Chapter 2

Senju Compound

Tobirama Senju had been lazing around his garden in the Senju Compound, the one his brother created those all those years ago. Oh, how he missed his brother. While he may have been an idiot and too carefree for Tobirama's taste, he knew that he loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. This was also the reason his brother sought after world peace and the significant end of the clan wars, so that young children did not have to meet the end of their lives which had barely begun in the first place. A fate different from their younger brothers.

This was also the reason why he was deeply saddened when all of the Senju, save for himself and Tsunade died in the 3 Great Wars. Even the infants were murdered in cold blood by the shinobi of different villages. This was not the village his brother had dreamed of establishing. After looking at the village, he could only conclude one thing: Madara was right. He could see how the people in this village behaved, how feeble their trust was in themselves and in the shinobi of the village. He knew that the root cause of this were his ungrateful students and the idiots in the civilian council. Even if he knew that now, there was nothing he could do. He was not the Hokage anymore, he had left that responsibility in the hands of Hiruzen, who did a shitty job as a Hokage due to his pacifist nature and inability to make stern decisions, and now Minato. Tobirama knew how capable the blonde was, but he was easily influenced by the people he loved or respected, especially the pervert Jiraiya. Why Hiruzen wanted to choose him for Hokage was above him. He had nominated Orochimaru as a leading candidate for the post, while Hiruzen wanted Jiraiya. For weeks the two had argued back and forth, regarding the decision of choosing a candidate. Finally, after the two realized that they could never choose either of them as it would sow seeds of envy and resentment in the team, they turned towards the younger generation. They knew that both Fugaku and Minato were talented, but after the Third War, they had come to a decision and chosen Minato, since they knew he would be able to shape and improve the village, like they hoped.

But today he was about to get a wake-up call, that his decision could have been better.

A few moments before Naruto found Hashirama's Tomb

The silver haired man had been working on a few seals to improve the village's defenses using his sister-in-law, Mito Uzumaki's notes, when suddenly the left side of his working table lit up and gave off a bloodthirsty red glow. Looking at this, his eyes widened to epic proportions. How had someone entered the Senju Grove? Contrary to what the people believed, his elder brother, the Shodai Hokage was not buried at the Hokage Cemetery in the Shinobi Graveyard. Hashirama always loved his family and nature, and his dying wish was to be buried somewhere where both of them would be present. This led to Tobirama burying his brother's real body in the Senju Grove, a small forest created by Hashirama just outside the clan district. The Senju Grove symbolized what Hashirama always desired: peace.

The assortment of flowers, bushes and huge, dense trees that surrounded the small lush green field, were all grown by his brother using his prized possession that nobody in the world inherited, The Mokuton. Only Tobirama and Mito Uzumaki knew where Hashirama's real body was buried. A secret not known to anyone but them. And he intended to keep it that way. Which was the reason why the area surrounding the grove had a barrier to prevent anyone from entering the site and keeping the grove hidden using a self-sustaining genjutsu that worked on Nature Energy, that not even the Cursed Sharingan could see past. The barrier was created by his brother's late wife and can only be considered a masterpiece. The barrier is a Level 9 Uzumaki Sealing Barrier that not even Konoha's seal masters, the Yondaime, the self-proclaimed super pervert, and Konoha's last Uzumaki could decipher (A.N: Uzumaki fuinjutsu far outclasses the level of Konoha's seal masters. Even Kushina is not of that caliber simply because she left Uzu before she could complete her training. A level 1 Uzumaki sealer is comparable to a normal Level 3 sealer. Kushina only practiced till level 2 and stopped. When she came to Konoha she continued and reached the normal level of seal master at level 10, which is somewhere in between Uzumaki level 4 and 5, same for Minato. Jiraiya and Orochimaru are also skilled but are only at Level 8.)

So, imagine Tobirama's surprise when he was notified that someone was not only able to see the grove but even entered it. And he wasn't even a shinobi?! It was just a kid, probably 3-4 years old. Even if he was the Hokage's son if his hair and eyes were anything to go by, there was no way a child could find something even S-class Shinobi couldn't find. This made Tobirama really curious about who this child was and what he could potentially become? Keeping those things in mind he made his way forward towards the redhead and asked him a simple question, "Child, how did you get in here? More importantly, how did you even find this place?"

He watched on in amusement as the child swivelled around and landed on his butt, surprise and nervousness evident on his face. While the child stuttered, trying to figure out a response to explain his reasons for being here, Tobirama observed the child intently. He was wearing normal civilian clothes, nothing to extravagant, unlike his siblings, whom he had seen walking around the village as if they own the place. His eyes were a little red and his shirt looked a little drenched, meaning he could be crying about something or performing really heavy exercises, but he thought option 1 was more viable. He continued observing the child's behaviour and what he held in his hand made him lose his usually stoic composure for the second time. The child was holding on to his brother's necklace, the one he had left here in his memory and the letter that his brother had him write on his deathbed and put it over his tombstone, along with the necklace.

He was cut out of his musings when the child in front of him spoke nervously, "S-sorry sir, I don't know how I came here, I just felt a chakra signature coming from this part of the forest and made my way here to see who it was. I didn't know we are not supposed to enter this place I'll leave now if you wish. I apologize for coming here."

Tobirama understood that he was a very well-mannered child, but one thing he said intrigued the aged ex-Hokage. "You said that you could sense a chakra signature being emitted from this part, could you elaborate on that?"

"Uhm sure. I mean I don't know if its normal or not but when people are close to me, I can sense them around, so I read further on it and found out it's called chakra sensing, and the people who are capable of it are called sensors. But if I focus hard enough then I can sense your emotions as well."

Tobirama was completely amazed by the child's abilities. Even he as a sensor couldn't sense a person's emotions, not to mention the fact that he unlocked that ability when he was around 10 years old and his father had asked for him and his brothers to join the clan wars. Just from the few words that he heard the child say he knew that he will grow up to be a fine shinobi that will make himself known throughout the elemental nations, through purely his skill and not the deeds of his parents and relatives.

