Letting everyone down would be my greatest unhappiness

AN: TRIGGER WARNING. There is a very brief scene right under here of s*xual assulat. So that bothers you please just skip right on down. But if you don't want to read this chapter just skip altogether. Please do not make yourself uncomfortable for the sake of a story. Take care of yourselves.

"Malcolm, don't you want to do this… please…" She squirmed under Malcolm as he undid her shirt exposing her to the cold night air. She prayed to anyone, her father, grandfather, uncle, to come to get them.

" Don't you worry sweetie, we are gonna have lots of fun before we get to Mexico. Did you get married at 14? You and I are gonna have a lot of fun down there.'' Malcolm gave her a rough kiss on the lips. She tried kicking in the crotch but held her firm.

"My dad is gonna kill you. He will send you back to Hell make sure you will never come back!'' Malcolm chuckled darkly as he let her go, looking over her exposed body.

"Yeah, we'll see about that.'' He said slowly undoing his pants

Jade woke up with a start. Her breathing heavy, she grabbed her phone squinting away from the bright blue light. Two in the morning. It had been six whole weeks since "the incident'' as she called it. Sitting up in bed, she opened up to Instagram and looked at the last post she had made, a post that was made the day after the attack. A simple of her tea set painted with cherry blossoms on it. The post simply read,

I can hear the bells! Taking a break from my socials to help with wedding plans! Hope to see you all soon!

Part of it was true, upcoming nuptials of her father, and Chole Decker, the other part of it was Malcolm. Oh sure he paid for what he did to her, Father had made sure of that. Since she was taking time off from her social media she had been getting countless messages and comments from strangers wishing her well. Jade knew that they meant well, but it all felt so empty. Throwing down her phone on the bed, she grabbed her remote and turned on the TV. A rerun episode of Dexter's Laboratory was on. Sighing Jade slowly opened her down as not to wake up Trixie or her parents. Coffee always helped after a dream like that. Going into the kitchen she opened the fridge and got out the pitcher, After pouring a cup for herself she went back to her room when she saw a small figure on her bed.

"Trixie?! What the… why are you in here?'' Jade whispered. Her future step-sister turned around, she had a sly smile on her face. Her hair looked like a rat's nest.

"Jade you know Mom said that TV isn't allowed after nine.'' Jade set her coffee on her nightstand giving her sister a light smack on the shoulder. Turning off the TV she sat on the bed covering herself with her blankets.

"I know Trix… I just had a bad dream. I think the big question is, what are you doing in my room watching TV.'' She slinked an arm around her sister and poked her on the nose. It was weird, even though Jade and Trixie were about six years apart and didn't know each other from Adam they acted as though they were blood sisters. They knew each other well enough and acted like peanut butter and jelly.

"I heard wolves outside. I got scared.'' Taking a sip of her coffee she sat down next to her sister. Looking through one of the windows in her room, she heard the distant howls of the wolves.

"Those are just Cú love, big hound dogs. Mama said they used to guard the castles, They're gentle creatures if you leave them alone.'' Trixie nodded curling up against her sister.

"Why are you up?'' Trixie asked as they both stared at the TV. The light illuminated the room giving it a soft glow, easing off the growing darkness. There were no stars or moon out that night, the clouds. Jade didn't say anything. They both knew the answer to that question. The two cuddled together under the mass of blankets, watching TV. They soon fell asleep to the reruns of old cartoons.

The sound of a creaking door made Jade open her eyes. Feeling a small lump on her bed, she realized that Trixie fell asleep in her bed. Through her sleep-filled eyes, she saw Chole peeking in the door with a cup of coffee.

"Good morning Jade! You excited for the first day of school?'' Jade rubbed the sleep away from her eyes. Reaching over her sister she grabbed her phone, it was 5:30 in the morning. God fucking hell. The school doesn't start till 7:45. Jade smiled at her future stepmother and took the coffee from her. Taking a sip of the warm liquid, and inhaled the scent. It was her favorite, French roast with vanilla and caramel creamer. Not too hot or too cold. It was just right.

