Summary
Even after the Full Moon Jam, Jade's still a jealous person. She's grown, sure, but not had a personality transplant. How she deals with the jealousy though? Well, this method is a lot more fun.
After Beck and Jade get back together in Tori Fixes Beck & Jade, Jade decides to mark her territory in a new and fun way. And Beck certainly isn't complaining.
Chapter Summary
The School Groupie tries to have some chemistry with Beck, but Jade just isn't having it.
Authors Note
Jade's behaviour in this chapter is actually the idea that spawned this entire story. And I think I've finally got an actual structure in mind now; the next two chapters will be Jade marking her territory in different ways/dealing with her jealous in an adult way, rather than screeching. Then there's a slightly dramatic interlude chapter, and then it's going to be a few chapters of Beck consciously making changes to the way he treats Jade; or more accurately, how he responds to how OTHER people treat Jade.
Chapter 3: The School Groupie
Back in Junior Year, just after the break up, school was...hard. Not just because Jade had to see Beck every freakin' day in the halls and at lunch, but because they had a lot of their elective classes together. At the start of the year and every semester afterwards, when they were still happy and willing to work at it, they'd discussed which ones they really wanted to take to further their talents and which they'd like to take for fun. They weren't in the same class for every lesson, but around 70% of their classes were together.
At the start of this year however, they hadn't spoken at all about classes. Meaning that, whilst they did share some lessons, it had dwindled down to around 35% of them now. Sure, come end of the semester they'd be able to swap things around a little, but for now, Jade was pretty sure she had more classes with Andre than Beck (which she didn't mind too much. Once he wasn't around Vega, Andre was actually really tolerable. She'd forgotten that fact after Tori Vega had swanned into the school like a Diva Disney Princess). Although, she was still pissed at him for trying to fucking pay a guy to ask her out (and hello, he wasn't even her type. When had she ever shown an interest in blonds? Minus Moose, who she could admit was more just for the thrill of competition and to piss off Beck). But she knew how psychotic Tori could be when she had a plan in mind, so she had no doubt Andre was unwillingly dragged along.
Overall, Jade didn't mind too much. She enjoyed most of her classes, and the ones she didn't enjoy as much, Beck wouldn't have been in after all (she had two academic classes this year, due to taking AP classes in her first three years at high school. And when she'd finished up AP Calc, World History and Bio last year, she was pretty much told by Lane that she'd already exceeded the academic credits needed to graduate top of the class, so she could take more electives than most, which was awesome. Due to school policy she still needed to take at least two academic classes, so she figured she'd pick something different; hence Italian and Spanish. Next semester would probably be Italian II and Psychology).
However, this did give thirsty groupies the chance to hang all over Beck, obviously not having got the memo from the Full Moon Jam that he was once more incredibly NOT single. (She'd also had her spies coughcoughCat&Tori&Robbiecoughcough keep an eye on him in classes that they may have had with him, to make sure he was following the new rules too – and she was happy to have the texts confirming that he had told girls that yes, he was dating Jade again, and yes, it was serious.)
Jade's next test came at lunch on Tuesday, as they were heading to their lockers to drop off books before heading to the Asphalt café. As the entire group but Beck (who had been in the south side of the building, for his Chemistry class, unlike the rest who had been in the North side of the building for Spanish, PoliSci and Geography (Jade, Cat and Andre, then Robbie and Tori, retrospectively)) came down the stairs in the main hall, they spotted it.
A girl with long auburn hair in masses of perfectly coiffed curls, peachy skin and an outfit similar to one Cat would wear (a cute floral cami, three quarter length skinny jeans and a pair of wedge sandles) stood in front of Beck, twisting one of her curls and batting her lashes as Beck edged around a little – his back was against his locker at the moment and it was fairly obvious the girl was inching closer. So it made Jade grin a little because he was starting to angle his back away from the lockers, as if to give him more space to move into if she kept inching forward. She could do without him having that stupid charming smile on his face, but unfortunately for her, that was just his normal face.
She felt the group freeze at her back as they all spotted Beck and the other girl. Tori was chewing her lip so hard she thought the poor girl might actually bite through it soon enough, the tanned girls hand tight on her wrist in what was either a show of support or something to hold Jade back lest she go flying into one of her apocalyptic rages.
