Chapter 3: Useless, Son!
-One Month Later; Axel; Guild-
I sighed as I laid my head on the table, exhausted at the events of today. I had gone out with my party to go questing again and… It was RIDICULOUS. Ever since that day we talked to Eris, I had took it upon myself to train everyone to be on par with each other in levels. Well, that Perk, Dragonborn, was NOT screwing around when it said I would receive a severe EXP yield after level 30. I was gaining less and less levels with each 3 I gained. I am the highest level at 36, with Darkness being the 2nd highest at 34, Connor being 3rd at 32, and Yunyun being last at 31. But, that don't mean she is the weakest member. Far from it, actually… Her magic is the HIGHEST in the group and Darkness is the highest in Vitality while Connor is highest in Intelligence and I am the highest in Strength. See, it all balances out. However, there is some things I have to bring up. During my meditation sessions, I picked up something… Something I didn't think would be possible to me. But, the more I thought about it… It made sense. So, you heard of Demon Slayer, right? Well, I picked up an ability from there called Total Concentration Breathing. What is that, you ask? From what I remember, it actually stems from what is regularly known as Breathing Styles, a different type of swordsman style that makes use of specific breathing styles that increase lung capacity. This allows the wielder to augment their body and enhance their offensive and defensive capabilities and allow themselves to heal from specific wounds and slow down poisoning… It's a pretty useful skill if you aren't into battling with Ki or magic. Well, I already have Ki and Magic… So, why did I learn this? Well, simple answer… Demon Slaying abilities. That's right, I wanted to take advantage of the Demon slaying aspect of it to ensure that I can defeat this Devil King. Also, it was kinda cool the first time around I used it… So, yeah. So far, I have learned and mastered Water and Sun Breathing. It was kinda hard since that's basically… Water and Fire abilities simultaneously. But, I did it. Next would be Thunder Breathing. I wonder if I can teach my teammates this… Wouldn't be hard. But, it would take forever. Speaking of which, I have been using the Room Of Spirit And Time a few times. I promised that I wouldn't abuse it… And, I kept my promise. I only go in to get some training for my teammates done. Speaking of which, Darkness has gotten her accuracy up by a large amount and is hitting her targets more, Yunyun has learned some advanced level spells that actually give me a run for my money whenever we spar, and Connor picked up being able to use Chaos energy. You know, that power from the Sonic series that revolves around the Mythical Chaos Emeralds. Same energy that Shadow uses but never fully used its capabilities at all. You know, for being the ultimate life form… You think he would be one shooting final bosses just by looking at them. But, whatever… Anyway, back on track… When I said today's quest was ridiculous… IT WAS RIDICULOUS. Let me lay it out for you…
Today, we decided to take an easy quest right? Well, nothing is ever easy. Kazuma and Aqua asked to tag along to get some EXP for themselves. Jesus, that's not the worst part. THEY WRRE STILL LEVEL 1! LIKE, WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY DOING THIS WHOLE TIME?! Well, Kazuma told me what they were doing… Taking part time jobs since the money I gave them a month ago DIDN'T EVEN LAST THEM A WEEK! LIKE , COME ON! Anyway, to say we had to literally babysit them was an UNDERSTATEMENT. Well, Kazuma tried, I will give him that… Aqua… Oh, god… Oh fucking god… How do I even say this without screaming? Aqua was so FUCKING WEAK IT WASN'T EVEN FUNNY! She got eaten TWICE! HOW?! The first time she was trying to buff us up with her buffing spells but it didn't really affect us since we were so ahead of levels that it barely registered to us. The second time she tried to fight them HANDS ONLY! Aqua, you are not a Martial Artist… I AM! When she tried to punch the monster with an attack she called God Blow, it literally bounced off its stomach and did no damage. RATHER, ALL IT DID WAS MAKE IT EAT HER, HER DAMN FEET DANGLING OUT OF ITS MOUTH! So, after Kazuma saved her from that disaster… We had to clean up after her and go home, tired from hearing her whine the WHOLE FUCKING WAY. At that point, I had reached my breaking point and socked her in the jaw, shutting her up the rest of the way. I admit, it was a bit harsh… But, you put up with her. Come back to me when you had enough and you would do the same. Now that you are caught up, let's go back to our regularly scheduled program. I rubbed my temples as Connor stared at me.
"You good, bruh?" Connor asked me and I groaned loudly as I shook my head.
"No… Why the fuck does Aqua have to be so goddamn useless? I don't understand… She is a GODDESS. Yet, she is so shit," I said in an annoyed tone, "How?! HOW?! And, all she can do is party tricks?! I… God, This is so bad! If I knew it was this bad, I would've found them a month ago and trained them myself! I expect her to have some sort of battle experience, but no! She got eaten by level 1 enemies! Archbishop, my fucking ass! I can understand Kazuma not being able to keep up with us at this point… But, FUCK!" I slammed my left fist onto the table and growled loudly.
" Now, you see why I dislike her. She is too lazy to do anything. Makes sense she is paying for it big time," Baldur's voice said in my head as my right arm was encased by the gauntlet.
"I do think that is an unfair assessment of Aqua. I mean, you only seen her battle once," Yunyun said to me and I looked up at her.
"I am being super critical since she BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE, REMEMBER? I expect her to be one-shot regular fodder enemies like Giant Frogs. Thank God I am not on their team," I said to Yunyun as I turned to her, "However, I am sorry I am being super negative right now, but after what I have seen… No, I can not let that go. She needs an OVERHAUL on basic training, AT LEAST!" Yunyun blushed and twiddle her fingers.
"I mean, she may be fooling around with you. She might be super strong…" Yunyun said as she looked at me.