"Not really know, but why I am up so early?'' Chole chuckled and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Jade was not a morning person, she was not even a night person if she were being honest. Trixie yawned and feigned sleep covering her head with the blanket trying to block out the lights.

"You'll be fine, and Trixie no playing around your school starts at 7:15 and 7:45 respectively and I have got both of you dropped off, and I'm meeting Chief Swan after I drop ya'll off. Your dad is still asleep so be quiet this morning.'' Jade nodded, she nudged her sister to get her to wake. Trixie groaned and crawled out of bed claiming the bathroom first.

" I know Mama, I have the Morningstar reputation to uphold.'' Chole smiled as her "daughter'' called her Mama. She knew the weeks following The Incident had been easy, and Jade being the ever Morningstar acted like it didn't affect her at all. Giving her a hug, she was proud of her for, at least handle it.

"You don't have to fake it. Just be yourself, and you make and your dad proud.'' Chole kissed her forehead leaving her daughter to get dressed, "Don't dawdle!'' Chole reminded her as she walked out of the room. Pulling off her tank top she touched the scars that marred her arms. I guess no tank top today. She thought bitterly. Looking through her closet, she pulled out a black cardigan that showed a bit of her midriff, and a black skirt that covered most of her legs, pulling her periwinkle-colored hair into a bun. Taking a deep breath, looking in the mirror she almost looked like her old self. Sure, she was a little thinner than usual, but that was okay, the weight loss wasn't that noticeable. If anyone asked, she just wasn't hungry. Walking downstairs, she smelled waffles and bacon. Trixie was already at the table with a waffle halfway in her mouth. Her mom placed two more on a plate with a couple of pieces of bacon, Chole turned around as she was about to hand her daughter her breakfast, with a gaping mouth.

"Woah, there Miss Sexy, tell me are you going to a strip club or school? Because that,'' Chole said gesturing to Jade's outfit of choice, "Is not gonna happen. You might have gotten away when it was just you and Lucifer, but you need to set an example for Trixie.'' Jade huffed and crossed her arms. Living with her father, she was allowed a certain amount of freedom. Meaning, she could do pretty much what she wanted within the limits of the law. But since Chole moved in, her life had become stricter in a sense, it wasn't a bad thing. It brought more structure in life, and as Dr. Martin put it, would help in her recovery.

"Mama-'' Before Jade could prepare her defense Trixie voiced her opinion.

"Mom, I think that Jade looks great, she might actually get a boyfriend in that outfit.'' Both of the girls laughed, Chole rolled her eyes. The detective sighed and put down Jade's breakfast with a smirk.

"You know what I say about school.'' Both girls looked at each other and rolled their eyes and said in monotone voices.

"School is for education, not boys or fashion.'' They both said.

"I know Mama, but like I said. I have the Morningstar reputation to uphold. This is the latest from Italia, I have to show it off.'' She laughed. Chole sighed and drank her coffee watching her girls interact. It had all been a rush, really. The last few months working with Lucifer, getting to know his vivacious daughter. Then, the whole Malcolm incident practically drained the life out of her, but for the past few weeks, she seemed to be getting better, but part of her wondered whether Jade was faking the whole "I swear I'm getting better thing''

"Okay, okay you win. But if the school says something about your outfit you face the consequences. I'm not bailing you out." Chole said firmly. Jade nodded. She finished her breakfast, placing her plate in the sink, Jade went to the little nook that held her new school things. New school, new me. Jade thought with a bit of irony. Her father insisted that she and Trixie get all new things for school. "To brush off the past so to speak.'' Her father had said. Tugging at the strap of her messenger bag she walked out the door to Chole's car, with a single thought in her head

I can do this. I'm a Morningstar, I have my father's name to uphold. Besides to let everyone down would be my greatest unhappiness.
