Major Crimes Mysteries

The Family McCoy

Chapter 3

"Alright Provenza you want to tell me what in the hell is going on with this crime scene?" Andy asked. "The roll out for this is one of the worst I've ever seen. Everyone looks like their dog died and I'm not liking it." He continued.

As Provenza was getting ready to tell him, Andrea Hobbs pulled up aside them and turned off her car. As she got out of it, Rusty Beck pulled up next to her and waved to the team.

Flynn was so proud of Rusty. After his final break up with Gus, Rusty made the decision to move into his own place. Of course, Sharon begged him not to go and to wait until he was done with law school, but Rusty told her that he was ready and that both she and Andy needed time as a newlywed couple. That didn't mean the boy didn't show up for a good homecooked meal or just to hang out with his parents, but he loved living on his own and always credited Sharon with being his safety net. He even started to participate in chess championships and had done quite well for himself.

Being a new lawyer, Rusty passed his bar exam on the first time. Andrea snatched him up right away to continue as her assistant, but all knew Rusty's first choice was family law. For now, he stayed with Andrea to develop his skills and await an opening in the office.

"Wow, this looks bad." He said as he got out of the car. "Where's mom?" Rusty asked?

"Yes, I was getting ready to ask the same thing, Provenza. Where's Sharon?" Andrea asked.

Flynn just hung his head waiting for Provenza's smart ass response that he knew was coming. "Someone decided they didn't need to follow a command and didn't tell her she needed to be here. She is on her way, but let's go ahead and get started." Provenza said gesturing towards the door.

As they were getting ready to walk towards the house, Dr. Morales pulled up. Kendall immediately stopped what he was doing and walked towards Morales' car. As he stepped out, Provenza called out to him, "Morales, what are you doing here? Provenza asked. "Kendall called me. Said it was bad and I should really be here to make sure we get everything we need and see the crime scene as it is. I told him only on the big cases to make sure I was called in. This sounds like one." Dr. Morales told Provenza. "Oh, you mean he followed your directions." Provenza said without looking at Andy. Andy just rolled his eyes without responding.

Rusty looked at both Flynn and Provenza and chuckled under his breath. He knew exactly what had happened. Andy was so protective of his mother and he loved him for it. He had his moments with Flynn, but never doubted Flynn's love for his mother. Plus, the reason for the nightmares and his mother's lack of sleep was really bothering Flynn and he wasn't quiet about it. Rusty could never figure out why Sharon could never understand the reasonings behind Flynn's urgings for her to get professional help. After all, she was the queen of sending people to therapy. Andy wasn't asking for a lot.

Sharon pulled up, immediately turned off her car and joined the group. It was apparent that she had just thrown on her clothes after Provenza called her. She had the minimal amount of make up on that she would leave the house in and her hair was just pulled back in a barrette.

"Lieutenant, I am sorry I am late. Can you fill me in on what happened? It sounds bad." Sharon said without acknowledging the rest of the group. "Yes, it is. No problem, Commander. I don't blame you." Provenza said. "We will talk about the apparent breakdown in communication later." Sharon replied. Andy rolled his eyes and let out a sigh gathering looks from the rest of the group.

Buzz caught Provenza's eye while he was putting on their gear to walk into the house. "BUZZ" Provenza yelled. Buzz walked to him. "Yes sir?" Buzz responded. "I want you to grab Amy and Myra. Go interview the neighbor who called in the fire. See what he saw. If necessary, have him transported down to the station." Provenza told him. "Yes, Sir." Buzz said and walked off immediately.

After the group got their gear on, they stepped into the house. The horrors of what occurred to the residents of the house clearly didn't happen in the pristine front entrance. Sharon wondered what awaited them in the rest of the house.
