As Caitlin arrived at the address that Barry gave her, the location was almost what she expected. It was just a large apartment and when she got closer to the door, she could hear some music playing inside.
Caitlin knocked on the door and a stranger answered it. "You must be Caitlin. I am Cisco, Barry's roommate." He said as he opened the door politely and gestured her in. Caitlin thanked him with a smile.
She the started to search for Barry as she did not know anyone else there. After a few minutes of wandering around shyly, she finally found him. "Hey Caitlin!" Barry exclaimed. After exchanging greetings, he guided her over to some chairs. "Can I get you something to drink?" She politely declined.
"So, tell me about yourself Cait, what's your major?" Somehow, she felt relaxed around Barry and comfortable enough to open now. "Bio-Engineering." "Impressive. What got you interested in that?" "I suppose it's just like an inner drive to want to guide me to help others in the best way that I can." Barry smiled, "that's beautiful."
"How about you…" Barry could hardly make out the words for Cisco had just turned up the music. "Follow me," he said guiding them into what appeared to be his room. While Barry just jumped onto the bed, Caitlin still stood in the corner unsure of what to do.
"Well take a seat." He said jokingly, gesturing to what looked to be a comfortable chair in the corner. She did so and they continued their conversation. Barry explaining how he chose to major in forensic science because he wanted to become a CSI. "That's unusual." She spoke. Barry was not sure how to take that comment, so he just dismissed it. He explained that ever since one of his good friends was murdered right in front of him, he had always felt the need to help others. "But it was a long time ago," Barry ended onto his explanations to quickly change the subject.
Caitlin could tell that was a sore spot for Barry, so she dropped it. Eventually they just started chatting about different things. Anything really. Even though they had not known each other for very long, they both felt very comfortable around each other. Like they could open up to each with other just about anything. Like they had not known each other for days, but they had in fact known each other for years. At least that is what it felt like to Caitlin.
It was getting latter in the evening and now about half the people had gone home. Caitlin and Barry both still enjoying each other's company, Caitlin had moved onto the other end of his bed by now without even realizing.
They were now sitting side-by-side with their legs hanging off the bed. There was a small moment of silence broken by, "Thank you for everything Barry. I really needed this." "You're welcome Caitlin, what are friends for." Barry replied as he kissed her on the cheek. Her cheeks turned bright red. As Barry walked her out then, she was both troubled by what he said as well in awe of the amazing night that she had.
After exchanging goodbyes, Caitlin started to walk back to her car deep in thought.
By the time she had gotten back to her apartment she could tell Maggie was gone. Caitlin didn't think too much of it, just that she needed to tell someone about her night.
When she got into her apartment, she was lucky to still see Alex still up and asked if she could tell them about what happened. They sat down and Alex listened while Caitlin talked. She knew these kinds of chats made her feel uncomfortable, but that is what made Alex such a good friend, the willingness to have them. Eventually Caitlin pointed out that she might be falling for Barry.
After a long chat, they both went to bed almost instantly for they both seemed to be exhausted.
