AN: hi guys and girls here chapter three I'm trying to get as much done as possible cause some times I struggle to keep posting for a story but I have a lot of this story planned out in my head so I'm hoping that won't happen but life is getting in the way at the moment so it will that more time than hoped.
Chapter 3
Doug's day had been going better that he could possibly have hopped, he had managed to finish his run in good time, he had Lonnie's reassurance that she had Mal and Evie's backs, even though he was sure they wouldn't really need her. Those girls had all the support they would ever need in each other and their boys.
His first class of the day, Fairy Tale History, had gone pretty well too, not one person had asked him about the kids from the isle or why he was hanging out with them, which made for a nice change seen as that was almost all anyone had talked over the last 24 hours.
He came out of class ready to head for chemistry when he saw Lonnie and Grace charging at him with big smiles on their faces, for one moment he wondered if he had any chance of escaping them, but they were closing in too fast and even he had to admit he had absolutely no hope.
"Hi girls are you ok?" he asked as they closed in on him.
"Yes, we are" Lonnie grinned brightly at him. "Look what we were able to get" she said waving what looked like to be a letter at him.
"A piece of paper" Doug asked puzzled.
"No, well yes but look what's on the paper" Grace said quickly almost bouncing with excitement as she grabbed the paper from Lonnie and practically shoved it into Doug's face making him back up a little before carefully take the paper from his cousin's hand.
"A permission slip?" he asked confused.
"You were saying the reason you didn't want to sing in her band was because you thought no one would want to see you, the band geek, sing" Lonnie said placing air quotes around the words band geek. "Well with this permission slip from Fairy God Mother you can practices in the quad at break" she finished with a smile.
"Now people will get to see you sing before we they book us for a gig, so they know what they are getting plus it's like free publicity for us" Grace said shooting Doug one last smile before taking off at a run.
"Hey where are you going" Doug shouted after her.
"To tell the other cousins about the practice" she called back weaving her way though the crowed and disappearing from sight at a surprising speed.
"Wow, that it the happiest I've seen her in a long time" Doug admitted looking down at the permission slip Lonnie had gotten for him. "How did you pull this off?" he asked her as they carried on to their next class together.
"Jane owed me, so a called in a favour" Lonnie explained "No backing out now Doug" she warned him, she didn't want all she and Jane had gone through to get that slip to be for nothing.
"I won't" Doug promised "I've got a good feeling about this, it's like my luck is finally changing"
"Speaking of luck, it looks like Evie might be fresh out of it" Lonnie said pointing out the confused looking young woman behind Doug. She was stood alone in the hallway looking to and frow slightly frantically, clearly unsure of where to go.
"This is the part where you go help her out" Lonnie whispered to Doug gently pushing him towards the girl he was obviously crushing on. It took a moment and a slightly harder push from his friend before the boys legs got the message and carried Doug to Evie's side.
"Hi Evie, is everything ok" he asked her.
"Um, I think I'm lost" she said still looking around. "Your Doug, right?" she asked as she finally stood still long enough to get a good look at him.
"Yeah, that's me if your lost I can help" he said giving her his friendliest smile.
Evie gave the smallest of nods but Doug continued to smile encouragingly at her, trying to remind her without words that he really was on her side.
"Can I see your class schedule please?" he asked.
Evie nodded again and handed it over. As she did so there fingers accidentally touch sending and shock though Doug's body.
Shimmering sapphires, what was that he wondered as he looked down at the class schedule, trying not to show any of what he just felt.
"You're in luck Evie" He smiled reassuringly "I'm in your next class so I can show you where it is, if you want me to" he offered.
"Really" Evie beamed at him "I did ask a few people, but they just ignored me" she gave a little pout and folded her arms in clear annoyance as she spoke. "It's like they don't know who I am" she fumed.
"They do know who you are Evie, at least they think they do" Duge countered. "That's the reason they Ignored you, there scared of you or more so who you mother is" he answers her as he started to lead the way to their next class.
"You're not?" The blue hair beauty asked.
"Why would I be" Doug asked her "you're your own person and you haven't done anything to scare me away" he said, his honest words earned him a warm look from Evie.
"Thanks" she smiled slightly at him "and thank you for helping out Carlos this morning" she added somewhat awkwardly.
"No worries" he replied with a smile.
"Can I ask, was that the first time you have thanked someone outside you friend group?" Doug asked.
