Chapter 3: Morning After

Tomoyo laid on the bed for hours. Sakura looks at Tomoyo with concern. "Tomoyo. Please be okay? I promise to wear all the clothes you make for me? Just please wake up." Sakura whispers. Sakura had been worried all night long. Eriol had been beside her quiet. He didn't look at Tomoyo nor at Sakura all night long. Sakura was also worried about Eriol.

There was a phone ringing through the room. Eriol still looked dead and speechless. Sakura turns to look at Eriol. Sakura sighs, "Eriol. Eriol. Eriol." Sakura yells.

Eriol slowly moves his head up and looks at Sakura. He is blinking repeatedly as the first time responding to Sakura all night long.

"Eriol, your phone is ringing. Please answer it." Sakura said.

Eriol looks at his phone and sees it's from Syaoran calling him.

"I'm sorry Sakura. I need to take this phone call." Eriol shuffles out from his chair and looks very disoriented as he walks out from the room.

Sakura sighs again. She says to Tomoyo. "I can see why you like him Tomoyo. He cares and he is very kind. It's just too bad you don't see how much he cares for you." Sakura chuckles. She pulls a strand of Tomoyo's hair from her face. "I promise you Tomoyo, I will protect you. I'm just so sorry I wasn't there for you when you needed me." Sakura felt tears coming to her eyes again. "I promise Eriol I wouldn't cry anymore. So I will try not to cry." She lifts up her head to let her tears dry up.

Eriol picks up his cell phone. He runs his hand through his hair in frustrations. "Good Morning, Syaoran." he acts calmly.

"Eriol, I just wanted to know if you got in touch with your parents?" Syaoran asked.

"I have to be honest with you Syaoran. I have not." Eriol admitted.

"Eriol. My mother is asking-"

"Listen, something came up and I"m at the hospital with my-friend. She is very important to me and I wanted to make sure she is okay." Eriol interrupted..

"I'm sorry Eriol. Just please call your parents soon. My mother really needs a reply soon." Syaoran said guilty.

"I'm sorry for the delay, Syaoran. I will do its as soon as possi-"

"ERIOL! She is awake!" Sakura exclaimed as she slammed the door open.

Eriol smiles big at Sakura. But then frowns, he was worried that she may still remember last night. He hangs up on his phone and shoves it in his pocket.

Syaoran hears the dial tone again. He looks at his phone and just glares at his phone. Syaoran breaths in and out. I will give you the exception since you are at the hospital and are not in a good mood. He thought.

He thought again about that voice he heard on the phone. He is starting to think how her voice sounds so angelic. He shakes his head and goes to check his messages from Ying Fa.

He stares at it for a while and squints his thinks, "She must be mad at me. That is why she isn't responding."

He gets up to go to have his daily breakfast with his family.

He arrives at the table and says to his family. "Good Morning." He sits down slowly and begins to eat his food.

Yelan looks at her son and is thinking of ways to get him to find a girlfriend. She would just like to know if he is interested in anyone. She plans on having lots of grandchildren. The girls she didn't have any trouble with. They were always boy crazy. But her son, nevered looked at a girl nor even held hands with anyone. The only time was when he was a young child and he held hands with the little girl and protected her. She was so was a shame she did not know the little girl's name. Yelan sipped on the tea she was drinking as she continued to stare at her son. She thought, "I will definitely find someone for you, my little xiaolang."

"Mother, I spoke to Eriol. Uncle and Auntie were just out in the sea and their connection is just bad." Syaoran explained.

"Oh, yes. I already spoke with them. They are fine for the family gathering in early April." Yelan said.

Syaoran just blinks repeatedly and looks at his mother. She now was looking down and away from him. He just thought there was no reason for him to call his cousin this morning and have him hang up on him. He shoves more food in his mouth as he thinks of different ways to curse out his cousin.

"Xiaolang. Have you met anyone yet?" one of his sister's asked.