He was thinking about all this when he saw a few tear stains still present down the sides of the child's eyes. "Naruto why are you here and not with your family? And forgive me but I couldn't help but notice that you were crying, is everything alright child?" the silver haired man asked.

This made Naruto put his guard up and narrow his eyes, eyeing the man suspiciously. He stepped back a few times and made some distance between the two before he addressed the man, "Sir, how do you know my name and why are you asking me all these questions? Who are you?"

The man chuckled as he saw the child bringing his fists up close to his chest, trying to intimidate him. "Well Naruto, your father is my successor and your godmother is my grandniece. Can you guess my identity now?" the man answered him, amused by his reaction as he put everything together in his head and his eyes widened as realization struck him.

"Oh wait, you're the Nidaime Hokage, Tobirama Senju, one of the Kami no Shinobi. They also call you Shinobi no Suijin (Shinobi's God of Water). I'm sorry for my rudeness sir!" the boy replied as he bowed down to the man in front of him.

The man in question just chuckled at the boy's behaviour and decided to address the dark horse in the room. "Well Naruto what are you doing here and why are you not with your family?" Tobirama knew something was wrong by the state of the boy; he guessed it had to do with his family somehow but he knew nothing beyond that.

After looking at Tobirama for a few moments Naruto decided to let it all out. He recited his tale to the Senju, from the moment something went wrong with his brother during the time his father was teaching him how to throw kunai, to the moment he ran out of his house after the bizarre revelation that was made in the living room.

At the end of his rant when he looked up to see the expression on his idol's face, he immediately knew someone who had starred in his tale would be in trouble, and he had a good guess about who it was.

Tobirama was fuming inside. 'Have those idiots lost their bloody minds!?' he thought to himself. 'I knew that bigoted pervert was an idiot but this is a whole new level of idiocy from him. And the fact that the boy's parents and Tsunade of all people agreed to his pathetic reasoning is even more troubling. I know how this entire fiasco will end. An innocent boy that could possibly be the strongest shinobi in Konoha when he reaches adulthood, will be made a mockery out of in front of the entire elemental nations and will only serve as a means to create another rogue nin that could possibly be the most threatening one since Madara. No, I won't let this happen. I can't fail my brother!'

Tobirama had seen his brother go from a hot-headed and childlike person to a quiet and calculative one. While many agreed that the change was good, he knew exactly why his brother turned that way. One of the reasons was the fact that he couldn't help his brother in all but blood, Madara Uchiha, when he needed it the most had hurt him deeply, leading to him becoming isolated and changing his personality overall. Something that never sat well with neither Mito nor him. After seeing his brother in that state, he made a vow to never abandon anyone in need of his guidance, even if they are an Uchiha.

After looking at the teary-eyed boy in front of him, who was made out to be 'nothing' by idiots because of something he had no control over, made him ask the child something he never thought he would ask anyone, not after how his only other students turned out to be. So, after giving it some more thought he finally got the question out of his mind and presented the boy with an opportunity. "If your parents really do decide to not train you, would you like me to teach you as my apprentice?"

After he asked his question, Tobirama watched intently as the boy in front of him widened his eyes but quickly hid his shock and went into a thinking pose, as if he was contemplating whether to take the offer of one of the strongest shinobi the world has ever seen. Once again, he was amused by the boy's behaviour. He seemed like a mixture of Hashirama and a young Madara, before he went insane.

Naruto was considering his idol's offer. He understood that this was the opportunity of a lifetime, but he still hesitated. He thought that his parents would go further and prohibit him from training with Tobirama and even he would realize that Naruto is 'nothing' since he doesn't have the Kyuubi's power. But when he weighed the pros and cons of the situation, the pros outweighed the cons by a massive degree. The way he looked at this arrangement, he had had a lot to gain and fairly little to lose. And so, he gave the man a nod of acceptance and bowed low in front of his new sensei to portray his gratitude.

"Excellent. Now I want you to understand I am extremely brutal when training my students. Should you slack off, your training will end immediately, and believe me I'll know if you do," the Nidaime responded. Naruto gave a swift nod to show he understands his words and Tobirama then continued, "I'll train you in how to access your chakra; chakra control, since your bound to have large reserves due to your Uzumaki and Senju lineage and hence this will help you mould it perfectly; Shurikenjutsu; Ninjutsu based on your affinities, which we will find out later; and to train your body and mind to perfection. You will have to find a taijutsu style suited for you as my style has been developed to complement my strengths and I expect all my students to the same. Till then you will learn the basic fist style of the academy, and master it to perfection. Sarutobi also did the same, until he found the monkey fist style from his summons. If you ever decide to learn fighting using weapons you may ask for my sword style or could find a style that complements your own very well. Iron Country is usually a good place to search for something like this. My motto is extremely simple to grasp yet a thousand times more difficult to follow. 'Mind, technique, body.' This has been the rule I have lived by my entire life and I expect you to follow it as well. If you do, you can be rest assured nobody will be able to intimidate you on the field, even if there's a war going on.

I should also tell you that during the time you are training with me it is my job to make sure you are never outwitted by anyone and your job is to ensure that you would never be outwitted by anyone. Any questions?"

Naruto heard the man say how the training sessions with him were going to be like and things he needed to know. But one thing stood out among the masses, and so he addressed the issue. "Sensei you said that I had large chakra reserves because of both my Uzumaki and Senju Lineage? How am I a Senju? Is it because Tsunade-sama is my father's aunt?"