"So, what if it was, you should be grateful you got any thanks at all" Evie voice rose as she glared at him and for the first time Doug got a glimpse of just how scary the pretty girl from the isle could be when she wanted to be, other students noticed too and started back away from the pair.
"Evie, relax I didn't mean anything by it, it was just a question, I feel kind of honoured to be your first Auradon thank you, I guess I need to work expressing myself better" he said with a feeble laugh, he couldn't help feeling slightly embarrassed at the scene he had somehow managed to cause.
Grace always told him that he wasn't as good with words as he seemed to think he was and in that moment, he couldn't help but agree with her.
After a few minutes of walking in silence Evie seemed to calm down and turned to Doug again. "Can I sit next to you in class? She asked. "it would be nice not to have to deal with people looking at me, like I'm about to curse them or something" she explained quietly, surprising him.
"Sure, I don't mind at all" he said with an easy smile.
"Are you sure about that?" Evie seemed genuinely unsure of herself for the first time since Doug had met her.
"like I would let one of my new friends sit on their own" Doug rushed to reassure the girl hoping to bring back her usual confidence, but he was surprised to see her wearing a look of visible shock instead'
"Is that's what we are? Friends?" she asked softly
"Yeah" Doug replied, he had thought that was a given after his chat with Carlos that morning but maybe it wasn't for Evie and the others. "Unless you don't want to be friends?" he said to Evie making it clear to her that the choice was hers and hers alone.
"I think I do" Evie said finally smiling brightly again and Doug released a breath he hadn't been aware he was holding. He was going to have to be careful around Evie, she was more easily hurt than she let on and had a smile that a man could get addicted to.
Chemistry class had always been one of Doug's favourites, it was a subject that he was simply good at and that made it fun for him. He was usually top of the class, but it seemed he might have some competition that year. Evie stunned everyone when she was called up to the board to solve one of the most complicated formulars Doug had ever seen.
Doug was still working out the answer himself as Evie breezed through it like she was reciting the ABC's. Doug was beyond impressed but unfortunately for Evie he wasn't the only one. Chad Charming slipped the isle girl a note as she walked past him and Doug knew exactly what that meant, the pig-headed prince had chosen his newest victim.
Doug tried to explain to Evie what Chad was planning, he was desperate to talk her out of meeting up with the other boy but Evie was not hearing him. She was so hung up on Chad being a prince she couldn't see him for the jerk he really was, even after he and his friends had started on Carlos that morning.
Evie practically skipped out of the room at the end of class and Doug felt he had no choice but to follow her. He watched as she headed for the sports field and was about to make his move when Lonnie seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"Come on Doug, you've got to get to the quad" she reminded him.
"I will" Doug assured her "but I have to deal with something first" he said turning to follow Evie.
"Oh no, not happening" Lonnie caught Doug by the shoulders and turned him back towards the quad "we only get 20 minutes for break and you are not missing this chance" she said pushing her friend along once again.
"No, Lonnie I have to deal with this" Doug protested, his feet scrabbled against the floor trying to halt his momentum, but Lonnie was too strong for him and he just kept going. "Chad going to make Evie his go to homework girl" he explained, and Lonnie froze in her tracks almost instantly.
"Fine" Lonnie sighed "you go to the quad, I'll deal with chad" she said cracking her neck and knuckles before turning to go in the same the direction Evie had.
"Really? Are you sure?" Doug checked, Lonnie was a strong and skilled young woman but she usually stayed out of other peoples business and let them make their own mistakes.
"Yes, it is part of our deal that I'll take care of her, remember" Lonnie said pulling her long dark hair up into a high ponytail. "Besides, I'd hate for Chad to get his hands on your first crush" she said before she literally ran off after Evie.
Lonnie's words shocked Doug but he filed them away for now, he could work out weather or not he was crushing on Evie later, right now he had a promise to keep. So putting all his faith in Lonnie he turned and made his way to the quad.
Lonnie had always been quick on her feet but she still didn't reach the bleacher's in time to stop Chad from pulling off the charade that had become his trademark over the years, he came sauntering out from under the sports benches leaving a besotted looking Evie with his backpack full of homework.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't little Lonnie" Chad said with a smirk, he tended to be a jerk to most people but he seemed to hold an especially strong dislike for Lonnie, it had started the year she had taken his spot on the track team from him and just grown from there.
"What exactly are you doing here?" he asked as he reached her.
