'Just the two us' 'What are we hiding' 'What we did tonight' ahh don't you love those pretentious titles. Aren't they great? I'm just going to keep using them. On another note, remember that SPICE I told you about? Yeah, I'm finally going to be able to use it. So look forward to that. But remember, it's still going to have a teen rating. So don't expect anything too graphic. Enjoy.

"What is wrong with me?" Tech asked himself while laying in bed. After beating Weather Vane, they returned to the tower, where everything continued as normal. Both Tech and Rev kept to themselves for the most part and ate together. They then left to do their own thing. When night came, Tech didn't know whether to go to sleep or try to stay awake the rest of the night. He was scared of having the same dream. Strangely enough, he didn't know if he was scared of it, because he didn't want to have it again, or because he wanted to. He was scared of not wanting it because he knows that means he will push Rev away, whether he means to. And if he wants to, that means he won't be able to be around Rev, without making it awkward, or making Rev uncomfortable.

Tech let out a single whimper and covered his face with his hands.

This is just great. First I try to act as if nothing is wrong and try to make Rev forget I had that damn dream, and then second, I try to make up for giving him the cold shoulder. Both times, it justs ends up in arguing and shouting. Why did he even care? If he just left me alone then nothing would have happened!

The thought sent a sharp pain into his chest, and his eye shot up, in both pain and disgust. He moved his hands by his sides, and let out a pained sigh. He then just blindly stared up at the ceiling.

No that's not right. It wasn't his fault. By all accounts it's mine. I should have known better than to think he would just let it go. I should just have lied to him, and told him I dreamed of beating Duck with a wrench or something. And maybe going from shouting at him to worrying about annoying him was a bit of a stretch. Why did I even try to make it up to him?! If I just acted like normal and as if nothing had happened, then we wouldn't have gone right back to arguing the moment we were done with our job. Why did he even have to get so mad about that beak thing, couldn't he just have thanked me or at least only asked, instead of making a big deal about it? No, I have to remember, not his fault.

His internal monologuing had let him down an infuriating path, and he let out a small growl and hit the wall by the side of his bed with his fist.

Why does he make me feel this way?! He is one of the few people whose opinion I deem valid, and try to impress. At the same time, he annoys me to no end and makes me angrier with him than I ever could be at anyone else. Even when he teases me, he somehow gets the reaction out of me, which he wants. And when he does screw up, he screws up bad. Yet, I don't seem able to truly blame him for anything he does, even if he does deserve it. So, do I have to decide? Decide whether to act as if he's a child or as if he's my rival? Not that either seems to be relatively good things.

Tech laid and pondered in silence. Would he have to set clear restrictions on how he acts towards Rev, or should he try to be flexible, and accept all the problems that could come with it. While he felt that his head would break open, he knew he had to come up with something. So he decided on a temporary solution.

Rev. I'm just going to act like he's Rev. Like I always have. And if something is going to change, then I just have to adapt when that time comes. After all, I have known him for some time. Is not like he has changed or anything. Neither have I, now that I think about it. Uh, I should just have left with the others. Then none of this would have happened, and Rev and I could just have kept acting like we always have.

It was a thought which surprised Tech. Not that he didn't believe how he could think of it, but how he felt that it would have been for the best. Then he wouldn't have to try and hide from Rev to keep their relationship from becoming worse. On that note, he decided to stop evading the reason he was hiding in his room. He wanted to apologize to Rev. He wanted to keep it simple, and straightforward. He didn't want to hold a speech on how wrong he was. He felt that it was not only beneath him but also Rev. He didn't want to sound too desperate and also not sound like he was forcing himself. Just plain, uncomplicated, and unpretentious.

He had hoped relaxing would have eased his mind, and removed any unwanted emotion that might ruin his apology. Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect, and he was fully invigorated with more feelings and emotions. So he decided to just get it done before he would just end up contemplating the rest of the day.

