A little over 2 weeks later and Hermione was busy working at St. Mungo's. She was just joking and talking with her co-workers when a patients file was giving to her.

"Room 3, healer Granger."

She took file and walked to the hallway and pushed the door open with a large 3 on it. She just entered the room when she saw a tall red head sitting on the exam table. She looked at Fred than the file and back at Fred again.

"Fred! What are you doing here? Are you alright?"

"Yes I'm fine. I'm here for 2 things actually." Hermione cocked an eyebrow. "First. I am here for my sixth month checkup. You know after almost dying." He added dramatically. "And second. I still don't have a phone." He pouted at her.

"You know that doesn't work on me right?" Smiled as she looked back at the file. "Why isn't healer Debb here?"

"Because I asked for you."

"And why is that?"

His ears turned a bit pink. "Because you promised to come with me to buy me phone."

"I did no such thing. You just said me or Harry got to come with you. And that was like 2 weeks ago."

"Yeah. I have been busy."

"Sure. And why didn't you ask me after your check up?" He shrugged and smiled at her.

"This is more fun." She returned to her file and read it thoroughly before speaking again.

"Clothes off." She said without looking up.

"My, my, bossy healer Granger." He teased and took his clothes of except his boxers.

"Yes you can leave them on." As she walked over and placed the file next to Fred.

"Can you lay back?" Fred did as he was told without cracking a joke. He saw how serious she looked and how seriously she took her job.

"So.. why didn't you tell me you need to take a potion daily?"

"No one knows." Hermione looked surprised at his answer.

"No. Not even George. They worry too much. They didn't leave me alone for the first year after it happened." She nodded before answering.

"Yeah I know. If they couldn't be there they sent me or Harry. But they did that because they love you." Fred pulled his arms up and placed his hands behind his head, eyes closed.
Hermione took him in yet again. Her gaze following his arms, chest and abdomen. She snapped her head back up before he would notice.

"But that's why I didn't tell them. Because if they knew I had to take potions the rest of my life to not be in pain or that my body could crumble down they would never leave me alone."

"I get that. But you should have someone to talk to about this. So if something were to happen, they know what to do." She reached out for his shoulder. "What if something happened? You could die without that potion." Fred saw fear in her eyes as she looked down on him. He reached over and touched her hand that rests on his shoulder.

"I'm fine really. And besides now you know. Now you are my emergency contact." Hermione let out a small chuckle.

"You know what that is?"

"We do have a muggle tv Mione."

"Right. And do you also know how they reach your emergency contact?" She saw Fred thinking about the question before shrugging.

"With a phone Fred." As she laughed and Fred chimed in.

"Ok. Now for the serious part. First a few questions." She picked up the file again and asked the questions that where in his file and stopped at the last one.

"Okay. Last question..-"

"Yes?"

"Euuhmm...-" he saw her blush creeping up. "How many sexual partners did you have in the last 6 months." She barreled down that question that he wasn't sure he heard her correct.

"Ooh." He turned bright red. "One."

"Besides me Fred." Hermione said still avoiding his eyes.

"Oh ok. Then.. one." Hermione's eyes went big as she found his eyes.

"But..-"

"Yes I like to flirt sometimes-" Hermione snorted. "And I do go out but it never lead to anything more. Before that night it was 8 months ago that I've been with someone."

"So why -"

"Because," Fred interrupted. "We both needed a distraction. We are friends, we know each other, we would't hurt each other."
Hermione was overwhelmed with all of this information.

"And your hot." Fred stated.

"You're not bad yourself." And they both started to laugh. "Does George know?"
He shook his head and a silence fell over the room.

"Okay back to business." Hermione cleared her throat.

"Arms next to your waist please." She started prodding at his side. Before softly pushing down around his abdomen.

"Let me know if it hurts." She felt around for a couple minutes before Fred flinched. "Did that hurt?"

"No I'm fine."

"Fred don't try to be macho. This is important."

"Sorry. Yes it hurts" She pulled out her wand from her robe and cast a spell on his right ribs. A scan popped up in front of them. And she studied the scan carefully.

"Did you forget to take the potion?"

"No. I took it this morning."

"And for the last month? Forget it at one point or didn't drink it completly empty?" Fred tried to think back. He always sets his potion right on his nightstand before he goes to bed.

"Oooh." His grew big.

"So yes? When?" She saw Fred turn red. Not only his ears but also his face.

"It- it was that night. Almost three weeks ago." He saw the moment she understood what he meant as she to went red.

"After I got to the shop George didn't let me go upstairs. He put me straight to work. I worked late and when I dropped down on the bed I dozed right off." It was quiet for a moment both looking the other way.

"And did you have any symptoms? Pain? Nausea?"

"Just the place where you poked me. I just thought it is was from work."

"Fred.. You know that spot is where you were hurt the most." Fred looked at her. He saw her eyes water. He reached at her hand and squeezed it. She looked down. She couldn't meet his eyes.

"This spot-" She touched his ribs gently. "There was a big rock that landed here. Half on top of you. When we got the rock of... there was a piece lodged between your ribs. I thought I was too late. I thought..-" Fred pulled himself up and wrapped her in a hug as she started to cry.

"It's okay Hermione. I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere." He pulled away. "Hey. Look at me." He placed his hand under her chin and made her look up.

"It's because of you I'm still here. And you will never lose me."
When she looked at him she saw tears in his eyes and pulled him back into a hug.

"I'm sorry."

"It's okay love. It's okay." He stroked her hair gently. She started to calm down and put on her brave face again.

"Lie back down." Free chuckled but did as told. "You really need to take that potion or else.." "I know. From now on I will always take one with me." Hermione nodded as she placed her wand at his ribs.

