A/N: Thanks for the comments
Guest It is only a short story (5 or so chapters) but I should get a new chapter out daily.
Chloe Thanks!
"Hi." Alex said as she entered the Tower.
"Alex?" Kelly asked before hurrying over and hugging her. "Where have you been?"
"Argo." Alex said. "I think I have a way to find her."
"You do? How?" Brainy asked.
"Where's Lena?" Alex questioned looking round, while ignoring Brainy's question.
"I don't know." Kelly said.
"She's been keeping to herself." J'onn said.
"Now isn't the time for walls. I need to get her." Alex said.
"Alex, I'll get her." Kelly said. "You stay here and rest, or at least coffee." She added concerned with how drained Alex was looking.
"I'm fine. Beside Lena is kind of stubborn. I can get through to her. But first, Brainy, here is a map and what is in effect tidal data. Start narrowing down the search area." She said tossing him a data cube.

"Alex? Have you found something?" Lena asked when she opened her front door and saw the former DEO agent on the other side.
"Working on it. You?"
"Working on it." Lena parroted.
"Good. But I need you to work on it with me." Alex said.
"I can't offer you anything." Lena said frustrated. "I mean I don't have access to any of L-Corp, I mean Luthor Corp." Seeing Alex's confused expression she explained. "I quit."
"I didn't know. Sorry or congratulations." Alex said. "But I don't want your gadgets. I want your brain. I think I have a way of doing this, but I need your help."
"You have Brainy."
"Who is a genius but is too constrained by logic. You can think outside the box." Alex said. "Please, I need you. Kara needs you."
"Let me grab my computer." Lena said.

Once everyone had assembled at the Tower Alex started to explain her plan.
"Alura managed to find some of the old data on the Phantom Zone. It had information on the movement of anchor points." Alex explained.
"Anchor points?" Kelly asked.
"Regions in the Phantom Zone that are linked to normal space time. They are the only safe way in and out." Alex said. "Lex sent her to one of them, but we don't know which, yet. But we have a way to narrow that down."
"Only they aren't static. Or maybe it is more accurate to say we aren't static." Brainy took over. "Regardless from our perspective those anchor points keep moving. But thanks to the information Alex got from Argo, we can predict how they will move. So we can go to the location of the anchor point. Only the relativistic effects could be deadly. While, the warping of space time at those anchor points limit the relativistic effects, the warping is still dangerous and that leads us to the big problem."
"Which is?" Nia asked.
"Power. To get back safely will require a lot of power. The more people we send the more power we'll need." Brainy said. "The most we can send is two."
"Wait a minute." Lena said. "Even assuming you create a power source that will remain stable when exposed to extreme fluctuations in gravity and em, how are you going to find Kara in the Phantom Zone?"
"We have a plan, which I am going to test. But while I do that I need you to work on getting us there." Alex said.
"And more importantly back." Kelly added.
"Me?" Lena asked.
"You know more about portals than anyone." Alex reminded her. "Ok, let's get to this." She added with a hopeful spring in her step.

As Kelly entered the lab area three weeks later later she saw Alex throwing a tablet across the room at a wall.
"Alex?" She called concerned.
"Kelly?" Alex asked turning round.
"What's wrong?" Kelly questioned as she walked towards Alex.
"Every time I feel we are getting closer we end up hitting a roadblock and moving backwards. When I got back from Argo I was so sure we were going to get her back within a week. But we are still here no closer."
"That's probably because you haven't slept properly since this happened." Kelly argued. "From the sound of this, the real test will come in the Phantom Zone. To overcome that you need to be top of your game. You aren't going to be that if you don't sleep. So for Kara you need to eat something and get some rest. I can't help like the others can, I can't fly a space ship, I can't manipulate physics to create some fancy gadget, but I can keep you sane. And I am going to do that no matter how hard you fight me. So you may as well accept it and come home and get some rest."
"But-"
"Until Lena and Brainy have completed their parts there is nothing you can do, apart from prepare for the battle you are about to face. And when you get there Kara is going to need you so badly. So please, go home and get some rest."
"Okay." Alex said standing.

"Alex. Good timing." Brainy said when Alex entered the Tower the next morning, looking slightly less tired than when she had left.
"Have you found something?"
"Yes. I have narrowed down the closest anchor point that was used."
"You have?" Alex asked surprised.
"I am a 12th Level intellect. Once you gave me the data it was a trivial problem to solve." He said.
"It took three weeks." Alex pointed out.
"And a lesser intellect would have taken three years." Brainy said not seeing the issue.
"So when can we get there?" Alex asked.
"Getting there isn't the problem." Lena said. "It is getting back."
"I'm going tonight regardless." Alex said. "If you aren't ready I will go through and when you have a solution some one else can come through with it."
"Alex that isn't safe." J'onn said.
"I don't care. Kara can't survive alone. Even if the only thing I can do is provide comfort I will do that."
"Fine, but you aren't going alone. I'll come with you." J'onn said.
"Then how do you all get back?" Kelly asked. "Brainy said you could only get three people back."
"In one go." Brainy said. "We could send the extra person over who would come back with Kara and after the power bank has replenished the other two can come back."
"How long will that take?"
"Hard to say. Could be a day could be weeks." Brainy argued.
"So we have a plan." Alex said ignoring all the issues. Seeing the concerned looks she repeated. "I'm going tonight regardless."
"Fine. But first you need to do something. Come with me." J'onn said.

"Alex, what are you doing here?" Eliza asked when her daughter entered her house.
"I needed to see you."
"What's wrong? Is Kelly okay?"
"She's fine. It's Kara."
"You've found her?"
"Not, not exactly. But we have a way. Maybe." Alex said. "But it will be dangerous."
"To you?" Eliza guessed.
"To everyone that goes."
"Goes?"
"To the Phantom Zone."
"You're going to the Phantom Zone?" Eliza asked.
"It's the only way." Alex said. "J'onn and I are going to get Kara back."
"I know." Eliza said. "But I need you all to come back safely."
"I know." Alex said hugging her.
"Don't worry, I'll look after her. I'll look after both of them." J'onn said from the doorway.

"Alex, I know you are worried about Kara, but it would be safer to wait until we have tested this." Lena said.
"There's no time."
"I can't guarantee this will work. You could be trapped there."
"I understand the risks." Alex said. "And I know you will have done all you can. If you haven't solved it by now you may never solve it. I can't let Kara be trapped there alone. She doesn't do well with isolation."
"If this doesn't wok, I promise you I will keep working on a solution." Lena said.
"I know." Alex said.
"How can you be so sure?" Lena asked.
"Firstly, you are Kara's friend. Secondly you are a good person. Thirdly, if you mastermind Kara's rescue it will really tick Lex off." Alex argued as Kelly entered the lab.
"Have you told her what an insane idea this is?" Kelly asked.
"As you predicted it made no difference." Lena said. "I'll set things up next door and let you say goodbye." She added before leaving the room.
"I have to do this." Alex said to Kelly.
"I know and I understand why you are going. And I know there will be no stopping you. But Alex, I've lost someone before, I'm not ready to do that again. So I need you to promise that you will come back no matter what."
"I'm coming back." Alex said pulling Kelly in for a kiss. "I promise I will not stop trying to get back." She added as she pulled away.
