Steve is standing in front of a tombstone.
James Bucannun Barnes. 1917- 1945.
He placed a plate of chocolate cake in front of the tombstone and two cans of beer.
"Hey, Buck. Happy birthday. I remember you always liked chocolate cake. Try this one. It's from the best bakery in New York. I have to wait three days for this. You will like it."
Steve took a seat next to the tomb.
"Remember that one time on your birthday, we waited in line for two hours to buy the chocolate cake in May's? And the guy in front of you bought the last one so your only option left was strawberry? You were mad for the whole day until I made a chocolate cake for you."
Steve said as he chuckled to himself. He cracked open a can of beer.
"You know, I just woke up and found myself 70 years later and people are going crazy. All those high technologies, you will be so stunned when you see them! So many things have changed since then." Steve looked at the tomb. "Do you remember Howard Stark? His son, Tony Stark, he's a brilliant engineer, just like his dad. He builded so many high tech suits! They fire bombs!"
He took a sip out of the can.
"I wish you could be here too. To see how much the world has changed. Maybe we can sit together and complain about how the old ways were better." He smiled as he looked at the sky.
"I really miss you buddy. I really do."
He paused a moment and took a big gulp out of the beer. He looked at the tomb again. Taking a deep breath, he prepared what he was going to say.
"Did you know that gay marriage is legal now? Crazy right? I wish this happened earlier, so I can tell someone about how I feel."
Another gulp.
"But to be honest, even if it was legal back then, I don't think I would have had the gut to confess."
He smiled to himself.
"If you were here, you would have pat me on the back and laugh 'hey, who is the attractive man that made the mighty Captain America such a chicken?'"
Pause and another sip.
"Buck, it was you. I don't know if it's love at first sight or it just came within time, but by the time I realized, I have been in love with you for a long time."
"James Buchanan Barnes." Steve Rogers said as he stood up. "I love you. I really do." Tears filled up in his eyes as he raised his head and finished the last bit of his beer. "I wish I can tell you this sooner, to you."
He patted the dirt off his pants, left some flowers on the tomb.
"I'm sorry."
He whispered.
Then he left.
That day when the janitor was passing by the tomb of James Barnes, he saw a piece of the best chocolate cake in New York and some roses.