Tobirama raised his eyebrows at the mention of 'Tsunade-sama' and not 'Tsunade-baachan', which was what he heard the Hokage's kids called his grandniece. But apparently, she missed one and if his current situation was anything to go by, it certainly would not be his last. Regardless he began clearing the doubts of his new apprentice. "Well, you see Naruto, you do have Senju genes in you, which most likely must be latent. You are not a direct descendent of the Senju. The Uzumaki Clan are a cousin Clan of the Senju, hence some genes within our body must be similar, due to us sharing a common ancestor. But it seems your Senju genes are somewhat dominant since you were able to enter this place. This place, Naruto, is called the Senju Grove. It was created by my elder brother, Hashirama Senju using his prized ability, the Mokuton. He came here to be at peace, the one dream he was never able to fulfil. After he passed away, me and my sister-in-law Mito Uzumaki buried his real body here and created a fake tomb at the cemetery to steer people away from his actual resting place. We also added multiple barriers to hide it using a highly overpowered genjutsu that worked using seals and nature energy, and a barrier surrounding the entire grove that prevents people from entering. However, as a failsafe, my sister-in-law also created another seal which covered the grove. That seal ensured that should a Senju with a pure heart ever face a dilemma that could affect his life greatly, they will be able to go through the barrier, but they have to locate it on their own. How she created such an advanced seal? I have no idea. The Uzumaki were greatly advanced when it came to sealing. Their prowess was unmatched and even then, the most talented Uzumaki's were only able to reach level 6 or 7 of the Uzumaki Sealing Arts. Mito Uzumaki, was the only one who reached Level 9. Even then she still had 3 levels left to go through. Nobody knows what lies in the mysteries of the Uzumaki Sealing Arts. Even your mother isn't that advanced."

Naruto could only nod while dazed. His ancestors were awesome! He knew his father and mother were great seal masters, but he doubted that even they could accomplish such feats. Now he definitely wanted to learn fuinjutsu. He had read some books on the history of Uzushiogakure, the country from where his mother came from. His father had a couple of books on its history and how it was destroyed. It seems someone as skilled as Mito Uzumaki had created a failsafe that should Uzushio get destroyed or if the Clan is wiped out, the entire island should seal itself off, preventing raiders from essentially raping their country of its prized possessions. He was most certainly going to make a visit to his ancestral roots and uncover the secrets of the Uzumaki.

Tobirama watched as the child took everything in and the started explaining the other part of his question. "Also, you are not blood related to Tsunade. It is actually not a very happy story. You see Naruto, the Sannin earned their moniker during the Second Great Shinobi War. During this time, Tsunade met and fell in love with Dan Kato, a Konoha Jonin who was also a medic-nin and shared similar beliefs to her. Both of them had lost their siblings during the first phase of the war, due to the absence of a medic-nin on the teams their siblings were on which resulted in them not receiving immediate treatment, which led to their passing. Tsunade lost her brother Nawaki, my grandnephew and Dan lost his sister Mia, a jonin who was married to jonin named Arashi Namikaze, your paternal grandmother and grandfather. Your father I believe had just entered the academy at age 7 and Shizune had just been born I believe. After their parents passed away, Dan and Tsunade took care of them whenever they returned to Konoha from the frontlines. However, one day even Dan returned bloodied and even though Tsunade was able to make it back to Konoha to heal him, the golden hours for his treatment were long on. Even her mystical palm technique couldn't heal him and as such he passed as well. After that day Tsunade became a shell of her former self. She disappeared after the war for a few years and when she returned, she could only be described as a broken woman, and not the seasoned kunoichi she was thought to be. Soon after her return, she arrived here at the Senju Compound where she received a rather heated and stern lecture by me on her conduct. She soon started to become better, but something was still missing. That is when your aunt Shizune decided to become her apprentice. This made her happy and even her teammates were there for her. A few months after her return, she made a plea to the council so that she could organize a medic program that would teach at least one person on each Konoha squad how to use medical ninjutsu, but it was shot down by those idiots on the civilian council and elders, stating they are warriors not healers. This pissed her off a lot but she strengthened her resolve and so decided to make Shizune the best medic nin there was and to start a hospital that would consist of skilled doctors, which will help reduce casualties during war. And it worked. But the death toll in the next war was still high. She also was the one who took care of your father and aunt even after Dan Kato passed away. Which is why after he became Hokage, the first thing your father did was to allow Tsunade to start her medic corps. The council were not happy but your father reminded them why he was chosen as Hokage."

Naruto nodded in response then asked another question, "Also, wouldn't it be better to learn either my mother or father's fighting style? It is also much better than the academy one. Then I can switch to a style which fits me better in the future if I find one."

"Normally that is what children of various clans our taught, but you see there are multiple flaws with that course of action. Your mother's style, the Whirlpool Fist Style, while extremely dangerous since it focuses on overpowering the opponent with multiple hits fuelled by great power and speed, is still incomplete. The complete manuscript containing all the sequences and moves of that fighting style have been lost in the ruins of Uzushiogakure. So, unless you search the island you would always be using an incomplete style."

He paused for a while before continuing, "Your father's taijutsu style, The Hummingbird Stance, requires the body to move at extremely high speeds. The speeds required can only be achieved by conditioning your body through the extensive use of resistance seals, gravity seals and heavy weights. These will help you achieve agility and flexibility required for this style as it focuses on countering or decapacitating your opponent at a rapid pace. It will stunt your growth if you start learning it now. I can bet that your father will teach this to your brother or sisters only after they graduate the academy.

Naruto you should understand one thing. Even if something is better than the thing you have right now, it is not guaranteed that it will be helpful to you or suit your needs. If you practice a seasoned fighting style now, you would have trouble switching to the one that was meant for you later on. And you will be forced to watch yourself struggle simply because you were impatient. Also, you must remember this: on the battlefield one will never fear an opponent that has thousands of justu in their arsenal, people will fear an opponent who has mastery over that one jutsu that could turn the tide in their favour. Your father is a prime example of that. While he has an affinity to multiple elements, he is not too fond of ninjutsu because of the time consumed to go through hand seals. But he ended the Third Great War using only two jutsu and taijutsu: the Hiraishin and the Rasengan. He can use those two effortlessly and the world fears him because of that. Does that answer your questions?"

