(A/N: Have we really made it to the 3rd chapter in this Mario fic? I'm impressed! But I can't bore you to tears with such matters. I'll get Mario and Peach's wedding chapter started on the double!)
Before long, Mario and Luigi reached the chapel. Luigi decided to drive because Mario was nervous. When they got there, they noticed, to Mario's unhappiness, Peach's car was already in the parking lot.
"Oh, she beat us here..." Mario moaned.
"Don't worry. I'll go in first and make sure Peach is not in plain sight." Luigi said, getting out of the car.
"Okay, 'cause I'm not going to do what Bowser did and see Peach before the wedding. He got bad luck because of that." Mario said.
"Yeah. He had the bad luck of us coming in and stopping him from getting your girl as his wife." Cappy reminded him.
"Peach was glowing when she saw me. I was sure if I'd asked her to marry me, she would've said yes." Mario said.
"And then Bowser ruined everything again when you tried to." Cappy remembered.
"Don't remind me." Mario said, thinking of that moment and hating it.
"Sorry, Mario." Cappy apologized.
"However, I don't think he's going to ruin this. Bowser and his kids weren't around when Peach asked me to marry her, and we kept the news of our engagement on the down-low so they'd never find out about it." Mario said.
"Good for you." Cappy replied.
Luigi, meanwhile, had entered the chapel. He saw Toadsworth at the altar.
"Toadsworth, what are you doing at the altar?" Luigi asked.
"I'm the minister." Toadsworth replied.
"What? I thought that was Amanda's job." Luigi said. (A/N: Luigi is referencing the fact that I have been the minister in other fanfics I've written where characters get married.)
"No Luigi, not this time." Luigi heard me say. He turned to see me sitting in the pews with everyone else.
"Why not? I thought you liked marrying couples that you support." Luigi reminded me.
"I know I ship MarioXPeach, but I figured Toadsworth might want to be the one to marry them." I told him.
"Oh. Okay, then." Luigi said, before turning back to Toadsworth and asking, "I really want to know where Peach is. She's not in plain sight, is she?"
"She's hiding in one of the rooms. When we got here and she saw that you and Mario hadn't shown up yet, she went into hiding because she doesn't want Mario to see her until it's time for the wedding. She too knows that it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding." Toadsworth replied.
"In that case, I'll go out to the car and tell Mario that the coast is clear." Luigi replied.
"Okay." Toadsworth said as Luigi left the chapel.
In the room where Peach and Daisy were...
"I hope Bowser doesn't show up." Peach said.
"You guys kept your engagement quiet, didn't you?" Daisy asked.
"Yes. That was the plan." said Peach.
"I don't want him to show up, either. He needs to get a new hobby that doesn't involve ruining what you and Mario have." said Tiara.
"You can say that again." Peach replied.
"How come?" Tiara asked.
"Do you remember that time I mentioned, when Bowser hired a hypnotist to brainwash me into loving him so I would marry him?" Peach asked.
"Don't you dare bring that up again. I came real close to throwing up when you told us that stuff earlier this morning." Daisy said.
"Me too..." Tiara moaned.
"I neglected to mention that before I was captured and brainwashed, I dreamed that I was marrying Mario." Peach said.
"And now that dream is going to come true." Tiara said.
"Maybe not." Peach said.
"What do you mean, maybe not? You just said you were marrying Mario in a dream you had." Daisy pointed out.
"Let me explain. It started out good, but right when Mario and I were about to kiss, I suddenly got worried, because my lips weren't meeting Mario's." Peach asked.
"Why not?" Tiara asked.
"I turned and saw that Mario was captured by Bowser's henchmen!" Peach cried.
"Of course Bowser would find a way to ruin your wedding, even if it was just a dream!" Daisy groaned.
"That's awful!" Tiara cried.
"But that's not the worst part." Peach said.
"I don't think I wanna know what it is..." Daisy said, nervous about what Peach was gonna say.
