Ruby POV.
I exited the floo, and ran around Mad-Eye's house screaming for him. He came rushing out of his office wand ready, and yelled, "Ruby, what happened? Who do I need to curse?"
I only laughed, and said, "Mad-Eye you don't need to curse anyone. Although, I wouldn't mind if you cursed my family. I came here because I got my Hogwarts letter, and I want to go with you and the Scamanders to Diagon Alley."
Mad-Eye visibly relaxed, and chuckled. "No need to worry me to death Ruby," he said, "you could have approached calmly." He whispered a spell, and a beautiful, silvery bear came out, and Mad-Eye sent him off to the Scamanders.
Five minutes later, a bowtruckle came in. It, in Newt's voice, said, "We'll meet you at the Leaky Cauldron in 10 minutes."
Mad-Eye and I flooed to the Leaky Cauldron. Ten minutes later, Newt and Tina joined us. We went to Gringotts, where I withdrew money from my vault. "Where should we go first Ruby?" Tina asked, after we left.
"Wand, books, clothes, storage, potion stuff, owl, pet, and lastly equipment," I said.
We walked down the busy streets of Diagon Alley. We walked past a few more stores before finally arriving at the wand shop, Ollivander's. I opened the door, and called out, "Mr. Ollivander, no need to hide, I know you're there."
The man appeared and said, "Well hello Mr. Scamander, Chestnut, Unicorn Hair, eleven inches, and rather springy I must add. , I didn't get privellege of selling you a wand, but it is nice to see you. Alastor Moody, Blackthorn, Dragon Heartstring, 12 1/2 inches, and surprisingly durable."
Newt responded for everyone by saying, "All correct, Mr. Ollivander, but today we're here for someone else. This is Ruby Potter, my wife Tina's goddaughter, as well as Moody's."
Mr. Ollivander simply flicked his wand, and set a measuring tape flying around my nose. "Wand arm," he said, so I stuck out my left arm.
Mr. Ollivander sent the measuring tape up my arm. He then went to the back of the store, and returned with a few wand boxes. "Elm, Phoenix Feather, fifteen inches, give it a wave." I grabbed the wand, and waved it high before slamming it down. Water came rushing out of the wand, causing everyone in the vicinity to be soaked.
Mr. Ollivander handed me another wand. "Ebony, Dragon Heartstring, nine inches." I waved the wand, and jabbed it quickly into the direction of Mad-Eye. A blast of light from the wand hit him, and flung him in the air. Newt waved his wand, and Mad-Eye landed safely on the ground.
Mr. Ollivander yanked the wand out of my hands, and handed me another. "Rowan, Unicorn Hair, 10 3/4 inches." I clutched the wand in my hand before swishing the wand briskly. At first nothing happened, but a few seconds later Tina was being tied up by her clothes. Tina quickly cast "Finite," and the robes released her.
Mr. Ollivander simply handed me another wand. "Walnut, Dragon Heartstring, thirteen inches." I gripped the wand tightly before flicking it. The result was a bouquet of flowers landing on the ground. "It seems," Mr. Ollivander remarked, " that she is responding well to the Walnut, I will try one more wood before I can guarantee a good wand for her."
Mr. Ollivander picked up another wand. He motioned for me to take it, which I did. "Cherry, Dragon Heartstring, sixteen inches." I swooshed it around dramatically, and after about five seconds of swooshing I ended up turning Newt's hair into grass.
"As I thought," Mr. Ollivander mused, "It seems she reacted well to the Walnut and Cherry, but terribly to all my cores. I will have to custom make her wand. Ms. Potter, please come to my office."
I followed Mr. Ollivander to his office. After we got there, he led me to a small room. Inside, there were all sorts of wand cores."Reach out with your magic, and find the core that you're drawn to."
I reached inside myself, and pulled a tendril of energy from my core, and unleashed it on the cores. It led me all the way to the very end, to a metal vault. I opened the vault before Mr. Ollivander could tell me not to. Inside, was a small horn from a snake. "This is it, Mr. Ollivander," I said, "whatever snake it came from, it's destined for my wand.