The redhead nodded in response and silently vowed to make his new sensei proud of him. The two of them then began walking towards the Senju Compound, where they could converse more on and getting to know each other. They found out they shared a common interest for books and not just justu books, but also books that could help them with their mind and assessing other people, like books on human psychology, body language, and anything else that could be of interest to them.

Soon the sun set and Tobirama decided he should check on his office for, in case he had forgotten something and making sure everything was in order. When he came back, he saw the red ball of energy fast asleep with his head on the coffee table. 'Must have gotten tired after talking so much. He is still a child after all,' the man thought. He swiftly got the child away from the coffee table and placed him on his back so he could carry him easily, without waking the boy up. He moved out of his house and walked into the streets under the vermillion hue of the sky and made his way towards the Uzmaki-Namikaze house, so he could give them their child and inform them that the young man would be spending time with him a lot since they had fun today and share common interest, so they shouldn't get worried if he is a little late from now on.

Uzumaki-Namikaze House

Kushina was pacing around the hallway. The conversation that occurred a few hours back was definitely not one her best moments in life. How could she look her son in the eye and say they were going to train his siblings, but were not going to train him? He would be heartbroken! Plus, the way Jiraiya was talking about her baby boy made her want to permanently separate the pervert from his 'tool'! She was happy to see that the Snake Sannin stood up for her son, even when as parents they did not. She would definitely make up to him when he joins the academy.

She was broken out of her thoughts when the Toad and Slug Sannin entered the dining room along with her husband, who was still in his Hokage outfit. Apparently, an Anbu team had returned from a particularly dangerous mission and they wanted to make their report and get treated as soon as possible, so he had to visit his office. She called for her kids and was surprised to see only the 3 jinchuriki come running down the stairs and into the dining room. When she asked where her other son was, she was faced with blank stares and question marks. That sent alarm bells off in her mind.

"Minato have you seen Naruto?" she asked her husband who was finalizing the training schedule for the children with the 2 Sannin.

"No, I haven't Kushi-chan. Why is he not here?" the blonde kage questioned. She was about to answer him, when the doorbell rang. Kushina ran up to the door to check if it's her son or not, but the sight that greeted her, shocked her to her core.

There, outside her door was the Nidaime Hokage, with his standard pokerfaced expression on his face, with her son sleeping comfortably on his back. Now that was something you don't see every day. She was too shocked to even see that the rest of the adults had gathered behind her as well and were left gaping like a fish.

The man in front of them just gave them an amused smirk as a response. Before they could question him about what the hell was going on, he stated, "I apologize for the intrusion. May I come in? It will be better for us to talk inside and could you put young Naruto to bed? He seems to have tired himself out."

This broke Kushina out of her astonishment and she took her baby in her arms and checked him to see if he was hurt or not. After confirming he was alright, she made her way to his room to put him down for the night. She went into his room and was surprised to see that the only thing decorating it were books and a poster of the Shodaime and Nidaime Hokage. 'I guess he considers those two as idols. It will be much more difficult to tell him that we will not train him alongside his siblings if he shares the dream of Hokage someday,' Kushina thought with a sad smile on her face. She tucked him in and then made her way towards the living room to discuss what happened.

When she got there, she saw all the Sannin, including Orochimaru who must have joined them while she was away, her husband and the Nidaime Hokage, who was sitting with his eyes closed, drinking some tea. When she made her way towards them, she saw him open his eyes and begin speaking. "You see, I decided to take walk in the park today and get out of the compound for a while. When I was making my way towards the lakeside of the park where not many people gather, I came across young Naruto who seemed to be sitting by himself on a swing (A.N- yes, it is THE SWING-KUN from the flashbacks and talk no jutsu scenes) and throwing stones in the river. I recognized him and decided to greet him. When I made my way towards him, he turned around and looked at me suspiciously. When I asked him how he knew I was there, he said he could sense me, which intrigued me. After talking about sensors for a while he realized I was the Nidaime Hokage and began questioning on me on certain events from my time as an active shinobi. After that we discussed what our common interests were and unsurprisingly both of us answered that we enjoyed books. So, I brought him to the compound to talk more over some snacks and we played chess for some time (A.N- I don't know anything about shogi so I'll use chess only), after I taught him how to play. When I returned from the kitchen after checking on something, I found him sleeping on the coffee table. So, I carried him here."

As the man finished his tale, many in the room were surprised. It is not every day that Tobirama Senju greets you. And the fact that he sounded pleased when talking about Naruto shows that the young redhead must have impressed him, which is an even bigger feat to achieve. Tsunade, Jiraiya and Minato were greatly shocked since they didn't know Naruto liked books or the fact that he was wise enough to hold a conversation with the smartest Hokage to have ever lived. Orochimaru just smirked since he knew that the kid was smarter than his siblings by a lot, these guys were just idiots to not see it. Kushina was a bit proud of her son but was surprised she didn't know that much about her son. The only things she knew about were his favourite foods and what kind of clothes he liked. This bothered her.

She extended an invitation to Tobirama for dinner and he graciously accepted. After dinner when everyone was leaving, Tobirama dropped another bomb. "Tell Naruto that if he wants to play chess with me anytime, the doors of the Senju Compound are open to him." This surprised them even more, but only Orochimaru thought something was wrong and decided to question the kid later, after he returns from his missions.

The others had no idea how the world was soon going to be taken by storm.

Training Year One (Almost 5-year-old Naruto)

The next day Naruto woke up and found his mother in the kitchen. While he was happy to see her, it was not like the usual feeling he got when he saw his mother. Maybe he still was angry at her since she did not stand up for him when the old pervert insulted him. He greeted her and sat down quickly for breakfast. Looks like he woke up early since his siblings were not up yet. His mother smiled at him and give him his breakfast. After he finished his meal, he was about to go up to his room to read a book or something when his mother said, "Naru-chan, Tobirama-sama told me to tell you that he enjoyed playing chess with you yesterday and if you wanted to play some more, he would be happy to indulge you."

