Chapter 3: The Walled Kingdom

ME 1028/ Year 818

75 years ago. Humanity was brought to the brink of extinction by unknown enemies known as "Titans". These humanoid giants wrought destruction and sought to devour any living humans they come across. Fortunately, the remains of humanity constructed three solid fifty-meter walls to protect what remains of the survivors that no Titans would ever bypass into the territory.

These three walls were named:

Maria

Rose

Sheena

These three walls held off the Titans for the past 75 years, and humanity lived in relative peace within these walls until... their arrival changed the lives of the walled people.

...

Reiss Estate, Year 816... 2 years ago...

"We're home!"

In the middle of a noble estate, Uri entered the wooden cottage along with his brother named Rod. After their tours to visit Trost District, they went back to their summer estate between Wall Maria and Rose, but upon their return; the young brothers didn't expect to realize to see many servants were frantically searching for someone. This situation made the brothers curious and confused until Uri then speaks up a question to the handmaid.

"Miss Eileen, just what happened here?"

The servant stopped and turned her attention to the Heirs of the Reiss Family. "Oh, it's you two. Look, we've been searching for your father since he left the house and never came back."

"Never came back?" Rod raised his eyebrow in confusion. "Since when did he go out for a walk?"

"That was six hours ago, and he said he'll be back at two," Eileen replied with a worrying sigh. "Now two hours have passed, and he hadn't returned. We've searched for him and it seems like his traces had vanished."

"V-Vanished...?" Uri gawked in disbelief. "It's probably a bandit attack."

"We've sent his henchmen to look out for him," Eileen replied while tilting her head sidewards before producing a golden watch from her pocket. "Only what they find is this..."

"Th-That's-!" Rod then widened his eyes. "That's father's pocket watch!"

Thus then, the entrance of the Reiss Estate banged open before a couple of men entered with their exhausted state. Breathing heavily for air.

"Miss Eileen... Mr. Reiss is nowhere to be found!" The henchman breathes out. "There are even no signs of bandit attacks and he's gone missing!"

After hearing the news, Rod and Uri widened their eyes with their terrified looks while Eileen gasped in shock.

"My god... this is not good..."

Wall Maria, Eastern District of Holst. Year 818 (Present Day.)

...

*CLANG!* *CLANG!* *CLANG!*

The liberty bell rang throughout the entire district, catching the attention of the civilians living behind the walls. Once the stone gates rolled open, the people expected that the Survey Corps had gotten fewer since they left the walls for almost a month. When the first scouts entered, the people widened their eyes in disbelief when they saw foreign people numbering in hundreds poured through the gates. The refugees looked around at the people of Wall Maria with nervous looks and curiosity, but at least they felt a sensation of safety once they get past through the walls while nearby Titans outside were lured away by the scouts to prevent any further attacks.

Merse steered the horses and the beasts of burden dragged the wagon to its way to the gates while Sasha, Elt, and Wilmarina, along with Eristia, Yuriy, and the rest of the orphans gawked while looking up at the sight of the 50-meter walls, stretching from far and wide. Once they get past through the gates, they were met with the bewildered faces of the walled people of Holst District.

"Hey, from where did these people come from?"

"I don't know, I thought humanity outside the walls has gone extinct."

"Look at that! Is that a woman with a body of a horse!?"

"Look, mommy! There's a girl with rabbit ears!"

"Now this is strange, these types of people with animal features exist?"

"I dunno, I've read nothing about them in our history books."

The young 15-year-old Sasha stared at the frightened folks of Holst District. She turned her gaze around to the other side of the side road and the people still shared their same look. Most were surprised by their arrival, and some had expressions of awe and astonishment. The last time she communicated with a Scout named Ash through simple finger gestures. These people had seen no one who came from beyond the walls as if the world outside they knew has been overrun by these giants known as Titans for a very long time.

Wilmarina and Elt, on the other hand, still stared at Ash, who rode on his horse beside their wagon. The two children took their inspective views of his 3D Maneuver Gear and wondered themselves to know how they worked.

"These guys can fly with those things on their hips," Elt stated curiously. "But I wonder how they work to make them fly?"

"Not actually flying, but from what it looks like that it can shoot metal ropes," Wilmarina corrected, explaining how the strange contraptions work. "It's like they were pulled by the ropes and were flung away like a slingshot."

