Harry and Ginny were sitting in the kitchen table. Their three kids seated all at the table too. It was winter break meaning everyone was at home.
Lilly was awfully quiet, which Ginny found odd.
"How was school?" Ginny asked trying to break the silence, of her usually crazy kids.
James nodded and kept his eyes on his plate. Albus stared out the window, and Lilly didn't even acknowledge someone talking.
Harry chuckled and looked at Ginny. "Alright what's wrong? Our kids are as quiet as rocks." Harry said finally.
James shrugged, but Lilly burst out. "We were reading things in school, and... and... history books said that you died." Lilly exclaimed, pointing at Harry.
"I think it's time I tell you a story." Harry said quietly.
All three kids went silent, but Harry could tell they were listening.
"Alright, in 1981 October 31st... there were three people who lived in Godric's Hollow. James Potter and Lilly Potter, and their 1 year old son Harry Potter." Harry stopped and stuck out his hands, the kids took his hands, along with Ginny... and they left to Godric's hollow.
The kids and Ginny walked with Harry as he spoke, guiding them to the house his parents died in.
"And so, one night a evil wizard who went under the name Voldemort, came to kill the happy family. Because you have to understand... there was a war going on between the good guys (Lilly and James) and the bad guys (Voldemort)." Harry paused so he could catch a small breath.
They then got to the house and everyone saw the ruins, Ginny squeezed Harry's hand.
"Voldemort came to the house, and murdered James, and went to murder Lilly, but she pleaded to compromise, but he didn't and he killed Lilly. Leaving the baby, a small baby." Harry paused so he could pull everyone along to the next place to go.
"Voldemort tried to kill the baby, but the curse rebounded because of Lilly's sacrifice. Making Voldemort's soul split and latch itself onto the only living thing, Harry Potter himself."
Lily gasped and James looked stunned. Albus looked confused. Ginny smiled at Harry. With a crack they disappeared to the next destination, The Dursley's house.
"Harry was then brought over here to live with his abusive Aunt and Uncle. And he lived here for 10 years! He didn't know he was a wizard, and he was told his parents died in a car crash until one day when Hagrid knocked down the door and told Harry he was a wizard." Harry paused again, as they walked away from the remains of the Dursley house.
"Harry then went to Hogwarts, he met his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. He then got put on the Gryffindor quidditch team, and Professor Quirrel had Voldemort on the back of his head, and he tried to steal the philosophers stone. But Harry, Ron and Hermione saved the stone and Dumbledore destroyed it." Harry said plainly, trying to summarize his adventures.
"The next year, Ginny Weasley was taken into the chamber of secrets, by Tom Riddle which we find is another version of Voldemort. The diary which he used to come back as his younger self, was in Ginnys possession at the time... meaning she was possessed and forced to open the chamber." Harry looked at his wife, who was looking into the distance, and shuttered at the memory.
"Then, professor Lupin came to school. An Harry Potters godfather, Sirius Black was out on the run from Azkaban." Harry explained shortly, he wanted Teddy to hear the whole official story with his kids later, perhaps another day.
Harry grabbed their hands and led them to the park were the dementors attacked him in his 5th year.
"Then, next year Harry was put into the Triwizard tournament! Some teacher put him in, that wasn't even a teacher, it was a death eater... and so He won the tournament and went to a grave yard because the cup was a port key. An witnessed Voldemort return." Harry stopped for a moment, and Disappeared to Diagon Ally.
They went to the ice cream shop, and bought 5 ice creams, for their family, and sat at the benches as he explained the rest.
"He gave his winnings to Fred and George Weasley to start their own joke-shop, since he didn't need the money." Harry added hastily. Ginny glared at him from across the table, she didn't know that part of the story.
"Then, Their were dementor attack at privet drive. Harry had to go to court to get his name cleared, and the ministry wasn't believing Voldemort was back! Umbridge came to the school and was a teacher..." Harry was then interrupted by Lily.
"Wait the pink toad lady, that's in Azkaban thanks to you daddy?" Lily said, her eyes glowing brown like her mother's.
"That's right Lily Lou." Harry said smiling at his daughters cleverness and laughing at how she called umbridge the same thing Harry would.
Lily smiled and sunk into her ice cream, letting Harry continue.
"Draco helped Umbridge find the DA which was an organization against Umbridge, and they broke into the ministry, Sirius Black was killed.. but Voldemort was shown to the public so now everyone believed he was back." He hurried hastily over Sirius's death, because it was difficult to re-see
James beamed into the distance, as he now knew what two big of a hero's he was named after.
"Harry became quidditch captain! And he started learning about these Horcruxes that tortured Ginny in her first year, and that was inside Harry. Harry got detention with Snape after using one of the half blood princes spells..." Harry stopped as he swallowed to catch a breath. Ginny beamed at him, as she knew what came next.
"...which meant that Harry missed a lot of class meaning that he missed the final quidditch game, after the match that had a party, and Harry kissed Ginny!" Harry said grinning at the memory, laughing as he remembered Ron's face.
Ginny didn't wear the same grin, and Harry laughed he recognized that expression on his wife's face.
"Wow, wow, wow... I kissed you." Ginny glared, arguing. "No, I kissed you." Harry said smugly. "No, you didn't have the nerve... I kissed you." Ginny added. Harry laughed as he knew she was probably right. Ginny grinned as she knew she won the battle.
"Clearly your father cannot be trusted, I'll take it from here." Ginny said with a wink towards Lily, James and Albus.
Harry rolled his eyes, and sunk back with a smile.
"Anyways, Year ended and the noble Albus Dumbledore died. An left Harry with this horrible mission to go hunt horcruxes while his new girlfriend had to be dumped for her safety." Ginny added, slyly.
"Harry continued hunting horcuxes while going into hiding, breaking into gringotts, and breaking into the ministry. He then scrambles back to Hogwarts, and is trying to find one of the last horcruxes... and remember Harry is a horcrux, he just doesn't know it yet." Ginny added trying to spice up the story.
"After that, everything breaks loose. People are dying, we are fighting. My brother died. Hermione and Ron finally kiss. Neville professes his love for Luna who isn't interested. My dear mother calls Voldemort's most loyal death eater and Bitch. Things are going loco." Ginny added trying to capture the craziness of the battle.
"Harry realized that he was the last horcrux and needed to be destroyed, so he went to the forbidden forest where Voldemort was, and was killed." Ginny added dramatically. Lily gasped, Albus shuttered, and James fell out of his chair.
Ginny laughed and Harry helped James up onto his chair again.
"I know, that was my reaction too." Ginny said empathetically.
"It turned out, the night your Grandma Lily Potter gave her life to protect Harry's... it made a bond between them meaning Harry couldn't die." Ginny explained.
"Meaning that I lived." Harry re-assured his kids. Lilly sighed, and Albus looked as though his soul was shoved back in his chest.
"Anyways, your dear father saved our world, and Voldemort was gone!" Ginny finished excitingly.
"Of course he then married me, had you devious kids and here we are." Ginny added winking at Harry.
Harry thought inside his head, how lucky he was to have Ginny. This would have been way harder without her.
Harry smiled and clapped his kids on the backs as they headed home.
Nothing in the world could disturb the Potters. Well besides Delphi... but that was to come.