This confused him a little. When did he play chess with the old man? Then it clicked him. 'Sensei must have not told them that he would be training me. I guess even he thought they might object to it and gave them a cover story. I guess I'll go see him in an hour.'

After an hour, he made his way towards the Senju Compound. He didn't know in which house of the Senju Compound did his new sensei live so he just decided to try and sense the old man out. He couldn't do much but managed to pick up a faint trail of chakra around one of the houses.

As he reached the door of said house, he was surprised to hear a voice behind him, "Well done. So, you managed to find my house using your sensing abilities huh. Good, that is one thing we will train on this year. Follow me."

When he turned around to look at the person behind, he was greeted with the face of his idol, dressed in an elegant blue battle kimono. He motioned for him to follow him inside his house. When they reached the living room, he was surprised to see a stack of books present there. Tobirama told him to sit and then began explaining what they will do this year. "Naruto if I am not wrong you are about to turn five in a month, right?" Naruto nodded at the question. "Okay, so you see Naruto, a child develops their chakra coils by age 6, which is why the age of entering the academy used to be 6 during our time. Your father decided to increase the age at which a child is admitted into the academy to 9, since he wanted the genin to be more prepared and not lose valuable shinobi who pass away on their first mission outside the village. I won't be training you in anything major till your 6 years old. But the training we will do for this year would also help you.

These books contain information on body language, human psychology, battle tactics and some other concepts that will help you read any human like an open book. Even though I am adept at fighting, my keen intellect gave me an edge above the others and allowed me to create strategies that no one could decipher or intercept at any time.

Even during negotiations with others, if you are able to back the person in front of you into a corner simply by analysing them, you might be able to get your share without even having to bargain. Plus, it improves your intellectual capacity. This accompanied with chess will allow you to build up your chakra and make it more potent."

"How does that happen?"

"You see Naruto, Chakra is made up of 2 aspects which make up your stamina. One your physical energy, which is the life energy collected from your body cells and can be improved and utilized through exercise and training your body fairly well. The other aspect is your spiritual energy which is derived from the mind's consciousness and can be increased by studying, meditation and experience gained overtime. We will work on your physical energy later on when your coils are fully developed. By then I expect you to become a master of the mind. You might choose any book to read first but read this one last."

The book he was talking about was titled 'Art of containing your Emotions'. He raised an eyebrow at this and looked towards Tobirama for an explanation. "If you don't showcase your emotions it will prevent people from using them against you. Plus, it helps you keep a cool head during different situations. How do you think I survive talking to the perverted sage?" Naruto laughed at his sensei's words, but nodded regardless. And so, began the training of the young Uzumaki.

A few months into their training the two were spotted by Orochimaru who came to bid farewell to the kid since he was going to learn sage mode by the snakes of Ryuuchi Cave. He explained how since they do not have the luxury of the toad oil, their progress will be slower and he will be gone for a couple of years. Naruto was saddened by this since the man was good to him and out of all the 3 Sannin he was the only one who regarded Naruto properly. Orochimaru was also informed by Tobirama about Naruto's situation which proved to be true and their parents only trained his siblings. Orochimaru was happy with the fact that Naruto will be in capable hands while he is gone and also gave him some scrolls on a few ninjutsu's that he thought he would like. He also gave him books on seals that he owned to get him started on the basic ones. Orochimaru left Konoha a few hours later and promised that he would return after a few years to check Naruto's progress and even train him a little himself.

As Naruto had predicted, his parents slowly began to drift away from him and began overlooking him. Even if it was minor things like calling him down for a meal, he knew what the end result was going to be like and so he prepared for the eventual fall out if their behaviour continued.

Due to his eidetic memory, he was able to go through book after book like a sea breeze. He finished all the books that Tobirama wanted him to read and began searching for books in the Konoha Public Library and his family library as well. His mental capacity was improving and his battle tactics had started to become more refined as well. At this point he was able to win 4 out of 10 chess games every time he played against Tobirama, something which surprised the old man greatly.

Training Year Two (Naruto is almost 6 years old)

It's been a week since the birthday of the Hokage's kids, and surprisingly only a few people remembered the fourth one, namely Tobirama, Orochimaru (who sent a summon with his gift), and Kushina Uzumaki his mother. Naruto's life at home had become even worse, with his parents rarely calling for him. They would only ask him a few times if he would like to have dinner with them and even left him alone at the house all by himself quite a few times, when they went out.

On the bright side, Tobirama began his physical training and allowed him to access his chakra for the first time. The sheer potency and concentration of the chakra had cracked the training ground in the Senju Compound and uprooted a few trees as well. This left Tobirama in awe of the child's power. He had not witnessed such potent chakra ever since the death of his brother. The amount of purple energy swirling around him reminded Tobirama of the only time his brother had been pissed off, when their younger brothers, Itama and Kawarama, had been killed during the war against the Uchiha which had sparked the hatred for the Uchiha in Tobirama. The entire Uchiha Clan had come to fear the older Senju brother that day, after witnessing how viciously he had slaughtered the murderers of his brothers.

Naruto had also advanced in fuinjutsu with the help of his sensei and notes from the Senju Library, left behind by Mito Uzumaki. He had progressed to level 5 in a year which left Tobirama shell-shocked. After witnessing his natural excellence in seals, Tobirama had Naruto making spare storage seals, explosive tags and weight seals as well. This also provided Naruto with a cash source, as he sold those with the help of Tobirama to the shinobi gear shops, since his parents had not bought him anything this year with the exception of the red hoodie that Kushina brought him as a gift. This money had allowed him to buy new calligraphy kits, scrolls, books, kunai sets, etc.

His sensing abilities had grown leaps and bounds as well. While not at the level of Tobirama where he could sense Shinobi in another country as well, he was able to sense people till the fire capital with ease, and could cover the entire country if he focused enough.

