Creating a Legacy
Chapter 2: Royal Rumble 1999
Royal Rumble - Sunday, January 24th, 1999
Anaheim, California
Off-Screen
The past few days had been pretty hectic for the brand new WWF Superstar. Ever since debuting on Raw is War a few nights ago, he had been getting calls left and right from family and friends congratulating him on his debut. Surprisingly even his mother was okay with him being a WWF Superstar. When he was training his father was the only parent who really supported him on his dream, his mother believed it was too dangerous and that it was a career that couldn't really do anything for him but he proved her wrong.
After his debut, he and a few friends in the locker room had gone out drinking and ultimately ended up getting drunk and getting laid. Afterwards, he had a house show on Tuesday, Wednesday with them both being in different parts of Pennsylvania. Thursday and Friday he was able to return home having a bit of time with his family before he had to get back on the road and go do a show for Shotgun Saturday and be ready to be on call for the WWF Royal Rumble. So it was safe to say the schedule for a WWF Superstar was crazy and hectic but it was definitely something that Logan loved.
Logan walked backstage with his duffle bag on his shoulder. He was booked on the card but he was on call which still meant he had to suit up. On call meant if any one that was booked in the Rumble had to be taken out then he would be inserted into the match. He walked down the hallway and made his way into the locker room hearing shouting almost immediately upon walking in making him frown.
"Come on Vince, you know damn well this ain't right." Logan heard his co-worker David Heath AKA Gangrel shouted. Logan hadn't met David yet but so far the attitude he was giving to his boss wasn't something that made him exactly want to meet him.
"David, I am doing what is best for business and right now you and Sean are not what the crowd wants to see."
"That's bullshit. It's not what you want to see." David said walking out of the locker room making sure to bump shoulders with Logan on his way out, making the bigger man turn and look at his co-worker.
"Hey Logan, you're just the man I wanted to see. Listen tonight we're calling an audible. You're suiting up against X-Pac for the European title. And we want a heel turn from you."
"What? But I just got-" Logan was saying before his friend, Paul came running towards him and putting a hand over his mouth stopping him from saying anything else at this point.
"What Logan was saying is that he's thankful for the opportunity." Paul said as Vince looked at the two with a puzzled look on his face before he simply shrugged and walked out of the locker room leaving the young rookie and the 4-year WWF Vet in the locker room.
"Damn man, don't you know how to shut up and just take advantage of your opportunities."
"Well, I know now but don't you think it's a little quick. Man I just got here this week. My try-out match truth be told wasn't even a match."
"Look man, I've been here for 4 years. I've seen a lot of guys come and go. I've seen a lot of guys walk in and get opportunities like this. I've seen a lot of guys be here for years and never get an opportunity. But you just walked in and you got one. So man you should be thankful."
"I am but this just feels rushed."
"Well, maybe it is but Vince sees something in you and he's willing to give you the monster push right out the gate. Just be grateful and accept it."
"Well, I guess you're right."
"Please don't tell him that. His head is already big enough, he doesn't need a ego boost." Joanie pitched in making Logan and Paul chuckle.
"Too late." Paul smirked.
Later That Day
Logan walked backstage dressed in his ring gear this time with a roll of black wrist tape taping his wrist and getting himself mentally ready to compete for a title in only his second match in the World Wrestling Federation.
This was truly an amazing opportunity and he was grateful to have it but at the same time, he had to be humble and be realistic. He was only a rookie. He wasn't ready for that kind of responsibility yet. He wasn't ready for that type of spotlight yet or that's how he felt at least. But Vince felt something different in his mind. He saw something different. And who was Logan to argue with his boss especially when his boss was trying to give him a title shot.
"Hey Kid." He heard making him turn around to see the man who would be entering the Royal Rumble at the #1 Spot, Steven Anderson AKA "Stone Cold" Steve Austin walking towards him in his ring gear.
"I wasn't able to catch-up with you Monday Night. I'm Steve." Steve said as he held his hand out. Logan eagerly shook hands with the face of the WWF.
"I'm Logan. Logan Walker."
"Well, Logan. I heard you got a title match tonight. You nervous?"
"Hell yeah, I'm new here. Just started on Monday and I'm already getting a title shot. Personally I don't feel as if I deserve it but Vince feels otherwise."
"Yeah, don't tell the bastard I said this but one good thing about Vince is that he sees the talent in us even if we don't see it in ourselves." Logan nodded along as Steve gave him a word of advice.
"So what do I do if I get heat?"
"I can't really help you there. All I can do is give you advice. And that advice is to try and ignore it. That's all I can suggest that route."
"Thank you and I won't tell Vince what you said."
"Good 'cause I've had to stomp a mudhole in your ass if you did." Steve said, making Logan chuckle.
On-Screen
"The Brood" as Gangrel walked through the curtain for his European title match against X-Pac tonight in Anaheim. The fans were giving Gangrel a mixed reaction before the cheers seemed to get louder all of a sudden.