"I honestly wish that were the case… But, I don't think that would be the case. Kazuma mentioned to me that her Intelligence is the lowest he has ever seen and I took a look myself… And, he was right. IT'S A 1!" I said in exasperated annoyance as I threw my hands up in the air, "There has to be a joke somewhere… She can't be that dumb and have that much power! I swear, if I run into someone else like her… I might just quit on life. The worst part is… She's not even on my team, and I wanna strangle her for not taking things seriously!"
"You got me there… How did a girl like Aqua become a Goddess?" Connor asked as he folds his arms across his chest. Yunyun looked past me and gasped loudly.
"What?" I asked and looked back just as Yunyun jumped to her feet, kicking her chair out from under her and racing over to where Kazuma was sitting alone. I should've mentioned that Aqua is bathing right now in the hot springs with Darkness, washing the slime off of her body. Yunyun was running over to a girl with a short red dress and a large witch hat on her head holding a large brown staff with a green gem hovering in the middle of the staff. The girl was talking to Kazuma, not noticing Yunyun running over to her.
"Megumin!" Yunyun called and Connor looked back and saw the girl.
"Oh, this is gonna get interesting," Connor said, "Didn't know Megumin came into town… She should've said hi, at least."
"You know that girl?" I asked Connor and he looked back at me and nods his head quickly.
"Oh, you will not like this one. She practices Explosion magic… And, ONLY Explosion magic. She only knows the one spell and prefers to use that one spell," Connor explained and I fell out of my chair, just done with life. I got back in my chair as Connor snickered at me.
"Why, God?! Why do you do this?! Kazuma doesn't deserve that!" I said in sorrow as I placed my hands over my face. I rubbed my face and sighed heavily as I watched the exchange between Yunyun and Megumin. They were quite a distance away so I couldn't hear the whole conversation. But, from what I could decipher… Megumin and Yunyun were rivals and friends, I guess? I mean, being friends with a one track mind individual can lead to a lot of disaster and crazy shit. I put my chin on my right hand and waited for Yunyun and Megumin to finish their conversation. All of a sudden. Megumin FELL TO THE GROUND. What the hell?! Connor and I jumped out of our seats and ran over to check on Megumin. When we got over there, however… GRRRROWWWLLLL. WHAT?! WAS THAT HER STOMACH?!
"Is she just hungry?" I asked plainly and they looked up at me as I pulled out a Senzu Essence Capsule and clicked on it, "Hold on. This does act as a Senzu Bean, too… And, Senzu Beans give the patient a full stomach for a few days. Stand back." A needle pops out of the bottom of the Capsule as I knelt beside Megumin on her left side. I flipped her over and stabbed her with the needle on the upper left thigh. She hissed in pain as I injected the essence into her body. When I was done, I put the empty needle into my inventory and looked down as Megumin opened her eyes quickly and looked around.
"What happened?" she asked as she sat up.
"You fainted from hunger and I injected you with a needle. You're welcome," I said plainly as I stood up. She stood up as well and looked at me.
"Who are you?" Megumin asked me and I sighed.
"I'm a friend of his. Why did you faint from hunger?" I asked her and she blushed while twiddling her fingers.
"I… Haven't had much to eat on the journey here," Megumin said sheepishly. I sighed and shook my head.
"Well, why not? Do you not have money or something?" I asked her and she shook her head. Are… Are you serious? You went on a journey without at least a silver coin in your name?! Yunyun pulled me aside just as Connor spoke up to talk with Megumin.
"She's… Not exactly wealthy. She came from a poor family, per se… And, has to go some days without food," Yunyun said and I sighed at that. That trope, huh? Well, to be honest… I would feel bad if she couldn't learn magic. Well, she HAS magic to defend herself, albeit a crazy type of magic but magic nonetheless.
"Can't she use her magic to blow shit up? She can hunt with her magic, can't she?" I asked and Yunyun shook her head, "Why the fuck not?!"
"Because of the high cost of casting the spell, it renders her immobile for a short period of time and she can't cast it again for the remainder of the day," Yunyun said and I couldn't help it… I screamed in anger at that. Such a useless magic spell if you are going solo! Hell, even in a party! Oh my God, this is so bad I might have an aneurism. She's not even part of my party and I am getting extremely upset at that. That will cause extreme problems going down the line from here.
" Talk about your one trick pony," Baldur agreed with my frustration. I took a deep breath after that and calmed myself down.
"The worst part about hearing that is that she can LEARN more spells but chooses not to because it's not enough. I wouldn't be so mad if she had some sort of other offensive spell or a fucking healing spell… I am so worried for Kazuma right now," I said as I rubbed my temples, "Yunyun, be honest with me. Do you have any chance of beating her?" Yunyun nods her head.
"Now, I do… With your training, I have learned other forms of magic. I can outsmart her since she can't keep up," Yunyun said as she nods her head and her bust bounced up and down. I sighed with relief at that. If she couldn't, I would be on the floor in a blind rage.
"Well, it all comes down to Kazuma choosing if he agrees to take her with him," I said and I heard Connor laugh out loud. Seems something made him laugh… But, what? I looked back at him and saw him on the floor on his back, rolling and laughing so hard. What was so… I look up and saw Megumin posing in some chunibyo way. Oh, yeah… That. Connor loves anything chunibyo and he finds it funny. Well, that makes sense. But, he never laughs that hard. Yunyun and I went back over and I noticed that Darkness and Aqua were with everyone.
"So, what did I miss?" I asked and Kazuma looked at me.
"Well… the girl had mentioned some weird names and Connor burst out laughing," Darkness said and I nodded my head.
"Oh, man. Oh, man… That's good… What kinda names…" Connor giggled as he got back to his feet and wiped the tears from his eyes, "Whoo! What a good laugh. I'm sorry, what happened?"
"What were the names?" I asked him.
"Yuiyui and Hyoizaburoo," Connor snickered and I slapped my forehead at that. Right… It has to be a family thing, clearly. What are those names?
