"If I wanna reach Danny I have to keep up my strength."

Dani tugs her pockets inside out, looking solemnly at them when she finds no money or spare change in them. She looks back at the stand of apples.

"I hate to do this but…" She turns her hands intangible and takes a couple apples. The merchant turns towards her though and sees her. He looks at her suspiciously.

"Alright, let me see your hands."

Dani smiles sheepishly and holds her hands up, engulfed by her sleeves. After a moment though, she makes them go intangible, causing her sleeves to fall over and make it look like she had no hands.
"Ahhh!" The man yelled and darted into his shop and away from her. She took the couple of apples that she had and walked further into the alley, starting to heartily munch on them. They tasted like they could be the most delicious apples in the world.

She quickly finished the apples and let out a yawn. It wasn't that late but it wouldn't hurt to get a little bit of shut eye. Then she could travel at night when it'd be harder for Vlad to track her.

Finding an abandoned building, Dani crawls into it and walks deeper in to find a suitable place to spend the next couple hours sleeping. As she walked further into the building, she didn't notice the loose board she stepped on and didn't hear the rattling it caused all around the building.

Going through another doorway, Dani stepped into what looked like the living room. There was a musty couch sitting in the center of it. It looked very dusty and kind of gross, but it would have to do. Crawling on top of it, she pulled her arms into her oversized sweater and pulled the bottom of it around her knees. Soon she drifted off to sleep.

Waking up slowly, Dani felt no more energetic or rested than she had earlier. She almost felt worse. She blearily pried her eyes open and looked around her. It was significantly darker and Dani had to guess that it was late enough for all the shops to have closed. Maybe she'd be able to snag a few more apples before leaving.

She stood up but she teetered a bit before being able to stand up straight, a cough pulling its way from her throat. She hurried her way through the doorway and into the next room that she had entered the building from. She was about halfway through the room when she tripped on something that she couldn't see in the dark and landed on a loose floorboard that sounded as if it shook the whole building.

And it must've. The next thing she knew the entire building was creaking and groaning, wooden boards starting to fall and crumble from the ceiling. Something snapped above her and suddenly she was transforming, going intangible, and flying through the walls to escape being crushed by the crumbling building.

She landed on her hands and knees, but she was shaking. She let out another cough, this one wet and sticky. When she opened her eyes she saw ectoplasm spattered across the ground in front of her.

"No. No, no, no. It can't be too late. I was so close."

She tried to push herself up, she made it halfway before collapsing to the ground in the alley. She could feel her hair and ear beginning to drip, destabilizing into ectoplasm.

More ectoplasm began to run off of her, leaving puddles on the pavement below her. The longer she laid there, the more she could feel everything slowing down. She could feel her core sputtering.

And then it stopped.

Dani began to cry, her tears turning into ectoplasm as they ran down her face. It wasn't fair. She was so close. She was on the outskirts of Amity Park. She could have made it.

Instead, she lay in the middle of this random alleyway, dissolving into a puddle of ectoplasm, where no one would find her.
