Scott slumped against his kitchen counter as everyone filed into his house. This had been their hardest fight yet and they'd just barely come out on top. There was still work to be done, but for now they could relax.
He'd called for everyone to meet at his house, so he could check in and make sure they were all okay. His mom was staying behind to help deal with the chaos at the hospital and Sheriff Stilinski was doing the same at the station with Parrish. Knowing that all of them had miraculously made it was more than he could ask for.
"Man, I've missed this place," Stiles sighed, patting the refrigerator like they were old friends.
"We missed you too. It just wasn't the same," Lydia agreed, wrapping Stiles' arms around her.
"It was kind of the same," Malia shrugged, raising her eyebrows at everyone's stares. "I'm just saying, there was danger and fighting. Not much different than before."
"She does have a point," Mason agreed from his spot next to Corey.
"Who are all these people? I only recognize like half of them," Jackson muttered to Ethan. Ethan just shrugged and put his arm around his shoulders.
"The pack sure has grown," Derek said with pride, looking around the room.
"You always were a softie when it came to that sort of thing," Peter scoffed, earning a glare from almost everyone. He'd lost the right to talk about pack business a long time ago.
Scott looked around at everybody, feeling satisfied with this group they'd created. They weren't all his pack, but they were friends. Maybe not Peter though. Or Theo. A sharp knock at the door broke Scott from his musings and he turned to see Chris pop his head into the room and then walk in. But he wasn't alone.
"Isaac?" Scott gasped, looking up into the eyes of his long lost Beta. If he wasn't sure the Anuk-ite was dead, he would've thought this was a trick.
"Hey Scott," Isaac said, tipping his head in greeting. That wasn't good enough for Scott and he rushed over and wrapped the taller boy into a hug. Not really a boy anymore though. Isaac gave him a friendly pat on the back and they broke apart. Scott looked up into his eyes and tried to remember the last time they'd seen each other. It was right after they trapped the Nogitsune, before Isaac went off with Chris. If Scott had known he was planning on leaving, he would've said something. And after Chris came back without him, he figured leaving him alone would be respecting Isaac's wishes. But there was always that regret in the back of his mind.
"Derek didn't tell you I was back?" Isaac asked, flicking his eyes toward his former Alpha.
"Things have been a little crazy," Derek said defensively, but he softened the slightly tense words with a smile and came over to give Isaac his own hug.
"This is different," Isaac snorted, looking around the group.
"Nah, Derek is all tender now," Stiles laughed, pushing his way over. "Don't hog him, I want a hug too."
"You don't even like me," Isaac reminded him, accepting the hug nonetheless.
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? I was even kind of happy to see Jackson, once I knew he wasn't gonna make a move on Lydia," Stiles chuckled, shooting a thumbs up in Jackson's direction.
"I wouldn't speak so soon," Jackson bragged, flashing a cocky grin.
"Excuse me?" Lydia and Ethan asked simultaneously.
"Who is he?" Liam asked Scott under his breath.
"He was one of Derek's Betas, then mine, but then he left," Scott explained.
"So you didn't turn him?"
"No, you're the first one I ever bit," Scott replied. Liam sighed a little in relief. Scott wasn't sure why it would matter, but he'd never had that kind of relationship with the wolf who'd turned him. Peter was just kind of the guy they tolerated now.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you're still teacher's pet," Theo sneered. Liam rolled his eyes in annoyance and Scott couldn't blame him. He still wasn't sure about Theo's place among them, even after helping out recently. Too much bad blood.
"And who are you?" Isaac asked, stepping up to stand in front of the chimera. He sniffed a little, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "What are you?"
"How about you get out of my face?" Theo growled, flashing his yellow eyes.
"How about you make me?" Isaac challenged with a grin, flashing his own. Scott rushed forward to get between them, not needing more destruction in his kitchen. He was about to tell Isaac to relax when his words got caught in his throat. This wasn't a chimera facing off against an Omega, this was a chimera facing off against an Alpha.
"Isaac?" Scott gasped, seeing Isaac's red gaze mirroring his own.
"Oh my God," Stiles mumbled, staring at them in shock.
"Theo, you should probably leave," Scott suggested, waving Liam over to come take him away.
"Why do I have to go with him? We're not really friends," Liam whined.
"We'll come too," Mason offered, pulling Corey along with him. He grabbed Theo's arm and dragged him along, leaning closer to Liam and whispering in his ear. "I think I like this new guy."
"Isaac, how- what- what happened?" Scott stammered, looking up at him in bewilderment. Isaac sighed, running his hands through his hair.
"It's kind of a long story."