Syaoran just stares at his plate of food and thinks of ways to answer his sister. He had not messaged Ying Fa for a few days. He thought perhaps, she gave up on this pen pal friendship.

"Xiaolang?" his sister asked again.

Syaoran came out from his trance. He replied sternly, "I haven't met anyone yet." He got up from his chair. "Mother. I will be heading to school now."

Yelan nods her head at him. Syaoran left to exit from his home. Suddenly, Yelan glares at one of her daughters. "Feimei, how dare you ask him that question. You know how hard it took me to get them to look at his online profile?" she demanded.

Feimei looks down and then looks at her other sisters. "I'm sorry mother, I just was very curious." she admitted.

"Mother, please do not be angry with Feimei. We are all curious." Fuutie explained. "We have time for little brother to find someone." she said.

Yelan looks away from them for a moment and looks outside the window in the dining room. Yelan sighs, "If only your father was here to lead him by example. Perhaps this would not have happened."

The sisters looked at their mother and went up to her and gave her a hug. "Mother, you have been great. Look at Xiaolang, he is so independant and loves us all. If father was here, he would be proud of you." Fuutie said.

Yelan hugs her daughters and says, "You girls always know what to say to me." Yelan chuckles. "Alright! Enough hugs. I need to get to the company."

Yelan kisses each of her daughters' cheeks. She walks out of their home.

Feimei looks at her sisters mischievously. "So we should check little brother's messages?"

The sisters all look at each other and slowly walk towards Syaoran's room. When Wei walks around the corner of the hallway. He sees all the sisters about to open Syaoran's door. He coughs loudly for them to hear him.

The sisters jumped up in fright. They didn't think Syaoran or their mother would be back.

"Young ladies, do you remember when young master Li came back when you entered his room without his permission?" stated Wei.

The sisters cringe in fright. Fanren turns to her other sisters, "You know what I think, it will be better off to hear it from little brother." she said in fright.

"Y-yeah. I can wait too." Shiefa said in agreement.

The girls turn to look at each other and turn away from Syaoran's door. They walk to their separate hallways to their rooms. The sisters reach to their rooms and shake in fright the last time they went into Syaoran's room.

Sakura was watching as the doctor attended to Tomoyo. Tomoyo was smiling as normal to Sakura. Sakura was confused. Tomoyo didn't look upset or angry.

"Alright. She seems to be okay from what it looks like to me." the doctor said.

Tomoyo motions Sakura to come closer to whisper something in her ear.

"Sakura. Who is this guy in the room." Tomoyo whispers to Sakura. Sakura turned to look around and all she saw was Eriol and the doctor in the room. Sakura furrows her eyebrows with worry.

"Tomoyo, that is Eriol. Do you remember him? He is our classmate." Sakura whispered back.

Tomoyo thought it over and shook her head. "There isn't any classmate named Eriol in our class." she said.

Sakura turns to look at Eriol and then the doctor. The doctor looks at Tomoyo again. He asks Tomoyo what was the last thing she remembered.

Tomoyo ponders over what was the last thing she did. "I was practicing singing for a concert we are going to attend tomorrow. Sakura! You were going to come over to my place, to study our math homework." she said.

Sakura was speechless. "That was a few weeks ago Tomoyo." Sakura said quietly.

Tomoyo looks surprised at Sakura's response. "How is that possible?"

Tomoyo looked distressed by Sakura's news and then turned to Eriol. "May I ask how we met?"

Eriol looks at Tomoyo and says, "We met online and we chatted for a while. I moved here and we met up in person. We became quick friends."

Tomoyo looks at him questionable.

Sakura sighs. "Tomoyo, he is telling you the truth. You told me this last week." She stated.

Tomoyo looks back and forth at Sakura and Eriol. "Well Sakura, if you say so. I believe you."

Tomoyo knocks on her head in the attempt to make herself remember what has happened these few weeks.

