This may sound surprising, but despite the fact I read and follow the MHA manga, even reading its prequel spin-off MHA Vigilantes and having watch both movies, I don't watch the weekly anime... For some reason, I can't bring myself to be interested in watching the anime, and it's not because I'm not a fan of watching weekly anime, because I follow every season's weekly anime that I want to watch all the time and also watch adaptations of manga I really enjoy.
But even though I do like the MHA series and read the new chapters each week, I don't watch its anime for reasons I still don't know why, despite the fact the quality is very good and the studios are showing great care for it...
Anyway, I want to ask those who are familiar with the anime... Of all the opening themes up to this season, which one do you think fits best for playing during climactic battle sequences? I'm thinking of having it play during the final showdown of this story, whatever it may be, so I would love to hear suggestions from you folks. Please let me know! Thanks!
And for those who are wondering, the Godzilla-like hero from the first movie, Godzillo, won't be showing up in this story.
Chapter 3
Dangers of Skull Island
Packard and his group were traveling together through a marsh. The soldiers had their guns ready, while the students were making sure that no harm came to anyone and were therefore ready to fight.
Seeing a peculiar tree up ahead, Packard stopped everyone to observe it, taking a better look using the targeting scope of his sniper rifle. With it, he was able to see that the tree was covered with strange-looking bird-like creatures with pointy noses and no feathers, but instead dark gray skin.
Taking aim at a random "bird," he shot it, causing an explosion of blue blood, and then the other birds on the tree took off into the air in various directions in shock. "That's one ugly ass bird!" he commented, looking up from the sniper scope.
"Was that necessary...?" asked Mina, not approving the random killing of animals.
"To be fair, I'd freak out and try get rid of an ugly bird if I see one too..." said Hanta.
They were going to continue on their way when they noticed something. It was a giant hand print made of blood on the side of a towering rock. Recognizing it, Packard said with a smile, "Look at that! So that monster does bleed! We did that!"
The others all recognized the hand print as belonging to the giant gorilla, who had been wounded by the helicopter gunshots.
"This better not mean that gorilla is close by... I'm not sure if I'm ready to run into it again at the moment..." said a fearful Minoru.
"I'm ready to take on it this time!" said Eijiro with confidence while punching his palm.
"I think it's better that we reunite with the rest of our class first before thinking about fighting that gorilla... Dealing with something the size of that... I think I'd lose to confidence too..." said a somewhat fearful Momo.
Chapman and Team A came upon a large river. Feeling tired and even thirsty, they decided to settle down to take a break. It was also close to the place Packard told them to wait at as well. Everyone stood close to the river bank to enjoy themselves in the shallow water.
The students were talking about catching fish to get something to eat when suddenly they heard loud splashing and even felt the earth shaking a bit. It was only a few seconds later when the same giant gorilla appeared from behind a towering rock, shocking them all. The students and Chapman wasted no time in backing away from the river to hide behind a rock.
"It's that giant gorilla...!" said Mezo in shock.
"What do we do?! What do we do?!" asked a nervous Yuga.
Though he couldn't speak their language, Chapman motioned for them to stay still using his hands and not do anything reckless. They carefully peeked out from behind the rock to watch the gorilla as he sat down on the river, which was shallow for him due to his size.
The gorilla took a handful of water using his hand to take a drink, and then he observed the injuries on his body, likely the ones received from the helicopters.
All of a suddenly, giant octopus tentacles came out of the water and wrapped around the gorilla. The gorilla was startled and roared in anger as he began fighting against a giant octopus that appeared in the vicinity. The humans remained in their hiding place, watching the fight between the two creatures in shock and awe.
The struggle between the gorilla and the octopus wasn't long. Though it seemed like the octopus was going to pull the gorilla underwater with ease, the latter ultimately prevailed using his massive strength by not only tearing off some of the mollusk's tentacles, but also crushing his head underfoot using his giant feet. Black ink-like liquid splattered all over the place as a result, and then the gorilla took a bite out of one of the now motionless tentacles before walking away, dragging along the octopus's carcass.
The humans were at a loss of words at what they just saw. "That was terrifying, but also awesome...!" commented Rikido.
Elsewhere in the jungle, Izuku and his group were still traveling together. After what seemed like hours of walking through the place, they came across some torn down stone walls that look artificial, which grabbed their attentions. "These stone walls..." commented Izuku. "They can't be natural..."
"Looks like they were built by human hands..." observed Aizawa.
"Which would mean people live here..." said Shoto.
Weaver looked around using her camera, and after a second or so of focusing on a particular stone wall, she was spooked when a pair of eyes appeared on it. People armed with spears and painted from head to toe in colors same as the stone walls then stepped towards them, having camouflaging themselves the whole time.
The students and Aizawa immediately got into fighting stances and stood around the Westerners, getting ready to defend them. "Island natives...!" said Tenya in surprise.
"Hah! They'll regret it pointing those spears at us!" said Katsuki, sounding enthusiastic to start a fight.
"Don't do anything unless I say so! We don't want to get into unnecessary skirmishes with these natives!" Aizawa told him.
"Whoa! Wait a second!" shouted someone in English all of a sudden. Everyone turned and saw a fat American with a large, bushy beard rushing into the place and standing among the natives as if he was one of them. His attire was that of military clothing, albeit old and dirty Looking at the natives around himself, he told them to lower their weapons.
The appearance of such a kind of person surprised the students and the researchers. The fat guy then looked at them with a cheerful face and said, "Can you believe it? For 29 years, I've attempted several times to get off this island and back to civilization, and what do you know? Civilization ended up coming to me instead!"