"Please don't say what I think you're gonna say..." Tiara pleaded.
"When I turned back around, Bowser was in Mario's place, wanting to kiss me!" Peach exclaimed.
"EW! GROSS!" both Daisy and Tiara exclaimed.
"That is partly why I asked Mario if we could keep the news of our engagement on the down-low. He agreed to it for a very obvious reason." Peach said.
"I don't blame either of you for that." Daisy said.
"Neither do I!" said Tiara.
While this was going on, Mario saw Luigi coming back to the car, but he didn't know if it was safe to go into the chapel or not.
"The coast is clear. Peach is hiding." Luigi said as he opened the door to tell Mario what he knew.
"I hope that's what it is. If she got cold feet, I'm going to be very upset." Mario said as he got out of the car, following his brother into the chapel.
The brothers made their way to the altar, waiting for the music, and the princess.
A few minutes later, the music started, and in walked Daisy, looking pretty happy. She smiled as she took her place at the altar.
"You look lovely." Luigi whispered to Daisy.
"Thanks, Luigi. You look handsome." Daisy replied, which made Luigi blush.
Toadette came in next, acting as a flower girl. She scattered flower petals as she happily made her way down the aisle.
Following her was Toad, the ring bearer. He slowly made his way down the aisle, making sure the rings stayed on the pillow he carried. Thankfully, they did.
And then came the familiar intro of "Here Comes The Bride", and in walked Peach. Everyone was astounded by how beautiful she looked as she walked down the aisle in a slow, stately fashion. She was also holding a bouquet of red and pink roses, but among them was a Rocket Flower, the very flower Mario tried proposing to her with at the Moon Kingdom. (A/N: Peach having a Rocket Flower in her wedding bouquet symbolizes the fact that she forgave Mario.)
As for the groom, he couldn't stop looking at the lovely bride as she made her way towards him. She looked more beautiful than he'd ever seen.
"Luigi, pinch me." Mario whispered to his brother.
"Why?" Luigi asked.
"'Cause I want to make sure I'm not dreaming." Mario said.
"Dreaming about what?" Luigi asked.
"That's an angel walking down the aisle, isn't it?" Mario asked him.
"That angel is Peach, and you're not dreaming." Luigi replied.
"How do you know I'm not dreaming?" Mario asked.
"Fine." Luigi said. He pinched Mario, and Mario felt it.
"Ow!" Mario said. He was definitely not dreaming.
"Told ya." Luigi grinned.
"Here we go, then." Mario said.
Before long, Peach was at the altar, and she and Mario exchanged a loving smile with each other.
"Peach, you look more beautiful than I imagined." Mario whispered to Peach.
"Thanks, Mario. And you look more handsome than I've ever seen you." Peach replied.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join Mario and Princess Peach in holy matrimony." Toadsworth began, and the crowd cheered as though they were at a sporting event.
"I probably should have seen that coming..." Toadsworth muttered under his breath, but he let the audience cheer anyway.
When the cheering died down, Toadsworth figured it was safe to move along.
"Okay, Princess Peach, do you take Mario to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?" Toadsworth asked Peach.
"I do." Peach replied, before leaning towards Mario and whispering to him, "With all my heart."
Mario's face flushed.
"Mario, do you take Princess Peach to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?" Toadsworth asked Mario.
"You'd better believe I do!" Mario burst out, getting a laugh from the audience.
"Wasn't expecting that, but okay." Toadsworth muttered to himself. Still, he was smiling as it was time for Mario and Peach to exchange their wedding rings.
After the exchange of the rings, Toadsworth got nervous. He was not looking forward to this next part. He said, "If anyone here... objects to this union... speak now... or forever hold your peace..."
Mario and Peach were both hoping that no one would say anything, but mostly they were hoping that Bowser wouldn't show up.
Thankfully, the only sound heard in the chapel was the sound of crickets chirping, and Bowser wasn't showing up. Seems like Bowser and his kids never found out about the wedding, so they didn't come to ruin it.
