"Lou?"
"Yes?"
"Kiss me." I whisper.
"Are you sure?"
"Kiss me." I repeat staring into her eyes.
She slowly leans over and gently holds my face between her hands. We look at each other's eyes and I slowly run my finger across her cheek. I feel butterflies and my heartbeat is thumping in my ears. She smiles tenderly and finally kisses me.
Her lips are soft and gentle against mine, her breath tastes like mint and alcohol, we kiss softly for a few minutes, until she caresses my cheek and slowly leans away.
I stare at her, once again, speechless.
She looks at me with a smile on her face.
"Come on, let's go." She whispers.
"Where are we going?" I ask "We shouldn't be driving."
"We won't drive."
She takes my hand, we walk to a sofa and we sit there.
"So, Y/N, are you from New York?" she asks.
"I've been living here for a few years… I think it's been about four." I babble "You're definitely not from here."
"I'm not." She laughs.
"It's not that hard to tell." I say mimicking her accent and snort.
"Oh, shut up." She says laughing.
We ask each other stuff you usually ask each other on a first date, our hobbies, our favorite music, and things of that sort, until we finally fall asleep on the couch.
I wake up to the sound of Lou's and another woman's voice, it seems like they're arguing, so I keep my eyes shut and pretend to be asleep. My head hurts a little bit.
"I looked for you everywhere and you weren't answering your damn phone!" The woman says, frustrated.
"Well, I was busy." Lou replies.
"I… Oh god, why did you have to tell her?" She sounds mad.
"I trust her." Lou mutters "She seems different."
"You've just met her!" She scoffs "For all I know, she could run with this information to anyone."
"She won't!" Lou insists "And keep it down… You're gonna wake her up."
"Oh my god…" She grunts "I don't care." She whispers impatiently.
Lou exhales, exasperated.
They keep arguing in a lower tone, so I don't really hear anything anymore.
I wait a while until I open my eyes and, when I do, I see Lou and a tall, beautiful woman with long dark hair standing next to her. They're gesturing, until the brunette suddenly turns around and looks directly at me.
"Good morning." She says coldly, staring at me.
"Hi…" I mutter sleepily as I sit upright "Good morning."
I'm confused. Who is she? She looks at me up and down with a frown and I look at her right in the eyes for what feels like a long, long time.
I can only imagine how stupid and confused I look.
Is she Lou's friend, girlfriend or something of that kind?
"I'll get going if you want me to… I'm sorry." I say as I get up and start to clumsily put on my shoes, I feel really uncomfortable.
"No, please, stay." Lou says softly "Y/N, this is Debbie, my partner."
What the hell does she mean with "My partner"? I stand there confused for a minute, until my brain clicks. Wait… Is this the close friend she committed the heist with?
"Hi… Nice to meet you." I say softly, as I shake her hand, trying to hide my discomfort.
"She seems lovely." she mutters sarcastically, looking at Lou "Exactly how much do you know?" She asks me, looking me dead in the eye.
"Well…" I begin to say, but Lou interrupts me.
"She knows everything." She looks annoyed.
"Everything?" Debbie asks, as she inhales and massages her temples.
"Everything." She repeats with a derisive smile. Debbie exhales annoyed.
I just stand there, silent and confused.
"How do I know that you're not gonna tell anyone?" she asks as she tucks my hair behind my ear with a not-so-patient smile.
"I won't." I say staring at her, apparently, now I need her to trust me, so I try to talk as clearly, calmly and sincerely as possible "I honestly think that what you guys did is truly amazing. The way you got everything right to the smallest detail… I swear that I won't tell anyone, you can trust me, for real."
She smiles at me, and this time she seems a little less cold.
"I like her already." Debbie tells Lou.
"I told you that you were going to like her." She says with a smile.
"Well, now that I've talked to you, I gotta keep going." Debbie says as she picks up her coat "I hope I see you tonight." She tells me with a smile, before walking away and closing the door behind her.
"Tonight?" I ask confused as I plop down on the couch "Wait… What just happened?"
"You've just met Debbie." She laughs as she sits beside me.
"She's a little intimidating." I mutter.
I look at Lou, she shrugs with a huge smile on her face.
"Did you sleep alright?" She asks, changing the subject.
"I did." I reply with a smile as I remember everything that happened the night before. That kiss… I'd love to kiss her again. "Did you?"
"Yes." She mutters and caresses my cheek, I close my eyes and rest my face on her hand. We sit there like that for a while.
"I had a great time last night." I say as I look at her beautiful blue eyes.
"Me too." She replies smiling.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yes." she pauses "So… When am I taking you out for dinner?"
"Oh… Because of the bet?" I ask "You really don't have to."
"But I want to." She insists with that breathtaking smile.
"Well…Today's Sunday, So…" I pause "I'm free tonight and tomorrow." I say and wink playfully.
"Tomorrow, then, because tonight I'm taking you somewhere else."
"What?" I blink confused "Where?"
"You'll see."
"Just tell me."
"No…" She says with a flirty voice.
We stare at each other, I can feel my heart beating like a drum, she looks at my lips and then back at my eyes. She leans close to me, our faces a less than an inch away, she's so close that I feel electricity dancing in the small space between us.
"Tell me when to stop…" She mutters, her voice a little raspy as she gets closer.
"Don't… Please, don't…" I mutter and I finally kiss her.
At first, we kiss slowly and gently, but when I pull her closer to me, we start kissing like crazy. Her tongue slips inside my mouth, gentle but demanding, our hands are in each other's hair, and I can swear on my life that I've never felt this way before.
Her lips are warm and taste sweet, her perfume is intoxicating and as I feel her soft lips against mine, I realize that I might never have enough of this… of her. The world around disappears and there's just us.
I softly bite her bottom lip and she smiles and leans away, my body aches when she does. We're both out of breath and smiling at each other.
"Let's go…" She says as she stands up, holds my hand and helps me get up.
"Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you out to have breakfast." She replies with a warm smile.
We walk for a few blocks until we get to a small diner, we walk in and sit at a table that's near a window. We look at the menu, we both order pancakes and coffee.
"So… where are we going tonight?" I ask as I take a sip of my coffee.
"We're going to my place. You're meeting the rest of my friends." She says as she takes a bite of her pancakes. I almost spit the coffee when she says that.
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, if you want to." She says nonchalantly as she takes another bite.
I get nervous and excited at the same time.
"Sure, I'd love to."