"You're not a native to this place?" asked Conrad in surprise.
The man simply laughed and then said, "I thought my outfit would be a dead ringer! I'm Hank Marlow, from the 7th Division of the U.S. Air Force. Got shot down during flight and got stranded here all this time!"
"29 years on this island... I can't believe it!" said Izuku in awe.
"I'm sure you have a lot of questions, so come on in!" Marlow told them.
"There... There are lots of danger out there!" Nieves told him fearfully while pointing at the trees.
"Oh, there are a lot of things out there. Trust me; you don't want to be outside when night falls!" Marlow told him.
Team N had exited the jungle and found themselves in front of a medium-sized river. They decided to take a break at the location before moving on, but the students also made sure to keep an eye on potential dangers nearby.
Koji took this opportunity to use his Quirk to communicate with the birds and small animals that were nearby to learn more about the island. Seeing this, San asked Ochako, "Is he talking to animals?"
"Yeah, that's his Quirk. It allows him to communicate with animals. I'm sure he's trying to gather information on this island from them," replied Ochako.
When Koji was done, he turned to the others and was going to share with him what he learned when suddenly they heard the sound of stomping, which shocked them. "Something big is coming!" said Shoto, getting ready to fight.
Everyone got close to each other and waited for whatever was responsible for the stomping to show up. A massive figure eventually stepped out from the trees, revealing itself to be a bipedal dinosaur.
Ochako and Toru were so shocked that they wanted to shout out something, but their classmates put their hands over their mouths. Even Shoto was shocked to see a creature that was supposed to be extinct appearing before his eyes. Rather than choosing to fight the dinosaur, the group chose to run into the jungle instead and spy on the dinosaur from behind the trees.
"It's a T-Rex!" gasped Toru.
"No, looks a bit different," observed Koji. "While it does look similar, the overall posture, shape of the head, and size are all wrong."
San and Houston agreed. Though this dinosaur resembles a tyrannosaurus, there are differences. The size was the biggest giveaway, as there were no records of tyrannosauruses being over 30 meters tall.
The dinosaur looked around as if observing the place. Team N hoped for their lives that it wouldn't find them, though they were still ready to fight back if it antagonizes them.
The dinosaur eventually started moving again, going into the jungle on the other side. Everyone sighed with relief, thinking that the coast was clear, but they still decided to hide a bit and wait until the dinosaur had gone farther before making their move.
Suddenly, they heard screaming and yelling coming from where the dinosaur went into, and gunfire was immediately heard afterwards.
"What?! There's people over there?!" Kyoka said in surprise.
"The gunfire... It must be the soldiers!" pointed out Shoto.
As the sound of the gunfire continued, the sound of a fierce roar was heard as well, and then there was the sound of crashing and smashing, not to mention screams of terror. Team N watched from their hiding place and saw the trees shaking violently, and some of them even fell over.
Suddenly, a soldier came flying out from the jungle and flew into the trees on the other side of the river. More soldiers ran out, followed by the dinosaur, which was roaring in anger and going after them.
Some of the soldiers stopped to fire their machine guns at the dinosaur, but their bullets did nothing to it. The beast then pulled back his right leg before unleashing a fast and strong kick that whipped up a strong gust of wind that sent the soldiers flying back with a powerful force. Even trees were uprooted by the wind.
"What?! I didn't know dinosaurs can do that?!" said Toru in shock.
"Does that dinosaur have a Quirk?!" wondered Shoto.
"That does it! You're going down!" shouted one of the soldiers. His body was suddenly covered in fire, grabbing Team N's attention.
"Look! That soldier has a Quirk!" pointed out Kyoka.
"I'll show you why they call me Sergeant Meteor in the army!" shouted the burning soldier as he bent down. Pushing his legs against the ground, he shot himself towards the dinosaur at a fast speed, as if he was a meteor shooting through the sky, except this meteor shot up from the ground.
One would normally expect "Sergeant Meteor" to successfully crash into the dinosaur and knock him down, but instead, the dinosaur responded at an incredibly fast speed, swinging his massive right leg at the burning soldier and kicking him with such a force that he was shot back through the air at a fast speed. If one could see the soldier up close, he would see that the kick more or less tore his entire body apart, killing him on impact.
Team N was frozen in shock as the dinosaur killed all the soldiers. Looking around to make sure that there were nobody else to kill, the dinosaur walked back into the forest. It wasn't until the stomping stopped did Team N finally sighed with relief.
"That... That was terrifying!" said Kyoka while breathing heavily.
"I know we are supposed to be heroes... but... I was still so shocked at the massacre just now that... I didn't dare do anything...!" said Toru.
"We should have stepped out to help those soldiers... They wouldn't have died if we intervened..." said Shoto, sounding guilty that he did nothing.
"You're still students, so you don't have to push yourself too much..." San told him, trying to justify their lack of action and make them feel better.
Ochako then remembered something and asked Koji, "You were talking with the small animals earlier, right? What did you learn from them?"
"Um... I asked them that we are visitors to this place and got lost, so I asked for directions to the edge of the island..." replied Koji, looking nervous and even scared. "They told me to... to... give up all hope of leaving this island alive...!"
The others widened their eyes in shock. This was definitely not comforting news...
TO BE CONTINUED
But that giant dinosaur wasn't in the movie! Mind I remind you that I said the reading experience will be different? And I mean more than simply putting MHA characters into it.
What is that dinosaur anyway? Can you figure it out? Maybe a "kick" from it will jog your memories, heheh!
Anyway, if you know good suggestions for MHA music to use in fights, especially for the climax, please let me know!