"Wow, then they must be really fast on how to use it!" Elts then expressed his brightened joy in his eyes. "Mary, why don't we join them and fight these Giants- er, I mean Titans!"

Wilmarina then saw the determination in the boys' eyes that he is willing to join the military of the walled kingdom. But sadly, in the opposite contrast to Elt, Wilmarina sighed in disappointment and doubt.

"Elt, we can't join their military if we don't know how to speak their language!" Wilmarina spoke up sternly while crossing her arms. "Well, at least that soldier nearby told us we were given refuge and gave us some education to teach us in their language lessons."

"Well, we aren't running away from these giants anymore, right Eristia?" Yuriy speaks up before turning to the orange-haired orphan girl, she nodded. "But I think that joining them will be awesome! I mean, look at them! They just brought down the Giants with ease! If we join them, then we can reclaim our homes!"

Wilmarina felt her left ear perked up and raised her eyebrows in surprise at Yuriy. "Wait, you can't just-"

"At least he had a good point." Wilmarina then heard Alameria interjected in their conversation. The young dhampir smiled at Yuriy with an expression filled with optimism. "If we know how to fight them, then we can't fear those giants any longer!"

"Ugh..." Wilmarina couldn't help but let out a defeated sigh. "You guys... At least Paula wouldn't-"

"I will join too~!" Paula interjected as she agreed while raising her hand. "Maybe joining up as a soldier isn't that bad. Then one day, we might be heroes!"

"Not you too..." Wilmarina felt her skin turning pale as if they were ignoring her plea. She knew how fighting Titans were dangerous after seeing the scouts struggled to fight them while on their way to the walls. Then she slowly looked up to Merse. "Are you-"

"I'm joining too," Merse answered straightly before giving off a mocking smile until she turned to Sasha. "But what about you?"

"Well, I'll decide to stay behind the walls," Sasha replied while looking down. "Sorry, I can't join you guys. Lisia and Emiyu needed someone to take care of them, and it is my responsibility to look after them."

The three-year-old Emiyu heard the young one-year-old Lisia cried as she woke up from her sleep before Eristia tucked the young toddler and soothed her back to sleep.

"Their parents promised shortly before they died," Sasha stated, giving off an aura of her self-motivation. "So I kept their words."

...

Wall Sina, Capital City of Mitras. Government Senate.

Three days after their arrival, the news of the five thousand refugees spreads throughout the walled kingdom like wildfire. Humans from the outside world were given refuge behind Wall Maria and settled their new homes between Shiganshina, Karanesse, and Holst District, but the outside humans are not the only ones that entered the Walls. Mysterious races of Beastkin and a handful of Demons were also among them as well and were split from the outside humans before settling into a much more remote area near the district of Utopia.

"The establishment of these new towns doesn't seem to affect our constant food supply." A noble said towards his colleague in the middle of their meeting room. "But these refugees needed to work on the fields to grow their own food."

"Not an awful choice." Another noble smiled while spinning his glass of wine. "As long as they work, we the remains of humanity won't starve out."

"But what do you think about these Beast humans in our Walled Land?"

"According to the Scouts, they comprise a variety of species, and they only exist as females. Yet they were said to be harmless unless provoked." A Noble at the other side of the table replied. "However, from what they tell us about these beastly outsiders were starting to *ahem* seeking human males as their mates."

"Huh... now this is even more strange." Another noble wondered curiously. "We've never heard about them in our history books and we probably forgot about them ever since we were locked in this caged kingdom of ours."

While the nobles and governors talked amongst each other in their meeting room, a hidden cabinet nearby was slightly open and a couple of agents from the Interior Government watched over the meeting with an observing glare.

"So these people aren't Marleyans or some other people from the outside world." The agent remarked with curiosity. "They even mention about these "beastkins" were among these refugees, which is strange to hear."

"Damnit, these outsiders would put our lives inside these Walls in danger." The other agent uttered with uneasiness while writing a note on his pad. "While the King is missing along with the powers of the Founding Titan, we can't take over this control on our hands. We'd better make sure not a single outsider would know about the ideals of the first king."

...

...

"New Lescatie? Is that the name of the new town?"

"Yeah, now they're working on the crops right now. At least they can grow their own food and there's a clear water source nearby."