With that, he moved out of his bed and exited the room. He then went on to nervously walk through the hallways, hoping to find Rev passing through. But strangely enough, there was no sign of the roadrunner. Not even the sound of running steps seemed to be around. Tech tried checking all the rooms he thought Rev might be in. But still, he didn't find him.

But just as he was starting to get worried, Tech could hear the familiar sound of running. He followed the sound to the kitchen, where he finally found Rev. He was hovering over something on the counter. Tech slowly approached and decided to cough to get his attention.

"*Cough* Uhm, hey Rev. I just wanted to say-"

"Oh-hey-Tech-glad-to-see-you-again-even-though-it-has-only-been-an-hour-or-so."

Rev then went over to Tech and quickly hugged him. The little amount air Tech had managed to keep in his system, was pushed, and left him breathless. When Rev let go, Tech used a few seconds to breathe in more air, while Rev stood and patiently waited. Tech thought that he might be excited about something, as he seemed jittery. More than usual.

"*Puff*...Yeah glad to see you too. Look, Rev, I just wanted to say-" He was interrupted again when Rev turned away from him and picked up something from the counter.

"Before-you-continue-I-just-wanted-to-show-you-these!" He held two cans of beer up to Tech's face, who looked curiously at the two canisters

"I've-been-thinking-that-since-we-managed-to-take-down-Weather-Vane-with-only-the-two-of-us-and-now-that-we're-alone-" He handed one of the cans to Tech, who looked down on it to see which brand it came from.

"-we-could-have-a-little-fun-and-party-a-little."

Tech, who couldn't recognize the brand, looked surprised at Rev.

"Got to say, didn't expect you to be the drinking type."

Rev looked at Tech with confusion, which slowly turned to offense.

"What-do-you-mean-by-that?"

"You seem to be more the kid type, so I expected you only drink something more child-friendly." Tech made sure to speak in the clearest and serious voice he could, just to see if he could manage to annoy Rev. He succeeded.

"Oh-is-that-what-you-think-then-tell-me-what-do-you-think-I-drink?"

"Well to name a few, juice, soda...water. Now that I mention it, should I get you something to drink?" He made a self-satisfied smile at Rev, who looked at him like he was about to throw the can at his face. But Rev's face suddenly turned to one of a sly grin. He then opened the can and in under five seconds chugged the whole can. he then dropped it at Tech's feet, who stared at it and then Rev, with a sliver of fear.

"You-were-saying?" Rev asked with a self-congratulating smile.

Tech thought about the apology he had prepared for Rev. He then threw it at the back of his head like throwing paper in a bin, and opened the can of beer in his hand with a smug smile.

"Well then, let us begin."

"All-I'm-saying-is*hic*that-it-is-utterly-unproffesional-and-agianst-common-sense-to-say-that-you-will-deliver-a-pizza-within*hic*thirty-minutes-of-ordering-when-it-already-takes-twenty-minutes-to-make-it-and-then-send-a-delivery-boy-out-and-make-the-order-in-under-ten-minutes-while*hic*he-has-to-deliver-to-the-other-side-of-the-city!"

Tech didn't know how long Rev had been ranting, as he already had problems telling how long it has been since they started drinking. At some point, they decided to go out of the kitchen, and up to the control room. Rev had said that he wanted to make sure they would as ready as possible if something were to happen. But Tech already had to stop Rev from pressing buttons that would have to send a missile off to somewhere, so he was still considering if it would be best if they just went somewhere else in the tower.

"And-then*hic*they-blame-me-when-the-pizza-is-cold-like-the-heat-hadn't-been-blasted-away-by-the-wind-while-I-was-running-to-make-sure-that-I-would-actually-get-paid!"

"I don't think that's how it works." Tech kindly commented, before taking a sip from his can.

"And-what-do-you-know-about-that-university-boy! *Hic* you-try-delivering-a-warm-pizza-when-you-have-to-reach-the-top-of-a-hundred-story-building!"

