The first day of the show was a successful one, at least in Dana's eyes. For the most part, the contestants were feeling alright, and there wasn't a crazy amount of griping about how the teams were set up. Well, at least for most of them. Theodore was somewhat dramatic about not being on the same team as Alice, but that was something that the host could easily ignore. Thinking about it all calmed her down quite a bit, at least until she went to her office. Upon shutting the door, she seemed to become an entirely different person. The smile on her face faded into some dull frown, one which didn't even appear sad...just lacking all emotion. She walked over to her desk, sitting down at it and staring at a monitor blankly, not even opening anything on it. She sat there for a few minutes, completely detached from everything around her, not even noticing that Aaron had entered the room.

"Miss Dana?" he called her name meekly, waving from where he stood.

He got no response as she disassociated, continuing to stare at the screen before her. The bright colors turned grey in color, and the images twirled into an uninteresting blob of nothing.

"M-M-Miss Dana? Hello?"

"Huh?" she replied, suddenly shaking her head and looking over at him, "Oh, sorry! I didn't see you there. What do you need?"

"V-v-vell...I vas just going to zank you for letting me be in charge on my first day..."

"Oh, well...no problem! I needed to show off what you could do for the show, anyhow."

"Ja...zank you for zis. Is...everzing okay? You seem upset about somezing..."

"I'm fine, just a little tired is all."

"But it's not zat late...d-d-did you not sleep last night?"

"I slept, I just...uh...haven't eaten much today and I'm kinda tired because of it, yeah!"

She smiled brightly at him, trying to keep her ruse going while he was still in the room with her.

"Oh...vell...I could bring you somezing to eat...i-i-if you want..."

"No, I'm fine, thank you. Why don't you go check on the teams? See how they're doing for day two on the island?"

"Okay, I can do zis...let me know if you need me."

"Thanks, Aaron."

She continued to smile at her co-host until he left the room, shutting the door behind him. Once he did, the entire room changed into a blob of grey, encompassing everything and hiding all color. Dana looked down at her own hands, seeing that they were grey in color, along with her jacket, pants, shoes- everything. She stood from her desk, walking around the room and tapping her feet while humming a tune to herself.

"At least...no ones around, so I can sing to myself. Maybe that'll make it feel better."

She tried to imagine anything around her, but all that could come to mind was her father. She saw him next to her, but she knew it wasn't real. It could never be like that again.

"I'm so tired of being here," she started to sing in a low voice, one that made no sense for someone of her stature, "Suppressed by all my childish fears.

And if you have to leave...

I wish that you would just leave.

'Cause your presence still lingers here...

And it won't leave me alone.

These wounds won't seem to heal,

This pain is just to real,

There's just too much that time cannot erase.

When you-"

The door suddenly swung open loudly, stopping Dana from continuing her song. She saw that Aaron was back, and she put her smile back on her face.

"Sorry, Miss Dana," he started, sounding apologetic, "I forgot that we let zem go check out z-z-ze natural area, today...they aren't home."

"Oh...!" Dana planted her palm against her forehead, letting out a slight chuckle. "That's my bad, I should've remembered..."

"V-v-vas zat you singing in here?"

"No! It was just...my...uh...phone! I turned it off when you came in, I get embarrassed about my music taste."

"Ah...I see. I'll leave you alone zen...apologies."

"It's okay Aaron, thank you."

She had once again put the smile on her face, keeping it on until he left the room again.