His training for this year included two aspects: physical training and chakra training. For his physical training Tobirama made him run around the Senju training ground for 30 minutes with weight seals on his legs, torso and arms. These were created specially by Mito Uzumaki to prevent from a child's growth to be stunted due to training. It also included a feature were in he could change the weight of the seal to what he saw fit, after consulting Tobirama whether he had permission to change it or not. Sets of a few basic exercises like push ups, pull ups, squats, lunges, planks, burpees, and a few more were also included, to get his body conditioned.

After accessing his chakra, Tobirama began teaching him about control and how it will help him in controlling the power of his jutsus. They started with basic chakra control exercises like tree walking, water walking, and leaf concentration exercises that Naruto mastered in a month, leaving Tobirama surprised once again. After that went on to the more complex ones like kunai balancing and waterfall walking. After he mastered those Tobirama saw fit to make him perform two different chakra control exercises simultaneously. He also started to teach him the 3 academy jutsu's (which he doesn't agree with, he wants the kids to learn more advanced stuff but can't do shit). Naruto was able to perform the henge and kawarimi no jutsu with ease but couldn't get down the bunshin. After his chakra control improved, he was able to make a few but Tobirama told him to continue till he is able to make at least 50 effortlessly as it will serve as a good chakra control exercise.

The end result of the year was extremely fruitful and Naruto couldn't wait for next year, to begin Ninjutsu training.

Training year 3 (Naruto is almost 7 years old)

Again, this year his parents have have only focused on the 'Saviours of Konoha' and not him. From what he was able to see they have only been practicing in controlling the Kyuubi's chakra and basic chakra control. It turns out that his sisters are able to form the Uzumaki Chakra Chains using the special Uzumaki chakra, which he later found he could do as well. He is able to mould into many different shapes like a lance or a shield, simply because he has better control. He and Tobirama had also begun working on ninjutsu after they found out his affinities. This revelation again brought joy to his sensei, though it feels as if he will die from a heart attack if the surprises continue. Apparently, he has an affinity towards all 4 of the basic elements except fire. When he used chakra paper, the paper split into 4 parts.

The first part got soaking wet within seconds and then disappeared, as rain drops fell on the ground.

The second part turned dusty, but when it fell on the ground there was huge crack on the surface, indicating another strong affinity.

The third part surprisingly, instead of the usual wrinkling of the paper which occurs when a person has an affinity to lightning, his piece of paper had black lightning circulating through the paper, as it caught fire. The lightning bolts also hit the ground, burning the grass on it.

The fourth part got cut into numerous pieces to the point even the trained, observant eyes of Tobirama had trouble counting them.

Tobirama was extremely happy since he could finally teach someone his moves, since only he has a similar affinity to water and a strong lightning affinity, but not as strong as Naruto's. From that day, he had Naruto work on elemental manipulation, after he taught him the Kage Bunshin no Justu. He also had Naruto copy a few jutsus from the Hokage's library and Uzumaki Library, which he liked and thought were beneficial. He copied all the jutsus he thought that suited his style and affinities, along with the rasengan. When asked by Tobirama why he didn't pick the Hiraishin, his answer was 'While it is a great technique and all, I have no intention of using markers since they can easily be removed and even one mistake while performing it could have serious consequences, like if I flashed next to an enemy and he was a sensor he would easily be able to sense me and might block the strike or kill me if I am careless while dodging. Space-time ninjutsu is extremely dangerous and I would stay away from it unless I can come with something safer.' Tobirama could sense the logic in his words. He never considered the possibility that he would be fighting against a sensor since they used to be extremely rare during his time. Regardless he began educating Naruto in Ninjutsu as well.

They also started working on the academy style and began learning it till perfection. It also served to surprise people that he was using such a simple stance against professional shinobi. His physical prowess had improved as well. Mentally he could give a challenge to Tobirama in chess to the point where they were drawing most of their chess games, with one of them occasionally winning a few.

He also made his first friend. One day, when Tobirama had decided to let him off easy after Naruto beat him in chess, he decided to go exploring the village and look for something to do. When he reached a lake at the end of the village, he saw a girl with jet black hair and red eyes. She looked like she was performing the fireball jutsu but couldn't create that big of a fireball. So, he decided to approach her and see what she was doing. After talking to her, he found out her name was Kaguya Uchiha, the daughter of the clan head Fugaku Uchiha and twin sister of the duck-butt Sasgay. It seems she has the same problem as him, that the people of her clan and her father keep comparing her to her brothers since apparently, both of them could perform the fireball at her age. It also seems like her eyes changed colour from the usual black to a dark red shade due some mutation. That is why her father is unsure if she would have the Sharingan since the mutation has directly affected the genes of her eyes and there might be a chance where she wouldn't be able to activate her clan's famous dojutsu.

Naruto found her to be pretty similar to himself and told her about himself as well. He also gave her a new confidence to not give up and keep trying. If she was able to achieve everything that her brother Itachi and Sasuke couldn't, she will be able to prove herself. This made Kaguya extremely happy that someone beside her mom and Itachi nii-san had faith in her. He also showed her a few chakra control exercises to help her in improving her chakra flow and help her learn jutsus. This brought her to tears. They also made a promise to achieve their dreams and support each other throughout their journey. They also met each other every alternate day at the same spot to just talk and spend time with each other. It was a start of a beautiful relationship.

He also had a talk with Tobirama about this the other day.

Flashback

The teacher-student duo was playing chess again and were deeply engrossed into the game when Naruto said, "I met this girl yesterday. An Uchiha." He moved his pieces and watched as Tobirama quirked an eyebrow at his statement. It was no secret that Tobirama Senju hated the Uchiha's with a passion. But nobody ever found the reason for his hatred. It couldn't be just Clan Wars, since both sides killed the people of the opposing clan, so what actually happened.

"And you are telling me about this because?" asked the man, as he moved his knight across the board.

