"Sorry...you said you were a 'Mythical Pokémon?' What's that?"
Meloetta and I have walked, I presume a few miles through the forest. She stops and looks at me.
"You don't know what a Mythical Pokémon is?"
I shake my head no. She then takes my hand.
"All right...let's start with a basic question. Do you know what Pokémon are?"
"No. Should I?"
Meloetta looks at me in astonishment. Then, she started floating, and that startled me. Meloetta notices me flinching, and stops floating.
"It's ok. I'm not gonna hurt you...floating is how I normally get around."
She then starts walking through the forest, holding my hand so I cannot lose her.
"Ok...let me explain...in a bit."
I nod, a little confused. Then, she gasps, and motions for me to quietly follow her. I walk beside her, and she pushes a few leaves aside. We walk through them into a clearing, where all sorts of creatures can be seen. Meloetta walks in front of me a little ways, then turns around to face me.
"These creatures you see in front of you, myself included, are Pokémon. We live in harmony with humans, unless they hurt us or invaded our territory. Most Pokémon cannot speak human. Some Common Pokémon can, most Legendaries can, and almost all Mythicals-like myself-can."
She directs my attention to a green caterpillar on a tree.
"That Pokémon there is called a 'Caterpie.' They are pretty weak, but they do have the Poison Type."
I nod as I somewhat understand. She points to a walking plant, with leaves for arms.
"That one is called a 'Bellsprout.'"
I nod again. Then I tell her about my scary encounter with the giant bee, and the lizard plant creature that saved me. She gasps.
"You were attacked by a Beedrill, and a Bulbasaur came and saved you? Wow!"
I look at her, and simply nod dumbly.
"Bulbasaur are a rare type of Pokémon that has been dubbed as 'Starters,' Pokémon given to young trainers at 10 or 11 years of age to help them start their journey through the Region."
"Will I get one?"
She then looks at me.
"How old are you?"
I think back, and for some reason, I can remember it. I'm 10 years old. That's all I remember. It's odd that I would remember my age, yet nothing else about myself, not even my name.
"Well...I remember I am ten years old. It's strange that I only remember my age."
Meloetta nods.
"Well if you were to go to a Professor's lab, you would be given a Starter. And...wait. You said you only remember your age, right? No name, nothing else?"
I nod. Meloetta notices, and stops moving.
"Well then, how about we use that as your name. At least...until you get your memories back… Ten."
I smile and nod again before we head off through the forest. Then I realize just how parched I am, and shake Meloetta's arm. She looks back at me.
"Hm? What's wrong?"
"I'm very thirsty...can we find some water please?"
She nods, then lets go of my hand.
"What are you doing, Meloetta?"
"I'm going to ask a fellow Pokémon if they can lead us to some water that is safe to drink. Wait here."
She floats off through the woods, and I lean against a tree. Soon she comes back with a Bellsprout behind her.
"Bellsprout here knows where some water is. Come on, let's go!"
I take the hand of both Pokémon and we head off through the forest. We go down a path I have not checked yet, surprisingly. We then come to a little pond of clear water, and I get on my knees and scoop some water into my mouth. Meloetta then pulls me back from the water so I don't overdrink, and she thanks Bellsprout. It goes on its merry way. Meloetta takes my hand once again, and the two of us set off to look for the exit. After about 2 hours of searching, I've started to completely give up, and I can tell Meloetta senses it, as she pats my back.
"It's ok. We WILL escape. I know it!"
I then remember that Meloetta can float.
"Hey Meloetta?"
"Yes,Ten?"
"You can float...so why don't you just float out of here?"
Meloetta stops walking, then floats up to look me in the eyes.
"I can't just LEAVE a 10 year old amnesiac boy lost in Viridian Forest all alone!"
She floats back down to the ground.
"Plus, being a Mythical Pokémon, I'm very rare. So if any Trainer spots me, they'll do everything in their power to catch me. So for the time being, I do feel a bit safer with you."
I then look at her confusedly.
"What's a 'Trainer?'"
She appears shocked, then remembers I have amnesia, and calms down.
"Since we are in Kanto, and not Unova, I'll let Professor Oak explain that. He'd probably do a much better job."
"WHO?!"
She giggles.
"You'll meet him once we get out of here. Now come on, Ten! Enough with the questions! I'm sure you'll get all your answers soon."
She floats up, and this time lands on my right shoulder.
"Let's GO!"
I trudge through the forest, and it seems like I'm in here for an eternity. But then, light! The tree cover starts getting sparser. Now filled with determination and excitement, I run for the exit. I feel Meloetta hold on tightly to my shoulder so as to not fall off. Then, we finally break free! Freedom at last! As I soak in the light, suddenly I hear a sound. I open my eyes, and then hear Meloetta gasp.
"Run, Ten! RUN! It's Team-"
Her voice cuts off. I look and see a hand covering her mouth. Her eyes are wide. Then the last thing I see is Meloetta turning invisible. All is darkness after.
