go in first and you two can circle around the back and cut off Jeff's escape route" ordered Ray.
Charlotte and Jasper shot the original crime fighting pair quick salutes before ducking around the back of the building.
"You ready for this Kid?" asked Ray as he prepared to kick in the door.
"You bet Big Dog. Let's go get Jeff!".
As Henry and Ray burst through the front doors of the convenience store, they found one of Henry's old foes stroking a skunk.
"Can you pay attention to me please. Part of the reason I rob people is for the connection I feel with them, and right now I feel like you are ignoring me".
"Hah! It's your old buddy Jeff" laughed Ray.
"Oh yeah. Let's get to it then" announced Henry, calling the criminal's attention to him.
"Robbing a store with a skunk? That plan stinks" sassed Charlotte as she appeared in the doorway.
"Who are you?" asked Jeff.
"Professor Danger, the woman who'll be delivering you to Swellview prison".
"Good one Professor" cheered Jasper appearing behind Charlotte.
"And who the hell are you two?" shrieked Jeff, gesturing wildly to Henry and Jasper.
"Doc Danger and Detective Danger, in town for a few days" introduced Henry in a bored tone. "Can we just take him to jail now? Jeff never really puts up a fight".
"Aww come on man! Take your time, savor the save" protested Ray.
"Yeah… no. The sooner we drop him off the sooner we can get back to our Nacho Ball" disagreed Jasper.
"Well I don't care who you are" announced Jeff raising his skunk in Henry's direction. "I'm still robbing this store and if you want to stop me, you'll have to get through my little friend here" before triggering the skunk's spray.
Rolling his eyes Henry activated his forcefield and watched as the spray backfired into Jeff's eyes. The thief ran blindly through the back doors held open by Jasper and into the awaiting police force. The Swellview police were rather useless in general when it came to true emergencies, but Henry trusted that they wouldn't be able to mess up arresting Jeff now that the fight was over.
"Alright we stopped the robbery so let's get back to the Man's Nest" cheered Jasper heading for the doors.
"No, no, no!" protested Ray, "Let's go chase Jeff".
"The cops got him" announced Charlotte from her spot watching Jeff being forced into the back of a cop car.
"Well then, let's get going then" directed Henry joining Jasper by the doors.
"What about we find another crime to stop?" suggested Ray. "Or better yet we could steal some of the candy and just blame it on Jeff!"
"That's just stealing!" protested Henry
"Ehhh, it's kinda a gray area"
"Not really" corrected Jasper.
"I do it all the time, so who's going to know?"
"Our job is to stop crimes, not commit them. Anyway, the cops will check Jeff for stolen goods when they book him, so they will know what was actually taken" pointed out Charlotte.
"If we go back to the Man's Nest, we can have a movie night" wheedled Henry.
"Fine" relented Ray following the trio out the door and back to their base for an impromptu movie night.
*Return of the Kid - Return of the Kid - Return of the Kid*
Given that the shipment of swellvanium would be arriving in three days, Henry and the others decided to spend some time training with the Danger Force members. Charlotte volunteered to show Mika the ropes on the various electronic tips and tricks she had picked up over the years as well as sparing with her.
Jasper, Bose and Miles had bonded pretty much the moment the trio had arrived, so he had called dibs on training the boys. His lessons involved hand to hand combat as well as meditation sessions which seemed to help with their powers.
This left Henry with Chapa, and honestly Henry wouldn't have had it any other way. The young hero had a lot of pent-up rage at the hand life had dealt her. Henry saw a lot of his own sister Piper in her and he suggested several techniques which helped Piper control her rage. His superpower of forcefields also allowed him to safely spar with the young teen when her anger and impatience got to be too much for her, and she lost control of her electricity.
Henry copied down the contact information that helped Piper when she was younger and passed it on to the girl. He made sure to stress that he wasn't going to make her go, but if she wanted to take charge of her anger that this lady worked miracles. He also suggested that she might like to chat with Piper and gave her his sister's contact information.
*Return of the Kid - Return of the Kid - Return of the Kid*
Unfortunately, their departure date came far too soon. The trio had gotten a message from their fourth team member, Amelia, asking for their help since things had apparently gotten intense in their quarter of Dystopia. Luckily Schwoz's contacts had come through with the shipment of swellvanium, so the trio were free to return to Dystopia.
It was with lots of hugs and tears that Team Danger bid goodbye to Danger Force, promising to return and visit soon.
"See you later Dangers" called Jasper from his spot waiting for the others on the tube pad waving goodbye.
Charlotte pulled Mika into a tight hug and made her promise to study hard before joining Jasper.
Henry, seeing that the others were finally ready to go, tried to extract himself from the tight hug Ray had wrapped him in. "Come on Big Dog, I've got to get going".
"No, don't leave me with them" whined Ray.
"Come on Ray. They are an awesome team, and we will be back before you know it!" promised Henry.
Channeling his forcefield he threw Ray off him and jogged over to the kids.
"I guess this is it Kiddos. Stay safe and watch each other's backs, ok?" he ordered.
"Definitely, thanks for all your help" chirped Mika pulling him into a hug.
"Come back soon man" demanded Miles
"We're going to miss you all" added Bose.
"Come back alive Dummy" finished Chapa hugging Henry tightly.
"Of course, sparky!" promised Henry. "I'll be in touch and please think about what we talked about".
Waving goodbye to the team one last time he bid goodbye to Ray and Schwoz before joining his best friends on the tube pad.
Looking out over the Man's Nest one final time, Henry took the hands of his best friends and called out "Down the Tube!".
Evie's Notes 2: Wow, it has been a wild ride to get here! Ever since the episode aired I knew I wanted to do a re-write focusing on the entirety of Team Danger.