"Light internal bleeding." She mumbled and cast a spell on the spot which made Fred wince. She put her wand back in her pocket and poked his ribs again.

"Better?"

"Yeah thanks." He said while she walked to a shelf full of vials. And picked one up.

"Drink this."

"It's save isn't it?" He joked.

"Very funny." But it made her smile.

"Just to be sure. You can put your clothes back on."

"You sure?" He winked at her. She slapped his arm.

"So. Ready to get going?

"Hmm?" She looked up from the file she was updating.

"Shopping for the cellphone."

"I still have work."

"Nope your college said you were done at 4." As he pointed at the clock. "You really took your time with me." He joked. She rolled her eyes at him.

"I'll go change. Wait in the lobby." As she took his file and stepped out of the room.

"I think we should buy this one." Fred hold up an expensive cell phone with a purple cover. She took over the phone and read the card on the table.

"No."

"No? Why not?" Fred whined as he followed her to another row of phones.

"Because it's your first phone. You just need something so you can call and text.""Text? What's that?"

"Exactly. It will be hard enough to teach you these things.""Fine. You pick then."

"I already have. Let's go to the register." As the left the shop with a small bag Fred stomach started to rumble.

"That Weasley appetite again?" Hermione laughed.

"Yeah. Really need to get some food in me."

"Or you will get hangry? Come let's go. I know a great restaurant. In the mean time I can explain how your phone works."

"Sound like a plan." As he holds his arm out and she linked hers with his.

After they ordered dinner Hermione unpacked the bag. She took out the phone, charger and payment card.

"First off, the phone. If you press here for 3 seconds it will turn on or off. It will take a few seconds to start up. I will put my number and Harry's in. Now pay attention because I'm going to show you how to put a number in." She pushed a few buttons before adding her number in. "And then you just type the name. Now you try Harry's."

Fred frowned as he took the phone and started to push different buttons. After 5 minutes he yelled.

"I did it!"

"Fred. Not so loud." Hermione grinned as she watched other people glance around at them. "Finally." She chuckled.

"Hey." Fred crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.

"I'm sorry." Hermione tried to hold back her laugh. "Here, let's see how long it takes you to send a text."
Fred looked at the phone and back to Hermione. After Fred send his first text to a very confused Harry dinner arrived. They talked about how Fred and George launched the nail polish which was a big hit. To their surprise most of them men. Probably because most men can't read their girlfriends, Hermione stated. When dessert arrived Hermione tried to pick up the subject from the hospital.

"Fred.. can I ask you something?"

"Hmmm?" He looked up from his tiramisu. "Sure."

"If you don't want to tell me it's fine but.. why haven't you.. you know.. with other girls." He looked back at his dessert and start poking in it with his spoon.

"After the war I wanted to enjoy live. I felt like whenever I was with a girl I was alive and wanted." Fred was still avoiding her eyes.

"But now.. when I see George and Angie, Bill and Fleur. I just feel jealous. I feel like something is missing. And a tried the whole dating thing but it never feels right." Hermione waited for him to continue but he stayed quiet.

"But why didn't you tell George? Why do you let your family believe you're only good for one timers?""Because that's what they see. They will never believe I want to settle down. They all make jokes about it. They don't take me seriously."

"Fred. Look at me." She grabbed his hand and he looked up. She saw tears welling up in the corner of his eyes.

"Your family loves you. They believe in you, just like I do. We know you don't just sleep around with every girl on the corner. They know you would want a family someday. And besides most people would be embarrassed at the fact that they sleep around and not at the fact they want a family." She joked, which earned her a smile from Fred. He pulled her close and hugged her tight.

"Why are you so amazing?" Hermione blushed at this statement.

"I try." She laughed as she tried to hide her blush with her hair.

"We should get going it's starting to get late." They ate their desserts and walked to a alley so they can apparate home.

"Thanks for coming with me." Said Fred as they walked to the back of the alley.

"Sure I had fun."

"Yeah me to." Fred ears turning red. He bend down and gave her a kiss on the cheek, that probably lasted longer than a normal peck on the cheek should be.

"I'll see you Sunday."

"Sunday." She smiled and the both apparated to their homes.

Hermione dropped on her couch and put her head in her hands. What is happening? Something changed today between her and Fred. What exactly she didn't know. They both told each other secrets that no one knows about. Not Harry or Ginny, not even George. They saw each other vulnerable side today. After that night nothing changed really. They still joked around, talk about work, still the friends like before. But today it shifted. Shifted to a place she couldn't understand. With her head still full of worry she drifted asleep on her couch.

She jumped right up when her phone rang inside her purse. She looked at her watch 10.30pm. Who is calling so late? She dug around in her purse before pulling out her phone and flipped it open. Fred. She frantically picked up.

"Fred! Are you okay? Did something happen?"

"Yeah fine." He said nonchalant.

"Then don't give me a heart attack! Mostly when people call so late it's not good news.""Oh. I'm sorry Mione. I didn't know. I just wanted to try the phone out. It only took me 3 times to call you. Muggles are really something.

"It's ok."

"Mione.. where you worried about me?" Fred teased.

"Yes! After your revelation earlier, now even more." It was quiet for a few seconds before Fred spoke again.

"I'm really sorry. I didn't meant to scare you."

"No it's o-"

"No I need to make it up to you!"

"Fred it's no-"

"Oh! I know just what to do." Fred interrupted again. "I'm going to bake your nana's cookies. They are your favorite yes?" "Euhm yes. They are." She was in a bit of a shock that Fred knew that.

"But you don't-"

"No. I don't take no for an answer. You will take them on Sunday and you will enjoy them, I hope. Not another word on the subject." His voice so determined Hermione didn't argue.

"Fine. Now I think I'll go to bed.

"Goodnight Granger."

"Goodnight Weasley."