"Yeah yeah, I get it. Don't get your feathers all stirred up." Tech said with an amused smile. While he knew Rev didn't back down when it came to an argument, he noticed that Rev was acting cruder than usual.

"Now-that-I-think-about-it-what-kind-of-work-have-you-done-execpt-of-course-working-as-a-superhero?"

"Oh, you know-" Tech rubbed the back of his neck, knowing he hadn't exactly struck gold when it came to the job industry.

"Just an odd job here and there, nothing that big really-"

"That-is-so-you!" Rev interrupted. He then started moving closer to Tech, who wasn't anticipating anything good to come out of it.

"Avoiding-the-question-just-to-not-embarrass-yourself." Tech started getting nervous, as that had struck a little too close to home than he would have liked.

"But-I-know. I-remeber*hic*the-first-time-I-saw-you-was-when-I-went-to-a-wrestling-match-and-there-you-were-cleanining-up-the-sweat-that-spilled-over-the-ring-from-the-fighters*hic*I-even-remember-you-used-an-old-red-towel-that-was-more-filthy-than-wet."

Tech started blushing from the memory. He had happily forgotten about it and had accepted that he would never have to bring it up. He even decided to try and deny it.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about! Maybe it was someone else?"

"No! You-don't-get-to-do-that-not-to-me!" Rev started getting aggressive and moved right up to Tech, and intensely stared him in the eyes. Tech felt himself getting smaller as if he was hiding from a storm.

"Do-you-know-why?-Because-I-know-you-Tech-E.-Coyote. I-know-why-you-act-like-you're- some-kind-of-tough-super-genius-when-in-reality-you're-still-the-normal-genius-that-went-to-university-that-just-got-a-confidence-boost-because-you-realized-that-when-unrestricted-you-could-think-of-things-that-no-one-else-could-and-then-make-them-and-when-you're-surrounded-by-people-not-as-smart-you-feel-how-different-you-are-to-them-but-I-know-that-you-don't-feel-better-than-them-because-you're-better-than-that-and-in-the-end-you're-still-a-kind-person-you-are-just-scared-of-getting-used-like-you-were-at-school-and-that's-okay-so-I-know-you-Tech-so-you-don't-get-to-try-and-lie-to-me-like-I'm-som-random-person-you-found-on-the-street!"

An aura of silence fell between the two of them, as Rev stood partially over Tech, breathing heavily with the smell of alcohol.

"...Fine, I lied. I used to clean up a sweat."

"HA! Knew-it!"

Rev then started dancing a victory dance, and Tech couldn't tell if it was the alcohol, or it is something Rev would do of his own will. He also couldn't tell if the alcohol was making him ignore all the things that Rev said, or if it was himself. Either way, he didn't care, he was just happy to ignore it as he felt that if he acknowledged it, it would break him in a way he wasn't comfortable with.

When Rev was done spinning around, he fell into one of the consoles and laid down on it. He then started giggling like a child.

"Well-that-was-more-fun-than-I-thought-it-would-be." He then stopped giggling and just rested on the console, and seemed strangely comfortable. Tech thought it was silly, and couldn't stop himself from smiling. Then suddenly, Tech just stared at Rev with a blank stare. It was like something in him had snapped. He couldn't tell what it was, but he felt enchanted. Especially by Rev., There was something the way Rev laid and relaxed and turned to find a better position, that made it nearly impossible for Tech to think of anything else than him. Slowly he started moving closer to Rev. He thought that it might have been the alcohol, but he knew he hadn't consumed enough for it to have such an intense effect on him.

"Rev, I'm sorry for the way I have acted." Tech didn't know why he wanted to give Rev the apology right then and there. But he was having a hard time concentrating. He felt as if something was pressing itself against him, like an invisible wall. And the wall stood between him and Rev. But he continued walking, even as he felt his bones aching, and his knees getting weaker.

"But I want you to know why I was acting like that." Rev started focusing his attention on Tech and seemed curious about what was happening.