She could see the whole group watching her with wide eyes, wondering how she'd react to seeing something like this so soon after they got back together. And yes, it pissed Jade off to no end – that redheaded skank, identified as one Vicky Lawson, was well aware that Beck was dating Jade again; Jade had seen her in the crowd on Friday night, had seen her when they were being ushered off stage by a teacher. But violence wasn't the answer, neither was screaming and shouting and swearing.
So she took a deep, calming breath, plastered an unreadable look on her face and strode down the stairs, breaking free from Tori's grip as she did so, the rest of the group – and now, the hallway – frozen as they spotted her moving towards her boyfriend and the skank hitting on him; the only two in the hall way not frozen.
"Come on Beck, I know you had your fun with Jade over the weekend but you're not actually dating her again right? I mean, you can do so much better than her!"
"You know, insulting my girlfriend really isn't the best way to get me to talk with you." Beck shrugged, the smile slowly dropping off his face as he remembered the talk on Jade's bed on Friday night. He was ashamed to admit that yes, he often didn't defend Jade when people had spoken badly about her; mostly because he was always under the impression that she didn't want anyone to defend her, because she could defend herself. But he hadn't realised that it had hurt his girlfriend, which made him feel pretty shitty looking back on it.
"Oh come on Beck-"
"Hi babe." Jade interrupted with a faux sweet smile, not even sparing Vicky so much as a glare, before she placed her hand on Beck's jaw and led him down to her, rising on her tiptoes just a little to press her lips onto his. And then came her little trick – see, just walking up to Beck and giving him a kiss wasn't enough – sure, it marked him as hers, but it didn't prove that the feelings were reciprocated. It could just be seen as her being ganky and clingy.
But Jade had a secret weapon, that came from knowing and dating Beck for almost three years, a weapon that came from being the only person he really kissed (not counting stage kisses) for that whole three-year period, meaning she knew exactly what he liked.
So without even a warning, she flicked her tongue out and licked along the seam of his lips which were pressed against hers – and the effect was almost instantaneous; Beck's hands, which were lightly placed on her hips, tightened almost instantly and within seconds, her back was pressed against the fairly uncomfortable lockers and his body was plastered against hers, one of his hands going up to burrow itself in her hair.
She grinned into the kiss, feeling his hips dig into hers, the hand on her hip moving around to her lower back to crush her against him fully. When they finally parted for air, Jade gave him a small smirk. "Miss me?"
"You bet." He grinned down at her, taking a few seconds to gather himself before stepping back a little, giving her space to catch her own breath, before Jade acted as if she'd just spotted the redhead who was standing there with her eyes and mouth open wide – along with their group of friends who were frozen on the stairs.
Vicky Lawson had known she was playing with fire. She knew that, that witch Jade had managed to dig her claws into Beck on Friday night. But she just...couldn't accept it. Why would Beck Oliver want to be with such a ganky, trashy girl? She had piercings and a tattoo for gods sake! She was a sadistic freak who terrified over half of the school. Vicky could have accepted it – well, only just – if he had started dating Tori Vega. Even Cat Valentine would have been acceptable – the girls of the school had long since accepted that Tori and Cat were permanent features in Beck Olivers life. If he had decided to start dating one of them, then fine. They could deal with that. Tori was pretty and sweet and kind to everyone. Cat was talented and ditzy and made you want to protect her.
Jade West, however, was gorgeous and talented – there was no denying it. But she was an ice queen, frosty and frigid and mean. She didn't fit with Beck. And she was too protective. How was Beck meant to know that other girls out there were better for him if they couldn't get close enough to him without being at risk of physical harm?
So, during Chemistry, Vicky had made sure to sit next to Beck, to be his lab partner. She hadn't mentioned Jade or the Full Moon Jam. Beck had seemed in a really good mood for some reason – although she had glimpsed at what could have been a fading bite mark on his shoulder when he fixed the collar of his plaid shirt, and she could see little crescent shaped nail marks along the side of his throat; obviously, he'd had a good weekend. And that was fine; Jade was crazy, so no doubt she was a really good lay – she was pretty sure that's what guys said about crazy chicks. But Vicky couldn't accept the fact that Beck saw her as anything else, that he actually wanted to be with her, and wasn't just blinded by the fact that Jade had, even to Vicky who was 100% sure of her heterosexuality, pretty amazing tits and was (most likely, but never confirmed) a freak in bed.