Mr. Ollivander put on some Dragonhide gloves, and grabbed the horn, He brought me back to Tina, Newt, and Mad-Eye where he proceeded to make my wand. "Cherry and Walnut, fourteen inches, a Basilisk Horn core, and it's firm but powerful," he said to everyone's shock, and Newt's excitement, "Give it a wave."
I grasped the wand in my hand, and felt it's magic. This is my wand, I thought, and proceeded to wave the wand. Out of the wand came a silvery Unicorn, then a Basilisk, followed by a Thestral, Dragon, and Phoenix. It was oddly similar to the bear Mad-Eye had made about an hour ago. "A patronus at that age," Mr. Ollivander gasped, "Ms. Potter, you'll be a powerful witch, mark my words."
Mad-Eye, Newt, Tina, and I, walked out of the shop, after paying Mr. Ollivander of course, in silence. We got to Flourish & Blotts, where I got all the books I needed, and a few more. Animagi: All you could know, by Anthony Langall, Magical Cores, Signatures, and Power, by Nathaniel Prewett, History of the Muggle & Magical Worlds, by Muggleborn Andy Finer and Pureblood Stephan Moon, Dark, Grey, and Light Magic, by Griselda Grimm, and lastly, Every Practical, Prank, Dueling, Defensive, Healing, etc. Spell, Hex, Jinz, Curse, or Charm you can find, by Astra Sayre.
After getting my books we went to Madam Malkin's. She was very nice, and with in an hour, all my clothing was taken care of. We walked into a store called Practical Luggage, and bought me a trunk similar to Newt's suitcase. There were thirty eight rooms, and Tina said we'd fill them another time. We also got a small briefcase, which had separations for books, parchment, essays per subject, and writing utensils. It was also charmed to be durable, and had a few well placed shield charms.
We left the luggage store, and as we started heading to the apothecry, Newt said, "Why don't Tina and I go to the pet stores with Ruby, while Alastor goes to get the potion stuff and equipment?" We all agreed with the plan, so Tina, Newt, and I went down the road to the owl emporium. Inside, I found many beautiful owls, but only one caught my attention. It was a female grey hunting owl with beady yellow eyes. I decided to buy it, and we left the shop with the owl on my shoulder.
"I'll call you Artemis," I decided, "because you are a female hunter." We went to the menagrie where I found all sorts of animals.
"Ruby," Newt said, "you have thirty eight rooms in your suitcase. twenty eight of them are for animals, five of them are for yours, your friends and your family bedrooms, and the last five are labs and libraries. You are going to pick three pets now, and during the summer we can go on trips for more animals." I picked out a blue green Horned Serpent, a red and black Hippogriff, and a light brown Niffler.
I named the Serpent Hermes, the Hippogriff Feathers, and the Niffler Hera. We payed for enough food for a year and a half, and put the animals inside the suitcase. We met up with Mad-Eye at the Leaky Cauldron where we ate lunch.
After lunch, Newt and I went into my trunk. Newt waved his wand, and suddenly green grass started sprouting from the floor. Trees began growing, and there were a few gates being built. "Inanimate conjurous," I said as I willed for a sign to come. The sign appeared, and I waved my wand again. Words were being written, and by the end, I had a sign with 'Hippogriff Habitat' engraved in it, in my hand.
"Newt," I asked, "could you please put a sticking charm on this sign to the door." Newt flicked his wand, and my sign stuck like glue to the door. I walked to the next room, where I sent a spell at the door to open it.
"Ruby," Newt inquired, "how can you do so much magic, you just got your wand?" I smirked, and pulled Grandma Dorea's wand out.
"I've been using Grandma Dorea's wand since I could read," I explained, "it's Black Walnut, fifteen inches, and Phoenix feather. It's not a great match, but I need to be prepared."
"Why?" Newt asked.