"Out of all the rest of the team, you're always the person I want to be with if the chance comes. I like being close to you because you make me feel confident, and I feel if I were to fall, you would be there to catch me. Even though that is rarely the case. But even when I get hurt because of you, and when you annoy me with your excessive talking, I can't get mad at you. I can get irritated, but I won't blame you. I wasn't angry at you that morning. I was angry at something, I didn't understand. Something that might have to do with me. So I want you to know you're not the problem. Even if you were, then I wouldn't believe you were. And do you know why?"

Tech finally stood before Rev. He felt as if he was inside the wall, the bricks crushing him. But at the same time, he felt as if he was imploding. Something heavy was growing in his chest, and it felt as if it was about to burst. His head was burning, and he was starting to lose his vision.

Rev moved a bit back, but as he did, Tech's knees finally caved under him, and he started falling into Rev. Right before he did, he stopped his fall with his arms, pressing them against the console. He was now right over Rev and looked down on him. Rev was, in turn, looking up with a mix of fear, confusion, and panic. It was like he wanted to run away, but at the same time wanted to know what Tech was going to say.

"Because I like you." As the words came out of Tech's mouth, it was as if he only now realized that he had been talking at all. The crushing wall was now gone, but the thing in his chest was growing more and more, and he felt his heart pumping and his head pounding. He couldn't breathe, and his vision was getting worse. His arms were getting weaker and the little strength still left in his legs was faltering. Tech was scared that he would pass out at any moment. But then Rev started speaking, his breath reaching his nose, but he didn't care.

"You-remember-when-I-told-you-that-if-you-weren't-a-coyote-or-a-guy-that-I-would-kiss-you?"

It was as if Rev's voice had driven him into a trance, as all sensation left his body, and all he could do was stare into Rev's eyes, who stared back at him. The same expression was still there but now seemed like the confused look of someone in a dream that doesn't know how it will end.

"I-lied."

For a moment both of them froze up. Tech got hit by a memory, specifically the one about Rev saying he wouldn't kiss him. After Rev said that, he remembered he for some reason felt disappointed. At the time he didn't know why. It just felt as if something he had been promised was taken away. He forgot about it a short time after, but now the feeling and memory were clear in his mind as if it had just happened. He also remembered what he had answered back.

"Then, do you remember, that I said I was lucky?"

Tech knew the words that were about to come after. He first became angry, then sad, and finally tired. He knew he wanted to say those words, but something tried to hold him back. Some part of him hated what was going on. Something that feared what would happen next. Feared what couldn't be repaired or fixed, if it was broken now. If it was rejected. Even when Rev had already said those exact words, it was still skeptical. It's scared that it was just the alcohol, a moment of poor judgment, or some other mistake. It didn't trust Rev, and it didn't trust Tech. Nonetheless, Rev nodded back as confirmation that he was still conscious, and waiting for Tech to continue. Even his eyes had a glint of desperation in them. Tech kept looking into his eyes. He ignored his face that reflected in Rev's eyes, and just focused on the roadrunner. He knew what he wanted to say. As the words came up through his throat, he could feel them trying to claw their way back. He was scared the words would come out forced. But fortunately, they came out like they were the only thing he could say.

"I lied too."

It became obvious that whatever feelings of desperation that Rev felt, were now replaced with shock. He looked at Tech as if he was lost. Like he wanted him to be his guide, to lead him on to the next step. But Tech was just as lost as him. He had spoken the words but hadn't prepared for what would happen next. Luckily, he didn't need to do anything. For something in Rev made him jump up to Tech, wrap his arms around his neck, and pressed his beak against his mouth. At first, it was only Rev that was kissing, but then Tech started repaying the favor. He couldn't process what was happening, but all he knew was that it felt natural. That it felt right. So he kept doing it. Then the sensations in his mouth started reaching his brain. He hadn't kissed someone in a long time, but it still felt like his first time. As if he only now, truly felt the passion involved. As the movement became more intricate, and the rhythm became faster, Rev started pushing himself closer to Tech. When he wrapped his legs around Tech's waist, was the moment that the coyote started buckling under, and he couldn't hold himself over Rev. While he slowed the fall, he still fell on Rev. But he didn't seem to notice, instead he seemed to be happier to be closer to Tech. And Tech felt the same. He didn't open his eyes, but he could still imagine Rev under him, clinging to him like Tech was about to let go. But Tech didn't want to let go. Even as they started to slowly slide down the console, and onto the floor, Tech held on to Rev.