"Of course. Well, can't have a ridiculous sounding name in this world," I said to no one in particular as I sat down, "Well, it can't be worse than having a plain name like James…"
"So, Kazuma… She is joining our group?" Aqua asked as she looked at Kazuma. He nods his head and I just pinched my brow. Yep, he's screwed… And, that is his choice. Not a good choice, but his choice nonetheless.
"You're not gonna warn him?" Yunyun asked me and I shook my head, "Why not?"
"It's best to let him make those choices himself since he is the leader of his party. Same goes for me," I said as I looked at her, "I shouldn't get mad over it so easily… But, I can't help it. It's such a stupid handicap. Well, I'm gonna turn in for the night. Don't wait up for me, okay?" I stood up and walked off.
"Good night, James!" my party called to me and I waved to them. I left the guild and sighed as I made my way back to the inn. My watch beeped at that exact moment I sighed and I looked down at it. I answered it and there was a notification for me from my Perks. Huh? I gained a perk? I checked it and hummed in intrigue.
Perk 6: Not A Fan of Godly Power. Due to your distaste in some godly factions, you grow a resistance to high level magic. However, your distaste also increases damage to Holy attacks. 80% resistance to all magic attacks that reside over level 30 at rhe cost of 60% increase to Holy attacks.
Well, I swear this is gonna come in handy somewhere. But, I hopefully don't have to worry about it. I put my screen away and kept walking… But, stopped because I felt a faint Ki signature behind me, following me closely. I forgot to mention that I picked up Ki Sensing during my training. Anyway, I looked back and saw nothing behind me. I turned back around and stopped as a hooded figure stood in front of me, wielding a jagged dagger in its right sleeve.
" GET BACK, KID!" Baldur roared in my head and I looked back up at the figure, looking into it's eyes. It swung at me and I leaped back while kicking it in the chest. I felt a painful burning sensation from my chest and I looked down and saw a thin line on my chest and blood dripped from the wound. There was also faint glimmers of light coming from the wound, as if the cut was emanating light. I looked back up and saw the hooded figure holding the dagger in its hand while staring at me with Crimson red eyes glaring back at me. My screen pops back up and scans the figure.

What the fuck is Holy Poisoning?! Sounds painful.
"Oww… Shit, that hurt. Who is this person?!" I asked as I placed my hand over my wound.
" I don't know… But, whoever it is… We can not hold back. They are aiming to kill you," Baldur said and I frowned, " That dagger ain't for show. It is blessed with Holy water."
"Blessings suck sometimes," I muttered and pulled out Lostvayne from its hidden sheath and powered up Susano'o. My Susano'o looked kinda like a hybrid mix between Shisui and Itachi's Susano'o. I also learned how to shrink and condense it to a more manageable size to make sure it don't harm anyone in town. I brought out my screen in front of me and went to the BGM section.

I then raced at the hooded figure and slashed at them with Lostvayne making them jump back and land a few feet away from me. I sucked jn a deep breath and a cool blue aura came out of my mouth.
" Total Concentration Breathing, Water Breathing…" I said as my blade became surrounded in clear blue water, " 1st form: Water Surface Slash." I raced at the figure, generating some momentum and closing the distance between myself and the figure. The figure turned their blade backwards and prepared for a counterattack. I clashed my water enhanced blade with their holy blade, creating a loud clanging noise and forcing a standstill between us. I gritted my teeth as I tried to look inside of the hood and figure out who this assailant was. The figure pushed me back and I stepped back before coating my blade in a red and black aura as the water disappeared.
"Man, this is gonna get Hella tedious. Vice Blood!" I called and delivered a horizontal Slash and hundreds of black and red needles shot out of the red Slash wave at the figure. The figure changed their stance and began rapidly slashing the air in front of them, deflecting the needles away at such high speeds that it looked like their hands were moving at a Blur. Well, shit… The needles disappeared after being deflected and as soon as the attack stopped, the figure glared at me after finishing deflecting the attack.
" It's like they have a counter for everything you do. Like, it knows what you are gonna do before you do it," Baldur said in my head and I narrowed my eyes before taking a step forward. I knew this wouldn't end so peacefully since I had already taken damage…. And, it doesn't look like this figure is gonna let me go. So, I coated my blade in water again and took another deep breath.
" Total Concentration Breathing. Water Breathing… 3rd Form, Striking Tide," I said calmly and lunged forward and began twisting my body in a circular motion, delivering circular slashes that caught the figure off guard and cut into its robes. It jumped back, covering its torn parts of the robe and had seemed… Embarrassed. I stopped and looked closer… To see a pair of breasts hiding behind a dark green sports bra.
"It's a girl?! Who is this chick?!" The figure stared at me and removed the hood to show me their face… And, I was stunned to silence. It was indeed a female… But, this female had small fair skinned horns poking out of its head while hiding them in her short black hair. She also had beautiful emerald green eyes that stared back at me.
" An Oni?! Holy shit! But, how can an Oni hold a Holy Dagger?!" Baldur said in shock and I blinked in surprise at her. She had a blush on her cheeks as she held up her dagger. I flinched at the pain in my chest as the light grew brighter. Shit, that must be the Holy Poisoning thing she can inflict. I sank to my knees and groaned in pain. She stood up and walked over to me, holding the dagger above her head. When she came to me, she stood over me and stared at me for a few seconds. I looked up at her and groaned in pain again. Well, I underestimated her… That Status infliction is really kicking my ass. Before she brought the knife down on me, she stopped and yelled in pain as she held her face. She drops the dagger on the ground, a clanging noise was heard when it hit the ground. She sank to her knees, panting in agony as she held her hands over her face.
"What the hell? What's going on?" I muttered as I looked at her.
