Mom holds me closely and pats my back while tears are running down my face. We sit outside our house, it is almost completely dark outside. A couple of hours ago I saw my best friend turn into a wolf, I saw her pain and agony. Why did this happen? I hear dad coming out, he strokes my back.

"Why is this happening?" I ask even though I know why. It's in our genes.

"It's nature's way." Dad sighs. I wipe away my tears and ask him what he means.

"We didn't want to tell you, we didn't want you to worry" Dad starts.

"Worry about what?"

"There has been an increase in vampire activity lately. More vampires coming trying to cross the area than in a long time." He answers. I ask why.

"We don't know why. I spoke to Jacob about it and apparently there are some things going on in the vampire world, vamps on the run.". We sat quiet.

"Do you think it will happen to me as well?" I ask. Mom and dad sigh. Dad is the one to answer. He strokes my cheek.

"I dont know". I burst into tears again.

The following days are hard. I want to see Em. I want to know how she is doing. But I wasn't allowed to. It was another rule, newly phased wolves were to be isolated until they calmed down. This must be so hard for her, but I knew that she wasn't alone. Her brother and Aaron are with her. Aaron would never leave her. But today it is Friday and it means one thing, bonfire, and not just any bonfire, Alexander told me that Em was coming by tonight. I wait impatiently until the sun is setting. Mom calls me down to help her with the food, she is not joining us tonight, she is staying home with my sister who is too young for any of this, but mom still wanted to contribute. I look at all the food she is wrapping up, it is a lot. Dad carries it to our car and we say goodbye to mom and Aiyana.

Embry and Calian meet us when we arrived at the beach. Calian hugs me tightly and looks worried.

"Are you okey?" He asks. I shrug and look around.

"Emmeline isnt here yet". Werewolves and their smell senses. We go closer to the fire and greets everyone.

"Josephine, could you help me slice the bread please?" Emily calls. I go to her and help her, thankful for the distraction. My legs feel weak and I feel sick to my stomach. I grab a knife. I am nervous, I dont know what to expect. Will she be the same? I was so deep in thoughts I didn't realize that the knife had slid through the bread and onto the palm of my hand.

"Ouch" I say but regret it a second later when I saw how everyone's heads turned toward me.

"Josephine!" Emily comes over to me.

"It's nothing" I say and try to pull my hand away. Theo catches it and looks at me sternly. I feel embarrassed. Luckily it wasn't deep so we just wrap it up.

Now I am sitting in between Theo and Alexander while we listen to the legends. I love listening to the legends, sitting there in the dark with the fire and feeling the magic in our lives is powerful. I look at Alexander, he looks serious. I could only imagine the weight on his shoulders, protecting the tribe and being responsible for the pack and all its members. The stories were finishing up and I had almost forgotten about Emmeline when suddenly everyone turn to the forest where she and Aaron are walking from hands in hands. I gasp She looks different. She looks stronger. But her smile is the same and I am surprised when I realize she looks happy. I stand up, Alexander puts his hand on my shoulder and gives me a look. I shrug it off and walk towards her. We stand still facing each other but before I even could blink she is running towards me. I can see the guys moving up as if they are preparing for something to happen. It annoys me. Emmeline would never hurt me. We hug each other and although her arms are so strong that I can barely breathe I am so happy to have my best friend back into my life.

Em and I are sitting on two logs a little further away from everyone else with burgers in our hands. She talks me through everything that have happened. Aaron and Calian stands a couple of feet away, I know that there are listening to every word and watching our every movement,

"It felt so weird walking on four legs, or I guess paws, you can't imagine" Em giggles. She seems to accept this quite well.

"I haven't been on patrol yet, Alex wants Benjamin and I to take it easy in the beginning"

"Wait, Benjamin turned as well?"

"Yep, the day after me" She answers lightly. Now all of my friends have turned, it was almost impossible to wrap my head around. I look to the fire where everyone else is sitting, I hadn't even noticed that Benjamin wasn't here.

"Emmeline. It's time to go home." Alexander was walking up to us.

"What? Why?" Emmeline stands up and looks annoyed.

"We are not pushing it. Benjamin wasn't even allowed to come." Alex answers. Aaron faces Alex.

"Come on man, she is doing great. She needs this."

"Alex please!" Em says. She starts to breath heavy,

"I said it's time for you to go home" Alex replies with strength in his voice. I expected Em to clap back, she doesn't respond very well to people telling her what to do. Imagine my surprise when she stands down. Aaron wraps his arms round her and kisses her forehead. We say goodbye.

After Emmeline, Aaron , Jared and Kim had left I am sitting in between Jalen and Kasa, we are sharing a bag of candy. Well, sharing is not the right word. I got whatever is left. Werewolf appetite. Suddenly Kasa gasps.

"What is he doing here? He is not supposed to be here." I turn to where she is looking and I see Benjamin and Aiden coming out of the woods. Aiden put his hands up in the air

"Sorry guys but we are starving, we are done with our laps".

"Aiden…" Alexander starts

"Take it chill. Benjamin will behave, right?" Aiden answers and ruffles Benjamin's hair. Benjamin remaines quiet.

They go to Emily who puts some food on their plates. Everyone continues with what they were doing. Jalen takes the opportunity to grab the bag of candy out of Kasas hands. Benjamin and Aiden plops down on the logs on the other side of the fire. Aiden is forcing food down his throat like he have never seen food before. After a while I stand up to get a soda. When I am returning to the fire I hesitate. Although Benjamin wasn't a close friend of mine I still feel bad for him. He sits slouched on the log and isn't talking to anyone. I sit down closer to him than I had before. Aiden follows me with his eyes and looks at Benjamin carefully. Benjamin doesn't move an inch. Aiden seems to relax and turns to his sausage. We sit quiet until I voice up

"Are you okay? I mean, this must be a lot" Benjamin looks up and I hold my breath. His eyes widens and he breaths heavily, his eyes are fully locked on me and he starts to shake.

"Shit! Get Josephine away from him!" Suddenly warm arms are lifting me up and Jalen puts me behind him. I peek around him and see Aiden and Alex struggle with dragging him off the beach. Calian jumps at him

"Did you just fucking imprint on my cousin?" I gasp, did he say imprint?. Benjamin Ateara just imprinted on me.