"Miss Daidouji, knocking your head will not help you remember anything. Perhaps, it's the side effect of the drug. Perhaps the person who drugged you put too much. We will have to wait a few days to see if there is any improvement on your memories." he stated.

Tomoyo looks at Sakura with sad eyes. Sakura looks at Tomoyo and says, "Your mother just called me and was asking where you have been? Should I tell her the truth?" Sakura said.

Tomoyo shakes her head. "Please don't mention it. She will just worry." Tomoyo says.

Eriol steps closer to Tomoyo. "I'm sorry."

Tomoyo looks at Eriol for a few seconds. "Um. Eriol is it?"

"Yes." he responded.

"If it's okay, would you mind stepping out for a bit as I talk to Sakura." She said.

Eriol looks at Tomoyo then at Sakura. "I don't mind stepping out for a bit. I'm just glad you are doing so much better now." he said.

Eriol looks at his watch, "I should be leaving now anyways. Please have a good chat with Sakura." he looks at Tomoyo one last time before taking his leave.

Sakura looks at Eriol with pity.

"Sakura." Tomoyo says waving at Sakura.

Sakura turned to look at Tomoyo and sat next to her on the bed.

"This Eriol is quite handsome don't you think so?" Tomoyo said shyly.

Sakura chuckles at Tomoyo. "You said that to me the first time you talked about him." she said.

Tomoyo laughs with Sakura. "What happened to me? Did something happen?" asked Tomoyo timidly.

Sakura sighs. She doesn't know if she should tell Tomoyo what had happened to her. She was almost raped and assaulted by a scumbag. Just thinking about Jin and what he almost did made Sakura so angry.

"Tomoyo. I don't know if I should tell you this. Jin h-he…" Sakura started.

"Jin? What did he do, Sakura?" Tomoyo asked nervously.

"Jin, h-he tried to assault you." Sakura said quickly.

There was a brief silent pause. Tomoyo felt a tear in her eyes as she was about to cry. She sniffled a little bit before taking a deep breath. She looked at Sakura and said, "I-it is okay. You saved me Sakura."

Sakura shakes her head. "No, Eriol he saved you." she said to Tomoyo.

Tomoyo is speechless and felt relieved nothing had happened to her. But the thought of Jin doing this to her shook her to her core.

Sakura said to Tomoyo, "Tomoyo." Sakura grabs Tomoyo hands, "Do not worry! I promise to always protect you!" declared Sakura.

Tomoyo looks at Sakura and chuckles at what Sakura said. Sakura just looks at her nervously.

Tomoyo looks at Sakura. "This is why I love being your best friend Sakura. But silly, you can't always protect me. But if you insist on protecting me, just promise me we will protect each other. I am always worried about you." she said.

Sakura looks at Tomoyo and hugs her. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to protect you this time." Sakura starts to tear up and starts to cry. Tomoyo pats her back to comfort her.

"Sakura. You can't always be there. But thank you for being there for me right now." Tomoyo said.

Sakura stands up and says, "I asked off from school because of the incident. Eriol spoke to some detectives and they wanted to ask you questions when you woke up. But seeing as how you don't remember. I will have to doctor talk to them."

Tomoyo thought for a moment and asked, "Eriol must be a very good friend to me."

Sakura looks at Tomoyo, "He is a very good friend to you." teases Sakura.

Tomoyo rolls her eyes. "I don't think it is like that, Sakura." she said

Sakura says, "Don't say that. Eriol was here all night long worried about you. I think he likes you."

Tomoyo blushes, "Don't say that."

"Tomoyo, are you blushing." teased Sakura. Tomoyo glares at Sakura.

Sakura laughs loudly.

Syaoran went to the park after school. He needs a break from his home. His sisters keep bombarding him about if he found a girl. He doesn't need a girl in his life to make him happy. He couldn't wait till winter break came. He could get away from this problem.