"J-james… J-jamie…" she said in exasperated gasps as she looked up at me, "Jamie… Don't… Don't leave me… Again…" What? How does she know me? I took a look at her and gasped in shock. Thus was an old friend of mine from my childhood who died of cancer! Her name was…
"Y-yuki? Yuki Bertha?" I said in shock and she trembled as she steps backwards from me. I went up to her and held her shoulders, staring into her eyes. They were full of… Fear and anger mixed with confusion. I didn't know what to do.
"How did this happen to you, Yuki?! Please, talk to me!" I told her and she tried to go for the dagger again. She instead… Smashed her palm into my chest and gritted her teeth as the light disappeared into her hand. She screamed in pain as she fell back with the light surrounding her hand.
"Yuki!" I called as I went to her side and she clutched her hand.
"I… I don't want you to get hurt! Leave me!" Yuki said in agony as she looked at me with tears streaming down my cheeks. I gritted my teeth as I held her close to my chest.
"James! Please!"
"No… I will not leave you again, Yuki! I'm sorry I wasn't there in your final hours… I promise that will not happen again. Baldur, help me!" I said and I felt Baldur start to take over.
" Let me work, kid. Take a back seat. If you wanna save her, she will have e to become your servant," Baldur said as his body structure overtook mine, " It's the only way. The Holy Poisoning is eating away at her sanity."
"Just save her! I will worry about the consequences later!" I said and Baldur laid Yuki down on the ground.
"J-Jamie…" Yuki said softly as she looked up at me. Baldur held out his left hand and a dark mist escaped from his hand and went into Yuki's body.
" With this mist, I invoke the contract between the God Of Rage and this Oni servant. Become part of my army and live only for my sake… To this I enchant… Dark Ties!" Baldur chanted and Yuki began convulsing on the spot. The light in her hand leaked onto the ground and became a golden liquid that melted the ground under her hand. The dark mist enveloped Yuki and evaporated after a few seconds, looking about the same… Sans a new Dragon Tattoo on her forehead that her hair now hid and her bust size growing a cup size. She moaned and laid on the ground, unconscious as another dark mist slowly expelled out of her mouth and head and went into the air.
" Baldur… So, you were alive in another. I must say, you are seeing better days… And, a whole lot weaker than before. Too bad for you, " the mist said in a demonic voice, " Don't worry, though… We will meet again in the future. Just you wait."
" Well, then… Bring on your forces. I will be waiting for you to show your cowardly face," Baldur told him with a vicious snarl, " Run like the coward you are." The mist disappeared into thin air and Baldur grunted in anger.
"Was that…" I said as I returned to normal. My wound rapidly healed itself and I sighed with relief.
" Yes. That was the Devil King, the coward himself. We will see more of his cronies in the future. This was just a test, and we barely passed," Baldur said angrily and I groaned in annoyance. I looked down at Yuki and touch her face. She stirred back to consciousness and looked up at me.
"J-Jamie? I-is that… You?" she said softly and opened her eyes fully. They were now aquamarine blue, the same color I remembered.
" How do you know Yuki?" Baldur asked me calmly and I sighed while helping Yuki to her feet. She rubbed her forehead and looked around.
"She is an old friend that I had a crush on when I was around 8. She died of a brain tumor that burst in her head when we rode the bus home. It was a bad day for everyone," I said as I shook my head, "But, how are you here Yuki?"
"Where is that voice coming from? Where am I?" Yuki asked as she looked at me. I held up my arm that had the gauntlet and showed it to her.
"The voice is coming from here. His name is Baldur, the Dragon God Of Rage. He saved you from being a slave to a Devil King's will," I told her and she looked at me in confusion, "There is so much I have to tell you. But, let's get to an Inn. We have a lot to discuss…. But, before I do that…" I brought up my watch and got Yuki's stats.

Wait, that is a little more than I expected. I noticed that Connor had a Ultimatrix Timer on his stat sheet and also had KP like I did. Looks like everyone's stat sheet is different. Makes sense. Wait, what's a switchglaive? Hold it, I remember. From Nioh 2, I think. I remember Kitty playing the shit out of that game and using a switchglaive that was Imbued In Poison. Damn, didn't think elements of the Firm Software games would exist here too. Ah, shit… If it does, then it would likely be part of the Devil King's army. I picked up the dagger and handed it back to Yuki, who gingerly took it and looked at it in confusion. She swisher it around in her hand like a pro and sheathed it in her cloak. The cloak had moved out of the way for me to see what she was wearing underneath… And, I blushed. She had a black sports bra on that concealed her large bust, what looked like camo leggings with armor plates on the knees and an armor belt that held the 2 katanas in holsters on the left side and a holster for the dagger on the right side as well as a large bladed weapon hanging off the back, and combat boots that completed her look. She looked back up at me and cleared her throat and I snapped out of my trance. Damn my hormones…
"Let's start from the beginning. Where are we?" Yuki asked and I led her down the road. This is gonna be a long night…
-Scene Skip; The Next Day; Plains-
Well, I explained everything to her in full detail… And, she did not like being brought back to life as an Oni or the fact that I had to make her my servant to save her. Well, I couldn't reverse it so she begrudgingly accepted her fate. But, I told her she will never have to call me Master. She took joy in that and we agreed to keep each other safe. She also told me that she had fragmented memories of her time here as a servant to the Devil King. Well, I rather not get into the details… But, to say the least… She was basically… A lackey and a sex slave to this Devil King. I never vomited so hard in my life at that moment… And Baldur screaming obscenities wasn't helping in the slightest. After that episode, we went to introduce Yuki to the group and tell them what happened last night. Well, Connor remembers Yuki and Yuki remembers Connor. We all did go to the same school in the past… So, it all worked out in the end. Darkness and Yunyun were wary with working with an Oni but I got them to trust her by assuring them that she is gonna be my servant. Yuki punched me for that and I deserved it… Since I felt nauseous all over again from hearing what the Devil King made her do and I called her my servant. Jesus, I need a break already. Well, anyway… Darkness requested that we help Kazuma's party again and I gritted my teeth at the notion but accepted. I know, but I would literally be in a bad mood if I don't do it. So, now… We are here at the Plains again and we were cleaning up the Frogs and were making quick work of them. It was all going well… Until Aqua decided to use her Holy magic on me for no fucking reason. Well, to be fair… She was aiming for the frog in front of her and I was already fighting it.