"Thank goodness." Toadsworth said to himself, before saying aloud, "Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride!"
Mario dipped the princess as he kissed her, and Peach, who hadn't expected this, was so happy that she started kissing him back. And the audience stood up and applauded at this.
"And they'll live happily ever after!" Toadsworth shouted, trying to make himself heard as the crowd cheered during Mario and Peach's first kiss as husband and wife.
When they finally broke apart, Peach threw her bouquet, and everyone reached up to catch it.
"Look! I caught it!" Daisy said, holding up the bouquet.
Seeing her holding the flowers made Luigi blush like a madman.
Peach then said, "Now it's time for the reception back at the castle! Let's go!"
Everyone was happy as they made their way out of the chapel so they could go to the reception.
"Come on, Mario. Ride with me?" Peach asked.
"Of course I will." Mario said as he got into Peach's car.
"Luigi, since Mario and Peach are riding together, can I go with you?" Daisy asked Luigi, whose face had gone back to normal.
"Sure. Hop in." Luigi said, opening the front passenger door for her.
"Thanks." Daisy said, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek as she got into the car, causing him to start blushing all over again.
"Mama-mia, she's gonna be the death of me..." Luigi mumbled as he went over to the driver's side door and got in.
Mario and Peach were the first ones to make it to the castle, and once inside, all they had to do next was wait for everyone else to show up. Before long, everyone was there.
"Okay, now we can start!" Peach said,
It was a great party, and everybody had a lot of fun. Pauline and her band were there, playing songs, including the famous "Jump Up, Super Star!", and everyone danced. The guests also enjoyed the wedding cake, which Peach made herself. But mostly, everyone congratulated the bride and groom, who were practically glued to the other's side during the whole thing.
"The two of you are glued to each other more than the previous rulers were on their wedding day." Toadsworth said to Mario and Peach at one point.
"Whenever I leave Peach's side for one second, something bad happens. I'm staying close to her." Mario said.
"I'm finding it hard to leave your side, too, Mario. With you I feel safe, happy, and completely content. And I've never felt this way around anyone before. You're the only one who makes me feel that way." Peach said, before sharing another kiss with Mario.
Everyone partied all day, but when nightfall hit, everyone had to start heading home. As they left, everyone wished Mario and Peach well.
"Before you go, we have one more announcement to make." Mario said.
Everyone turned around and faced the newlyweds.
"Now that Mario and I are married, the Mushroom Kingdom will once again be ruled by a king and queen. You might want to come back 3 months from today, for our coronation!" Peach said to everyone.
That made all the guests even happier, and they were still cheering as they left the castle. They needed to mark in their calendars the date of Mario and Peach's coronation.
Before long, Mario, Peach, Cappy, Tiara, Daisy, and the Toads were the only ones left in the castle.
"So, what do we do now?" Peach asked Mario as the Toads were busy tidying things up now that the reception was over and the guests had all gone home.
"Well, now that we're married, I don't have to leave. I live here now." Mario pointed out.
"I know. And it's about time, too." Peach replied, smiling.
"You guys can go do whatever you want. I'm going to bed." Daisy told the couple as she walked to the guest room she was staying in.
"Do you want to go to bed?" Mario asked.
"We should, and not just because I'm looking forward to sleeping with you, but because we'll have to get up early tomorrow. Remember, we still have to go on our honeymoon." Peach said.
"That's right. Let's-a go!" Mario said, and he picked up the princess and carried her upstairs to her bedroom, which was now their bedroom.
"We should probably let them have their privacy." Cappy said to Tiara as they quickly left Mario and Peach's heads.
"You're right. They'll want to be alone right now." Tiara said, and they looked for her guest room, where they could go to sleep and let Mario and Peach enjoy their wedding night.
And Mario and Peach will be leaving on their honeymoon first thing tomorrow morning. You wanna see that? Then stay tuned!
