The young and ditsy Nina ran out the door and ended up tumbling down her hill. Again. But this time, turning to the left and avoiding the little pond, uncurling next to it.
"Bah!", she uttered when her legs hit the ground with a thud. From where Nina sat, she saw Glungular Coast, a place she hadn't been (or noticed) yet in her two years of living where she does. She'd only ever been to Clearix Forest and Wispy Desert and never went any farther than those to locations. Would today be the day her curiosity got the best of her?
Yes.
Nina hopped up onto her feet and sped off down the slope of her hill. Looking to the left as she ran, Nina wondered how to get there since Glungular Coast was off to the west and Lunar Valley is mostly northward with steeper hills bordering most of it (which she couldn't run up), AND she simply just hadn't been there yet. The only thing she could try was to get a little creative to make it there somehow.
IIn this thought of not-knowing-how-to-get-to-the-shoreline-so-she-had-to-get-creative, Nina skidded to a halt, killing all her speed. Unfortunately because of the aforementioned, she fell forward and — because of where she stopped at the time — rolled off the thin piece of land strip suspended above the ground. Nina's descent ended fast as she hit a tree's branch (chest first), grunting with pain, followed by plummeting to the hard grass below front side up.
This was somewhat fortunate for Nina because of the surprising fact that Lunar Valley actually doesn't have many trees. That one, obviously, was one of the few in the entire valley. On the less fortunate side, Nina suffered some damage. Groaning and struggling to get up, she made whimpering sounds as her eyes began to tear up. In her pains, Nina decided to just lay there and wait for it to stop.
Needless to say, her run ran short.
In her time of waiting, she stared at the sluggishly moving clouds in silence. They reminded her of how her sweater tastes and feels: soft and fluffy. She found even more appreciation in the skies above her, which made her smile.
...
After some time in waiting, the pain subdued. Nina was so distracted with the clouds above that she didn't even notice the little tunnel to her right. See, Lunar Valley's topography has runway strips of grass suspended above the ground by dirt walls. Most of them have arched niches that lead into length varying tunnels. Nina had never seen any of these before. Curious, she lifted herself up and entered the tunnel while dragging her right claw across the wall closest to her.
Getting a feel for the tunnel, she noticed it was comprised of the same checkerboard dirt as the rest of the valley. To her, this tunnel smelt fresh but tingly to her small nose. The description of the smell she was looking for was "salty", but she wouldn't have been able to describe it. Intrigued by the strange smell, Nina began to move quicker. Before long, the smell grew stronger, and Nina was starting to hear sounds that sounded like a hard, yet fading wind. The tunnel was getting brighter. Nina had seen the beach at the end of the tunnel.
A warmer and saltier breeze hit her in the face as she took her first steps on Glungular Coast's sand. This would've shocked her if she hadn't been to Wispy Desert yet (its sand is near identical). She even looked down and noted the feel of how similar the two are. However, this was the first of many sudden surprises to wash over Nina.
Looking up and forward, Nina finally saw the great blue ocean up close. Her eyes lit up with excitement and she ran to the water, almost slipping on the sand every few or so steps. She slipped and fell once on her way to the wetter sands, causing her face, hair and clothes to be sprinkled with sand. Nina became the most blind she's ever been (completely blind). Usually, her eyes are already almost shut, but now she just couldn't see a thing. Her eyes began to sting, itch, then water. You might think with ears like those, she could just listen for the ocean and go wash off there, right?
Well, no. Nina's kinda dim and doesn't know how to use her ears to guide her in a case such as this. With this in mind, what do you think she did?
Since I can't actually hear you, I'll just tell you exactly what she did instead: Nina began yelling, crying and running around the coast in a painful panic. No other humanoid being could help her because in this world, Nina's the only one here (but she hasn't noticed that). Luckily, after a brief minute of chaos, Nina tripped on a rock in the sand and fell into the water in a big splash. Although finally clean and relived that she could see again, Nina was yet again annoyed with her boots being filled with water. This annoyance was quickly washed away when she stood up and just stopped to feel the water up her legs, almost reaching her shorts but touching her tail's tip.
Pure astonishment.
Nina, remembering the feeling of water in her boots, jumped out the water in a flash and sat on the sand to pour out her boot liquids. She sat leaned back to let her feet air dry, but when she put them on the warm and comforting sand, she felt right at home...in her bed sheets. Because of the sunshine and bed-like sand, Nina began to feel drowsy. In no time at all, she fell asleep on the sand.
...
Some long hours later after an awesome nap (something Nina doesn't do often but it rocks every time she does), Nina woke up in a fashion similar to this morning. At this point, the time was roughly in the afternoon. Wanting something new to do, she looked around for ideas.
