The first thing that Merlin was aware of as he slowly regains consciousness, is the softness and the warmth. He is laying on his back on what he first thought was a bed. Merlin moves a bit, and expected pain to explode in his body, but it never came. There was only a dull, uncomfortable throbbing sensation reminded him of what had happened.

What had happened?

He had went to the game store, he remembered that.

There was a wormhole...

He was falling...

Merlin slowly opens his eyes, blinking at the light. When his vision clears, Merlin could see a ceiling made out of rock. Merlin moves his head a little and tries to look around. Just like the ceiling, the walls were also made out of smooth rock, and there was also a single opening from which the light was coming from. When Merlin feels the "bed" he is currently laying on, he realizes that he wasn't an actual bed with sheets but instead a bed of spongy moss. From those observations, Merlin was able to make the conclusion that he was in a large cave.

Merlin wasn't sure how he got into the cave, but right now he didn't care. Merlin sighs softly as he closes his eyes again, listening to the sound of what sounded like birds. Then, he heard it.

Someone was in the cave with him.

Merlin's eyes shot open. Who was it? Merlin turns his head, and looks around. He notices a dark figure in one corner of the cave, a corner that Merlin had previously overlooked. Merlin's eyes widen as he realizes that the figure isn't that of a human, but a strange and very large looking animal.

The animal is bipedal and looks vaguely like a kangaroo. It has a brown hide, which has several raised patches, and a cream-colored belly. It also has large, cream-colored ears as well as narrow, red eyes and a short, rounded snout. On top of its head is a thick, black plate. There are epaulette-like growths over its shoulders and a row of spikes down its back. It has three clawed digits on each hand and foot and a thick tail. In general, this creature is absolutely massive, and it is staring right at Merlin.

Merlin didn't quite know how he was supposed to feel. He felt some fear, this is a huge creature after all, but he also felt curiosity. And in any case, if this creature wanted to hurt him, it no doubt would have done so while Merlin was injured. Merlin sits up slowly, wincing a bit at the sharp pain that just shot through his skull. Merlin places a hand on the side of his head, where the pain had come from, and feels nothing but bandages wrapped around his head. However, before he could do anything more, he suddenly hears a voice behind him.

"Well now, looks like you are finally awake"

Merlin turns his head to see a large, humanoid animal with a large mustache. It has a long, thin snout, narrow eyes, ear-like spikes extending from the top of its head, and an additional spike protruding from each cheek. The animal has a yellow, skeletal body with brown armor-like sections over its chest, shoulders, forearms, and knees. On each foot are three toes, each of which has a white, sharp claw. Two of the toes face forward, while one faces backwards. The weirdest thing was that in each of the animal's hand, was a silver spoon.

All Merlin could do was stare wide-eyed, his headache being the only thing keeping him from moving in fear, even as the animal started to move towards him. Finally, his mind was able to process that the animal had spoken to him, without even opening it's mouth. "What the hell are you? And what is that thing? And just where am I exactly?" Merlin asks, now showing more natural behavior towards basically having been teleported to a different world. At least, he assumed that this was a different world, he read enough manga to believe that it was a safe assumption.

"We are currently in the forest surrounding Twinleaf Town of course. And we are called Pokémon. I am what is known as an Alakazam, and my friend over there is called a Kangaskhan. In fact, she was the one that had found you and brought you here," the Alakazam replied while checking on the bandages wrapped around Merlin's head, talking as if that were something normal. Merlin still didn't quite understand, mainly about the whole Pokémon part, but he understood enough that Pokémon are this world's version of animals.

"Oh, okay. Um, thank you then, Kangaskhan," Merlin says, not exactly knowing how he was supposed to respond to that. However, the kangaroo-like creature seemed rather pleased with Merlin's apparent gratitude and gives him a friendly wave while also letting out a soft rumble. "Why do you not seem surprised to see me? And what exactly are Pokémon?" Merlin asks, now more curious than anything. Plus, it was also common sense to not be afraid of something that doesn't even look like it was going to attempt to harm him.

"Well, the way that you humans may describe us is that we Pokémon are creatures with special abilities. All Pokémon can use elemental attacks, or even psychic attacks, in battle. As for why I am not surprised to see you, I saw the wormhole open up in the sky, and I saw you fall through it. It is strange though that you don't know about Pokémon, do we not exist in your world?" The Alakazam asks curiously.

Merlin shakes his head at the question. "No, Pokémon don't exist in my world. In my world, we just have normal animals that don't have any special powers. Though some are used to help people, like working for the police or guiding the blind," Merlin replies. He doesn't say though that he is glad that Pokémon don't exist in his world. If they did, then no doubt they would be experimented on and used as military weapons.

"I see, that is certainly interesting. Please, tell me more about this world of yours, I would like to know everything," the Alakazam says in childish amazement, which was quite amusing due to it's old appearance. Merlin smiles and nods head.

"Alright, I'll tell you everything I can."