"Goddamn it, Aqua! Watch the friendly fire!" I yelled in anger as I turned to face her.
"You got in the way, jerk! Watch where you are going!" Aqua told me and I rolled my eyes as I blasted the frog into cinders.
"This is gonna be a pain in the ass," I muttered and summoned out Baldur's dragon wings to fly to another part of the battlefield, where Yuki and Darkness were hacking and slashing away at some Frogs. I took notice that Yuki's horns grew a little and her skin darkened as she wielded her twin katanas as one of the blades were ignited in flames and the other blade was coated in ice. My watch beeped at that moment, letting me know that I had a notification. I checked it and raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Damn, that sounds powerful. Plus, she might have a stronger form than this since that seems to be her first form. She could've used that last night in our battle and completely outclass me. "Watch this!" I called and was surrounded in a blue aura and Susano'o appeared behind me, activating my Devil Trigger fully and kicking a Frog away. Yuki and I went back to back as more Frogs came towards us.
"Man, this is kinda like battling a bunch of fodder enemies in Dark Souls," Yuki commented and I nodded my head, remembering when Dark Souls came out around the time Yuki, Connor, and I were in the same place. She was the best out of the 3 of us when it came to playing Dark Souls. I was the one who sucked at it and Connor was okay at it. He died less than me in the game and Yuki barely died in the game. I wonder how she would be able to take on the other games since Dark Souls came out.
"You were the best of us when it came to Firm Software games. There has been a lot of them out since you have been gone," I told her and she raised an eyebrow at that, "That reminds me, you are kinda modeled after a character a friend of mine used in one of the recent games, Nioh 2. I'll explain that later." I parried an incoming swing from a Frog and Yuki double slashed it in the stomach, flaying its stomach open and spilling it's Guts out. Yuki rolls out of the way as I flew above them and looked down at the battlefield. Oh, yeah… I should mention that. I learned how to fly in the month we were taking on Quests and training as well as perfect the Ultimate form and take Kaio-Ken up to about 20 times the max limit. If we were talking power scaling… I should be around the level of revived Goku when he fought Frieda. And, add on Baldur's massive power and I should be late Cell Games Teen Gohan level before he went Super Saiyan 2. Yeah, that is a whole different power gap. I know what you are thinking… Why ain't I one shooting the Frogs? Well, one reason and one reason only: I want to make sure I hold back and not level the area I am fighting on. Otherwise, I have no problem killing fodder in one blow.
"Well, this will get tedious if we continue like this. Yuki, on your 6!" I called down to her and she dodged an incoming King Horned Frog that was about to crush her. She puts her katanas away and pulled out the Switchglaive as it was still in what looked like a switchblade mode, with the blade still folded on itself. I think that is called low stance, right?
"Thanks for the call out! I got this! Go help Darkness!" Yuki called to me ad I saluted her before flying over to Darkness and coat my right arm in purple electric Ki as the gauntlet appeared over my arm and hand.
"Darkness, duck down!" I called and reared my arm back, " Arm Crash!" I slammed my fist into the one frog behind her and socked it in the jaw, knocking it back several feet and into several other Frogs that Kazuma, Megumin, and Yunyun were facing.
"Nice punch," Darkness said as I landed beside her, "This looks bad. We need to divert their attention away so that we can at least kill them in one shot." I sighed as I thought of an idea… A dumb idea, but an effective one.
"Run to Kazuma and have him tell Megumin to wait on my signal," I told her and she looked at me, "As much as I dislike her having one spell, it better do a damn good idea on killing a whole group of them in one shot." Darkness nods her head and ran to Kazuma to tell him my idea.
"Baldur, I am gonna do something a bit crazy. Can you spot me?" I said as I clenched my fists.
" ...Just don't kill yourself, kid. I like you too much," Baldur told me and I laughed at that.
"You make it sound like I'm gonna kill myself. Nah, it's just gonna hurt a bit," I said as I flared on my Ultimate form and turned off Devil Trigger, "Now, Kaio-Ken times 3! " On top of the white aura that Ultimate emits, Kaio-Ken's red aura flared over it and I stretched my body out, feeling more powerful. Then, my watch beeped and I checked it out by pulling up the screen.

Whoa! For just doing something so out of the blue, I got a branch Transformation and a new Perk! Insane! Also, it works a little like Goku's Blue Kaio-Ken in Xenoverse 2. The longer I stay in this form, I lose a bit of my health over time. I can go with that… It balances me out in a way. I took off, the ground cracking under the pressure. 3 more horned Frogs appeared and chased after me as I kicked another frog away from Darkness as she stabs one in the gut, its blood spraying all over her. She wiped some off of her face and smirked as a blush appeared on her cheeks. I concentrated on grouping the Frogs together into one spot so that Megumin could blow them all to kingdom come. With the speed boost that Kaio-Ken grants, I will be like a red missile to them, guiding them to their deaths. Eventually, about 90% of all the frogs in the area were grouped in one spot as I hovered over them and looked down at them. I signaled to Darkness and she motioned for Kazuma to give the signal. Then, the sky around me darkened as what appeared to be magic swirled around the frogs in purple lines around them. The rest of the frogs nearby were dead thanks to my team, so all the frogs I gathered up are in the line of fire… And, so was I. They had their attention on me, so I couldn't exactly move out of the way.