"Because I want to know what happened between the Senju and the Uchiha and the truth about the night of the Kyuubi. I read about the general statements from the shinobi and public alike that Hokage-sama (he refused to call them mom and dad) had recorded in his library and somethings don't make sense."

Tobirama closed his eyes and gave a sigh before explaining, "During the time I was still a child and the village had not yet formed, clans used to rule over the territory in the village. One day, due to a feud related to the territory controlled by the village, the Senju and Uchiha got into an argument. This escalated to the point where a fight broke between the two. This led to a massacre for both the sides as many were killed. This time came to be known as the Clan War period. When my brothers and I were little and our father decided that we should fight as well, we all began training and becoming much better in the shinobi arts. However, no matter how good all of us were, my younger brothers Itama and Kawarama, were still murdered on their second day on the battlefield. The reason for my hate towards the Uchiha is because when they killed my brothers, they laughed while doing so and continued disfiguring their bodies even after their death. This sparked my hatred towards them. It is also the only time my brother, Hashirama, killed someone in cold blood with absolute ruthlessness and enjoyed it. Even I have killed many Uchiha but I never took pleasure in it. That was the difference between us and them and that is why I detest them. The night the Kyuubi attacked, your mother was in labour. When you and your siblings were born, a masked man came in and threatened to kill you if Minato did not step away from your mother who was the previous jinchuriki of the Kyuubi, the one chosen by Mito-nee to hold the Kyuubi after her. After throwing you away in the air, he escaped with Kushina while your father was saving you and your siblings. He then summoned the Kyuubi and attacked the village. You know the rest of the story."

After hearing this, Naruto only hummed as he played against his sensei. Then he made a request to Tobirama that nobody else would. "You and I both know I'll probably leave the village for a few years to travel and find somethings to help me grow. When that happens, I want you to look after Kaguya and help her if she asks you. She holds you in high regard and admires the you a lot as a shinobi. I want you to give her a chance, even if she is an Uchiha. Checkmate."

Tobirama looked at his student with a stoic expression on his face, and could see a similar face staring back. While he was proud that Naruto had managed to completely mask his emotions, it frustrated him that he could not read his student's emotions. "Fine I'll will do it. If you believe in her ability and her personality then I am willing to accept your request. If she comes to me for help, I will aid her in whatever she needs."

Naruto let out a small smile at that and thanked his sensei, before making his way out.

Present Time

While all this happened, the highlight of the year was Tobirama's offer to him.

Flashback

It was Naruto's birthday, and it seems like his parents forgot about it, since they have only been fussing over the brats. His siblings had become even worse now since they received special treatment from the Hokage and Lady Namikaze and call him a loser every time they walk into each other. He is positive that beside the Namikaze's, the Sannin, Kaguya and Tobirama, nobody knows he exists. So, without feeling any grief towards it, he made his way to the Senju Compound for today's training. When he made it onto the ground, he was surprised to see Tobirama's note, calling him to the house. So, he made his way towards the place.

When he entered the living room, he was greeted by Tobirama and told to sit on the cushion in front of Tobirama. When he sat down and questioned as to what was goin on Tobirama decided to drop a bomb. "Firstly, Happy Birthday Naruto. As a gift I have decided to give you a few scrolls on some water and lightning jutsu's I have personally created. But that is not why I called you here."

He paused for a while before saying, "Naruto I am not happy with the way your parents are treating you. I also know that day forgot about your birthday since I saw Tsunade pick up 3 gifts and not 4. Which is why I wanted to make an offer to you. If you feel like you are done with the injustice of your parents and siblings, I would like to blood adopt you as my heir and become Naruto Senju. Will that be okay with you?"

This made Naruto's eyes widen with shock, before they settled back and his expression became unreadable once again. He thought about this offer and it actually made sense. Over the years, he has come to see his sensei as a grandfather figure in his life that will guide him to the best of his ability. His parents on the other hand, have simply been a disappointment. While he does not hate, he does feel hurt by their actions. Even when he asked his parents if he could train with them, they looked away and said later. He is master when it comes to reading people, so he knows they are lying and he won't be hoping to make up with them anytime soon. If they want to live in their fairy tale world by kicking him out, he is fine with that. He has a new family now.

"I… I accept. But I want to keep my Uzumaki name if that is alright with you. My ancestors were warriors who sacrificed their life to prevent other countries from damaging their soil, even if they were outnumbered and knew they were going to perish. I am proud to be their descendent and would like to honour their sacrifice by remaining an Uzumaki in name at least."

This made Tobirama give his student a genuine smile. He was proud of the way Naruto thinks and works, and even happier that he has him as a student and now an heir if anything happens to him. He was proud to call the child his surrogate grandson. He was the only one who could head the Senju Clan and take them to great heights and make the village of Konoha as great as it was during his reign as Hokage.

Present time- Training Year Four (Naruto is almost 8 now)

It's been a year since Tobirama made his offer. From then on Naruto has been learning everything about politics as well. He has progressed to Level 9 in fuinjutsu and is about to start level 10, which will make him just as good as his 'parents' when it comes to sealing. He has also been thinking about making a visit to Uzushio and try to unlock the seal placed on the island. This will give him a chance to witness the hometown of his ancestors and even provide him with jutsu scrolls, books to read and weapons that will aid him.

This past year he has only been refining the jutsus he has learnt. He has progressed to the point where he can replicate the Yondaime Raikage's speed by using his version of Raiton no Yoroi (Lightning Armour), the only difference is his body is covered in black lightning; with wind, he can coat himself using wind chakra, allowing him to fly; with earth, he can use earth chakra to make his body sturdier, which increases the impact caused by his attacks; and lastly, he can create water from thin air using the moisture present in the atmosphere. He can also perform most of his jutsu's using only 3 hand seals or less.

His physical prowess has improved to the point where he has body similar to that of a seasoned fighter. His height is also pretty tall for his age. His chakra reserves have grown to the point where they could rival Shukaku, the one tailed beast. This also meant that he had to learn how to control his chakra as well. This proved to be quite an obstacle for him but he managed to do it nonetheless.