Syaoran sighs. He sat on the swing for an hour before looking at the time. He looks at the swing next to him. He remembers a time when he was younger in Japan. His memories were a bit blurry from thinking about it. He just remembered a little girl that came up to him and gave me a piece of candy.

Flashback:

"Hello, there." The little girl says smiling at him.

"What do you want?" he said coldly to her.

"I just wanted to see how you are doing?" she asked

He just stares at her. He didn't know why she had come up to him.

"I live just over there. I come to this playground everyday with my brother." she said as she made a nod gesture where her brother was.

Syaoran looks over where she made her gesture. He saw another boy that was older talking to someone.

"Don't worry. He won't come over yet." the little girl chuckled.

Syaoran continues to stare at her and the candy in his hand.

"Go on. You can eat this candy. I always see you here on this swing by yourself. I thought this candy could help brighten your day." She explained.

"My brother is waving at me to come to him. I hope I see you next time!" she said.

Syaoran watches as the girl walks away towards her brother. She quickly turns around and winks at him then waves him goodbye. Syaoran's heart stopped for a moment and he looked down at his candy and smiled.

He came back to the playground again. He saw her again. She was playing with a few other kids in the area. He watched her for a few minutes. He suddenly saw her coming towards him and waving at him.

"You came back." She said smiling at him. She grabbed his hand and gave him something. He looked in his hand and saw she gave him another piece of candy.

"I saved you a piece. It's my favorite one. I just hope this helps brighten your day today." She said.

He smiles unintentionally.

"Haha. Your smile is very cute." she laughs.

Syaoran blushes immediately. He says, "I-I am not cute." he says shyly.

The little girl laughs at him. "You look so lonely over here by yourself." She gets on the other swing next to him. "But with me here, you won't be lonely anymore." she smiles

Syaoran looks at her and smiles again. "Hi, my name is Li." he said.

The girl smiles, "Hi, my name is-."

There was a loud voice yelling for someone.

"Oh, I have to go now. My father is looking for me." she said sadly, "We can meet next time!"

She runs towards her father. She turns around and winks at him and waves at him.

Syaoran smiles and shyly waves back at her.

"Master Li. Mistress Li is looking for you." Wei said smiling.

Syaoran frowns and turns to head towards a limo for him. "Let us go back then."

Present

Syaoran sighs. He wished he could taste those candies again. He really needed it to brighten his day. He chuckles as he remembers his past. He squinted his eyes as trying to remember the little girl's face. He shakes his head.

"It's been a long time since I thought of you." he said.

He looked up at the sky as the sky grew darker. He smiles up at the sky. He got up from the swing and frowned at his phone. He had missed a few calls from his family. He calls his mother.

"Xiaolang. Where have you been?" His mother asked.

"I am just getting some fresh air." He said.

"Oh yes. I called you because the clan have met a girl they would like you to meet." she said to him.

Syaoran paused for a moment. "I understand mother." he said firmly. "I will be back soon." He hangs up his phone. He is worried about his future and doesn't want to feel tied down. He sighs and walks to where his car is. He wonders if Ying Fa had answered him. He needs to think of a plan to get this girl that the clan has chosen, to not like him. He sits in his car and thinks for a moment.

"Ah, why didn't I think of this before." he thought. He looks through his phone and calls a number.

"Hello, Xiaolang." a girl answered.

"Hello, Meiling. How have you been?" he asked nicely.

"What do you want?" she demanded.

"What do you mean that I want?" he cringed.

"Xiaolang, you know I know you. You never call me unless you need something from me. Haha." she retorted.

Syaoran grimaced from her answer. "Meiling, can't I ask how my cousin is doing?"

"Haha. I heard the clan has chosen a girl for you?" she said.

Syaoran continues to grimace and says, "Okay. So I need your help."

"That's what I'm talking about." she laughs, "What can I do to help you with?" she asked.

Syaoran says, "Let us meet and I will tell you what I need you to do. I need you to scare her off."