"Looks like this might hurt a bit," I muttered as I held my hands down below me at the ground. As Megumin called out her chant, I put up a blue Ki bubble shield around myself and waited for the incoming explosion.
" Explosion! " Megumin's voice screamed through the air and the purple lines ignited and a large scale explosion erupts under me, consuming my bubble shield. To be honest, I was surprised… The explosion wiped out all the frogs and damaged my shield a bit, cracking it in several places. But, it was still intact as I lowered myself to the scorched ground. I deactivated Mystic Kaio-Ken and brushed myself off, looking at the carnage around me. It looked like a large bomb exploded around me. I shook my head as I walked back to the others and noticed that Megumin was face first on the ground and Yunyun was kneeling next to her.
"That was a cool explosion, Megumin. But, I highly doubt the end result is worth just knowing Explosion magic," Megumin said and Megumin raised her head up to look at me.
"Did you like the explosion?" Megumin asked me and I didn't answer her, just staring at her with a pitying look, "What?"
"Was it worth losing all the feeling in your body?" I asked her seriously as I folded my arms, "Because one shot attacks always have that drawback. If you were gonna use an attack like that with a long set up duration, At least shorten the damn chant. It just leaves you wide open for an attack. Besides, your reasoning for just knowing one spell is so childish, I just wanna give up on you." Megumin stared at me and blinked.
"What are you getting at?" Megumin asked plainly and I sighed as I unfolded my arms.
"I'm saying you need to learn better magic spells than a stupid Explosion spell that leaves you immobile for a long period of time. I am surprised you can move your head after using all your magic in one go. I will continue to chastise you until you learn more magic spells," I told her as I turned around, "Yunyun, tell Kazuma to pick up his teammate. We are leaving."
"James, she is my friend. Can't I help her?" Yunyun asked me as I walked away.
"To be honest, if you want to carry baggage like that… Go right ahead," I told her and she looked at Megumin, "If it were different and she can be more useful, than I would be kinder. Hell, if I had known that she would just flop over like a dead fish after she uses her Explosion spell, I would have used Giant Storm to wipe them all out." Yeah, I was kinda done for the day, so I wasn't exactly being nice. I mean, if I had Megumin's mindset or even Aqua's mindset, I would have been eaten 5 times over by a Frog. No thanks. I'd rather be OP with a few side effects than have 1 OP attack that leaves me extremely vulnerable and unable to move.
"Hey, dude. Check it out. One of the horned Frogs dropped something weird…" Connor called as I got back with Darkness, Yuki, and Kazuma. Connor came over to us as he had Aqua hoisted over his shoulder, covered in slime. He had a weird looking diamond that was colored black in his free hand. He hands it to me and I took a closer look at it. Then, the gauntlet's green gem started to glow as the black diamond started to darken.
"The hell?! What's going on?!" I said in shock as I looked at the diamond and then at my gauntlet. Then, the black diamond vanished into thin air and morphed into… A phone? Yeah, a touch screen smartphone. I looked up at Connor and Yuki as they stared at it. Then, the phone turned on and a message displayed on screen.

Now, when you rest up in any type of resting point, you can recover all your HP, MP, and KP and nullify your Ailments, no matter what they are. The Gamer Mind allows you to be able to control your emotions very easily and can stop all types of brainwashing.
Yeah, standard Gamer stuff. Wait, I didn't have this going into this world?! Interesting… Well, Aqua only granted me the watch and powers. So, This is another bonus for me. And, Kazuma can have it as well. Good for him!
"Wow… I don't know what to say," I said to the phone as Megumin and Yunyun came over to us, Megumin being carried by Yunyun fireman style.
"What's going on?" Yunyun asked me and I showed her the phone, "What's that?"

"Awesome!" Kazuma said and Yuki looked it over closely. Oh, right… She was dead when smartphones started having touchscreens. Her parents owned a flip phone for their portable phone.
"Yuki, I will explain how to use them at the end, okay? I know this looks new to you," I said to her and she nods her head to me with a warm smile.
"These are strange devices, all right. Are they from your world?" Darkness asked us and Connor, Kazuma, and I nodded our heads.
"This is all new to me, honestly. But, I will get the hang of it soon enough," Yuki said enthusiastically as she looked at Darkness.
"Okay, whoever you are. How do we use these?" Kazuma asked seriously as he looked his phone over.

We did as instructed and a sack of the same colors as the phones appeared in our free hands. I looked inside of it and saw a bunch of red coins inside.
These are your Gacha Coins. They will be your currency for the Gacha Game you will participate in. To initiate what you call a Pull, insert 2 coins into the top of the phone. There should be a slot at the top. Do you see it?
I looked at the top of the phone and saw a flat hole the same size as the coins at the top.
"Yep. I see it," I said and took out 2 coins, "I'll go first. Kazuma, you go after me. Yuki, you after Kazuma. Connor, you're last. Any objections?" I said and no one disagreed with that. I slowly took a deep breath and entered the 2 coins into the slot at the top. A small chink noise was heard with each coin entering into the top. I flipped the phone over and checked the screen. It changed into what looked like a slot machine with 3 different categories.
All right, Mr. James! This is the Gacha Slot Machine! Each slot is a different category that you can get. The 1st category is the type of Rarity of the item. It shows how rare the item will be. The 2nd category is what type of item you will get. Sometimes you will only need 2 categories to get your item. BUT, on the off chance you do get all categories, the 3rd category will be what type of the item you will receive. What that means is if it is a weapon, the 3rd category will tell you what type of weapon you will get. If it's equipment, then it will choose what type of equipment you will get. "Gotta be equivalent to an LR in Dokkan Battle," I said and he looked at me and realized what I was getting at.
"Or a Gold in Grand Cross!" Kazuma said and nods his head, "I get it! It's gotta be a good pull!"