Naruto and Kaguya had been growing closer to one another. Kaguya respected him after she learned about his past and was ecstatic when she found out Tobirama Senju, her idol, had agreed to help her with any problems she might face if she asked him. She kissed Naruto on the cheek for this and bear hugged him. This led to both of them blushing and not looking at each other for a few minutes. She had also progressed in the shinobi arts. She had gotten the fireball technique down and improved her control to extremely high levels. After they checked her affinity, they were shocked to find she had 3 different ones in fire, wind and earth. This meant she could learn the fabled dust release practiced by the Sandaime Tsuchikage of Iwa. This accompanied with her Sharingan (if she ever awakens) will make her a formidable kunoichi. He told her to keep it a secret since if someone (Danzo) who wants to take advantage of her found out, she would be turned into a weapon, an emotionless idiot who only follows orders. She didn't want that to happen so agreed to it but decided to tell her mother, since they both knew she would not say a word to anyone.

Orochimaru was said to return in the following week as well, according to a letter he wrote so Naruto was happy, since he will meet a person he respects and admires after almost 3-4 years.

Everything was well until today.

Today (Naruto's Birthday)

At the Uzumaki-Namikaze residence a grand party was being held for the 'Saviours of Konoha' just like the previous year, only difference was that this time both shinobi and civilians alike had made an appearance. Everyone was congratulating the family for the deed their children have done and well-wishing them for their birthday. The 3 brats were showered with countless gifts. But the highlight of the event were the gifts from 2 of the Sannin. Jiraiya presented Menma and Natsumi with the Toad Contract which left people shocked since they knew how powerful that contract was. Tsunade offered Mito the Slug Contract which again left the people wide eyed since they knew that contract was only meant for people whom the Slug Princess chooses as an apprentice. This again left the people shaking with envy. But the next thing Hokage and his wife said, unknowingly changed the fate of their family.

"Everyone, we would like to make an announcement," Minato began, holding Kushina's hand as they both smiled at the people present. "we have decided that Natsumi will be the clan heir for the Namikaze Clan while Mito will be the clan heir for the Uzumaki Clan. I'll personally be training Menma so that when the time comes for me to retire, he will be there to take the hat from me and lead the village."

At this the entire crowd went wild. All the clan heads, their heirs and civilians were happy for them, except Mikoto and Kaguya. They both knew what happens when the clan heir is removed without the valid reason and in case of multiple clans, the 2nd eldest is the heir for one of the clans. They knew who the eldest of the triplets was and looked for him to see his face. The sight they were greeted by, left their hearts broken and tears began forming in Kaguya's eyes.

The redhead in question looked on with a little bit of hurt in his eyes. His usually stoic expression shattered, only to be replaced by an emotionless mask. He saw his former parents hug his siblings and could only stare at them from afar.

Without wasting any time, he left from one of the windows in the kitchen. He needed to clear his mind and only Tobirama could help him do it.

Senju Compound

It was pretty late in the night and Tobirama was preparing to head for bed since he asked Naruto to start Level 10 and he wanted to monitor his progress. When he was about to switch the light off for the night, the doorbell rang. He was surprised that someone wanted to come here this late, but he had a hunch that whatever it was, it was not good. And he was proven right when an emotionless Naruto stood before him with his hair shadowing his eyes.

Naruto came in and told Tobirama exactly what happened a few moments before. Even he was shocked that Minato and Kushina could be that senseless. But Naruto's next statement surprised him even more, but he was wearing a shit eating grin in his mind.

"Do it. Blood adopt me. I am not a Namikaze anymore, only an Uzumaki but that is also only in name. Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze is now dead, let the world know the power of Naruto Uzumaki-Senju."

When the redhead said his eyes were burning with a new fire that made Tobirama smirk. He got up and guided Naruto to the basement below Tobirama's house.

When they reached down there, Naruto was surprised to see a hospital bed down there with multiple freezers, refrigerators, bookshelves and a table there. It looked like someone had walked into a doctor's clinic. The only source of light down there were multiple lanterns that were lined up on the wall.

Tobirama motioned Naruto to go and lie down on the bed and to take off his shirt, while he began rummaging through the freezer, looking for something. After a few moments he came out holding a small vial containing a blue serum in it. When Naruto quirked his eyebrows at him, he began explaining, "During the Clan Wars many of our clansmen lost their lives. Hence, to increase the numbers of our clan and also to help Senju women who wanted to adopt kids since they were infertile or an accident had occurred damaging them, but they still wanted a child; my mother Aika Senju, developed this serum. When the blood of a pure-blooded Senju is added to it, and if it is injected directly into a person's heart, it helps change their DNA to that of at least a half Senju. In your case, you already have latent Senju Genes due to you being a descendent of the Royal Family of the Uzumaki Clan, hence it will help make those genes more dominant. Any questions?"

"Yes, why is there no mention of your mother anywhere in the Konoha records? If she developed this serum surely, she must be an exceptional scientist and possibly a great medic nin."

"My mother was one of the greatest med nins of all time since she was armed with the Senju bloodline. The reason why nonbody knows about her is because she never joined the frontlines, she just wanted to help others," Tobirama replied as he began taking some serum into a syringe. "the reason why people don't know her is also because if her research comes to light, other secrets such as our bloodline, which you are going to get."

Naruto only nodded before he caught on to the last part, "Wait wha-" was all he could say before Tobirama stabbed him with the syringe right in the centre of his chest and he blacked out.

And now when he will awaken, the story of Naruto Uzumaki-Senju will begin.

Damn that's a long chapter. Next time Naruto's devil fruit power and a few other secrets will be revealed.

I will most likely add Temari and Samui to the mix. I am also thinking about adding a few bleach girls in the mix and I have an idea how to. I'll also most likely add a girl from his summons. Should I make Naruto the head of the Uzumaki Clan as well or only the Senju?
