chapter three - lights out
Hey guys! I'm back with another chapter! Thank y'all so much for the views and reviews, I really appreciate them. Again, make sure you follow AriIsDivergent to read her among us story, and all of her others!
recap-
After a quick flashback chapter, we're back to the present. Everyone has arrived on Polus and is settling in. But, as Pink views the newly set up cameras, a shock is revealed. Someone has died. But who? And most importantly, who is the killer?

Thoughts rushed through my mind at hundreds of miles an hour. Why would anyone kill someone? Who did it? Why them? Was this real?
It never occurred to me that this trip could be dangerous. Although, Mr. Big was acting odd before the trip. I think back to the occurence.
"If worst comes to worst. But, the care you will be under is excellent. I don't expect any injuries, much less deaths," He said that day. It was very strange, to say the least.
I guess there are other injury causes, like plane crashes, but we weren't in a plane. It was a spaceship.
I think it's safe to assume that it was specifically engineered to avoid that kind of stuff, but you can't prevent everything. You would never expect the bad thing to happen to you, but it could at any moment. We're not on the spaceship at the moment, so I guess that's one worry I can put aside for now. If I even manage to make it back when this is over.
Back to the present. I peeked back at the cams, hoping that it was all fake. Then it got worse.
"What the-"
The lights went out. I could still see motion on cams, but all color had disappeared. Just with my luck, at that very moment, somebody walked into the view of the camera. Very quickly, I saw them grab a small device from their pocket and click something.
"Hey!" I heard someone yell from a distance.
The doors. I heard them all close, and I glanced momentarily out of the security room.
I was locked in. I may not be amazing at the locks here, but I knew enough about them from the manuals to know that they were locked.
"The manual!" I repeated to myself.
I had a copy somewhere in here…
Then I had a thought. I glanced back at cams. If I could stall the person there for long enough, I could turn the lights back on and discover their identity.
I rushed over to the intercom and tried to think of a reasonable thing to say in this situation.
"Hey ya'll!" I giggled.
Why'd I giggle? I thought to myself in anger.
"Well, there's some like, technical stuff going on and…"
Remember, you have to stall. Come on.
"I don't think it'll be fixed for a while. So, go on with what you're doing!" I quickly turned off the intercom.
Time to get to work.

It was never my first choice.
But, it was what I knew I had to do. And who better to pick off first than the new girl?
Nobody would ever suspect me. Or her. That's why she had to go.
I knew it would have to come to an end eventually. There's no way I could seem innocent forever. I knew one day I'd mess it up. But not today.
To you, I probably seem guilty. My alter ego, of course. Writing as an impostor, well, I'm giving myself away. But, even the mastermind I am can't stay perfectly normal at all times.
When I killed the girl, she looked confused at first. She must not have known the place well, because she cornered herself perfectly. Easy. Almost… too easy.
I looked up. The cams. They weren't on yet, and I had checked recently enough to know that I had enough time if I went fast enough.
I killed her. That was the easiest part. Quickly, I rushed into the lab and vented away. I quickly hopped out in a different location and ran through the snow to find a camera.
The light was blinking. I had done it just in time.
I shut off the lights on the small device I had stolen from the Skeld.
Now, I had thought ahead enough to grab a night vision device, but I forgot to hide the others. My time was limited. Luckily, they were in Storage, and that room was stuffed to the brim with random junk.
A voice interrupted my thinking. Pink. She was talking on the intercom, and seemed to not know what was happening. Perfect. A win for me, right?

My hands felt numb. I struggled to feel for things in the darkness, and the cold air trickling through the small gap in the door wasn't helping.
I have to go and do this I thought to myself.
I had found the manual, but the lighting software was very complicated. It made much less sense than the camera system, especially because the cameras weren't disabled, and I worked with security every day. That, plus all the broken wires had me stumped. Nonetheless, I knew I had to fix them.
I placed the helmet over my hair, sealed it, and took a huge breath in.
Here goes nothing.
I walked outside. There was a huge box stuffed with switches and wires, and surrounding the area was a tall fence. Above me, I could see those stars. They were still gorgeous.
I got to work quickly, and in no time, the wires were fixed. All I had left to do was flip the switches into just the right positions. I had them ready, and I prepared myself to run inside and view the cameras once I could see.
3,
2,
1.
I rushed inside with all the strength I had. I ripped the helmet off my head, and glanced on the cameras.
Nothing.
Purple was at o2, Red and green were in weapons, White was at dropship fixing up something, Black was back at camp, Purple and Blue were in admin, and I didn't see Lime or Orange anywhere.
Wait.
How could purple be in two places at once?
I didn't have time to worry about this.
I ran to the tents and looked for the captain. There was no trace of him, and his baggage was gone. Rats! The ship must have already left. They could be light years away now. We were alone. Stranded, here on Polus.
With a killer.