Tech knew he was tired even if he couldn't feel it. Something about Rev, how his body was pressed against his, soothed him. But the passion of their kissing kept him ignoring everything else. But what felt real, started to feel more like a dream. He could still feel Rev, but it was as if the sensation was drifting away, slowly being carried away by sea. Then, all sensation left his body.

When Tech woke up, he thought he was laying in bed and had just awoken from another dream about Rev. Even though those dreams were nice, he always felt terrified when he woke up. As if Rev somehow had witnessed what he dreamed about, and was ready to scream at him, or just look at him with disgust. He started getting more consciousness, when the pain from the hangover, started entering his brain. But then he felt Rev's chest move up and down, and the sound of breathing reached his ears. He then knew something wasn't right. It was then the loose recollection of memories, that felt more like the work of a dream, started forming in his head. Soon he started to remember that night. And just like with his dream, he felt terrified.

He opened his eyes and realized that he had been sleeping on Rev, and was resting his head on Rev's head who in turn were resting on Tech's shoulder. Even though he was still sleeping, he could tell he was about to wake up. It was also then he felt how warm Rev's body was. He tried moving a bit, but Rev instinctively tried to hold him in place. He also rubbed his head against Tech's cheek. While he couldn't deny it felt nice, he didn't like the idea that Rev might be unaware of what position they were in. So he tried shaking Rev's shoulder, which made him open one eye. He seemed disoriented and opened his second eye. When he noticed Tech's suit, he was at first confused and moved his head back. Tech also moved his head away, to give Rev some space. It took a second, but Rev finally noticed Tech's face right in front of him. His expression was blank, so Tech tried to say something, hoping to get a reaction.

"Good morning...Rev." He gave Rev a nervous smile. He tried to make the situation more casual so that Rev wouldn't freak out. It didn't work.

When Rev started breathing faster, and Tech could hear his heart pumping, and see panic spreading in his eyes, he didn't know what to do at first. He decided to break away from Rev and crawled backward a few meters. But Rev kept getting more panicked. Tech could see he was starting to shake, and it looked like tears were about to form in his eyes.

"Hey hey, relax Rev, it's okay. Relax." He tried to calm Rev down, which seemed to work at first. But then it started getting worse again.

"I-didn't-do-anything-wrong-did-I-did-I-do-something-wrong-please-say-I-didn't-do-anything-wrong!" Rev pleaded, and what was panic, was in fact desperation, as he pressed himself into the console behind him.

"What? No, of course, you didn't do anything wrong. Rev, listen, just relax." Tech tried moving closer, but it seemed to scare Rev. Tech was also starting to get scared. It was the way Rev looked at him like he was scared Tech was about to scream or lunge at him. But all Tech knew, was that he had to calm down Rev.

"Are-you-sure-because-if-I-did-you-can-say-but-I-swear-I-didn't-mean-it!"

"Rev, I assure you, you didn't do anything wrong, you just need-"

"Please don't hate me," Rev said, in a slow tone, while a few tears fell from his eyes. The words sounded hollow but still filled with pain. He could have called Tech many things, dog, animal, monster, but that hurt him more than anything that has ever been said to him. The pain immediately started spreading through him, and he felt as if his stomach was about to turn inwards. But he didn't linger on the pain. Instead, he used it.

