R&R longer note at the end

Jessie woke early rubbing her eyes as they began to focus looking around she saw her roommate Elena was still asleep, sliding out of bed she quietly got changed grabbing her phone heading out of the room. It had been two weeks since she left Tifa and the others behind, she still hated herself for doing it the way she had walking through the halls she checked her phone really wanting to call Tifa or at least send her a message to let her know she was still alive.

Stepping out into the cool air she slid her phone back into her pocket sighing, she knew the rules knowing if she had tried to contact anyone the deal would be off and the others would be at risk again. She had planned on staying at least a week before dropping out but then she remembered the first day she met Elena and their rivalry had begun.

Each training session was dedicated to out doing each other more than the others, so far Jessie was ahead of Elena in terms of gun training and hand to hand thanks to her friends and girlfriend always helping her practise. Her Work with Avalanche had helped her greatly as well with the field training they had been assigned. Her only falling point came with the paperwork and exams, not wanting to be outdone however she had taken to waking early to disappear and study.

Today was no different as she entered the recruits study hall heading to the table right at the back out of sight of the others, she pulled out her latest test paper and began reading through it trying to work out where her mistakes had been.

Running through the halls Jessie dived behind a wooden crate as the paint balls slammed into it, today it was a team challenge the top recruits would be taking on the lower ranked recruits. Jessie peaked her head over the box ducking very quickly seeing two people advancing on her position as she moved quickly through a nearby door closing it quietly waiting and listening.

Hearing footsteps just outside she held her breath waiting for them to pass as she smirked letting it out slowly as she carefully opened the door peeking through seeing both her pursuers walk past, she waited a few moments before slipping out taking aim popping them both in the back. As she fired her second shot she felt a sharp stinging pain in her back throwing her forward a little, she turned holding up her paint ball gun indicating she was out spotting the smug smile of her blonde haired rival.

"Got you" She said walking past. Jessie bit back a retort realising that she was just out to get a rise out of her as she headed to the waiting room with the rest of her team who were wiped out. She sat down removing her helmet resting her head in her hands, how could she have fallen for such a simple trick Biggs would be laughing at her if he found out.

"Seems you have a little time" A familiar voice sounded as she looked up reluctantly seeing Reno smiling at her "We need to talk, follow me". Jessie sighed standing up following him to the hallway outside before leaning against a wall arms folded glaring at him.

"Well? What do you want this time?" She asked clearly annoyed.

"I just thought I'd come and congratulate you on staying this long" the red head replied smiling his obnoxious smile "Since someone said they were planning on leaving after the first week". She glared in response turning her head to the side trying to pick her next words carefully, after a few moments she spoke up.

"I found a reason to stick it out" She said slowly "Now did you come here just to torment me or what?"

"Make up your marks and I'll have a little bit of a present for you next week" waving his hand slowly he walked off as Jessie watched him go. Just another of his little games to keep her in check, sighing she headed back in thinking to herself. What did he mean, present?

Just a little insight to Jessie's current predicament, her training seems to be going well but I wonder, what's this present Reno promised? Well seems like you'll have to keep reading to find out more. See you all in the next chapter
