Hermione immediately took charge. "Ok, for him to wake up, we need his book-self to wake up. And that means we have to keep reading till he does."

The others nodded grimly.

"Here, I'll read it," said Hermione, eagerly taking the book.

Chapter Two

The Vanishing Glass

"Wait, aren't vanishing spells in the fifth year? How did he learn Vanishing spells?" Benjy asked in surprise.

Harry smiled. "You'll see."

Nearly ten years had passed since the Dursleys had woken up to find their nephew on the front step, but Privet Drive had hardly changed at all.

"Ten years! How could you live in that place for ten years?" Sirius asked, staring at Harry.

The sun rose on the same tidy front gardens and lit up the brass number four on the Dursleys' front door; it crept into their living room, which was almost exactly the same as it had been on the night when Mr Dursley had seen that fateful news report about the owls. Only the photographs on the mantelpiece really showed how much time had passed. Ten years ago, there had been lots of pictures of what looked like a large pink beach ball wearing different-coloured bonnets —

Snorts of laughter interrupted Hermione. "Beach balls? Did they just compare that kid to beach balls?" The twins asked, laughing.

but Dudley Dursley was no longer a baby, and now the photographs showed a large blond boy riding his first bicycle, on a carousel at the fair, playing a computer game with his father, being hugged and kissed by his mother. The room held no sign at all that another boy lived in the house, too.

"Maybe Padfoot and I came and took him away?" Remus asked hopefully.

Yet Harry Potter was still there, asleep at the moment, but not for long.

"Or maybe not." He sighed.

His Aunt Petunia was awake and it was her shrill voice that made the first noise of the day. "Up! Get up! Now!"

Lily giggled as she said, "I pity you. Her voice is worse than what mermaids sound above water!"

Harry woke with a start.

Harry woke with a start too. "Wuzzgoinon?" He said, his eyesight blurring as he struggled to focus.

Hermione sighed as she replied, "Nothing is going on except the fact that you are being affected by the books, so you fell asleep. And I still think that this is the worst idea ever"

Harry immediately turned to her, "How can you say that? This is a great idea, we can save so many innocent people that gave up their lives for this bloody war. You know as well as I do, who were murdered."

Hermione flared up too. "Yes, but you know as well as I do that your life is not a bed of roses. They're not going to be full of fun and joy, there is going to be torture. I am just saying, why make these books when we can tell them what happened? I don't want to see you hurt!"

By this time they were both standing up, determined to make the other see sense.

Harry scoffed. "And what? Risk letting important details slip? Hermione, I hate this as much as you do, but you are not going to stop me with this. I want to protect people, and do you think that this is fun for me? Reading my private thoughts out like that?"

Hermione glared at him, but couldn't argue with his argument. She flicked his arm. "Why do you have to have such good arguments? Why can't you just lose a fight for once?" She grumbled.

Ginny laughed. "Because he is ' Harry Freaking Potter'".

They were interrupted by a small clearing of the throat by Euphemia. The other people in the room were quite fascinated by their argument. You would not know who would win.

Harry turned to them and smiled. "Sorry about that. But it is getting quite late, so what do you say we have dinner and go to bed?" Ron jumped up before the words were even out of his mouth. "Yes, I thought you would never ask. I am famished." Hermione scoffed. "You are always hungry Ron. There is nothing new about that."

"Oh, for Merlin's sake, stop arguing!" Harry said, somehow managing to sound exasperated as well as fond at the same time.

Harry took out his wand and a circular table appeared in front of them, filled with food. "Well, let's have dinner."

Everyone filled their plates to the full, but they mingled a little bit this time. For example, Harry and Ginny went to talk with Lily, James, Sirius, Remus, Euphemia, Fleamont, and of course, little Harry. Ron went to his parents, who were already with little Ron and Ginny, and the twins. Hermione went and sat with Remus, Benjy, Caradoc, Edgar and little Hermione. Luna went with Neville to accompany him with meeting his parents, who were already with little Neville, Marlene and Dorcas. Little Luna went to Dumbledore and McGonagall and started talking to them.

Different people were talking about different topics. For example, Harry's group were talking about the consequences of the books.

