Chapter Three Human or Else?
Master?... is not human?, Allen thought to himself. Everything Allen knew or thought of to be fictional came to life as he was submerged into a fantasy book himself. Allen slunk down into the couch cushions, his bangs covering his eyes. Even he, whom thought to be an outcast of the human race was actually a supernatural being himself. Allen chuckles darkly to himself, fisting his hands in the cushions.
"My life is just a big enigma of a puzzle, one without all pieces…", Allen chuckles some more.
Just then the door open and a slurred familiar voice spoke.
"Quit being such a pansy, brat", Cross growls.
Allen glares up at his master and stood angrily up at him.
"It's easy for you to say, Master… You didn't grow up on the streets thinking you were a demon child!", Allen hissed out.
A tick appeared. And in the next second, a large hammer-like hole with the hammer itself lodge into the wall. Allen had smartly duck in time, having said hammer thrown at you in your whole life has given him an edge. However, still, Allen is traumatized.
"Listen up, stupid apprentice! If want to find all the lost puzzles of your life, the better start place is here at this school or if you want to continue to live your pathetic life as ignorant human be my guess, so quiet being such a fucking pansy!", Cross slurred out and then collapsed on the couch and proceeded to fall asleep.
Allen's eyebrow began to twitch in his anger, "He's drunk…"
"Allen."
Allen turns to the voice. Komui cleared his throat and spoke again.
"Be it as it may, your master is correct in a wayward manner. If you want to find the puzzles of your life, the key start is here at the school. Of course this journey is up to you to find, but we will provide the necessary push to motivate you", Komui says.
Allen frowns and looks down at the paper covered floor, deep in thought. On one hand, he'll be probably subjected to immensely amount of danger to just find the truth about himself and his past but on the other hand, he'll be safe from said danger and live on ignorant of all the potential things he can learn from this world, including himself. Allen nod once in determination and look up to Komui.
"Alright, I'll stay and learn with all I can. And hopefully find the missing pieces of my past", Allen said.
"Wonderful! My darling Lenalee will give the tour of our wondrous establishment! Off you go then!", Komui gleefully sang as he pushed the teens out of his office, his gaze carefree and jubilantly when suddenly became dark and sinister directed at Allen, "And do not lest you wish to be served to the students, touch my Lenalee!"
Allen gulped nervously and turned to Lenalee.
"He's joking right?", Allen asks nervously.
Lenalee shrugged nonchalantly and began to head off in a particuliar direction.
"With brother, I honestly do not know", Lenalee sings out cheerfully, "Now come on, I'll show you the dorms."
Allen began to chuckle hysterically, a dark cloud looming over him as he followed Lenalee down the hall quickly, not wanting to get lost. It was quiet between the two teens, as Lenalee was humming a tune to herself and Allen was lost in thought.
"Hey?", Allen called out hesitantly.
Lenalee faced him filled with amusement and curiosity.
"Ah, so he speaks!", Lenalee laughs lightly, "Yes?"
Allen chuckles halfhearted to the teen girl light joke.
"What supernatural being are you by the way?", Allen asks.
"Hmm, normally it's against the rules to reveal your true form to others on school grounds unless it is school related but I can tell you are rather geniunely curious, so I'll tell you:… I'm a Griffin", Lenalee revealed.
Allen's jaw nearly dropped, "A GRIFFIN!?"
"Shh! And yes", Lenalee giggled.
Lenalee eyes Allen, catching Allen's stare with her own.
"So, must have never shifted in your true form huh?", Lenalee said.
Allen arched a brow, "What made you think that?"
"Well, you yourself believed to be human", Lenalee explained.
"Oh… well yea, I guess I haven't huh?", Allen said.
Lenalee smiled warmly up at Allen, "Don't worry, you'll find your true form."
Allen smiles too down at Lenalee, her kindness contagious not to.
"Y-Yea."
Then a thought occurred to Allen and once again, Allen turns to Lenalee.
"Lenalee, how do one shift into their, um, true form?", Allen asks.
Lenalee stopped and rested a forefinger on her chin in contemplation.
"I never really thought on it, considering we were all able to shift pretty early at a young age. But I guess it's the feeling you feel, a strong emotion that'll push into whatever form takes to… I guess", Lenalee says.
"I see…", Allen murmurs.
A strong emotion, huh? It must be a powerful feeling to get from whatever event happens in your lifetime huh? Then… if that's the case, then why didn't I discovered mine?, Allen thought.
"We're here."
Allen looks up from his thoughts to see a similar hall and rows of doors leading down the hall. All the same décor.
"Um?...", Allen began.
Lenalee looked at Allen confused.
"What is it?"
Allen looked at Lenalee, more than a bit embarrassed.
"Um, I kinda get lost easily so…", Allen stuttered out.
"Oh, OH!", Lenalee exclaimed quietly.
"Well, it does get confusing for freshmans and a few sophomores hehehe", Lenalee chuckles nervously.
Allen chuckles along with her, unsure what to say.
"Well I'll talk to brother about a name plate for ya, ok? For now, at least you know the way to the dorms!"
Allen raised his right hand shyly but was cut off before he can uttered another word as Lenalee grabbed his left hand and began dragging him down the other hall.
"Ah! W-Wait!", Allen exclaimed.
"No time to wait! Orientation will begin in an hour and we haven't covered the grounds yet!", Lenalee said as she pulled a flustered Allen with her.
An hour passed quickly and Allen can thoroughly say he was flabbergast and lost with the school's layout. Finally, Lenalee pulled a shell of Allen through the last door that will lead to orientation. Foldable chairs lined up neatly in rows, some filled with students and some just loitering around before the bell. Lenalee searched through the mass for a chair that happens to be next to a fiery spiked red head.
"Aha! Come on, I want you to meet someone!", Lenalee said cheerfully as she pulled Allen again.
Allen lurched forward with the amount of forced of being pulled. In no time, Allen and Lenalee was standing in front of the fiery red head. When he gained his bearings, Allen was able to observe the newcomer. His hair more red than amber like his master, with a singular emerald eye. The other covered by an eyepatch. And he wore a lopsided grin as his eye settled on Lenalee and Allen.
"Lavi! I want you to meet Allen Walker, a freshman. Allen, this is Lavi Bookman Jr.", Lenalee introduced.
Lavi stood up and struck a hand at Allen, the smile never fading from his handsome features. Allen smiled nervously and clasped his right hand to Lavi's in a firm shake.
"Ahh!", Allen yelped out as he was pulled vigorously into a fierce hug courtesy of Lavi.
"Nice to meet ya, little dude!", Lavi said.
An eyebrow twitched. Then a voice sounded.
Komui stood tall and proud by the stand in front of the room. Behind him, were supposed to be the teachers. Cross was, however, was absent.
Typical, Allen snorted as he took his seat.
"Welcome all students of Black Order High for Beings of Supernatural! Welcome back home, to new beginning for some, and a continuation on a path for others. A journey to all will find their fate and rise prosperous! Let the new semester begin!"