Gangrel was caught by surprise as he was attacked from behind by Logan Cage who attacked him with a clubbing blow causing the Vampire-like wrestler to hit the ground hard. The music stopped as Logan began to stomp nonstop on the body of Gangrel before he turned his over and mounted on top hitting with a series of right hands to the head. Logan grabbed Gangrel lifting him up to his feet. The new WWF Superstar backed up and ran towards Gangrel full speed hitting him with the K.O.D as the fans in the arena had been hushed seeing the assault that Logan Cage was putting on Gangrel.
Logan smirked as he rose to his feet slowly inspecting his work while his music hit the PA System. Logan proceeded to make his way down the ramp seemingly taking Gangrel's spot in the match. He reached the ringside area and took his place inside of the ring.
"Make Some Noise" hit the PA System as the fans immediately began cheering in Anaheim as the "Wild Kid" of D-Generation-X walked out onto the stage as the lights went to a green lighting. X-Pac had the WWF European Championship around his waist as he was excited doing the crotch chop excitedly on the stage.
"The following contest is scheduled for one fall is for the European Championship. Introducing first, standing in the ring, from Houston, Texas. Weighing in at 272 Pounds. Logan Cage!"
"And his opponent, from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Weighing in at 212 Pounds. He is the European Champion, X-Pac!" X-Pac walked down the ramp and entered the ring. He looked around the crowd and turned back around facing the hard cam with his back to Logan.
Logan refused to wait for X-Pac to turn around and ran towards X-Pac hitting him with a clubbing blow to the back causing him to drop down to the mat as the fans booed him while referee Theodore Long called for the bell to start the match up.
Ding-Ding-Ding!
Logan bent down unstrapping the title from around X-Pac waist and throwing it off to the side before he began to stomp down on X-Pac beating him down with aggression before he bent down grabbing him by his hair lifting him up before whipping him hard into the corner. X-Pac groaned as his spine collided with the turnbuckle causing him to drop down onto the mat in pain. Logan walked towards X-Pac grabbing him by the hair making him rise up to his feet in pain before Logan once again whipped X-Pac hard into the corner causing the spine to hit the turnbuckle pad.
Logan smiled as he walked towards X-Pac before grabbing by his hair making him slowly rise up to his feet groaning. Since the opening bell, the young rookie had been giving the work to the European Champion beating him down. X-Pac shook his head as the fans cheered before he slapped Logan across the face making Logan look at him with anger in his face. Logan clocked X-Pac with a headbutt making him fall in the corner. The challenger then made it his mission to physically beat down X-Pac with a series of rights making him fall down in the corner but that wasn't it. Logan stomped a mudhole into X-Pac as he put the boots to him before leaving the corner as the count had gotten up to 4.
The man who made his WWF debut just a few days mounted over the current Champion and put a series of fist to the head before he once again let up due to the count. He looked around at the booing fans with a sadistic smile. He looked back down at X-Pac and frowned before he placed his hand around the throat of X-Pac squeezing as he applied pressure, choking the Champion up until another count. He was taking advantage of the referee's count as he beat down X-Pac. He wrapped his hand around the throat of X-Pac before getting him with a deadlift to his feet. He tossed X-Pac to ropes and backed up into the opposite set of ropes. When X-Pac came off the ropes he was clocked with the K.O.D. As much as he wanted to continue beating down X-Pac, he had to remember he came to win the title more than anything else.
He stood up and placed his foot over the chest of X-Pac as the referee started the count.

Ding-Ding-Ding!
"Symphony of Destruction" played on the PA System as Logan looked down at X-Pac while the referee raised his hand in victory while the fans booed.
"Here is your winner and the NEW European Champion: Logan Cage!"
Theordore Long handed the title to Logan who raised it up in the air with a smirk on his face. This was his first piece of WWF Gold and it felt amazing to say he was a Champion in the WWF. However hsi celebration had to be short lived as the members of DX came running down the ramp and sliding into the ring and while Logan never ran from a fight, this was a fight he would have to fight another day as he looked at the numbers disadvantage.
Triple H looked at Logan bad mouthing him while Logan simply said nothing and raised the title in the air with a smirk on his face.
Off-Screen
Logan walked backstage with a smile that couldn't be wiped away which was understandable considering he just won his first title in the company. His gaze was focused on the strap in his hands up until he heard clapping making him look up to see his boss and his boss's son.
"Good work Logan. Of course David's a bit upset and Sean is too but it's nothing a little time and money won't fix but a good job." Vince said before walking away from Logan with Shane following.
"Good job." Shane said as he walked away with his father. And the thought soon crept into his mind: Did he truly deserve this title? And what did that say about him? In a way he felt bad for taking the title from Sean and taking the chance from David but it's like Paul said, you just have to accept your pushes even if they seem a bit out of place.
A/N: And that's that, damn it's been a while since I last updated this story. I'm gonna try to get more active on this site if I can help it. But hope you guys enjoyed it. And I gave Logan the European title considering that I do plan on Logan having a monster push in the next year or so, kinda like how they did Diesel in the span of 1 year.