"-I suppose lots of people must have lost their lives if you wanted to do this-"

Dumbledore's group were talking about Harry,

"- a boy, Albus, you can't just leave him on the doorstep-"

Alice's group were talking about Harry.

"-I feel so bad, it must have been horrible for him to grow up without parents-"

Neville gave a sad smile and said, "Yeah."

Hermione's group were talking about, you guessed it, academics.

"- I do think that spell is quite inappropriate to that age-"

Ron's group were talking about himself and his family.

"-Seven children! However, do we manage? I say-"

All in all, for the futures it was quite a treat, because, they were getting to talk and look at people they thought that they would never see again. It was a wonderful time for them, but alas, it had to come to an end.

Dumbledore cleared his throat to gain everyone's attention. "I had a wonderful time reading this with all of you, but I do believe that we need rest? We shall continue tomorrow morning." This suggestion was met with a big relief because they were all starting to get tired. "We'll all sleep in the Gryffindor common room, it has more than enough space for us," Harry suggested.

They all slowly trudged up to Griffindor tower, the older people smiling and remembering their time here. Lily and the girls were going to sleep in the girl's dormitories, whereas the marauders and the others decided to sleep in the boy's dormitories. Harry laughed as he watched the friendly bickering between his mother and father. "That's all very nice dad, but we are going to sleep somewhere separate, a bit farther away," Harry said, his face darkening.

The twins laughed. "Why?"

Harry looked them straight in the eye and said, "Nightmares. Horrible, gut-wrenching, blood-curling nightmares. You will not be able to sleep with our screams."

To say the others were shocked was an understatement. Lily was the first to speak, "Harry, now that you are in a different time frame and you are with us, I doubt that you will get nightmares. Sleep here, no need to go somewhere else."

Harry tried to Protest, but he was overruled. He sighed and exchanged glances with the other futures. He smiled at his mother and agreed. "But at least, let us sleep near each other, so we can run to the other when the screams come." Luna walked up to Harry and put her hand on his shoulder. "Come, Harry, we are all exhausted today. We will go to bed in the other dormitory." So it was settled. The future six went into a room that suddenly appeared after Harry said something under his breath. They all changed into pyjamas and went under the covers.

And so, night fell. The castle was entirely silent. Everyone was asleep, and Suddenly, there was a blood curling scream. It was full of sadness, pain and anger. The people awoke quickly and went to the bedroom of the futures.

It was Luna.

She was writhing in the bed, screaming her heart out, when the other futures approached her. They crowded around her. Neville sat beside her, pulling her head onto his lap. Harry sat on one side and Ginny sat on the other side of her, holding her hands. Ron and Hermione sat at the foot of her bed. They were all telling her not to worry, that it had passed.

Slowly, the screams dissipated and went in to heartbreaking sobs. The people outside the room were still.

Little Luna was scared. What happened to her? Molly was horrified. Lily had her hands clapped to her mouth. James's eyes were wide. No, this was not normal. They were seventeen-year-old kids! Their biggest problem should be passing newts, not nightmares! A tear slipped past Alice's cheek.

But what broke their hearts the most, was the futures acted like this was normal. As if they practised it, they stood her up on her feet and took her to the common room, where they settled down on the sofa. Luna looked at the others and said, "I am sorry for waking you up. The nightmare was a bit bad. You might want to go back to sleep, we have to read tomorrow, I'll be fine. I have my friends with me." She answered every question of theirs before it was even asked. So, taking her word, they all slowly went back to bed.

Luna turned back to her friends, smiling. Ron rubbed her shoulder sympathetically. "Bad one?" He asked, sighing. Luna smiled and nodded. "If you don't mind we can all stay here for some time. I don't want to go back. It was too horrifying."

What Lily Potter saw when she came down the stairs the next day immediately made her go 'aaw'

The futures were all asleep on the sofa. Ginny's head was on Harry's lap, whose head was on Luna's shoulder, who had Neville's head across her lap. Hermione and Ron were on the floor, their hands and heads touching.

She decided not to wake them up. But, of course, took a picture for memories.

It was the twins who woke them up. It was a Fred and George way. They enchanted the sofa to suddenly yell out "Wake up!" Needless to say, they woke up immediately, and now the twins are cursed because of the very good instincts

They got dressed up and quickly went down to breakfast.

"I'll read next." Ginny proposed.