"Most definitely," I said as the 2nd slot lands on Weapon. Now I'm curious… The last slot lands on Katana. What? A katana? What could be… Oh, I think I know what can come out of this. A sword in a Black holster and black hilt appeared in front of Kazuma and he took it. Connor and I quickly glanced at each other as the description for the blade came up.

"Here goes nothing…" Connor said and the slot machine started. Yunyun gave him a nervous smile, trying to process what was going to happen next. The 1st slot landed on Super Rare, the 2nd slot landed on Transformation, and the last slot landed on Alien. His Ultimatrix beeped suddenly and he and I looked at it at the same time. I didn't know that you could get Transformations from that.
" Now scanning… New species scanned. Chimera Sui Generis scanned," the Ultimatrix said in a voice that sounded similar voice that sounded like Gwen from Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Chimera Sui Generis? Wait, is that Vilgax's species?!
"Connor, that's Vilgax! That's his species name!" I told him in shock and Connor gasped as a silhouette of Vilgax appeared out of the green light of his Ultimatrix dial.
"No freaking way! How did I get a villains DNA from this?! This is insane!" Connor yelled in shock and I rubbed my hands through my hair.
"Okay, talk. I got Ichigo's sword and fit, Yuki got Senzu Beans, Kazuma got Jack's sword, and Connor got DNA of Vilgax in his Ultimatrix! How do you know where to get all this stuff?! Who are you?!" I asked in confusion as I looked at the phone. Aqua chose that time to wake up and looked at the phones in our hands.
"What's going on?" Aqua asked as she points to Kazuma's phone.
"Shh," Yuki told her as she glanced at Aqua.
Well, you won't like the answer. Rather, I wouldn't like the answer. My name is James Edward Scott, without the Naoko. I am the prime James, the 'God', of this realm. Nah, I am really the prime version of you. I reside in a place called Hyperdimension and I look over all the other versions of myself and send them on their way with this ability with their companions and teams.

Hey, he was good friends with the protagonist already. They got Isekai'ed together into that world after getting hit by a truck.

Like, over half of the other me's died in some heroic way, like getting shot after saving an old lady, getting run over by a truck saving a kid, getting people out of a burning building. I had seen only one stupid death… And he is the 3rd strongest iteration of the bunch. You will be the 2nd once you get high enough leveled and learn Super Saiyan God. Because of my status, my father puts up arraigned marriages for me and I couldn't find a good party to join." I looked up at her finally and walked up to her, grabbing her arms and looked at her solemnly. She stopped and blushed as she looked back at me.
"That doesn't matter to me. You are a precious teammate and friend. I would never send you away," I told her kindly as I smiled at her, "Plus… You are kinda growing on me a lot. I'd be a fool to send you away. We will cross those bridges when we get to them, okay?" Darkness blushed heavily and hugs me tightly, squeezing me and making me gasp in shock at her strength. For God's sake, she is getting stronger! She lets me go quickly and I gasped and shook my head as I looked at her.
"S-sorry. Thank you, James… I made the right choice," Darkness said with a blush, "Let us keep traveling together, okay?"
"Of course," I smiled and she bows to me. She reached into her armor and pulls out a gold charm that looked like a Crest and held it out to me.
"This is the Dustiness family Crest. It holds a lot of merit in the kingdom and allows me to have diplomatic immunity," she said and I looked at it fully.

The hologram disappeared and we looked at each other and then everyone looked at me as I stared at the phone. I scratched the back of my head and muttered to myself. There is a grander scheme to things here and I just found out that I am part of a Multiverse of me going around other worlds. So, that happened… I looked back at the others and smiled.
"So, that happened… Well, let's head back to Axel and-" I said and stopped as a high Ki signature appeared behind me and everyone was looking behind me. I spun around and saw a girl with Raven black hair tied in twintails with light tan skin and dark green eyes staring at me. She was wearing a dress that was modeled exactly like Noire's Hyperdimension outfit except the colors were changed to black, red, and green; thigh high socks with camo green and black combat boots underneath, and a silver chain hanging around her neck with a large Crest with the logo of Lastation hanging from the chain. She also had a black Saiyan tail wrapped around her waist and a silver rapier hanging off the left side of her dress in a silver sheath.
"No doubt about it. You look like a younger version of Dad," she said as she looked at my face, "Geez, your power level is kind low. Then again, you are still in the beginning stages of growth in power. So, it's to be expected." Well, I know who her mother is now.
"Is your mother Noire?" I asked her and she nods her head with a smirk, "God, this is way too meta for me…"
"Join the club, umm…" She said as she steps back from me. She was just figuring out what to call me.
"James. Just James is fine," I told her as I looked at her, "What about you?"
"Novella Rose Scott-Naoko, the CPU Squire of Lastation," she said as she placed her hands on her hips, "I am the oldest out of my siblings." My watch beeped and I looked at it and noticed that there was a new stat screen.
"You might wanna check that. Don't get too scared at my power, though…" Geez, and I thought Noire would teach her to curb that cockiness. I checked the screen and almost choked.

Nth metal bullets?! Where did you get Nth metal?! Did you visit the DC Universe beforehand?! And, blood is an element?! Why does she have access to that?! Her stats are disgusting, too! In a good way… I must be doing something right… I looked back up at her and she smiled at me warmly.
"So... How many kids do I have?" I asked her nervously and she giggled cutely.
"From me being the oldest? Well, I'd count… 50," Novella said and I fell back on the ground, "And, that is counting the other moms."
" WHAT?! " I screeched as I sat up and looked at her, " HOW MANY WOMEN DID I GET PREGNANT?! "
"Counting Mom herself, you got 10 women pregnant. Each one has 5 kids," Novella said and I nearly have a panic attack, "Chill out. All the women are your wives and we accepted that." I ran my hands over my face and thought about what to ask next.