And so, she flirted and smiled and touched innocently – but was consistently disappointed as Beck responded to her flirtations with pointed comments about Jade, smiled back stiffly and moved away from her the second she tried touching him – at one point he literally picked her hand up from where it rested on his forearm, between his index finger and thumb and placed it back on her side of the chemistry bench.
But she wasn't deterred. So she followed him to his locker, chattering away about chemistry and flipping her hair and batting her eyelashes. Anything to get him to pay attention to her. And then he made yet another comment about Jade – something about how, yes, he knew the place she was talking about. He had planned on taking Jade there on Sunday but instead got roped into a BBQ with his parents because they wanted to catch up with Jade. (How the hell were his parents so supportive of the relationship?! She'd once went over to his at the start of Sophomore year, not long before he moved into the RV on his drive way, to work on a school project and his parents had been nice and polite but obviously unimpressed with her blatantly flirting with their son. At first, she thought it was that they were just strict and didn't approve of Beck dating or they were just naturally stand offish. But then, after an hour, Jade had arrived and just strolled right in without knocking. She thought she'd see a fun show, after all, if his parents didn't like warm up to her then they probably hated Jade. But she was shocked when, after Jade had glared at Vicky and given Beck a kiss, Mrs Oliver had given Jade a tight hug, Mr Oliver had ruffled her hair a little and then dragged her into the kitchen to taste test his latest creation. It was...surreal. In what world did parents love dark and mean Jade but then treat her, someone pretty and popular, like she was an unwelcome guest?!)
She finally had enough when they made it to his locker and she knew she had to work fast, before Jade and Beck's group of friends appeared.
"Come on Beck, I know you had your fun with Jade over the weekend but you're not actually dating her again right? I mean, you can do so much better than her!"
It was a Hail Mary, she'd admit it. And maybe she came on too strong, because his polite smile dropped off his face and his brow furrowed as he looked at her – in disappointment and annoyance. "You know, insulting my girlfriend really isn't the best way to get me to talk with you."
"Oh come on Beck-" Vicky's words were cut off at the appearance of the girl in question. She expected screaming and shouting and having to run away to escape the wrath of the ridiculously violent gank. But instead of any of those things, it was much worse.
She practically ignored Vicky's existence (something Vicky was really not used too), and simply greeted Beck with a soft kiss, a hand on his cheek. What was she playing at? Surely Beck could see that she was playing some stupid game, pretending to be nice and in a few moments, she'd turn and scream and show the world what a Gank she was.
Instead though, Beck made the next move; by practically pushing her against the lockers to deepen the kiss to a level that was borderline inappropriate for school. And he didn't stop. If anything he tugged her closer. When they finally parted, she didn't hear the muttered words but could see the softness on Beck's face. Softness he'd never shown when talking to any other girl, and Vicky realized it was the first time in 9 months that, that softness had been shown.
Jade could only smirk at the wide eyed and open-mouthed look Vicky was giving her and Beck, along with the frozen faces of their friends; they'd all assumed she'd go psycho on Vicky, and then on Beck. Which, to be fair, wasn't exactly farfetched considering that's exactly what would have happened before. But as much as she liked feeling angry and enjoyed her arguments with Beck (when they were over silly petty things, not over stuff that actually mattered, like girls throwing themselves at him and him not rejecting them despite him having a girlfriend) she couldn't let her anger get out of control. And besides...she wasn't exactly objecting to having him slam her against lockers to make out. It was kind of the highlight of her day.
"Oh. Sorry Lawson. I didn't see you there." She drawled with a sly smirk, one that boys probably wouldn't pick up on, but every female who saw it knew what it was, what that little smirk practically screamed. 'Mine'. She looked up at Beck with a small grin. "Buy me a coffee?"
"Sure." He chuckled in response. "Bye Vicky. See you next Chemistry class." He nodded at her briefly, before the pair made there was away from Beck's bank of lockers, heading over to hers instead, his arm winding around her waist and his hand resting just above her hip bone, not low enough to be obscene but enough to mark his territory.
Vicky could only blink as the pair strolled away, Beck's arm firm around her as they spoke quietly, a grin on their lips. Well. That was...something. And unexpected. Although really, it shouldn't have been. Everyone knew Jade West was smart. She was manipulative. And she'd found a way to be even more of a threat to the girls who wanted Beck; because now, to Beck? No girl matched the bar that the dark haired beauty nicknamed 'The Wicked Witch of West Hollywood' had set. And, if Vicky was being totally honest? She didn't think any of them had ever really had a chance.
