Chapter 3

They spotted the perp working as a janitor in Central Park. Rollins was posing as a jogger. All eyes were on him and Rollins. She got him and while she jogged, he followed on his bike. Fin said, "Stay close Rollins!" Olivia and Fin came to a fork and split up, "Damn it Rollins!" All they heard was static which was too far. She broke away and tried to take him alone.

Olivia was pissed and kept calling, "Rollins! Rollins!" Fin found the perp on top of Amanda and he had a knife to her throat. He pulled her off and punched him. Olivia showed up and helped Amanda up. She was snatching and pulling away from Olivia. "Get off of me Sergeant! I'm fine!" Olivia snatched her right back, "Stop! Let me see your neck!" Olivia turned her neck up to see, "I'm fine!" She walked away, "You may be fine, but you don't listen. You're damn lucky you aren't mine!" With that Olivia walked away, she couldn't believe she said that out loud. Amanda stood there not understanding any of it. "Rollins let's go! Now!"

When they got back to the squad room, Olivia and Fin questioned him. He had a twin and he set him up to take the fall. It was all about jealousy. They were given up for adoption and his brother had a better life, they needed a confession. Cragen looked at Amanda having heard about her stunt, "You watch with me." Amanda quickly said, "Yes sir." She never had a responsible older male figure, she respected Cragen, no questions asked.

They weren't getting anywhere, "I'm only talking to the blonde." Olivia and Fin walked out, "Cap, we need Rollins." Cragen looked at Amanda, "Benson is going in with you, but you have to talk. Watch your words, do you understand?" She looked at the squad, "Yes sir." Amanda and Olivia walked into the interrogation room. He said "You look so much prettier when you smile." Amanda knew they were looking for a chipped tooth and she read the file.

Olivia was surprised to hear a strong southern accent. Amanda had lost some of it being in New York. "So do you." He smiled the biggest smile showing off the chipped tooth. "I've been wanting to talk to you for a while. I worked your crimes in Atlanta. I was a little obsessed." Olivia looked at the two way mirror. Cragen thought Amanda was special. She was charming him and he was falling for it. He was also impressed how fast she learned the files. She started pointing out all the similarities with his twin brother.

Amanda continued to reel him in. "But baby you made a little mistake. Lift up your shirt for me baby." He smiled and lifted his shirt showing the large scar they were looking for, "Hey it's you party." She told him his brother doesn't have that scar and the Halloween rape, his brother's wife had a miscarriage that weekend and doctors and nurses claim he never left her side. She also said he made another mistake and lost his screwdriver and left a fingerprint. "Twins have the same DNA but different fingerprints but you knew that which is why you started wearing the gloves." She sat beside him and held his hand "Tell me everything. You're so much more than these little mistakes."

Amanda pulled it off and got the entire confession. Olivia was in the room in case something went left, but it didn't. She walked out to hugs and cheers. Alex was impressed, "Nice job!" Amanda blew it off, "I'm glad I could help. It's not a big deal." They looked at her like she was crazy, it was a huge deal. Fin went to tell his twin the news and full story, he was free to go. Amanda was hurt, she went to the bathroom to look at her stomach and side. The perp tackled her to the ground. The knife didn't touch her neck, but as she lifted her shirt, he aggravated her old injuries and caused some new ones.

The door opened, it was Alex and before she could put her shirt down, Alex saw the bruises. "Jesus Amanda. Are you ok?" She dropped her shirt, "I'm fine, just bruises. I'm sure I have loads of paperwork to do." Alex left the bathroom to find Olivia. She was in Cragen's office. "Can we talk a minute?" She explained what she just saw in the bathroom and she knows the difference between a fresh bruise and an old bruise. Cragen looked at Olivia, "Don't look at me. I told you, she's yours."

When they walked out, Fin was showing her the paperwork and Olivia walked over, "Fin, I need her. Can you finish up? We definitely will have more she can work on." Fin grabbed the stuff, "You got Liv. Great job Amanda!" Olivia told her to follow her. "I heard you have some bruises." Alex used the time to escape. Amanda looked at Alex and said the wrong thing under her breath. "Bitch." Olivia grabbed her before she realized what she did, "You will not be disrespectful. Do you understand me?" Amanda was scared and that was hard to do. She could only shake her head yes.

Alex pulled Olivia to the side, "Excuse us." Alex looked at her, "Get a hold of yourself Liv. She's not yours. You can't just grab her and snatch her whenever her mouth gets out of hand." Olivia knew Alex was right, "I lose all control with her Alex." Alex knew this wasn't Liv, she was always in control. "We'll get it together."

Alex took this time to leave. "Hey, want me to heat dinner at your place?" Amanda looked at them, "Are y'all together or something?" Olivia looked at Amanda, "Excuse me! Why is that your business?" She looked at Alex to answer about dinner, "Yeah. Amanda and I will be there in an hour." She turned back to Amanda, knowing full she was going to object to eating. "Don't say whatever you're thinking. Do you want to be a cop? And don't shake your head, answer me." Amanda said, "Yes ma'am." Olivia looked at her, "I'm your last shot. You do what I say, when I say it, no questions asked. Are we clear?" Amanda answered, "Yes ma'am."

They went to the ME's to see Melinda. Amanda wanted to ask, what was going on, but she was a fast learner. She was quiet. "Hey Melinda! I need a favor, can check her out and let me know how bad her injuries are and if desk duty is required." Amanda laughed, "Wait hold on, I'm not dead and I don't need to be checked." Olivia narrowed her eyes at Amanda, "Did you hear me earlier?" Olivia looked back at Melinda, "Check her out." Melinda asked, "Where are you hurt?" Olivia didn't even give her time to answer, "Lift your shirt up!"

Amanda hesitated and Olivia could see the anger in her body language. It was just like what she saw at the academy that day. "Does SHE have to be in here, when I lift up my shirt?" Melinda was also friends with Olivia. She saw what was happening, "No. Olivia can you step out please." Olivia, Alex, and Melinda all lived in the same building. They were good friends.

When Olivia left, Amanda lifted her shirt. Melinda saw a few fresh bruises forming, but a lot of old. She touched them and Amanda flinched and winced, "I want an X-ray." They walked to the machine, "Amanda, Who punched you?" She took some shots about a week ago. "Don't worry about it." Melinda gave her good news, "Nothing's broken." Amanda scoffed, "I could've told you that without an X-ray." Melinda asked, "What's with the tough attitude?" Amanda shrugged. Melinda figured Liv would handle her.

Melinda grabbed her stuff, "She's good. If she can take the pain, she's good. She should take something to help her sleep though." Olivia decided to go a different route and see if it helped. She smiled, "Thanks! She was actually our super star today. Wrapped the whole case in a big bow. I was proud of her, so I'm glad she's not hurt." Olivia knew from what Alex told her, the bruises weren't from today. She just wanted to see her reaction when she received positive feedback. Amanda liked it, she could tell by her face and body language, even though she didn't say a thing. "Melinda, want to join us for dinner? It's lasagna and salad." Melinda was happy to join them, "Sure thing."

When Olivia and Amanda got in the car and she started driving, she asked for the truth. "How did you get the older bruises?" Amanda sighed, "You aren't going to leave me alone right? What if I don't want to tell you? Are you going to keep threatening my job?" Olivia thought, "No, because that's not fair. I want you to tell me, because you trust me and I want to help you. Just that simple, so when you trust me, you tell me." Olivia didn't say anything after that.