"Umm, I am so gonna regret this… Who are my wives?" I asked her and she scratched her cheek.
"Well, you might be a little off put by the choices. There is the primary wife, my mom Noire. The next is Neptune… Then, there is Histoire…" Novella said as she counted on her left hand. What.
"The tome that records all of history within Hyperdimension Neptunia?" I asked in confusion, "How does a tome conceive life?!"
"Quite easily, actually. She had grown human sized after the battle with the Anti Life in our timeline," Novella said and I blinked in confusion, "A lot oft time has passed, Dad… Er, James. Sorry. I will tell you later… Anyway, back on topic. There is… Uzume-Senpai. Then, there is Elisha. Then, there is Pochawhompa. Then, there is Jenny. Then, there is Rei Ryghts. Then, Plutia… Ugh, I still can't believe you tamed Iris Heart. Finally, there is… What's her name again? Oh right… Ashley! She is a recent addition… And has been a good wife. I can't name all the kids since I forgot half of them." I recognized most of the names… But, Jenny? Elisha? For Christ's sake… How does he do it?
"I need to sit down for a second," I said as I plopped my ass on the grass and blinked a few times, processing what I just been told. It was a mindful to say the least… I can barely handle it all. I groaned and laid my back on the grass.
"Are you okay?" Darkness asked me and I looked at her, "Right, stupid question. Sorry…"
"No, it's okay. Thanks anyway," I said as I sat back up, "My life just keeps getting convoluted, that's all. Well, all I can do is keep going and defeat the Devil King and save this realm. But, whose to say my journey ends there? I wanna meet this Prime version of myself and find the answer to my existence, even if I won't like the answer." My friends came to my sides and comforted me.
"Hey, we got your back. No matter what," Connor said as he pats me on the back, "I wonder if there are other versions of me out there."
"There are… They just haven't met Dad yet," Novella said plainly and Connor glanced at her, "Sorry, serious moment. Ahem!"
"Well, we are gonna take this journey together and make sure the Devil King is gonna answer for his crimes," Darkness said as she held my hands.
"Yeah. For we are Team Demon Slayers!" Yuki said as she pumped her fists into the air. The group and myself looked at her and she blushed slightly
"What? It's a good name " Yuki blushed as she looked away.
"Ah, what the hell? I like it," I said as I pat her on the shoulder, "Team Demon Slayers. Which reminds me… I have a new technique to teach you all. Kazuma, you might be able to use this quite well." I stood up and went over to him and nodded my head.
"Well, can it wait? I'm starving… Let's grab some lunch," Kazuma said as he rubbed his stomach. I smiled and nodded my head, patting his shoulder.
"Novella, you can explain everything to us on the way. It would be beneficial for us to team up," I said and she folds her arms.
"I was told by Dad to team up with you anyway. So, this is just conformation," Novella said as she stretched her body out. We headed back to Axel, better and much stronger than we got there. I have a feeling this is just the beginning step of a grander scheme. And, I will be slightly unprepared for it. But… As long as I have my team, we will be okay. Getting Yuki back was a surprise, but finding out about a Multiverse is crazy enough to be believed. I mean, we got Novella. So, that should amount to something. I hope…

-So, that ends the introductory Arc of this story. Now, to explain a lot… First, This Multiverse thing? Planned from the start. This was a good place to establish a grander scale of different versions being watched over by a Prime version of myself in Hyperdimension. Now, question: Is the Prime version of me the Realm Warrior? No… Realm Warrior me is another version of myself that isn't part of the Multiverse. It's confusing to explain, but think of it as the Prime version of myself not being able to peer into the Hyperdimension timeliness since they are a part of the main dimension. However, this story is gonna take place alongside 3 more stories coming in the future: a Shield Hero story, a God Bless Me story, and a Maou Sama Retry story. All will feature the Gamer element in them in some way. Next, Prime version me. Is that me? Well, yes… It is. Actually, it was supposed to be Mulina… But, I decided to make it a Prime version me. What does Prime version mean, exactly? The main timeline me, the one who had gone on his own Gamer journey and had gained access to giving the other versions of myself the Gamer Ability. Now, I referenced Reborn Maybe in the continuity of this… What do I call the Multiverse me? Ah, Jamverse! Yes, Reborn Maybe is part of the Jamverse in a way… Just not directly like this story is. Now, what does being part of the Jamverse mean? Well, mainly that Gamer Ability is given to that world's James and is brought up to speed by Prime Version me. Next, they are supposed to be warned about threats coming to their worlds from the Prime Timeline. However, there is the matter of who the enemy is. It's actually a callback to another story I written a while back but dropped due to lack of motivation, SAA. I called them Gunner Corp. And they are kinda like the main human antagonists from the Doom series, reviving Demons and sending them off to other worlds and universes. And, they are kinda like how Ragyo was endgame Kill LA Kill: All about world conquest. I may be getting that wrong, but I am sticking with it. Next, Novella… Actually, to tell the truth… She was not planned. I was thinking of bringing back Molly Hearts from Long Road Ahead and reference Kitty a bit. But, I decided last minute to choose a daughter of the Prime Version me. I admit, the explanation of me and my harem of wives was a bit messy. But, I couldn't think of another way to explain it, so there you go. Finally, Yuki… So, here's the thing. I have never played a Firm Software game before but I love the concept of the Nioh series. So, I thought… Why not bring in elements from that into Yuki? Besides if I do play a Firm Software game… It would be the Nioh Series or Sekiro. I fucking love Shinobi and Samurai, so that will be right up my alley. And, when I do… Yuki will be my character of choice for the game chosen. So, with that all said, just know that once this story reaches a certain point, another Jamverse story will start after that and I will come back to this one. After that, another Jamverse story and then back to this one. And, the final one will go up and back to this one. That's how I wanna plan this out. SONIK OUT! A/N.-
