Chapter 2, The Kill For Rights
As I made my way up the path, I received looks from multiple caretakers of the gardens on the grounds, some of them running up the path, towards the lord's house, most likely to inform the lord of my arrival. I did not attempt to stop these people, for they were simply trying to make a living. Eventually, one of the caretakers reached the front door of the home and informed the two guards on duty, pointing down the path at me. The guards drew their swords, advancing towards me. Not intending on harming these folk, I lifted two of my fingers and two of the stones from the path levitated into the air. I'd lower my fingers toward the guards, sending the two stones at the guards, hitting them in the head and knocking them out. I did the same with these two as I did with the previous two, lowering them safely onto the ground with some small plateaus. After doing so, I made my way up to the front door. I attempted to open the door, grabbing the handle and pulling on it, but it appeared that there were, based on shuffling sounds that I heard inside, about 3 more guards. I took 5 steps back from the door, raising my entire forearm up, lifting a nearby boulder, used for decoration purposes, and pointed a finger at the door, sending the boulder flying towards the door, smashing it. As I stepped through the doorway, I was greeted by the sword of a guard, which was deflected off of my armor. I turned my head to this opponent, surprised to find that it was a woman that had landed a hit. However, I was not surprised at the gender of the, but rather the fact that the lord had even allowed a woman within their ranks. Instead of knocking her out immediately, I bowed my head. As her face changed to an expression of surprise, I raised my hand, a stone flying into the back of her helmet, knocking her unconscious. After doing so, I turned to the stairway nearby, which was blocked by the other two guards. As I began moving towards them, they yelled, "Stand down and drop your weapons!" When I showed no signs of complying, one of them advanced on me, swinging at me. I grabbed the man's hand, stopping this attack and grabbed the handle of his blade, throwing it aside. I then threw the man aside, into a wall, and left him there, his wrist sprained from the movement. The other guard then dropped his sword and then dropped to his knees, stating, "Please, armored one, do not kill me, please, I beg you!" I looked at this man and sighed. I spoke, "Look around, are any of your friends dead?" The man looked around and, to his surprise, found that they were all unconscious. I continued, "If you're smart, you'll leave." The man immediately ran out the front door. I then made my way upstairs and reached the second story. I stood at one end of a hallway and, on the other end, 2 guards stood in front of a door, armed with both swords and shields. I walked towards them and they began advancing on me. Once within range, the first guard swung at me, missing as I just managed to side step. I then rammed my right gauntlet (an armored/metal glove) into his helmet, knocking him into the wall and giving him a concussion. As I turned, the other guard ran at me and, to my surprise, just ran down the stairs, dropping his weapons on the way. Shrugging, I turned to the lord's office, grabbing the handle of my sword and drew it out of the sheath on my back. I then kicked down the door, entering the room and finding a 5'4 man with a dagger in his hand. The man was somewhat plump and has obviously never taken combat lessons. The man held the dagger with both hands, pointing it at me, and declared, "I am Lord Asvalt of Marura, and I command you to stand down!" I stood before this man, a foot taller than him, and looked down at him, stating, "And what makes you, a man as pathetic as his droppings, think that he may command the man before him, armed with a sword, armor, and "magic"? The lord thought for a moment, then stated, "Erm, my title?" I then smacked Asvalt's dagger aside and grabbed him by the collar of his robes. I dragged him outside as he yelled and yapped. Eventually, we made it to the front gate, where the first two guards that I had knocked had woken up and stood there in awe. Asvalt yelled at them, "Help me you rat brained idiots!" The guards frowned at these words and stood there, watching. As the "lord" yelled, people gathered outside the gates. I then threw Asvalt into the streets and declared, "Citizens of Marura, I have brought before you, Asvalt, the now former lord of Marura." People started talking and whispering, "Former lord?", "What does he mean?", "Eh?". I then continued on, "I am Nomos Daesulus, son of Ortos, the Cadrefis god of law, judgement, light, and the earth. I came here to dethrone what I was told was a tyrant and a monster. However, monsters and tyrants are strong, even on their own. Yet this man is nothing but weak and pathetic. I will leave this town and leave matters to you. But before I do leave, I give you not an order, but suggested advice. I ask that you elect a new lord, one who is fond of fairness and equality. With these words, I bid you farewell and I wish you luck." I then made my way towards the town gates, leaving to the sound of people taking their rage out upon Asvalt.
Author's Note: Hello everybody. Starting today, May 21st 2021, I will be taking a break for a few days in order to develop new characters, locations, gods, etc. And now for my announcement! Starting today, I will be taking in character creation requests. What this means is that everyone who reads this story will have a chance to have their own custom character created. All I require to do so is for you to post the character's name, backstory, and abilities, along with any other info you want to include, and I will gladly make the character for you. And, to make sure people know that you created them, I will place a author's note at the end of the chapter for every character, made by you, included in it. Good luck!