He stood up, and started walking over to Rev. When he reached him, Rev recoiled in fear and looked away, and let out a whimper. Tech then sat down on his knees and took Rev's face in his hands, and as a reflex, used his thumbs to wipe away some of the tears.

"Rev, I ask a lot out of you, but this time need you to understand." Rev looked at him, still with fear but now also with confusion.

"You didn't do anything wrong. If anyone did, then it's me. And whatever you think you have done that's bad, trust me when I say, I would have stopped you if it was. So trust me. Do you understand?"

Rev was about to say something, but he was still filled with panic. So Tech took his hand around Rev's beak and stopped him.

"Do you understand?"

Rev then nodded and strangely enough seemed to calm down. Tech let go, and Rev looked at him with a tired look. He couldn't help himself from letting out a sigh of relief. He wasn't used to seeing Rev panicking like that. They both sat in silence, and Tech could see that Rev was going through his memories of the night before. Then suddenly he was struck by shock and turned to Tech.

"We-didn't….do-anything-did-we?!" It took a moment before he realized what Rev was talking about.

"No, don't worry! We didn't." Tech couldn't stop himself from blushing, and he could see that Rev was doing the same. For some reason, the words hurt Tech. He couldn't understand why he felt like that, but it was how he felt.

"Okay-good-to-know."

When Rev stopped blushing, he looked back at Tech.

"What-do-we-do-now?"

The question stunned Tech. It seemed his primary weakness was planning when it came to feelings and the aftermath. He wanted to say something, but each time he stopped himself, as he knew it would come out as constant stuttering. He opted to look around, hoping to find anything that could help him, even if it was a distant hope.

"Yeah-me-too," Rev said, with a nervous laugh.

They kept sitting in silence. Tech felt as if he needed to say something, but he couldn't think of anything. He knew Rev had problems with the whole situation, and so did he. They needed to think of something, or else things might become worse.

"Do-you-want-to-watch-a-movie-later-tonight?" At first, Tech didn't believe he had heard right. He was getting worried that his emotional turmoil was starting to make him delusional.

"Uhm...what?"

"Not-like-last-time-I-mean-as-in...going-to-a-movie-theater."

Tech was flabbergasted and was convinced he was delusional. But he knew better and realized that only Rev would ask him out after nearly having a nervous breakdown.

"Like a date?" He cautiously asked with a raised eyebrow.

Rev started to laugh again, but Tech could hear how pained it was.

"Heh-heh-you-can-call-it-whatever-you-like...will-you-do-it-though?"

Tech smiled. Usually, when it came to Rev and the feelings he was starting to associate with him, it could be described as mostly pain. But now, he felt something else. Confidence. As if everything was working out as he wanted it to. He didn't believe it at first, but he couldn't help himself from smiling, and then teasingly answer with;

"Yes, I would like to go out on a date with you Rev." The answer was a bit more than what Rev could handle, as he fiercely blushed, and sweat started dripping from his feathers. His nervous laughter continued and became louder, and Tech was worried he might have broken him. But Rev then stood up and quickly walked towards the door.

"G-great! Then-I-will-see-you-by-the-hangar-if-it's-okay-with-you-okay-great-see-you."

Right before he walked away, Tech reached out to him.

"Hey wait!" Rev stopped up with a worried sigh.

"Are you okay?"

Rev turned to Tech, and looked surprised, before answering.

"Yeah-pretty-okay-just-need-to...think-for-a-while...but-I-will-be-ready-for-tonight!"

Tech couldn't stop himself from looking troubled. He knew that it was far from okay and that they needed to talk about it sooner rather than later. But he also knew that they both needed time to evaluate what was happening between them. He wasn't comfortable with taking a giant leap of faith. So he did the only thing he could do.

"Okay, see you later."

Another chapter! Well, this is just going fluidly. I hope the SPICE wasn't too much. But maybe I just worry too much. In the end, it's for you to decide. Thank you for caring about this little story out of seven hundred others, I appreciate it. I might need to update that sentence after a few years though. See you later!