Ash and Deren sat on their horses while watching over the construction of the new settlement made by outsiders, along with the volunteers coming from other districts. They rode into the settlement to pay for a visit and investigate the current situation before they were met with overly friendly greetings in different languages by the refugees as if they saw the two Scouts as Heroes. Eventually, they were the first scouts they had encountered who slain the giants from a couple of weeks prior and led them to the Walls.

"Ash! Ash! Hey Ash!" Ash heard a voice and turned around. He saw a girl with a green flow of hair running towards him as she greets him. "It's nice to meet you again!"

The Scout felt surprised to hear how fluid she speaks. Ash knew they had been in the Walled Kingdom for a couple of weeks and most refugees he saw had struggled their grasp to learn their language course and it would take for a long time until they could master it.

"Well, looks like you've gotten better," Ash replied with a smile. "So, are the others are doing well?"

Sasha responded with a nod, Ash felt relief that she's one of the special people among the refugees who could grasp their language at a fast rate. He could say that she's a prodigy with an excellent memory to memorize the words. While Sasha is happily conversing with the Scout; Elt and Wilmarina stood at the entrance of their newly established cottage.

"Look! It's Ash and Deren from Survey Corps, the Wings of Freedom." Elt breathes out as he saw the emblem on their green capes. He clenches his hand out of excitement. "Mary. I will join the military to become a Scout."

"I... will join too, Elt." The boy then felt his mind went out from his stupor before turning to Wilmarina, which she had an embarrassed look on her face.

"E-EEEHHH!?" Elt gawked in disbelief. "You're joining too!?"

"I-It's all thanks to you! It's your fault that you brought me to this!" Wilmarina raised her voice as her cheeks flushed bright red.

"Ehehehe~ Looks I'm not just the only dense idiot in which you're accusing me," Elt said sheepishly before Wilmarina makes a hard slap on top of his head, resulting in a painful bump. "Ow! What was that for!?"

"I-Idiot!" The young girl yelled in frustration before shyly walked away. "You'd better not regret this decision you made for us!"

...

75th Trainee Corps, Northern Division Training Facility... 6 months later...

...

In the middle of the square formation, the trainees stood firmly upright until a boot stepped in. A man in his late 30s and observed the new recruits with an intense glare which gave the trainees some mild discomfort.

"Welcome to the Training Corps, you sons of pigs! I, Hugh Walter, from now on will be your commandant!" The Cadets stood still with their mildly anxious faces while their mean-looking drill instructor who yells up to them with fury in his tone. "You won't be living your lives as worthless livestock behind these walls anymore! In these three years, I will train all of you into hell and make yourselves worthy to become the most poisonous livestock to fight Titans! IS THAT UNDERSTOOD!?"

'This differs from the Hero training I remembered.' Wilmarina noted mentally with a tensed look on her face. 'When I was first introduced inside an Order Church by my father, my teachers wouldn't say these words to me and wanted me to praise the Chief God. If they were to act like him; I would have shit my pants back then.'

Among the sea of cadets, Alameria felt her hands tremble after hearing the words from their instructor while Paula stood with a gulp through her throat. Yuriy and Eristia felt their sweat beads roll down their cheeks and knew that entering training for their new military careers is no easy feat while on their left side stood Elt and Wilmarina, both of them held their determined faces until their instructor finishes his introduction.

"Either will you all become worthless pigs, or will you become the glorious Swords of Humanity?"

Chapter 3: Ends

Author's Notes: So, to answer anyone's questions; this story takes place in an alien world and years before the Main start of the series, unless if you pay attention that the Year is 818. The Attack on Titan story starts in the year 845 where the Colossal Titan appeared at Shiganshina, but this story will diverge from the main timeline and yes, Marley will take its appearance but only as a minor fraction which got ISOTed along with Paradis island and that island is now connected with some land bridge to an unknown continent from the previous chapter, meaning it's now a Peninsula.

As for the mamono's; they will be sexually aggressive to sexually frustrated and because of that; they will randomly give birth to human offsprings, no matter whether it is male or female if they had sex with any Eldian males with no protection. The Eldian blood will also affect their mamono offsprings as well, and they will be born with human mindsets and rationale without the sexual and beastly instincts of monsters. But their natural abilities remain.