"So, you have this year's homework girl" she said, ignoring his question all together.
"Yes, I do" Chad beamed clearly proud of himself, "are you sad that I didn't choose you Lonnie?" he asked her in a winey, baby like voice as he place his hand on her shoulder.
Chad really should have known better than to make that mistake, moving more quickly than most Lonnie caught his arm spun beneath it and twisted it behind his back, the force of her manoeuvre bought the boy to his knees.
"1) You are never to touch me again Charming you got that" Lonnie spat twisting his arm a little harder to hammer home her message, she waited for some reaction from Chad before she continued. All the boy could do was yelp and nod but Lonnie took that as his agreement.
"2) you are going to go back to Evie and tell her you magically you found the time to do your own homework and 3) You are never going to ask her to do it again am I making myself clear?" she growled in his ear twisting his arm just a little more.
"Ok, Ok, Ok, just let go I have a game next week" Chad gasped finally finding his words just as Evie happened upon them.
"What's going on guys?" she asked seeming to be genuinely surprised at what she was seeing. Lonnie couldn't help but feel sorry for the other girl, despite where she came from Evie really did seem to be quite sweet.
"Evie" Chad panted as he got to his feet "change of plans I found time to do my homework" he said taking his bag back, glaring at Lonnie the whole time.
"Really? So, maybe we can hang out sometime" Evie asked brightly, she was so happy she even bounced on her toes a little and Lonnie decided then and there that even if Doug never sung one single note for Grace's band, she was still going to have this girl's back every step of the way, she deserved protection, something Chad clearly had no intention of giving her.
"Oh god no" the pompous wind bag of a prince laughed, "why would I want to spend time with a Villain kid and not get anything out of it" a look of genuine hurt washed over Evie's face and Lonnie couldn't remember the last time she had felt so angry, she took a step towards Chad to deal with him, but Evie beat her to it.
The petite beauty placed a hand on each of Chad's shoulders to hold him steady and keep him where she wanted him. Lonnie could see what was coming a mile off, it had been the first self-defence move her mother had ever taught her but Chad was completely shocked when Evie bought her knee up almost violently to connect with his crown jewels
The once proud prince crumpled like a piece of paper and lay in a helpless ball on the ground.
"Trust me I can do a lot worse than that" Evie seethed as she stood over Chad with her fists balled, the boy practically shrieked as he tried to crawl to safety, as far away from Evie as he could get.
"Wow Chad, you never thought you'd be scared of a girl, did you" Lonnie taunted the retreating boy before turning to check on Evie.
"Are you ok?" she asked the girl who was still shaking with anger.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be" she said trying to fake a smile but Lonnie wasn't falling for it
"Oh, I don't know Evie" Lonnie sighed "maybe because you're a Princess that literally met Prince Charming and he turned out to be a jerk who just wanted to use you to do his homework, I mean if that happened to me I'd be pretty mad about the whole thing, but that just me" she finished.
"Is that really all people see Lonnie?" Evie asked in a small sad voice, her previous anger seeming to slip away.
"What do you mean" Lonnie asked, she really wasn't sure what Evie was asking her.
"Do people look at me and my friends and just see villain kids" Evie asked softly.
"Not everyone" Lonnie answered honestly, she wanted to flat out say no but that wasn't the truth and right now lies wouldn't help Evie, even well-meaning ones would do more harm than good. "I don't see villain kids and neither do Doug and Ben" she told the girl.
"So, that's three people in the whole kingdom are prepared to give us a chance" Evie surmised, and Lonnie didn't think she had ever heard anyone sound more disappointed than Evie did in that moment.
"You've only been here a day and a half just give it time" Lonnie said placing a reassuring hand on Evie's shoulder, she so desperately wanted to make things better for the other girl but she knew she couldn't so she would have to settle for cheering her up instead.
"Hey, I have something fun you'll want to and see" Lonnie said in a much brighter tone she grabbed Evie by the hand and pulled her along so forcefully that the girl from the isle had little choice but to follow.
"Where are we going?" Evie asked when she finally got her feet to move at the same pace as Lonnie's.
"To the quad" Lonnie said "you need to dance Chad the jerk out of your head and for that you need some good music" she explained with a smile.
And that is chapter 3 done from now I will be adding in some songs from different Disney shows and movies also some songs from other place's that I feel fit with the story, hope you enjoyed this chapter.
