Interrogation Room:

A surprisingly timid knock is barely heard by the alert detective.

"Come on in. I mean….enter!"

A worried look boy with his baseball cap pulled down low, made his way to the chair - fumbling once or twice due to the cap obstructing his view.

"Hey May."

"Hey Ash."

May was tempted to ask how her friend was doing, before shaking her head, resolving to finish her professional duty. A true detective separates emotion from work.

"Name, please!"

The boy paused a bit, unsure of how to answer as he felt a sense of impending doom.

The girl tapped her foot impatiently, "Ash! Just say your name."

"Oh...Ash."

"Full name!"

"Ash Ketchum, ma'am!"

"Alright. Occupation?"

Ash broke down. "May! I'm so sorry! It was me. I ate the ice cream. I didn't know it was yours, but it was insanely good! I promise I'll make it up to you...I'll- I'll buy you two ice cream cones tomorrow!"

This was when red hot tears began to trail down the girl's face as well. May let out a wail, "Ash! They're sold out until April!"

Ash took her hand, apologizing fervently as both cried with abandon - one in grief and one in guilt.

Paul...who had awoken and was on his way back from using the restroom, heard the wailing that was coming from May and Dawn's room and decided to pick up his pace, not wanting to get caught up in the chaos that was ensuing.

As they continued sobbing, May asked - hiccups in between - "Ash...I need - hiccup! - to ask you something - hiccup! Was the liechi berry flavor pronounced? Could you tell that it was a -hiccup! - liechi berry cone?"

Ash suddenly froze.

"Wait...liechi berry cone? I'm pretty sure what I ate was a pecha berry swirl cone! Does that mean it wasn't me?!"

May pursued her lips, "Hm...it is true that the pecha berry swirl cone I bought had also gone missing. But since that isn't limited edition and I can walk a block to the pokemart to buy another one, it's...okay. I guess that clears you from the suspect list for now too….and you were one of my most promising suspects." She frowned. There weren't too many people left, and if it wasn't her fellow food aficionado, the detective wondered who it could be.

The boy, having heard this, had quickly cast off his former grief and relief had brightened his face considerably. He burst into a victory dance and soon enough him and the once staunch and cold detective were twirling around and knocking over the furniture of the once pristine, relatively tidy Interrogation Room.

She giggled, "Hey, this is fun."

He smiled, "I feel so happy, May...it's like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders. I'll go call the next suspect."

Before he left, Ash turned around and solemnly said, "I hope you catch the criminal who did this, May. Too many cases like these are left unsolved all the time."

He tipped his baseball cap and she solemnly returned the gesture with a two finger salute.

Waiting Room:

Ash burst through the door, yelling at the top of his lungs, "It's not me, guys! I ate a different ice cream cone!"

He happily collapsed on the couch besides Drew and Dawn.

Drew sighed, getting up, "I'll go next."

Dawn squinted at him, "Well...I know it wasn't me, so that leaves you and Paul. And I don't recall Paul liking ice cream. So...if it is you, hypothetically, you better bring a full bouquet."

Drew glared, "Those roses aren't for - you know what, I know I'm innocent so I'll just go get this over with."

As Drew walked towards the interrogation room, Dawn turned to Ash, rolling her eyes, "Coordinators. So dramatic." Ash laughed, "I know righ -" before realizing the error of admitting this right in the face of a coordinator. Peck!

"Hey!" Ash called out as Piplup pecked him. "I - I take it back!"

Gary mouthed to the poor boy, bad idea, laughing at his friend's plight.
